The road itself is a scene, and you can enjoy the fun of driving in danger; then to the Kuche section, the road is no longer dangerous, but the scenery is beautiful all the way! There are also many parking spaces, where you can stop to enjoy and take pictures. There are also scenic spots worth seeing along the way, such as Nalati, Bayinbuluke, and Kuche Grand Canyon. It is recommended that you drive by yourself if you have mountain driving skills, including a tour of the scenic spots for more than 4 days. If you just want to enjoy the road scenery, it is recommended to fill up the car with gas and start from Dushanzi or Kuche early in the morning to avoid driving on the mountain road at night. After all, the road is dangerous and the scenery is beautiful. There is basically no signal on the mobile phone along the way, and there are no gas stations on the roadside.

Duku Highway is a highway from Dushanzi to Kuche. It is 561 kilometers long and connects southern and northern Xinjiang. It stretches across mountains and valleys, connecting many ethnic minority settlements. Its completion has shortened the distance between southern and northern Xinjiang by nearly half from the original 1,000 kilometers, and it can be regarded as a monument in the history of China's highway construction.

In order to build this highway, tens of thousands of officers and soldiers fought for 10 years, and 168 of them sacrificed their precious lives.

I'm not being pretentious. Only by experiencing it will you know that when we are driving on this road, looking at how such a steep and dangerous mountain can create such a heavenly road, we will really be deeply grateful and remember the soldiers who paid their blood, sweat and even their lives for this.

After entering the highway, we first passed a vast grassland, and then entered a mountainous area. The altitude here is not too high, the mountain road is tortuous, and the brown rocks on the mountain are full of traces of time, telling the long history of this place. While driving on the road, we can faintly see white snow on the top of the distant mountain.

Sometimes you will come across herdsmen grazing their cattle and sheep on motorcycles or horses. The cattle and sheep seem to be strolling leisurely on the road. Not only do they not take the passing vehicles seriously, some of them even engage in indecent acts without scruples.

Duku Highway, from Kuitun Dushanzi District to Kuche, is 561 kilometers long and connects southern and northern Xinjiang. Its connection has shortened the distance between southern and northern Xinjiang by nearly half from the original 1,000 kilometers. In the endless Tianshan Mountains, the winding highway rises from north to south along the main and tributary rivers of the Kuitun River to the depths of the Tianshan Mountains. One side is next to the mountain and the other side faces the river. There is a rushing river between the mountains and a gentle grassland on the hillside. The sun shines on the grassland, covering the grassland with a layer of golden color. Shepherds fenced their sheep with stones and wooden fences, lit firewood in the yurt, and the smoke from cooking slowly rose... This kind of plateau pastoral song always caught our eyes inadvertently along the way, making our thoughts full of poetry. Of course, the charm of the Duku Highway is not purely poetry and distance, its steepness and grandeur are the second annotation of its charm. More than half of the Duku Highway passes through high mountains and deep valleys, and along the way it passes through the Hashilegenda Pass Highway Tunnel with the highest altitude; there is also a 100-meter snow-proof corridor on the highway, which can prevent the avalanche of snow on the cliff from falling into the deep ditch beside the highway, which is a unique scene. In order to build this highway, tens of thousands of soldiers fought for 10 years, and 168 of them sacrificed their precious lives. Following the guidance of the geology students on the bus, I looked over and saw that there were dots on the steep cliffs in the distance. It turned out that goats were foraging, which was amazing! Forests, rivers, hillside yurts, sheep flocks and horses that can be seen everywhere, the Duku Highway encompasses most of the scenery that can be appreciated in daily life, and it is breathtaking!

Standing here, I was thinking about the Duku Highway. Fortunately, we got in before the road was closed. My biggest wish for this trip to Xinjiang is to feel the beauty of this beautiful highway. Thank you.

The beauty is breathtaking. All the hard work is worth it at this moment. Pictures will never be as shocking as standing in front of it. I am very happy and moved. Although there was a small accident here, with the smart master Chen and the eloquent little mouth of our lovely wind team, we passed Beiduku safely without any danger. And because of a small accident, I was lucky enough to drive a section of Duku Highway. Driving in the snow is really extraordinary.

The southern section of Duku Highway is a road that is so dangerous that it makes people feel daunted, but so beautiful that it makes people feel breathtaking. The road at the foot of Tianshan Mountain is so dangerous, but the scenery along the way is so beautiful that people always go there without hesitation.

Driving on the Duku Highway, you can enjoy the unique scenery of "different weather every ten miles, four seasons in one day", which is amazing! However, it takes luck to pass through. It is open from June to October and will be closed in special weather.

Because I was with my children, for safety reasons, I didn’t complete the entire Duku journey this time, which is a bit regrettable.

Continuing forward, we met cyclists on the road again. I really admire their courage. In front of us is the standard building of Duku Highway, the snow-proof corridor. The first section of the northern section of the Duku Highway is relatively flat, without any big winding bends, and the ups and downs are relatively gentle. It mainly walks in the valley. There are relatively few trees on both sides of the road, and the mountains appear rather desolate. Continuing forward, you will gradually see some clear streams and scattered trees in the canyon, showing the beauty of autumn.

Continue forward, and a waterfall will appear in front of you. This is the Tianpu waterfall on the Duku Highway. The two big red characters of Tianpu are very eye-catching on the cliff. The clear mountain stream rushes down, forming a beautiful landscape. But you must pay attention to safety when taking photos at Tianpu. The rocks beside the waterfall are steep and the water is turbulent. There have been cases where tourists fell into the water and died while taking photos.

Continuing forward, as the mountains became higher and higher, the roads became more and more precipitous, the snow became thicker and thicker, and the peaks along the road gradually presented the scenery of snow-capped mountains. At the top of the mountain, from the north entrance of the Hashileghen Tunnel to the exit of the snow prevention corridor, ice and snow began to appear on the road. Be sure to pay attention to safety when driving on this road.

After passing Qiorma, we continued to head towards Nalati Town, and the scenery gradually became green and forested.

The Duku Highway is a highlight of our entire trip. It feels like the Potala Palace to Lhasa. It is so mysterious and sacred, and it makes people yearn for it.

The Duku Highway runs from Dushanzi to Kuche, connecting southern Xinjiang with northern Xinjiang. It stretches across mountains and valleys, connecting many ethnic minority settlements. In Qiaoerma, where the Duku Highway passes, a "Qiaoerma" Martyrs Cemetery was built to commemorate the 168 martyrs who died on this heroic road due to avalanches, mudslides and other reasons during the construction of the road.

The highest point is about 4,000 meters above sea level. Looking around, it looks like a kingdom of ice and snow. It is so magnificent!

When we finally drove out of the Duku Highway, we felt relieved but reluctant to leave, and said goodbye without words.

Starting from the oil refining town of Dushanzi, I embarked on the road of life that I had longed to embark on - the Duku Highway! I have long worshiped the four words "Duku Highway". The weather can be different every few miles. It was raining on my head, but the sun was shining brightly not far ahead. There were countless bends. The higher the altitude, the more green it was. When I stepped into this simple gate, I was truly on the Duku Highway. I was particularly excited at the thought of crossing the Tianshan Mountains. In front of the distant mountains, we were so small. This season was past summer. When I first entered, I felt that both sides were very desolate and the colors were a bit autumnal. As I walked up slowly, I really felt that the weather could be different every ten miles. The Duku Highway is not an ordinary road. It is a miraculous road that crosses mountains and ridges, crossing nearly 10 major rivers in the Tianshan Mountains and 4 high-altitude passes with snow all year round. The road is closed from October to May of the following year, so there are a lot of people when it is unblocked. Now more and more people go there every year. There are many more parking places in Duku than on the Yizhao Highway, but there are still traffic jams. The parking places are not big, and it will cause a traffic jam if 10 or so cars are parked. Passing through the Tielimaiti Pass at an altitude of 3,700 meters in Tianshan Mountain, I personally think that the most amazing scenery of this Duku Highway is from here to the top of the mountain. The most beautiful place has to be climbed by yourself. The scenery on the top of the mountain changes in an instant, and you can see different styles every few minutes. The southern section of the Duku Highway is not as beautiful as the northern section, but it is also magnificent.

Cross the Daban Pass and set foot on the most precipitous heroic road - the Duku Highway. The winding road goes all the way up and around. On this road, you will see wild flowers blooming on both sides of the road, rivers rushing down in the valleys, herds of cattle and sheep walking on the road, and patches of white snow attached to the peaks or ravines. Of course, the quicksand formed by wind erosion along the way will definitely open your eyes. This is the scenery of four seasons in one day. After driving for about 3.5 hours, the car arrived at the intersection of the Duku Highway and the Yiqiao Highway that crosses the Tianshan Mountains - Qiaoerma, where you can see the Qiaoerma Monument and stop to visit the Martyrs Cemetery.

The Duku Highway was carved out of the mountains to shorten the distance between southern and northern Xinjiang. It is known as the most beautiful highway in China and is the highway that the veteran driver Guigui is most looking forward to during our trip.

Maybe it was because we had too high expectations for the Duku Highway, so when we actually drove on this road and looked around for a while, we found that the scenery we saw was not even as good as what we saw yesterday when we crossed the snow-capped mountains, and we felt a great sense of loss.

Perhaps we didn’t drive to the most beautiful section of the road, and now is not the most beautiful season, we can only comfort ourselves in this way. However, although the scenery is not as beautiful as imagined, the difficulties and obstacles in the construction of this road can be seen. What is meant by "a road carved out of the mountain"? Almost all the roads we drove along the way were embedded in the mountain with the naked eye. The difficulty of carving, and the landslides, snow avalanches, and mudslides that are easily caused after carving the mountain, are all imaginable.

It seems that the reason why the Duku Highway is called the most beautiful highway in China is that its scenery is the most beautiful. This is indeed a matter of opinion, but when people evaluate it in this way, they must have strong emotions in their hearts, because this 560-kilometer road took 9 years to build and was built at the cost of the precious lives of 168 road construction officers and soldiers. Therefore, when passing by the Qorma Martyrs Cemetery, one can't help but bow silently in front of the Duku Highway Monument.

Although the journey is not long, we basically spend the whole day on the road and the whole route is winding. The road conditions are very good on sunny days, but there are a lot of bends. It feels like we have taken countless turns in one day.

There were sand and stones that broke through the fence. The traces of quicksand on the hillside were still clear. After the quicksand, it was followed by falling rocks. After entering the deep mountains, the deep sorrow is still vivid.

Duku Highway is a road I particularly like. I have heard about it before. You can feel the changes of four seasons on one road. There are alpine grasslands on both sides of the road. The dots on the green carpet are sheep grazing. The sheep grazing on the steep places, my God, I feel like they are going to slide down, but they are still chewing grass leisurely. There are several yurts where there are rivers. There are fires in front of the door, and they are busy with milking horses and killing sheep. Duku Highway is a must for many friends who go to Xinjiang for self-driving. In just over 500 kilometers, it covers almost all of Xinjiang, including snow-capped mountains, meadows, forests, canyons, rivers, Yadan, donkey carts, bazaars... You need to taste its charm yourself.

It seems that the only way to drive on the Duku Highway is by yourself!!! You can rent a car to experience this section of the road. If you are a novice, it is safer to find a reliable old driver to take you. There is no big danger on the road, but there are four speed cameras at the starting point of the Duku Highway and the section to Nalati... Everyone should be careful not to exceed the speed limit~

I'm glad that I followed my brother's footsteps and rented a car to experience spring, summer, autumn and winter in one day. It was really beautiful. The previous second there were flowers and green grass all over the mountains, and when I turned a corner, there was a scene of snow-capped mountains, dry grass and heavy snow. On the Duku Highway, we felt the magic of ice and fire, and got to know the daily life of Kazakh nomads up close. We have to admit that the Duku Highway is beautiful, with beautiful grasslands, towering snow-capped mountains, and the famous 100-meter snow-proof corridor. The Duku Highway is indeed a must-visit place worth recommending, but we would like to make a special statement here that we do not recommend you to follow our night trip to Duku. Although the road on the Duku Highway is so easy for Chongqing veteran drivers, the risk of landslides and falling rocks is huge. For safety reasons, the Duku Highway was closed to the public the day after we crossed the Duku Highway, so crossing the Duku Highway requires not only courage but also luck.

If you come to Xinjiang, you must run the Duku Highway once. Even if we didn't finish the whole run, we still experienced the different scenery from the bottom of the mountain to the top of the mountain. It was a great sense of accomplishment to run the Duku Highway.

Full score 5 stars. It is fun to play in the snow in summer. It is recommended to climb the snow mountain for at least 3 hours.

It will be very cold on the top of the mountain unless it is sunny, so you should bring a coat even on sunny days.

When climbing a snowy mountain, never walk on the snow! Because there are rocks under the snow, it is very dangerous. You must walk on the rocks without snow.

From Qorma, we went up the mountain again, and some photos of the snow-capped mountains were taken at the top of the mountain.

There is a parking space next to the cave on the top of the mountain. From here, you can walk inside and climb the snow mountain by yourself.

We decided to climb the snow mountain on a whim. There was no road and it was just rocks. There was also a beautiful Love Lake on the top of the mountain.

I took advantage of the two-day weekend to travel along the Duku Highway. The scenery along the way was magnificent. The four seasons of spring, summer, autumn and winter changed in front of my eyes. Sometimes it was full of spring, sometimes it was cold and windy. There were many beautiful scenery that could not be described in any exaggerated words. As the saying goes, if you haven't been to Xinjiang, you don't know how big China is. I think if you don't go to Duku, you don't know the beauty of Xinjiang. This trip was really worthwhile!



Practical tips:

There are still a lot of people traveling on the Duku Highway during the peak season, so be sure to travel during off-peak hours. Basically, all your time on the Duku Highway is spent on the road, but the most beautiful scenery is also on the road. Also, be sure to fill up your gas tank before setting off, otherwise if you refuel on the Duku Highway, there will be so many people that you will have to wait in line for at least an hour.

The scenery along the way is diverse and colorful, you will fall in love with it once you go there.

The Duku Highway goes all the way south, crossing high mountains and steep cliffs, and passing through deep valleys. It drizzled during the drive, and the misty scenery was very beautiful. It is definitely worth a visit.

The southern section of Duku Highway is a completely different scene after the snow. On the road, it feels like being in a Jiangnan ink painting, full of poetry and painting, and I feel very happy.

Today I once again witnessed the precipitousness and beauty of the Duku Highway, which is the dedication of generations of road builders and road protectors! The section from Kuqa to Bayinbuluke is the Kuqa section of the most beautiful highway in Xinjiang, the Duku Highway, passing through the Yadan landform, the mysterious Tianshan Grand Canyon scenic area, and the Big and Small Dragon Pond viewing platforms. After traveling along the Sichuan-Tibet Highway 318, the beauty of this section refreshed my perception of the most beautiful highway. When we were ready to go down the mountain, the clouds floating in the distance were already overcast, and it started to drizzle in an instant, and the sleet spread out like this, and for a while we entered the foggy area. The way down the mountain, although the vegetation was sparse and the scenery was not as beautiful as the way up the mountain, it was still magnificent everywhere. (The next day, a friend who also drove from Beijing to Xinjiang told me on WeChat in Nalati Town that the Duku Highway was closed...) We were still very lucky and successfully crossed.

Duku Highway, as the name implies, is a highway connecting Dushanzi District in the north and Kuche County in the south. It crosses the Tianshan Mountains and is more than 500 kilometers long. Sure enough, soon there was a long uphill road, and the river gradually moved away from us, leaving only a deep canyon.

However, once we climbed over the hill, the scenery suddenly changed, and we saw a huge, boundless plain. All the mountains seemed to disappear in the distance, and the only road stretched straight out as if it had no end. We both marveled at the magnificent scenery in front of us. This was the first change we experienced on the Duku Highway.

It was sunset at this moment, and the low light made the empty road look layered, deep and three-dimensional. In such a scenery, my mind suddenly became open, and my body seemed to merge with everything in front of me.

We continued to head south. Although the weather was a little gloomy, it could not hide the beauty of the Duku Highway.

As we continued to move forward, the scenery gradually changed again, and this time even the weather changed significantly. The plain gradually rose in altitude, and then turned into a continuous stretch of mountain tops. As the altitude rose, the temperature also dropped, and the snow-capped mountains seemed to be within reach. This was the second change we experienced on the Duku Highway.

There was no vegetation on the hillside, and the exposed rocks showed signs of rain and mountain torrents. We were very nervous when driving on the winding mountain road, fearing that there would be falling rocks or potholes blocking the road. I kept my eyes and ears open, observing all directions as much as possible to avoid possible dangers. But I have to say that the scenery is still beautiful - a kind of steep, vigorous and majestic beauty.

I never thought I would have the chance to set foot on this road before I set out! I was lucky enough to take this trip before the road was completely closed this year! It takes more than 500 kilometers and 9 hours to drive from Bayinbuluke back to Urumqi

The beginning section was nothing special, just a few more bends, but the road condition was pretty good. The further we went, the more its charm became apparent. The altitude was getting higher and higher, and we were getting closer and closer to the snow-capped mountains. Slowly, the snow-capped mountains were under our feet, and as we drove forward, we were completely surrounded by the snow-capped mountains. I got off the car and reached out to touch the snow on the ground. Although I was born in the north and am very familiar with snow, it was also extremely exciting to be able to touch the snow on the Tianshan Mountains, so much so that I jumped up to take pictures.

In this deep mountain, there is not only a flat road, but also a small lake. There is a thin layer of ice on the edge of the lake. I didn't dare to touch the lake water because I thought it would be very cold.

If you continue walking forward, you will find a hidden waterfall here. The cascading water makes this quiet mountain full of vitality.

We walked two sections of the Duku Highway. One section started from Dushanzi and ended at Nalati. The other section started from Nalati and ended at Bayinbuluke. Of course, the first section was more amazing. The Duku Highway is really the most beautiful highway in China. Along the way, there are Gobi oases, continuous mountains, magnificent glaciers, beautiful forests, grasslands, and alpine lakes. There are so many elements that it is dazzling. When we were about to drive off the highway and reach Bayinbuluke, the road suddenly became straight, and a tall snow-capped mountain stood in front of us, which was very spectacular!

Although the sky was not good, it was still stunning, especially the autumn lake view in the snow and the blue in the afterglow.

The beauty of Duku Highway should be ranked first among domestic highways. The most beautiful part should be the southern section, which is more colorful.

When we reached the highest point of the northern section, it started to snow lightly. The altitude here has reached 3,490 meters. After getting off the car, we could have close contact with the snow on the roadside.

Fortunately, we arrived at the entrance of Duku Highway on time at 1pm. The management staff smiled and said: You are so lucky. If you were one minute later, the car would not be allowed to enter. Because Duku Highway is quite steep, it is not allowed to pass at night, so there are time limits for entry at each entrance. We calculated that we must reach the safe area before dark. The entry time of Xinyuan entrance is before 1pm. So lucky.

The danger of Duku Highway is obviously greater than that of Yizhao Highway. As we wind our way up the mountain, my ears start to sense the altitude. We are already at 3,200 meters. The vegetation has become sparse and the mountains are covered with snow. We are crossing the snow-capped mountains.
