Listening to the melodious pastoral songs coming from afar, the grassland makes people feel the vastness of the world and the long years. When the wind blows, people seem to be floating on the sea. When you stretch out your hand, you seem to be able to touch the blue sky and white clouds, and the birds and flowers are close at hand, which is better than heaven on earth.

From a distance, the Nalati grassland is covered with green grass, and the green grass sways in the wind, like a surging green ocean. It is said that in July every year, all kinds of wild flowers bloom all over the hills and grass slopes on the Nalati grassland, colorful. As the sun sets, the Nalati grassland, which has been bustling all day, suddenly becomes quiet. Are urban people no longer familiar with the comfort and calmness here?

Nalati Grassland, also known as Gongnaisi Grassland, means "Bai Yang Slope" in Turkic. It is located in the east of Nalati Town, Xinyuan, about 110.0 kilometers away from Xinyuan County, Yili. It is located on the northern slope of Nalati Mountain and is a mid-mountain grassland developed on the ancient alluvial layer of the Tertiary Period.

Nalati Grassland is a subalpine meadow plant area, one of the four largest grasslands in the world. It has been a famous pasture since ancient times. The beautiful grassland scenery combined with the local Kazakh folk customs has made it a famous tourist resort in Xinjiang.

Nalati Scenic Area is a national AAAAA-level tourist scenic area, one of the top ten scenic areas in Xinjiang, and a tourist scenic area in the autonomous region. It is an important scenic spot and brand in Xinjiang, and also a famous brand of the Ili River Valley in the country.

Like Kalajun, Nalati Grassland is also a 5A-level scenic spot, but Nalati is more famous.

There are two tourist routes in Nalati, one is the aerial grassland and the other is the forest park, and there are shuttle buses to each route.

When coming to Nalati, tourists usually choose the Sky Grassland.

The shuttle bus circled up along the rugged mountain road. We were not idle in the bus either. We took pictures of the scenery along the way with cameras in our hands, wondering what kind of sky grassland was waiting for us.

At a pass, looking forward along the road, you can see a large grassland at the foot of the snow-capped mountains lined up in a row.

I guess, after crossing this pass, we will reach the Nalati Sky Grassland!

Only when I arrived at the Nalati Grassland did I truly feel its size and vastness.

Afterwards, we really experienced the feeling of "running a dead horse to the mountain" here.

Because it takes more than an hour to walk in each direction from the shuttle bus stop to the depths of the grassland.

Nalati grassland is a subalpine meadow with many varieties of grasses and associated grasses.

It is autumn now. Although most of the grass on the grassland has turned yellow, there are still many green grasses.

Even the withered grass has different shades of yellow, and there is even some reddish yellow.

The same is true for green grass, which can be either emerald green or yellowish green. This yellowish green is not the color of fresh grass and dead grass, but the grass itself is a tender yellowish green.

Just look at the fat and strong cows and chubby sheep on the grassland, and you will know how lush and rich the Nalati Grassland is!

The cattle and sheep were grazing silently, and the Nalati grassland seemed even more vast and boundless.

Occasionally, tourists would ride by on horseback accompanied by herdsmen. The screams on horseback and the sound of horse hooves immediately added a touch of warm atmosphere to the quiet grassland.

We chose to drive in the scenic area. We can drive into the scenic area, but we must stay in the scenic area. After settling in, we drove into the Nalati Scenic Area. We were amazed and took photos along the way. Beside a small river, a Kazakh herdsman was baking naan. Brother Dazi was very excited and volunteered to help. However, the naan was not cooked until it was almost dark, so he had to leave with drooling.

When you are in the endless green grassland, there are clear and joyful springs flowing in the valley, the grassland is full of leisurely cattle and horses, and there are large tracts of fir trees on the hillside in the distance, forming an exquisite oil painting under the blue sky and white clouds. The Kazakh herdsman saw me holding the camera and taking pictures of him from a distance. When I got close, he raised his hand and greeted me very kindly. Thumbs up for you! Today, the Nalati Grassland is the place where Kazakhs live most densely. The Kazakhs are warm, friendly and kind, and make a living by grazing. The local Ili horses are tall and handsome, and it is unknown whether they have the bloodline of Wusun BMW. During the tour, a team of Kazakh forest police passed by. Seeing us holding cameras, they stopped and lined up for us to take pictures. The young female police were so handsome. The local young herdsmen mostly drove motorcycles to graze, which was another scene. It can be said to keep pace with the times. According to local herdsmen, June and July every summer are the most beautiful seasons in the area. The grasslands and hillside pastures are full of various wild flowers, lush grass and water, and herds of cattle and horses.

Nalati Grassland is a great place for horseback riding. The Kazakhs are known as a nation on horseback. It was great to ride horses with them on the grassland. My horseback riding teacher was a kid. The blue sky and white clouds, the snow fir trees standing alone, the horses eating grass leisurely on the vast grassland, a pastoral song of the alpine mountains. Many travel agencies' buses go to Nalati Grassland, and the commercial atmosphere is still quite strong. We avoided the crowd and walked to the herdsmen's house far away, communicated with gestures, and then had lunch at the herdsmen's house. There were no stools, so the herdsmen took out his most precious wool mats for us to sit on.

Nalati Grassland is a high mountain grassland, with snow-capped mountains in the distance, white yurts nearby, and herds of horses and sheep. The grass is green, the streams are gurgling, and horses, cattle and sheep are leisurely foraging and playing on the big meadow. Standing on the hillside and looking down, the grassland is endless, and the mountains on both sides slowly stretch towards the grassland. If I hadn't continued to move forward, I would have liked to stay in the herdsmen's home for a few days, doing nothing but eating, riding horses, and basking in the sun. Just think about how comfortable that life would be.

For Nalati Grassland, National Day is the off-season. The most beautiful season is summer. The mountains are green, dotted with beautiful flowers, and there are herds of cattle and sheep. Just thinking about the picture is great. However, although Nalati Grassland in autumn is not as beautiful as in summer, it also has a unique flavor. After eighteen bends in the mountain road, we reached the top of the mountain. It was the first time in Xinjiang that we came into such close contact with the snow-capped mountains. There was a hint of coolness in the air, which was refreshing.

I checked a lot of information before leaving, and most of them said that Narat was more commercialized and boring than Kalajun. In addition, the grassland is seasonal, so we didn't have high expectations when we came here, because the annual pass was free. After entering, I found it interesting.

The shuttle bus stop ahead was really boring. I thought that due to seasonality, we would see yellow grasslands, but as we entered the primeval forest, the desktop scenery of cattle and sheep in the wind-blown grass appeared before our eyes.

The Nalati Scenic Area is very large, and there are shuttle buses and self-driving options. Four hours was not enough for us.

Follow the navigation address to the scenic spot ticket office to buy tickets, but the scenic spot and the ticket office are not at the same entrance. After buying the ticket, you have to return to the road and drive forward for a while to reach the entrance of the scenic spot. If you are not sure, you can ask the security guard at the door.

Maybe because the scenic area is too large, many signs are not clear. Although we had a map, we still couldn't figure out where was where after wandering around, and we wasted a lot of time.

If time permits, we would choose to stay near Nalati, so that we can have more time to play and don’t have to drive more than 4 hours back to Yining City.

Nalati Grassland, a casual shot looks like a windows background... It is completely different from the grasslands we saw in the northwest before.

When we were at the top of the mountain, we saw two mountain sanitation workers lying on the wooden plank road beside the grass, taking a nap in the sun.

Nalati Grassland is very large, it is recommended to enter by car, so that you can have more freedom in your trip. Panlong Ancient Road is worth a visit, but only off-road vehicles can go with it, and commercial vehicles are not allowed to enter.

Nalati is so beautiful that you must drive to experience it. The self-driving ticket must be purchased on the WeChat applet.

I especially recommend Panlong Valley Road, which is the most beautiful place. It feels like being in Switzerland. The snow-capped mountains in the distance and the grasslands nearby form a beautiful painting.

There are also Kazakh friends here who can take us horseback riding. Their horses are very well behaved, very stable to sit on, and the price is not expensive.

Nalati is the most representative grassland scenic spot in Yili Prefecture, which means "the place where the sun is seen first". The grasslands melted by ice and snow are full of vitality, and wild flowers are blooming everywhere. There is still snow on the top of the beautiful mountain peaks, and the colors of the earth are more colorful. Nalati is the grassland with the largest number of Kazakhs. We can also learn about the living conditions of the Kazakhs here. We can take the shuttle bus of the aerial grassland line of the tourist center and visit in order: Tianjie Terrace, Tianmu Terrace, Nomadic Home, Tiancheng Terrace, and Snow Lotus Valley.

Nalati can be mainly divided into: Sky Grassland, River Valley Grassland, and Panlong Valley Road. These three attractions can be reached by car from the tourist center, among which Sky Grassland is the most famous attraction.

The vast majority of tourists visit both the Sky and River Meadows, or just the Sky Meadows.

We plan to visit the aerial grassland and river valley grassland, the ticket price is 159 yuan.



At the end of the Sky Grassland, you can also buy a shuttle ticket to the Snow Lotus Valley for 60 yuan.

One of the best things about Nalati is that there are plenty of buses to the scenic area. Although there are many tourists, the waiting time for the bus is very short.

But compared with other scenic spots in Xinjiang such as Kalajun, Sailimu Lake and Qiaxi, the scenery of Kalajun is relatively plain, but it has more complete services in the scenic area.

For tourists traveling with the elderly and children, it is more suitable to come to Nalati; for young people, they can choose other scenic spots with more beautiful scenery.

Drive south along the Duku Highway for a short distance and you will reach Nalati Town in Xinyuan County. Nalati Town is a large town in the middle section of the Duku Highway. Relying on the beautiful Nalati Grassland, it has formed a tourist distribution area with complete services. Therefore, with a large number of people and vehicles, it is naturally a key epidemic prevention area, and a nucleic acid testing point is set up before getting off the highway. Thanks to the high-quality tourism resources, the hotel and catering industry in Nalati Town is very developed. There are basically hotels on both sides of the main streets in the town, but there are no high-end ones, mainly homestays. The hotel is basically based on local Xinjiang cuisine and some Sichuan cuisine. The tickets for the Nalati Scenic Area are very complicated. The shuttle bus is divided into several routes and charged by route. Self-driving is charged per person, 300 per person, which is very expensive, really expensive, but there is no way. The scenic area is too large. If you want to improve the travel experience, it is better to drive by yourself. Self-driving requires an appointment on the official account the day before. The number of vehicles is limited every day. The number of people in the car and the ID number must be filled in the appointment information. The Narat Scenic Area Visitor Center is in the town. In the summer evenings, there will be a special bonfire party in the town. When we arrived at the end of September, we asked and they said there was no bonfire party.



We went to the Nalati Grassland Scenic Area to inquire about the ticket situation. We found that the Wing Card we bought was valid, which meant we didn't have to buy the 95 yuan ticket.



I asked about driving into the scenic area, and they said it was possible, but it would be charged per person, and it seemed to be 300 yuan per person (not 300 yuan for a car), which might include the entrance fee. Obviously, this price was unacceptable to us, so we had to take the shuttle bus.



The scenic area is very large, and there are three types of shuttle bus routes, with prices ranging from 40 to 80.



1. Aerial grassland route, 2. River valley grassland route, 3. Panlong Valley route.



Route 1 is in the west of the scenic area, while routes 2 and 3 are in the east of the scenic area. Route 3 is longer than route 2.



We were not sure which bus to take, so we consulted the tourist center and they told us that it was too late to take any bus.



Because it was not dark yet, we heard that there was a small loop line after entering the scenic area, which was the direction of the sky grassland, and it took about an hour to walk, so we entered the scenic area. The Wing Card can enter and exit twice.



However, since the purpose is not hiking but playing while walking, you can only walk half of the way in an hour.



The next morning we entered the scenic area again and took the scenic area shuttle bus on Panlong Valley Road for a tour.



The fare was 80 yuan per person, with a three-pass-one-free discount, so the total cost for the four of us was 240 yuan.



Which route should we choose? The Sky Grassland should be more distinctive, but we think it will be more beautiful when the grassland is full of wild flowers. At this time of year, not to mention the flowers, even the grass has been cut. The Panlong Valley Road route is said to have both grassland and forest, so let's choose it.



The River Valley Grassland route seems to be only a part of the Panlong Valley Road route. We first took the River Valley Grassland bus and changed buses at the end. After changing buses, we officially entered the Panlong Valley Road in the mountains, an ecological road winding deep in the woods.



The first half follows the same route as the river valley grassland, using the same vehicle. You get off at each scenic spot to view the scenery, and then take the next vehicle to continue your tour.

Today, we originally planned to go to Bayinbuluke, but because the weather was too cold and most hotels in Bayinbuluke were closed, we decided to give up. Because the southern section of Duku Highway was closed, we could only take the National Highway G218 via Hejing to Kuqa. After leaving Nalati Town, the scenery on both sides of the road was simply beautiful, such a pastoral scenery! We walked along the Gongnaisi River Valley, and the scenery along the way was really beautiful!

Good weather is a must for visiting the grasslands! You can drive into the scenic area for 300 yuan per person (including tickets). In the peak season, you may need at least 4 people per car, but in the off-peak season, 3 people are fine. If you drive in, you can freely explore several routes.

It is indeed not necessary to go there. The cost performance is not high. I personally think it is a scenic spot that can be avoided. It is just a little greener and thicker than the grassland outside. It costs 300 yuan per person to drive into the scenic area (including the ticket of 95 yuan). It is not cost-effective at all, because your car can only drive the river valley grassland and the sky grassland. Other places such as Xuelian Valley, Panlong Ancient Road, and Voltafuta cannot be visited. You can wait for the staff who set up the checkpoint to get off work before trying. The accommodation conditions in the scenic area are also average, and it costs more than 1,000 yuan a night. The toilet is particularly smelly.

The Nalati Scenic Area is divided into three routes: Sky Grassland, River Valley Grassland and Ancient Road. Tickets are universal and valid for two days. Inter-city buses must be purchased separately.

The classic scenery is the vast grassland + continuous snow-capped mountains. The grassland is full of flowers from May to June. The scenery is relatively monotonous, but it has a good view and rare scenery; Panlong Valley Road is more surprising. Before I went, I read the comments that it was just so-so, but it turned out to be the best section I think. The vehicle went along the river valley grassland, suddenly turned up the mountain, and turned around along the mountain. Most of the highlights are on the mountain. After reaching the top platform, the view is excellent. In front of you is a distant view of the snow peaks and the river valley, and behind you is a mountain covered with cedars. You feel physically and mentally comfortable and linger. After going down the mountain and reaching the river valley, you can ride horses, go-karts, ride horses along the river valley grassland, and ride along the riverside avenue. They are all super experiences. The weather in the mountains is changeable, with uncertain weather and multiple changes in a day, which also brings richness and layering to the scenery.

The scenic bus does not remind the route, so many tourists run back and forth, wasting time and affecting the view.

Nalati Grassland is very big and breathtakingly beautiful. I don't want to talk anymore. Hahaha. There are several lines of river valley grassland and cloud grassland. The cloud grassland is more beautiful than the river valley grassland, and I especially recommend going to the Snow Lotus Valley.

Although we went there in late autumn, the Nalati Grassland was still very green, which was very different from the golden color of the Bayinbuluke Grassland. The beauty was beyond our expectations.

At the foot of the snow-capped mountains, there are herds of cattle and sheep, and horses are leisurely grazing or standing in elegant contemplation. You can look them in the eye, but you can't peek from behind. Spend 50 to 60 yuan to ride a horse for an hour, and two hours of fun in the sky grassland in the morning is enough! Leaving the sky grassland to the forest park, it takes more than 4 hours to visit. It is recommended to drive into the scenic area and pay attention to the road signs. Some attractions (such as the Cactus) are difficult to enter and exit, and you have to walk a long way.

The season was not suitable and only one scenic spot was open, but the scenery was very interesting and cold, but worth it. I entered the scenic spot too late and almost missed the last scenic spot bus when I came out. If I walked out from inside, it would be several kilometers.

Because Nalati in autumn is not as good as Nalati in summer, we decided not to stay for too long and continued on our way, but we really wanted to stay in this small courtyard for a few more days.

Because Nalati is too commercial, and because we spent the first six days of our trip looking at grasslands, Nalati was not included in our itinerary. But to be honest, there are indeed more grasslands in northern Xinjiang, and you can choose according to your own time and route! The accommodation conditions are average, but the environment is OK

There are three main scenic spots in the Nalati Grassland Scenic Area, namely the Sky Grassland, the River Valley Grassland and the Panlong Ancient Road. Which one should I go to, the River Valley Grassland or the Sky Grassland? In fact, the first two are grasslands, one is a grassland on a mountain with a high altitude, the other is next to a river, and the other scenic spot is similar to a winding mountain road, and the scenery is mainly the forest on the mountain. The several scenic spots are far apart, and you need to take a sightseeing bus back to the transfer center to go to another scenic spot, which wastes a lot of time.

The key is that the tickets are so expensive. If you want to visit all three attractions, the package ticket costs 295 yuan.

The snow-capped mountains are dotted with patches and clusters of green pines and spruces, and at the foot of the mountains, mules, horses, cattle and sheep are dotted on the orange and green grasslands. This is a landscape painting of the Xinjiang aerial grassland.

Last year, we had great weather and it was really beautiful. This year, it was cloudy and windy, which was a bit disappointing. This is the largest plateau grassland in China, with beautiful scenery and strict speed limits throughout the journey.

Nalati Grassland is very large and requires a shuttle bus to tour. Currently, three shuttle bus lines have been developed: No. 1 River Valley Grassland, No. 2 Sky Grassland, and No. 3 Panlong Ancient Road. You need to buy the shuttle buses separately.

Line 3 is mainly for viewing forests. It feels average after the trip. There are no outstanding attractions. After reaching the end, I found a piece of grass to sit down and feel good. Line 2 is mainly for viewing grasslands and snow-capped mountains. I personally think it is the essence of Nalati Grassland. After reaching the end, you can choose to take an off-road vehicle to the top of the mountain to see snow lotus, but the snow lotus season is in June and July, so I didn't go up.

There are three routes in Nalati Grassland, Sky Grassland, Forest Park and Panlong Valley Road. Now there is a "Hui Wan" package for Sky Grassland and Panlong Valley Road, which is 50 yuan cheaper. In Xinyuan County, where Nalati is located, Yangzhou citizens can visit Nalati for free with their ID cards. However, the staff at the boarding station of Panlong Valley Road did not manage the regulations of the other two routes, and the management was particularly chaotic. Since we arrived late, we only visited Sky Grassland and Panlong Valley Road that day, and visited Forest Park the next day. The ticket for Nalati is valid for 2 days, and their tickets need to be authenticated by fingerprints. You can drive yourself in Nalati Scenic Area, which costs 300 yuan per person, and at least 3 people in a car.

After arriving at the nomadic family, you can take part in entertainment activities or take a bus to the Snow Lotus Valley, which costs 100 yuan per person, or take a bus to the Tianjie Terrace, which is 3 km long and costs about 30 yuan per person. In fact, the Snow Lotus Valley is far away from the snow mountain and snow lotus.

In fact, there is no need to go in, because you can see huge mountains and grasslands along the way.

The Panlong Ancient Road is winding and deep, and the grassland in the clouds is refreshing. The grasslands in Xinjiang are always magnificent, but maybe I went there at the wrong time. I saw more of the Nalati Grassland, which has lost its green and is resting, but I can still feel its vitality and happiness.

Because the homestay we stayed in was near the gate of Nalati Scenic Area, we entered the scenic area early in the morning on the 10th. We thought we were early, but the ticket office was already crowded. So it is recommended that friends who go there during the peak season must buy tickets in advance. We only went to one attraction in Nalati Scenic Area, and the 155 yuan ticket only included the sky grassland and transportation fees.

Special Tips: It takes about 30 minutes to take a bus from the gate of the scenic area to the sky grassland. The driving skills of the drivers are very good. You can swing in the car as much as you want, which is very exciting. But remember not to put valuables in your pockets to avoid losing them. At the same time, you should also write down the license plate and number of the vehicle you are riding in case of emergency.

It is a mountain basin with lush grass and beautiful water, vast grassland, intoxicating fragrance of flowers, cattle and sheep everywhere, and singing all year round.

This should be the standard definition of grassland: snow-capped mountains, blue sky, white clouds, grasslands, herdsmen, horses, cattle and sheep... If you want to take good photos, you can't rush like me. Why not stay in the local area for a few more days? It would be even luckier if you can catch some more drastic changes in the weather.
