Probably because of the strong wind, most people who come to the desert usually play in crowded places in the scenic area, and very few people go into the heart of the desert. Walking in the desert is very tiring, and even a small hillside makes you breathless.

As we went deeper into the desert, there were no more tourists. As the sun set, the desert was filled with yellow sand and the forests were dyed red. As the sun set, the sky gradually darkened. We rushed back in the desert with the whistling wind in our ears, catching the last shuttle bus to the scenic area. When I bought the ticket, I found that I could only pay in cash!! Mr. Zheng and I were too confident and thought that we could drive through that short sandy road, so we got stuck directly. As a result... Sand sliding is really exciting, but climbing up is too tiring, so I gave up after trying it once. Also, you must pay attention to safety, because when you slide down from a very high tunnel, you can't control the direction or brake at all, so you must be steady. I couldn't control my direction halfway through the slide and turned 360 degrees. I also twisted my neck (the past is too painful to recall...), and my neck hurt for several days

The best time to play in the desert is from 5pm to before sunset. This time is enough to have fun without being too hot.

Small experience: 1. If you go to the Kumtag Desert, it is best to stay overnight in Shanshan County, so that you can play in the desert until night and then watch the desert sunset and the desert Milky Way in the desert. 2. We only bought Line 1 for the shuttle bus and went to the first stop, Happy Sand Valley. We always thought that the sun was about to set and there was no time to play the entertainment projects (the entertainment projects currently opened in the scenic area include sand karts, camel riding adventures and sand sliding, which we have not had time to play yet.) In fact, now that I think about it, we could take a sand kart to the top of the mountain, watch the sunset, and then slide down. It is said that this kart is quite exciting. We originally said that we would climb to the top of the mountain to watch the sunset, but we gave up before we got to one-third of the way because it was too difficult to climb.

Compared with the Mingsha Mountain in Dunhuang, the sand in Kumtag is finer, and there are always many places where there are no footprints. Although the desert is very close to the city, this primitive feeling always creates the illusion of being in the heart of the desert. Perhaps it is because of the season, the sand in the desert does not feel hot, and you can take off your shoes and walk around every corner without worry. I even heard that the sand in Kumtag contains mineral components, and stepping on it has a therapeutic effect. However, walking in the desert is like swimming. The harder you push your feet, the deeper you sink. You often climb three steps and take one step back. So climbing the sand mountain is not easy, and you can understand why it takes so much effort and time to see the distance not far. In my opinion, the lines of the Kumtag desert have a strong sense of hierarchy, and it will present different colors of scenery as the light changes. The most beautiful thing is that every time the sun sets in the west, the whole desert will present a scene of red sand mountains under the reflection of the setting sun. The desert closest to the city is right outside the gate. Because we went there in the afternoon when the sun was about to set, we could still see the scene of the desert with smoke rising straight up and the setting sun over the long river. We drove into the desert in a car, which drove very fast. The wind was strong and refreshing. The sand inside was very soft and fine, and it was very comfortable to step on.

We arrived at Kumtagh at 17:00, but it was too hot, so we had to wait until 18:00 to enter the scenic area. The sun was still scorching, and the sand was still hot, but the desert surfing car was very exciting, and the sunset in the desert was very charming.

Winter is the off-season. There are almost no people in the desert and many activities are stopped. We took a car to the innermost part of the desert. There are only two activities: desert motorcycle and sandboard. In the end, the three of us chose the sandboard for 30 yuan without hesitation because of poverty. Going off-road in the desert is a bit wild and exciting! Because of the ups and downs of the desert's terrain, I was really excited sitting in the first row.

I took off my shoes and slowly felt the sand under my feet. It was very smooth and didn't sting my feet at all. It was much better than the sand at the beach. I walked forward along everyone's footprints. My feet were stuck in the sand and I couldn't walk fast. I could only move forward step by step, but this feeling was also very good. We bought tickets at the scenic spot and chose to drive into the desert by ourselves. The total cost of Kumtag ticket and self-driving car ticket was 420. The car got stuck as soon as we entered, and we still had no experience in desert driving.

As far as the eye can see, there are endless winding and undulating sand dunes. We took a speeding sand-bashing vehicle and crossed the nearly vertical sand dunes like a dream. The level of pleasure was comparable to that of a roller coaster.

The Kumtag Desert is just across the city, like a large desert scenic spot in the city center. There are not many people, and you can capture the sense of loneliness by just walking around.

When you arrive at the place, the tour guide will recommend you to take an off-road vehicle for a tour. Some of the vehicles have a 100-meter route to climb over one mountain, and some have a 150-meter route to climb over two mountains. We chose neither and climbed up by ourselves. It was really tiring, but the "Sand Top" is still very beautiful. The higher you go, the fewer people there are, and there is no pressure to take pictures.

You have to take a small train to enter and exit the scenic area. When you leave, the train will take you on a different route, running through the desert. The sand along the way is basically untouched, and every shot you take is a blockbuster. Tip: The train runs very fast, so the shutter speed of the camera must keep up.

The Kumtag Desert is a desert that is close to the city. It is the best choice to use it as a base when returning to Urumqi. The ticket price is 30 yuan, and the shuttle bus to the scenic area is 65 yuan/person. I heard some tourists say that they can enter the park by car for 300 yuan/car. I don’t know if it is true. If you need to take a car to go into the desert, you need to buy a section ticket (Line 1 + Line 2) and spend another 65. It is recommended that you buy a section ticket so that you can see the more shocking scenery inside. Of course, the stations inside are also more commercialized, with various spending projects. Since my companions couldn't resist the temptation and wanted to experience the desert flying car (150 yuan/person), first it was more exciting, and secondly, you could take pictures at the highest point, otherwise it would be really challenging to walk up, because it was very hot and your feet were almost baked. The flying car was really cool. After reaching the highest point, we stayed there quietly for more than two hours. Of course, we also took some photos. It is recommended that you bring a pair of socks to prevent your feet from being burned. After the end, our feet were already burned and painful.

Having been to Shapotou and Mingsha Mountain, which is also in Kumtag, this tourist area is really not exciting anymore. If you have never played in the sand, it is also a good choice to ride an off-road vehicle, slide on the sand, or ride a camel. I heard that the Haohan Pot in Kumtag is a must-go place for many off-road enthusiasts, which really made me happy.
