Yani Wetland Scenic Area

The Niyang River Scenic Area has been renamed the Yani Wetland Scenic Area
The Niyang River is a very beautiful river. In Tibetan, rivers are called "qu" and lakes are called "cuo". It is one of the four major tributaries of the Yarlung Zangbo River and is known as the mother river of the Gongbu people.
The water of Niyang River is crystal clear all year round. Because of the sacred mountain of Benri, religion and civilization flourished in this river basin. It has always been the breeding and living area of Gongbu Tibetans.
The Niyang River Observation Deck is an excellent platform for photographing the “Tibetan Jiangnan” scenery.
Rafting on the Niyang River, the natural scenery of the densely packed Niyang River islands unfolds like a surrealist painting, and you can also explore the mysteries of the Earth's Deep Throat at the confluence of rivers.

The most convenient place to view the peach blossoms in Nyingchi is along the Niyang River. If you start from the airport and drive along the Linla Highway for a while, you will come into view the Niyang River Yani Wetland. This is where the Niyang River and the Yarlung Zangbo River converge to form a wide delta.

On the east bank of the Niyang River, you can go to the airport, Kasimu Village, Dazi Village, Gala Village, and Bayi Town. You can go to the west bank, Bayi Town, Jiemai Village, and Duodang Village. Gala Taohua Village is located along the 318 National Highway. There are dense peach trees. The peach blossoms here are also the most famous. There are many cars and tourists.

The best viewing spots for peach blossoms on both sides of the Niyang River

Gala Peach Blossom Village: Located in Zhenba Village, Linzhi Town, Linzhi County, 17 kilometers away from Bayi Town, along National Highway 318, there are dense peach trees. If you want to enter the scenic area to see the peach blossoms, you need a 30 yuan ticket.

Dagze Village: Dagze Village is located along the Mirui Highway (on the top of the hill of Yaguodong Village).

From Lhasa to Nyingchi, shortly after crossing the Mila Pass, the Niyang River has been accompanying the 318 National Highway and the Nyingchi-La Highway. Since it is formed by the melting of icebergs and snow, the river water is extremely clear and transparent, exuding a light blue luster, giving people a feeling of sacred purity.

By Nebula Inn |

The Niyang River, also known as the Niyangqu River, flows through the urban area of Nyingchi (Bayi Town) and merges into the Yarlung Zangbo River near Milin County. There are several viewing points on the Niyang River, one is the confluence of rivers, and the other is the viewing point on National Highway 318. The photo shows the Niyang River landscape taken from a high altitude at the Niyang River viewing point on National Highway 318. It is still majestic and magnificent.

From Lhasa to Nyingchi, drive along National Highway 318 and walk along the Nile River. The scenery on the road is beautiful.

By OUT |

Beautiful. I like this kind of scenery. . . . . . . . . . . . .

By O'Connor accompanies his uncle |

The Niyang River is very beautiful, but unfortunately the season is not right, the peach blossoms just faded in May. Even so, the scenery is exceptionally good. It is located at the confluence of the Yarlung Zangbo River and the Niyang River, with a wide view and dreamy light and shadow! You can choose to raft on the Niyang River. The speed is not fast, and you can enjoy the beautiful mountains and rivers of the motherland on the river.

By Kittens don't eat candy |

The Niyang River is blue and beautiful beyond compare. Walking all the way to the confluence of the rivers, the water has different colors, which is extremely spectacular.

By 3 |

The clarity of the Niyang River is in sharp contrast to the Yarlung Zangbo River. The vegetation along the banks is intact and the scenery is charming. The azure blue rivers intersect in the fields. Against the backdrop of the blue sky and snow-capped mountains, it is quiet and leisurely.

Every spring, this place is completely covered in clusters of pink peach blossoms.

By Traveling with a camera |

The Niyang River accompanied us all the way. Where the Niyang River merges into the Yarlung Zangbo River, one river water is clear while the other is turbid, forming a clear and turbid landscape of the confluence of the two rivers that stretches for miles.

By xiaoxiao |

The Niyang River is really beautiful. The water is crystal blue. It flows down the stream and slowly moves forward, as if telling the vicissitudes of life in the past.

By Superdan_pro |

Walking along the Niyang River, you can enjoy the scenery of the Niyang River from all angles. The Yarlung Zangbo River also becomes gentle here.

By Footprints of the Great Forest |

This is the longest scenic spot from Linzhi to Lhasa, and the scenery is still very beautiful

By Tiger Roaring in the Clouds |

The Niyang River is the "mother river" of Nyingchi City, also known as "Niangqu", which means "tears of the goddess" in Tibetan.

By fly |

I personally like this name very much. If the weather is good, this place should be very beautiful. It’s a pity that we can’t see the "mainstay" of the Niyang River.

By Yumi Corn |

The Niyang River is the sad tears shed by the sacred mountain. It was once turbulent and mighty along the way, but it is quiet and peaceful here.

Under the clear sky, changing light and shadows were reflected.

On one side is the clear, emerald Niyang River, and on the other side is the turbid, yellow-gray Yarlung Zangbo River.

I once imagined the scene of the majestic Yarlung Zangbo River swallowing up the Niyang River, but what I see now is truly "gentle as water".

By Flying Devin |

Here the river has washed out a gentle sandbar. The lush grass on both sides of the river has turned slightly yellow. The herdsmen use fences to separate the pastures and plant trees. If it weren't for the dancing prayer flags, you would really think you were in the wetlands of Jiangnan.

By Infinite Heaven and Earth |

There is actually no fixed place to view the scenery of the Niyang River. You can see it everywhere. The place I am talking about is a viewing platform that the locals took us to - the viewing platform at the confluence of rivers. "River" refers to the Yarlung Zangbo River, and "river" refers to the Niyang River. The Niyang River merges into the Yarlung Zangbo River here. But it cannot be searched on the map here. The location on WeChat shows "Gama Village Cinema". Strange, right? But it is true. The key is that many people don't know there is such a place! The route is to walk towards the airport from Linzhi (this is the direction to the south), do not take the airport highway, but take the old road S306 to the airport, about 30 kilometers, and it will take about 40 minutes to arrive. Turn a corner and there is a small house on the side of the road. The viewing platform is on a small mound at the left corner. Below the viewing platform is the highway to Milin Airport. Below is a large golden barley field. The following photos were taken three times. The Niyang River is emerald blue in winter and emerald green in summer. It is really beautiful!

By Fish skin |

The beautiful Niyang River is like a light blue gem necklace, embedded between the mountains. The morning white clouds are like a cage of gauze, gently wrapping around the green hills.

By Waving the flag for life |

The Niyang River flows quietly beside us. Compared with the turbulent Parlung Tsangpo River we saw earlier, it can be described as tranquil. The water is very clean and transparent green.

By Right now |

There are few locals wandering around, and tourists are strolling on the roadside. The water at night is mysterious and quiet. The beautiful scenery of Niyang River is the original reason why I decided to come to Nyingchi. If it were in October, it would be as beautiful as the promotional photos. The people, horses and cows living here are so happy, just like living in heaven.

By Rabdosia rubescens |

Leaving Basongcuo and entering National Highway 318, you will see the Niyang River Valley along the road. The vegetation on both sides of the Niyang River is intact, the scenery is charming, and it is one of the famous rivers on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.

The beauty of the Niyang River lies in its water color, which is like emerald green, and occasionally splashes white waves. Clear, emerald green, and white, these three visual effects are indistinguishably blended together. The Niyang River is the most beautiful river I have ever seen. It is said to be green, but it is neither dark green nor grass green. It is clearly blue, a subtle blue-green color, but with more green. Tibetans worship nature. Their ancestors have used myths to worship the mountains and praise the rivers. This is really a world of beautiful scenery. The rape flowers on the roadside are in full bloom, and it is July now.

By Sheep |

The river flows quietly beside National Highway 318. Compared with the turbulent Parlung Tsangpo River, it can be described as tranquil. The water is very clean and presents a transparent blue color. There are many sandbars in the river, and trees grow directly in the water, giving it a wetland style.

By Sago Snow |

The Niyang River is very beautiful, it is not as desolate as the Tuotuo River, but has the kind of beauty of the south of the Yangtze River. The water flows very fast at one moment, with a turbulent momentum that lasts for thousands of years, and then it flows very slowly, leisurely and without competition with the world.

By Liu Lang Earth |

I passed by here on my way to Suosong Village in Nyingchi. The scenery was perfect.

By Xu Jiali |

Walking along the Niyang River, the water is clear and green. I finally understand why it is called Green Mountains and Green Waters.

The green Niyang River merges into the yellow Yarlung Zangbo River here. When a small boat passes by, it leaves two water marks of completely different colors, which is very interesting.

By cuiguiying |

The clouds are floating around the mountains, as if you can touch them. The Niyang River is also in the clouds, which has a unique flavor.

By Walking people |

This is the most beautiful river on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. It was a gloomy day, but I imagined that if it were a sunny day with light, this place would be incredibly beautiful.

By Ni Zhengyu |

We saw the Niyang River when we left Nyingchi, but it always seemed dull until we went to the confluence of the Niyang River and the Yarlung Zangbo River. The confluence of the rivers made the wetland more abundant and clear, thus forming a large oasis wetland. There is a viewing platform nearby that all tour groups visit, and the most beautiful scenery is on the viewing plank road about 100 meters away, from which you can go down to the oasis and experience the environment of clear water, blue sky and green forests. The clear water reflects the sunny weather, which is so beautiful. There are many herdsmen grazing in this wetland, and you can pick a few tender branches to feed the cows.

By Larain |

If I had to say the most beautiful scenery of this trip, I would vote for the Niyang River without hesitation. The blue sky, white clouds, snow-capped mountains, green trees and clear water are presented so harmoniously before my eyes, with the wild peach blossoms interspersed among them. I think this should be the best annotation of "Jiangnan of Tibet".

By Hitomi |

The scenery is charming and beautiful. The riverbed is winding and sometimes wide and sometimes narrow, and the water changes from deep to shallow, blue and green. This crystal clear blue and green is really appropriate to the Tibetan meaning of "the tears of the goddess".

By China-TravelNote users |

The Niyang River is the upper reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River and has a wetland landscape.

By ぶKirito |

It is also called "Niangqu", which means "tears of the goddess" in Tibetan. It is rare to see a large area of green at such a high altitude.

It's like a landscape painting slowly unfolding in front of you, and a fresh breath blows over you.

By July Summer |

As we all know, the Sichuan-Tibet Highway 318 is a very beautiful self-driving route, but the scenery of the Niyang River along the way has been destroyed because the construction of the highway has turned the green water of the Niyang River into muddy water. This is also a big feeling I have after coming to Tibet. Tibet's environmental protection is too poor. Development is completely at the cost of environmental destruction. Compared with the photos my sister took when she went to Tibet more than ten years ago, I feel that maybe I came too late. The once pure land is now replaced by garbage everywhere.

By wangww |

A very wide canyon river with nice scenery.

By mshan |

We stood on the observation deck and looked down. The mountains were covered with clouds, which made us feel like Switzerland. The air was also good. The Niyang River should have a different view in winter. I have seen the golden view on the Internet, which was also very beautiful.

By A girl |

There is a free black Tibetan pig in Niyang River. According to the melon seller, it and its mother were released here, so no one dares to catch it and eat it. It has become the happiest little local rich man here. Tourists are willing to buy some watermelons to tease it. It is very smart and likes to eat the watermelon with a lot of fillings. It even disdains the empty watermelon.

By Wang Kai Beedo |

Standing on the observation deck, you will see a huge landscape painting. Follow the steps of the observation deck down to the river bank, walk along the shore, feel the Tibetan wind and the Tibetan scenery. What the camera cannot record is recorded in my heart.

By Sirius.L |

The river that feeds the Yarlung Zangbo River, its water volume is second only to the Parlung Zangbo River. The picture below shows the confluence of the Niyang River and the Yarlung Zangbo River.

By Summer |

The Niyang River meanders along the riverbed, and the river surface is sometimes wide, sometimes narrow, sometimes shallow, sometimes deep, depending on the terrain. Sometimes it is blue, sometimes green. People say that the sea is blue. I was born on black soil and have never seen the sea. But when I saw the beautiful Niyang River, it was so crystal clear and blue. The Niyang River redefined my understanding of blue. I can't find out whether you are the tears of the sacred mountain, but I can be sure that you come from the majestic snow-capped mountains.

The Niyang River is full of vitality in spring. The water flows slowly around the high riverbed. The trees on the bank have just sprouted. The yellow, blue and a hint of green in early spring form a picture full of life. The green mountains behind are hidden in the white clouds. It is not the season for peach blossoms to bloom in large areas. When spring comes, the colorful flowers on the river bank will create a picturesque landscape.

Compared with the majestic Yarlung Zangbo River, the Niyang River is beautiful, like a young girl in her primeval years, quietly flowing through the primeval forest from the snow-capped mountains at its source, quietly nourishing the land of Gongbu Jiangda.

As there is very little sand in the river water, the water of Niyang River is clear and pure, like a winding green jade ribbon, or like a giant dragon coming from the high snow-capped mountains, rushing down all the way, passing through the primeval forest and pouring into the Yarlung Zangbo River. In the fusion of rivers, the Niyang River is tinged with a tender yellow color in autumn. Such a beautiful scenery can only be described as the beauty of the scenery of Niyang River with clear water and blue sky, and flying flowers and broken jade intoxicating tourists.

By Xiangzi |

The Niyang River really looks like a jade belt, and its color is rarely seen elsewhere.

By Xiaoju |

This should be it, also called Wetland Park. Unfortunately, there is not much green in winter. I saw many Tibetans circumambulating the mountain. I admire them!

By Love traveling for no reason |

The Niyang River is a very beautiful river, a tributary of the Yarlung Zangbo River. In Tibetan, a river is called "qu" and a lake is called "cuo". The Tibetans call the Niyang River Niyangqu. The car went east along the Lhasa River Valley, gradually going higher and higher, crossing the Mila Pass at an altitude of 5,013 meters, and continued eastward to enter the Niyang River Valley. Mila Mountain is the watershed between the Lhasa River and the Niyang River. There is a landscape in the Niyang River called the mainstay. The rock is like a square seal with a shepherd's belt, the size of a villa, standing in the center of the Niyang River rapids. The river water hits this boulder, splashing a wave, rolling and surging, and rushing away. Tourists all get off here to watch, marvel, and take pictures. There are two views on the discussion and emotion of tourists about this boulder in the water. Some people say that this is the real mainstay, which is unmoved in the stormy waves. Others say it blocks the tide and is out of touch with the times. The Middle Stream Pillar is located in the middle reaches of the Niyang River on the Sichuan-Tibet Road. It is the largest canyon in the Niyang River, with high mountains, deep valleys and fast-flowing rivers. A huge rock stands in the middle of the river, with its back against the Shenfo Mountain. It is said that this huge rock was the seat of Gongzun Demu, the patron saint of the Gongbu area, when he was practicing.

The Niyang River Valley is on the only way from Bayi to Suosong Village. It has a wide river basin and layers of rivers, which is very beautiful. It is also very pleasant to walk along the river.

By Shire |

Niyang River. This is the most beautiful scenery I saw along the way. Everything is peaceful, with the gurgling stream and the sound of ding-dong.

Under the infiltration of river water, there are small oases connected together, which is very cute.

By Wen Xiaojun |

March is the dry season for the Niyang River, with only a dry riverbed and no water.

By 🌻Slowly🌻 |

I didn’t see the black-necked cranes, but I was deeply attracted by the beautiful scenery of the Niyang River: the blue sky, white clouds, snow-capped mountains, villages, peach blossoms, tender willows, river beaches, and blue-green river water. Everything was like a picture scroll.

By li-ran |

By Sunny sky |

We climbed up the hillside next to Taohua Village to save on the entrance fee.

By Yingzi |

The Niyang River in spring is like a long scroll painting. I was completely shocked by the Niyang River Scenic Area. I felt that my mobile phone could not capture the natural beauty of that time. It is a colorful and tranquil beauty.

By Flowing Fire |

The Niyang River originates from Mila Mountain, the last mountain on the way to Lhasa. After crossing it, the road will be smooth. The emerald green river is like the sister lake on Haizi Mountain, pure and natural, and peaceful.

By Xia Yi |

On the way from Nyingchi Taohuagou to the Grand Canyon, I saw the most beautiful section of the Niyang River, which was also my favorite scenery of this trip to Tibet.

By ali |

It's not the best time, but it's good enough. I didn't expect there is such a wetland in Tibet.

By rosekarry |

Driving from Gala Taohua Village to the Grand Canyon, we first pass the Niyang River Bend. The Niyang River Bend is very spectacular. Although it has abundant water, the land is still seriously desertified. The sand blowing from the foot of the mountain in the distance is clearly visible. In order to prevent desertification, many trees have been planted nearby.

By balderdash |

We stopped to rest when we arrived at the confluence of the Niyang River and the Yarlung Zangbo River. Standing on the observation deck and looking into the distance, the Niyang River is clear, the sandbanks are scattered, and the cattle and sheep are dotted in between, presenting a beautiful pastoral scenery, which is so beautiful that it cannot be described in words.

By Zhou Xiaomin |

Very spectacular, open and beautiful!!!

By Elegant gluttony |

You can see the river on the bus to Nyingchi. It is late winter now, so the water is not big and it is not spectacular, but the water is very clear. I believe it will be very beautiful in the right season. I originally wanted to go along National Highway 318 to the location of Niyangqu shown on Gaode Map, but I found that the river still did not have much water, so I retreated. This section of the river to Bomi is suitable for self-driving and appreciation along the way.

Driving from Lhasa to Nyingchi, after crossing the Mila Pass, you will enter the Niyang River Basin. The climate in the Niyang River Basin is mild, which is completely different from Lhasa. The most beautiful scenery is on the roadside. It is recommended to drive or charter a car. I didn't feel tired all day in the car and couldn't bear to take a nap.

By yolanda |

The hotel we chose is right by the Niyang River, which can be seen directly from the room. It is very beautiful. After dinner, we took a walk by the river, which was very comfortable, but it is best to bring a hat and not wear too little to avoid catching a cold. It is still a bit cold at night.

By Butterfly Love Flower |

The mother river of Nyingchi, the lake water is very beautiful with many colors. It basically runs through the entire Nyingchi and merges with the Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon, forming a spectacle of two colors. The Niyang River in autumn is rich in layers and is the most beautiful season.

By goblin |

I went to see the scenery of the Niyang River. It was really beautiful. The light was just right. They really should build a plank road so that people can hike there. It was really beautiful here. There were rivers, trees, distant mountains, and oxen.

By There are fine trees in Nanfang |

It is recommended to go there when the weather is good. The waters of the two rivers do not merge, and this kind of scenery is not available everywhere.

By Watching Flowers on the Road |

The Niyang River is so clear that you can see the bottom. When you reach the river, you don’t want to take another step. You just want to find a place where you can be free and daydream. The pebbles in the river are white and round. Taking a rest for half a day, you will feel as if life is a dream. This is one of my favorite places in Tibet, and I will definitely go there again in the future.
