Pumo Yongcuo is a saltwater lake in the Himalayas, with an altitude of about 5,010 meters. "Pumo" means little girl, and "Yongcuo" means a lake like jade. Pumo Yongcuo is surrounded by continuous snow-capped mountains, and the majestic "Kulagangri" sacred mountain is next to the lake. Kulagangri is about 7,538 meters above sea level. The entire snow-capped mountain is composed of three peaks, and there are 6 peaks above 7,000 meters standing next to Kulagangri. The water of Pumo Yongcuo is clear and blue, and the island in the lake is like a giant turtle, quietly guarding this "girl". Legend has it that Pumo Yongcuo was blessed by Guru Padmasambhava, thus having a sacred aura.

The holy lake is surrounded by sacred mountains. From a distance, it looks similar to the panoramic view of Namtso Lake, but the magic of Pumoyongcuo lies in its blue ice and ice cracks.
The shock of blue ice and ice cracks hits the heart directly. Standing on the thick ice, listening to the roar of the holy lake, and the crisp sound of ice cracks from time to time, even though the ice is very thick, I am still very scared in my heart.
Looking down through the ice, the water in the holy lake is dark green, and the frozen small bubbles show the life of the holy lake.
It is recommended that you wear clothes suitable for taking photos. Under the sunshine, you will not feel cold when standing on the ice surface of Pumoyongcuo, so you don’t need to wrap yourself too tightly.
We arrived at the ice crack at around 11 o'clock. The wind was light, the sun was shining, and there were few people. It is recommended to visit Pumoyongcuo in the morning. The wind started to blow in the afternoon and it was very strong. Not only that, but tourist groups also arrived one after another in the afternoon.
A special reminder: the road from Langkazi County to Pumoyongcuo Tuiwa Village is an easy-to-walk asphalt road, but to reach the blue ice and ice cracks, you need to walk on a relatively flat gravel road. It is really flat and easy to walk on.
The world's highest large freshwater lake is quietly nestled in the embrace of the endless snow-capped mountains of the Himalayas. Like all the holy lakes in Tibet, the lake is always in harmony with the snow-capped mountains. The azure sky, floating white clouds, and the sparkling lake surface are surrounded by waves beating against the white ice on the shore.
This place has not been overdeveloped yet. It is winter, so there are few people and it is a peaceful place away from the world.
Located at the junction of Lhozha County and Langkazi County in Shannan Prefecture, it is a point after seeing Yamdrok Lake. At the end of April, the lake was still frozen, but I didn’t dare to stand on it. I heard that it seemed that the ice began to melt a little at that time. Safety first!
A sign said the altitude was 4,980 meters. I had a strong reaction to the altitude. It was okay to walk down, but after taking pictures, the uphill section was still very strenuous. I would be gasping for breath after walking a dozen steps!
In short, I think it's quite good. It's still worth a look!
Because Pumoyongcuo is located in the Shannan border area, a border pass is required. Before the road was paved, many people did not know that Pumoyongcuo existed.
In winter, the surface of Pumoyongcuo Lake freezes, and the bottom of the lake is visible. Under the sunlight, the ice surface highlights the blue of the lake. When I posted it on WeChat Moments, everyone left a message saying that it felt like Lake Baikal.
There are few descriptions of this little-known sacred lake, Pumo Yumtso, but it is undoubtedly very beautiful. I wonder what a beautiful scenery it will be when the ice melts in the spring.
I like to hear the nice creaking sounds when I step on the lake, sit by the lake and feel the whistling wind in the distance, lie on the lake and look at the sky. At that moment, there are many people around me, but I feel like I am the only one.
When we went there, the ice on the lake had just melted, and there were piles of ice on the lakeside. The Girl Lake was really beautiful, like a scene from a painting. If I hadn't looked at it for a second longer, I wouldn't have known it was so beautiful. The paved road leading to the Girl Lake was newly opened, so there were fewer tourists going there.
It’s beautiful in any shot. This is really the most beautiful lake I have ever seen.
The impression I have is that Pumo Yongcuo suddenly appeared in front of my eyes inadvertently. When the car was still climbing the slope, it suddenly appeared at an altitude of 5,100 meters. It was very shocking to see Pumo Yongcuo for the first time. After circling part of Yanghu Lake, we came to the frozen Pumo Yongcuo. As the sun set, the lake surface was a little dazzling.
This is my third time to visit Pumoyongcuo. Every time I come to the lakeside of Pumoyongcuo, I will stare at Kulagangri silently. This snowy mountain, which looks a bit like a pyramid and a bit like Mount Everest from a distance, is located in Lhozha County. In addition to seeing it in Pumoyongcuo, you can also accompany it when hiking in Baimalingcuo.
"Pumo" means "girl" in Tibetan, so Pumo Yongcuo is called "Girl Lake". It is really like a girl kept in a boudoir. Every time we come, there is only our car.
If a photo of blue ice had not been circulated two years ago, Pumoyongcuo would still be a very secret and niche place.
Finally we arrived at Phumyum Co, which became famous because of "The Third Pole". The azure blue lake, towering snow-capped mountains and thick clouds complement each other.
The clear, pure and touching blue of Pum Yumtso makes people reluctant to leave. I have seen a lot of scenery, and this place makes me want to come again. Pum Yumtso, wait for me.
The shuttle bus will stop by the lake for us to take pictures.
The moment the waves hit the shore, they condensed into crystal ice. The center of the ice was refracted by the sunlight and had a faint blue tint. We were all shocked by the scenery and took photos of each other excitedly.
The Tomenlin Monastery has a wide view, overlooking Pum Yumtso Lake. A huge ice lake extends outward, with snow-capped mountains in the distance. The ice lake appears blue in patches under the sun.
We returned from the east bank of Phum Yumtso, which was equivalent to circling the lake.
The east coast is completely different from the west coast. I don’t know if it’s due to the water depth or the local climate difference, but the east coast is not completely frozen, but appears a deep dark blue. This is the legendary filming location of "The Third Pole".
Pumoyongcuo and Yanghu Lake are on the same route, so you can arrange it on a one-day route. You need to apply for a border pass in advance before going, otherwise you can't pass. It is recommended to apply online, one day in advance, 20 per person, and a minimum of four people.
Recommended play time: 1-2 hours
There were hardly any people there when we arrived. It felt like we had the whole lake to ourselves, quietly enjoying the sound of the waves.
Pumoyongcuo is like a poem or painting. In the embrace of the white-shining Himalayas, the clear blue holy lake is crystal clear, and the surrounding mountains are reflected on the lake, which is extremely beautiful. The sun shines through the clouds onto the lake, making the water sparkle and the blue crystal clear. Under the bright blue sky in winter, this is a dreamy and lively world of ice and snow.
Pumo Yumco Lake is located at the junction of Langkazi County and Lhozha County in Shannan Prefecture, Tibet. Its water source comes from the meltwater of Kulagangri Snow Mountain in the southern mountainous area. The water flows eastward, through a short river, and into Yamdrok Lake.
"Pumo" means little girl, and lakes like jade are called "Yongcuo". Pumo Yongcuo, the lake surface is 5,000 meters above sea level, surrounded by continuous snow-capped mountains, and the sacred mountain Kulagangri (7,600 meters above sea level) is just to the south of the lake.
The small island in the lake is the "winter pasture" of Tuiwa Village. Whenever the lake freezes, the villagers drive their sheep to the island to graze and then drive them back to the village before the lake thaws the next year.
The scenery is amazing, with a strong plateau flavor. It is suitable for seeing blue ice in winter. Unfortunately, I have not been there in winter, so don’t even think about accommodation and services. The highest lake in the world is not just talk. Be prepared for altitude sickness headaches before you go!
There are many "cos" in Tibet, but only six can be called "Yongcuo", and Shannan accounts for three of them: Yamdrok Yumtso, Pumo Yumtso and Nari Yumtso. "Yong" means turquoise, and "Yongcuo" can be understood as a jade-like lake, which has a certain relationship with the color of the lake water, but there is no doubt that "Yongcuo" is very noble and sacred in the hearts of Tibetans.
Pumoyongcuo, with an altitude of about 5,000 meters, is located in the border area, with a line of snow-capped mountains headed by Kulagangri next to it, which is particularly beautiful. Pumoyongcuo is relatively remote, and there are not many tourists coming here. It has gradually become popular in recent years because of the blue ice after the winter freeze and the surrounding 40 glaciers.
💎After the Pumoyongcuo was frozen, walking on the ice gave you the illusion of stepping on Lake Baikal, so it is also known as the "Lake Baikal of China". There is an island in the center of Pumoyongcuo. The documentary "The Third Pole" said that after the lake was frozen in winter, the nearby villagers would drive their sheep across the frozen lake to the island to graze. I remember this scene very clearly and I must go and see it once if I have the chance.
Pumoyongcuo is a lake that became famous because of the documentary "The Third Pole", but it is not on the main road around the lake. It may take an extra 1.5 hours to go back and forth, and the road is winding along the mountain. The road condition is not very good. I actually got carsick here, and my stomach was churning. I can't tell you how uncomfortable it was. When I arrived at Pumoyongcuo, the clouds in the sky became heavy without knowing when. The lake surface was silver-gray due to the lack of sunlight, and the Kulagangri Snow Mountain was looming behind the lake.
Kulagang is the only way to go west. The girl's tears freeze into blue ice in winter, and the winter-only Pumoyongcuo is the most beautiful.
The icy lake is azure blue, the cold wind is strong! The snow-capped mountains are covered with peaks, and the prayer flags are blazing.
It's windy...so cold...be sure to wear more clothes.
In my eyes, Pumoyongcuo looks like a piece of jade that has fallen to earth and turned into a lake. Its blue is peaceful and pure, like a mirror of the sky. Against the backdrop of the snow-capped mountains, the holy sunlight shines on the blue lake, making it sparkle and shine. Here, you can see the snow-capped mountains that have stood for tens of millions of years in the distance, the primitive villages that have been passed down for thousands of years on the shore, and the sacred and legendary temples on the cliffs. Everything is so natural and peaceful, seemingly spotless. Could this be the paradise I am looking for? It can be said that "the strange land from the west, the spiritual land outside the world, the four mountains swallow the vastness, and the blue wipes the sky clear."
The biggest motivation for this trip to Tibet was to see the blue ice and ice bubbles at Pumo Yongcuo. Although for some reason there was no blue ice when we went there, it was all white, but it was still very beautiful.
But it was really cold and windy in Pumoyongcuo. The strong wind blew my tripod away and it couldn't stand at all.
Pumoyongcuo is even colder than Yanghu Lake!
When we got to Pumoyongcuo, almost no one got off the bus. It seemed that everyone had severe altitude sickness or it was too cold. Only Alice and the couple played for a while down there...
Continue walking up from Pumoyongcuo and you will reach Glacier 40.
Arrive at Phum Yumtso and catch the sunrise.
The lake surface was rippling with ripples, and I could see her graceful figure at a glance, which caught my heart off guard.
It's very beautiful, but the wind blows and the waves roll, and the sound of the waves splashing around is like the sea. There are only mountains and the skyline nearby. It's impossible to imagine that it's just a lake!
Pumo Yongcuo in the border area, at an even higher altitude of 5,010 meters, is the highest freshwater lake in the world. The biting cold wind is blowing outside, and standing by the highest lake, doesn’t your soul feel closer to heaven?
The Fairy Lake is frozen. The master said that if it is not frozen, the color is the same as Yanghu Lake, blue. It is frozen this month. [Warm Tips] The wind is very strong! You must wear the same equipment as Yanghu Lake before going down! Many people were exhausted after the fun, so there are no photos of Karola Glacier.
It was really, really cold. On January 3, the ice was not solid yet and we couldn't go out on it. It was very windy.
The scenery is nice. It takes more than 4 hours to get from Yanghu Lake to here and back. And you have to cross a 5,000-meter high mountain (and it's a bit of altitude sickness)
Life is about constantly struggling and experiencing the scenery and happiness!
I ran down excitedly, panting. Living in the north, I was still very excited to see this vast frozen land. The main reason was that the sky was so beautiful. There were only two of us on the entire lakeside, hahaha. There were no crowded tourists, no commercial vendors, no extra eyesores... everything was just perfect!
Although we went there in May, the lake was still frozen. After all, it is nearly 5,000 meters above sea level. But this cannot conceal its beauty. I have seen many lakes, including those in Tibet, but I still think that Pumoyongcuo is the most beautiful.
Even after experiencing the baptism of Yanghu Lake, I was still amazed by the beauty of Pumoyongcuo.
I went there in November, and it was not frozen yet. The snow-white mountains surrounded the jade-like lake, which was very beautiful. It is said that there is another kind of beauty after it freezes, but it’s a pity that I couldn’t see it.
Pumoyongcuo Lake has not yet been developed into a tourist attraction, so there are not many tourists. When we arrived, there was no one there. It can be said that the whole lake was contracted by us. Looking at the Kulagangri Snow Mountain in the distance, lying by the lake, feeling the breeze, and enjoying this quiet time.
A sapphire-like lake appears before your eyes, pure and without any worldly air.
A large lake at 5,000 meters above sea level. Sacred and quiet.
I had already started to have no hope for the weather in Manla, but when I arrived at Sapphire, I broke that thought. This just proves the saying that "Tibet has four seasons in one day", which is also in line with its changeable nature and the inevitable surprises it brings.
Is this a sea or a lake? The crystal clear water is as pure as the blue sky. The sapphire is also more dazzling and more precious.
The rolling snow-capped mountains and the clear lake water complement each other, creating a visual reflection, and the word "holy" is the only thing in my heart.
Maybe because the sky gradually cleared up, it felt better than Yamdrok Lake.
A sky realm at an altitude of 5,000 meters. Unfortunately, the temperature was a bit high at the time, and the ice had loosened, so it was impossible to drive in.
It takes 2 hours to drive from Yanghu Lake to Pumo Yumtso Lake, and you need a border pass. It is best to visit Pumo Yumtso Lake in winter, when the entire lake is frozen.
It's a pity that the blue ice didn't form yet, but the clear water at the foot of the snow-capped mountains moved us again. It was still so beautiful without ice.
The lake is sparkling and beautiful. It is a lake that has not been fully developed.
There were not many people when we got there, and the lake water was as clear as ever. What's interesting is that the pebbles on the edge of Pumoyongcuo Lake are all flat, which is very suitable for skipping stones.
I first learned about Pumoyongcuo when I watched CCTV's documentary "The Third Pole". In the film, the sheep need to move to the island in the center of the lake in winter. After staying on the island for more than a month, the herders will choose a cold day when the ice is not easy to melt and leave the island. It was very shocking at the time. The scene of the sheep walking on the ice seems to be in front of me now. At that time, I also knew that there was a village called Duicun by the lake. Pumoyongcuo, which means "girl's lake" in Tibetan, is 5010 meters above sea level and is the highest freshwater lake in the world. The water source comes from the melted snow of Kulagangri Snow Mountain (peak 7,600 meters) in the southern mountainous area. The water flows eastward through a short river into Yamdrok Lake.
Pum Yumtso is a lake under development. And it is free. In Shannan area, you need to verify the border pass! It is not far from Yanghu Lake. It is recommended to visit Pum Yumtso Lake after visiting Yanghu Lake to see its beauty. It is no less than Yanghu Lake.
Because it snowed here two days ago, there was a lot of snow on the lake when we came, so the photos we took were not very ideal. Normally, the lake surface is all blue ice. One thing to note is that the altitude here is 5010 meters. When friends play on the ice and take pictures, try not to run and jump. I have altitude sickness. The blue ice has cracks on it. If you look closely, you can see bubble ice. It is particularly transparent under the sunlight.
Every winter, sheep are driven to Pumo Yongcuo. After winter comes, the grass on the lakeshore can no longer meet the needs of the sheep. However, the grass on the island in the lake is still very good after a summer of growth. After the water of Pumo Yongcuo Lake freezes, the villagers of Tui Village will drive the sheep to the island in the middle of the lake to graze, and then drive them back before the ice melts. This scene was recorded in the documentary "The Third Pole" about Tibet. If you are interested, you can take a look.
In Langkazi County, you need to apply for a border pass, which can be obtained at the local police station. There are beautiful scenery with basically no tourists here, and it is recommended with five stars! The snow-capped mountains on the other side of the lake are clearly visible in the sun, and it is still raining on this side of the lake. The scenery is so beautiful and magical! According to local people, every winter, the lake will freeze, and local herdsmen will drive the sheep to the island in the middle of the lake to graze. The mighty sheep will sometimes slip when passing through the ice, and people jokingly call it sheep drifting. It's a pity that it's summer now, and I can't witness this lovely scene. Tuiwa Temple, built on the cliff beside the Pum Yongcuo Lake, is an important local religious center. It has to be said that this cliff temple is not generally beautiful, and it has a Greek style. This is a place you don't want to leave once you come!
The weather in Tibet is very changeable. When I first arrived at the lake, the sky was covered with dark clouds, but it cleared up after a while. The sky was so blue that it felt unreal.
Pum Yumtso has not been developed into a tourist attraction. Its altitude is slightly higher than Namtso. If you come here during the Spring Festival, the clear lake is azure blue and transparent like emerald. Wearing beautiful skating clothes, this is a natural ice rink. You can design an ice dance to show the beautiful and happy life of the people of Lhasa. After the lake is opened, it will be comparable to Namtso. You need to apply for a border defense pass to go here.
Beside the quiet Pumoyong Co Lake, Mani stones are nestled together. I really like this kind of isolated beauty.
Pumyongcuo is a little-known sister lake behind Yangzhuo Lake. It is the filming location of the world-famous documentary "The Third Pole". If Yangzhuo Yumco is crowded with people, then Pumyongcuo is your own meditation place. Before I went to Pumyongcuo, I had never heard of it, so at first, I thought it was just an ordinary lake. However, when she appeared in front of you, it is not an exaggeration to say that she was a glimpse. It is really beautiful, so beautiful that it is suffocating. It feels like I have come to a fairyland. I can't bear to leave and want to put her in my pocket and take her home. The friends couldn't help but pick up their phones to share the fairyland at this moment and the inexpressible joy in their hearts with their friends. The lake water is clean, like a mirror, and the blue sky and white clouds are reflected in the lake. We named it the Sky Realm. The master said that the winter here is more beautiful, and then I imagined the scene in winter, and the lake should be covered with ice...
This stop was a pleasant surprise. I was touched that there were not many people there, and I felt that this place belonged to us at the moment, allowing us to take pictures, stare blankly, and enjoy the moment.
In winter, the surface of Pumoyongcuo Lake freezes, and the thick ice covers the lake tightly. The midday sun cannot dispel the cold at the extremely high altitude. The ice becomes more and more solid as it freezes. The new and old ice layers constantly collide, making muffled sounds. The lake water and the ice layer present a color between blue and green. The new and old ice layers constantly collide and merge, making the ice layer appear in the form of stacked fragments.
Walking carefully on the ice on the lake, worried about the ice breaking, while marveling at the magic of the vast West.
A high and cold lake, the lake surface is 5010 meters above sea level. The blue of the lake water is deeper than that of Yamdrok Lake. My friends exclaimed, "It's so fake! It's so beautiful!" The highest peak of the middle section of the Himalayas in the south, Kulagangri, is hidden in the clouds. As the sun sets, the light and shadow become more blurred and dreamy.
When we arrived, Pumoyongcuo was still a world of ice and snow. The snow-capped mountains in the distance were graceful in the clouds and mist, the lake was still silvery white, and the sheep nearby were diligently looking for the missing wild grass.
The clouds are so thick that only Mengdagangri at 6425m can be vaguely seen. If the weather is fine, the three peaks of Karezang, Kulagangri, and the Jiexiang and Gangsha peaks in the western peak group should be visible.
The winding path on the ice is the sheep path. When there is still grass on the island in the lake, herders will drive their sheep there to graze. In order to prevent the sheep's hooves from slipping, they will sprinkle coal ash on the road. Haha, imagine the happy scene of the sheep lining up and moving forward!
Although I didn't see the sparkling and deep blue water as described in the legend, the snow was so beautiful that it was my favorite lake of the trip.
Coming down from the Mondala Pass, we saw Pumo Yumtso not far away. The lake was frozen, and the snow-capped mountains in the distance seemed to be right in front of us. We planned to go along the south bank of Pumo Yumtso, around the lake and head west to Glacier No. 40.
The scenery along the way was so beautiful that we couldn't help but stop and take various photos.
On the way, we have to cross a pass, the name of which is unknown. At the pass, we can see many snow-capped mountains surrounding Pumoyongcuo. Surrounded by mountains, the scenery is beyond words.
The wind was so strong that it only stayed for a few minutes before it became unbearable.
This is a holy lake that is rarely visited even in the peak season. It is more ethereal and beautiful than Yamdrok Lake. In winter, Pumo becomes a blue ice lake, and the waves freeze into light blue ice flowers. Walking into the lake is the real mirror of the sky...
As a southern kid, I was very surprised when I saw an icy lake for the first time. What’s more, this lake is nearly 5,000 meters above sea level. Any snow-capped mountain on the opposite side is daunting.
There is a temple on the edge of a cliff beside Pumoyongcuo. This scene reminds me of the lonely and strong Lama temple when the huge waves were surging in "2012". Fortunately, we only need to embrace the rising sun at this moment.
The sky and the earth were getting brighter and brighter. The ideal sunrise time had actually passed. The snow-capped mountains were reflected exceptionally clearly, and the blue lake surface appeared even clearer in front of us. The name "Blue Ice" was indeed well-deserved.
Facing the rising sun, getting closer and closer to the lake, the waves rolling towards the shore seem to be frozen in time, sharp and vast. Only when you really stand in the middle of it can you feel the shock and coldness.
Walking along Pumoyongcuo, the lake gradually began to show its calm side. The smooth blue ice surface in the leeward area, combined with the snow-capped mountains behind, created the photo that attracted us. Now that I have seen it with my own eyes, it is indeed worth the trip.
We could walk, lie, recline, and jump on the ice. We forgot the discomfort of altitude sickness and started to dance our own "waltz" on the ice. When we left, all the noise returned to silence. There were no footprints left on the ice, and only this picture of waiting was remembered.
Pumoyongcuo is located in the southeast of Langkazi County, Shannan Prefecture. Pumo means "girl" in Tibetan, so it is also known as "Girl Lake". The first impression is that it is clear and quiet, just like a girl, quiet and flawless. I like it more than Namtso. The lake is crystal clear, reflecting the blue sky, white clouds, and you. You can tell her about your troubles, she is still clear, and you can also become transparent. I really want to lie down and laugh with this girl lake like a girlfriend, but there are too many mosquitoes. There are all kinds of stones by the lake, which made me have choice syndrome. I picked a few pieces that I liked and took them home.
It's so beautiful! It's indescribable! The distance between me and the snow-capped mountains is so close that it seems like I am standing at the same height as the clouds!
Pum Yumtso is located in Langkazi County and requires a border pass. Compared with the beauty of Yanghu Lake and the grandeur of Namtso Lake, Pum Yumtso Lake is clearer and more tranquil. It is also one of the few freshwater lakes in Tibet. There are many kinds of pebbles by the lake. You can pick up a few of your favorite ones and take them back. In the distance, you can vaguely see the snow-capped mountains. Since this is a developing scenic spot, there is no ticket and few people, so it will be particularly peaceful here.
The most beautiful time of year for Pum Yumtso is winter. At an altitude of nearly 5,000 meters, the temperature may reach minus 30 degrees Celsius in winter, and the lake surface is frozen like a mirror.
We continued to go deeper into Yanghu Lake, crossed mountains and came to this little-known lake. Pumoyongcuo is more peaceful, but the scenery is definitely worth the trip. When we came, the ice on the lake had not melted yet, so it was more like a big mirror. But it was very cold and windy here. If you stay outside the car for a while, you will feel frozen.
There are really few people coming here. When we arrived, there were only two cars in total.
Although I couldn't see the blue ice, the whiteness was still shocking. It was the first time I felt like I had arrived at the Third Pole. It was like landing on Earth. The sky was so blue, and people were so small. Nima Dui was guarding Pumoyongcuo under the strong wind.
Pumoyongcuo at an altitude of 5,000 meters allowed me to feel the thinness of the air at high altitudes for the first time. The frozen lake surface was white. The snow-capped mountains around tightly embraced the lake on the plateau. Everything in the icy and snowy world was white except for the blue.
When I went there in mid-April, the ice was still frozen. The spectacular and stunning ice lake landscape was all white and not many people were there. It seemed like the entire Cuo Lake was contracted. You need to check the border pass to enter and exit this scenic spot. On the way from Yanghu Lake to Karola Glacier, it takes more than 100 kilometers to enter and exit. The altitude is about 5,000 meters. It is worth a visit. It is recommended not to miss it.
A very nice lake, even better than Yanghu Lake.
Located above 5,000 meters above sea level, the scenery is no less than the three sacred lakes in Tibet; the local feature is Pumqu Township, which is the highest township in the world; I arrived at 8 o'clock in the evening when it was dark. Because my companions had severe altitude sickness, the Pumqu Township Police Station provided oxygen. Pumqu Lake is completely undeveloped and has no public facilities. Seeing the armed police border guards here is as warm as family members.
The most shocking place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The mountains and water are both spectacular, and any shot you take will turn out to be a blockbuster. It’s so beautiful!
In the embrace of the Himalayas, which are shining with white light, this unique body of water is sparkling under the sunshine of the plateau. It stands proudly at an altitude of 5,100 meters, isolated from the world. This is a lake that few people have visited. It is pure and indifferent, flowing quietly between heaven and earth.
Pumoyongcuo is a relatively small tourist attraction, and not many people go there. I was attracted by the blue ice in winter at first. Although I know that the weather has become warmer now and I can't see the blue ice anymore, I still want to come once. In fact, I am still a little disappointed. After all, there are not many people managing it, and the ice is dirty. It is quite beautiful from a distance, but it lacks a little bit of spirituality. Next time if I come in winter, I will definitely make up for this regret.
It is 220 kilometers from Lhasa and passes through Yanghu Lake. Due to the speed measurement in the section and the many bends on the mountain road, it takes about 5 hours and you need to apply for a border pass. Very beautiful
Although Pum Yumtso is not far from Lhasa, few people have visited it. The lakeshore is surrounded by endless grasslands and continuous snow-capped mountains. Being in it, you will feel like you are in a paradise on earth.
Every year in late winter, Pum Yumtso Lake will have a beautiful frozen landscape. If you are lucky and it doesn’t snow, you can see the blue ice lake. It is extremely beautiful and shocking!
After arriving at Phumyongcuo, he used all his strength to
Only then could we barely get out of the car and walk to the lakeside, feeling the "freezing beauty" of the sacred lake in a force 10 gale.
In fact, it was less than two minutes after I got off the car. I used up the little energy I had left to take a few photos and look at the 360 degree view.
He quickly retreated back to the car.
To be honest, the strong wind blowing over Phum Yumtso was the limit of what the body could endure at that time, and it was also the most extreme fear that the body could feel.
Sometimes, I really want to erase this rare fear, but now looking back at the photos of my friends taking pictures and playing in the lake,
If I were given another chance to visit Phum Yumtso, I think I would be braver, at least I would not stay there for only two minutes like I did this time.
Although my experience at Pum Yumtso was terrible, I still feel the need to recommend Pum Yumtso. This plateau lake located at the foot of Kulagangri Mountain, one of the four sacred mountains in Tibet, is different from the majestic Namtso and the beautiful Yanghu Lake.
According to other people's travel guides, Pum Yumtso has the bluest sky, the most beautiful white clouds, and snow-capped mountains vaguely visible in the distance. It is truly a beautiful, peaceful, primitive and pure paradise.
The highest freshwater lake, you can play for a while, walk to the lake, there are few people and the scenery is particularly open. To go to Pum Yongcuo, you need to go through the border inspection. When you apply for the border defense permit from Lhasa on the first day, it is best to include this route, otherwise you will not be able to reach this place. Across the lake is the 40th glacier in the distance. I have seen the pictures on the Internet and it is really beautiful. Unfortunately, when we passed the border inspection, the PLA DD said that we could not go to the 40th glacier, so we could only watch from the other side of the shore.
I don't know when Pumoyongcuo became popular in the mainland and became a must-visit place for every winter visit to Tibet. I was fascinated by it. The moment I saw it, I realized that it was no longer a lake, but a belief that has stood for a thousand years on the 5,000m plateau.
When we arrived at Pumoyongcuo, I could only feel it, because it was so cold. As soon as I got off the car, I felt like I was naked. I still had a few heating pads on my body, but I only felt it when I was on the car. As soon as I got off the car, I felt like I was naked.
I went there during the Chinese New Year in February. I originally planned to see the blue ice, but when I arrived, the ice was covered with thick snow. But it was still very interesting. The wind from the mountain blew the snow on the lake, like a sea of clouds, very beautiful. It was amazing and full of fairy spirit.
The lake is not very pretty in winter, but it's nice to watch the sunrise. The road is a bit bumpy, so I stopped and walked a lot, and that's how it feels, hahahaha
Pumoyongcuo suddenly appeared when we reached the top without any warning. It was completely different from the scene just now. It was like a world in the sky. We exclaimed "Wow" at the same time.
I still remember the excitement I felt at that time, as if I was a 14-year-old girl in love. If the person I secretly loved looked at me for a second longer, I would hold my heart and smile foolishly all day long.
This is just a world of white ice. There is no staff here to stop you from going down, but I kept seeing girls and boys "pia ji" on the lake and falling down. Some people's hats and scarves were not tied tightly, and they were blown away by the wind, dedicated to this beautiful ice lake. Later, I figured out the core technology of walking on the ice, that is, no matter what shoes you wear, just treat them as ice skates, one left, one right, one left, one right, rubbing, rubbing, rubbing on this smooth ground, I am fashionable, fashionable, and the most fashionable.
The blue ice is for both of us!
Walking in the lake, there was a constant sound of ice cracking all around, mixed with the sound of the wind, which was quite shocking on the deserted lake.
Because of its blue ice, Pumoyongcuo is called China's Lake Baikal by many people.
