Nanshan Scenic Area is located in Urumqi County, south of Urumqi City. It is a provincial scenic spot located in the extremely arid area in the heart of Asia and Europe. It features ice and snow landscapes, lush forests and grasses, peculiar rocks, superior tourist climate, alpine forest and pastoral scenery, and rich ethnic customs. It also displays modern cultural landscapes. The snow-capped peaks here are towering, the mountains are undulating, the forests are lush, the flowers and grass are everywhere, the springs are gurgling, and the scenery is charming. It is a summer resort and tourist attraction. Among them, the more famous places are East and West Baiyanggou, Houxia, Gangou, Dengcaogou, Shuixigou, Miaoergou and Banfanggou. Take the bus to Urumqi Suburban Passenger Transport Center Station, and then take a bus to Nanshan Scenic Area. There are buses to Baiyanggou at 9:00 and 9:20, and the price is 15 yuan. There are buses to other Nanshan scenic areas, but the exact time is unclear. We set off at 9:20 and arrived at Baiyanggou in about an hour and ten minutes, and the price is 30 yuan. The weather was bad on the day we went there, and it was drizzling. There were few people in the scenic area, and the natural scenery was good, which was basically the same as other Nanshan scenic areas described on the Internet. The visitor center is 10 kilometers away from the most famous waterfall in Baiyanggou, and the round-trip electric car fee is 60 yuan.

As it is located on the northern slope of Tianshan Mountain, with an altitude of more than 2,000 meters, the temperature is about 10 degrees lower than that of Urumqi. It is a small but beautiful place with wide pastures, lonely Gobi Desert, snow-capped peaks and turbulent rivers. There are not many tourists from other places here. Our friends in Urumqi strongly recommended this place to us. It is also the first choice for local residents who are closest to Urumqi to escape the summer heat.

From Tuyugou the day before to Nanshan scenic area that day, in less than 24 hours, we deeply felt the two worlds of ice and fire. God has given Xinjiang thousands of kinds of customs.

When we arrived, we found that we only had an hour to play, which was not enough for someone who loves taking photos. We hurriedly looked around and felt that the air here was very good, the people were simple and honest, and it has not been developed yet, so it is worth a visit.

I never expected it to be so cold up there. I felt even colder with bare legs. There's not much fun to play on Nanshan Mountain. It's mainly for viewing the scenery. Besides, the grass is past its greenest season. Although every season has its beauty, I still like it to be green as it should be~. It was beautiful and lively a month ago. There were very few tourists when I went there that day. I chose to ride a horse on the grassland. It was 100 yuan an hour. At that time, I felt that it was much more cost-effective than riding a camel the day before. But I was very excited when I got on the horse, but I felt very uncomfortable after less than 20 minutes. How uncomfortable it was, you still have to experience it yourself to know~

The scenic area is surrounded by mountains on three sides, embracing the green meadow. Looking around the scenic area, you can see the overlapping peaks, the sound of pine waves when the breeze blows, and the city can be vaguely seen in the distance. The scenic area is full of lush green grass and colorful wild flowers, as if a huge brocade is gently and soothingly laid between the mountains. From spring to autumn, more than ten kinds of wild flowers bloom in the scenic area, yellow, purple, light blue, red, white, colorful and beautiful. In addition, there are many springs gurgling, and wild animals such as red deer, wild boars, and marmots peeking among the forests and grasses, presenting an attractive primitive style everywhere, which is breathtaking and refreshing. There are three peaks standing among the mountains in the scenic area, which are staggered, mysterious and poetic, which is the "Three Peaks Overlapping Shadows".

Nanshan Ranch is a summer resort. Although it is only 60 kilometers away from Urumqi, the temperature is more than 3 or 4 degrees lower. The weather here is very cool. You can take the shuttle bus to get there. If you are not in a hurry, it is also nice to stroll there.

The family of a fellow rider I met on the way lives here. I contacted him after arriving in Urumqi. He drove me to Nanshan for a trip. Urumqi’s climate is short-sleeved, but it’s too cold here. I was shivering all over. It’s really meaningless to ride a horse here. I strongly recommend everyone to ride a vigorous horse on the Balikun grassland. The breeds of horses are too different. The horses in Nanshan are old, weak and sick. The people who lead the horses will ask you for tips. It depends on your mood. You can also refuse their service. In fact, the horses are too weak and are not afraid at all.

In February this year, I followed a team of outdoor sports enthusiasts to Nanshan for a 10-kilometer hike. This route is called the "Leader Trail", which is a place to test or examine the actual ability of outdoor leaders. At this time in Nanshan, the ground was covered with snow, and the pine forest on the mountain stood tall and straight. We followed the leader's footprints, stepping deep and shallow on the snow trail, and shuttled through the pine forest. This is the scene of the sea of snow. We only went to a corner of Nanshan, and the scenery was nice. There is a Yinfeng Ski Resort at the end of the hike, and there is also a Sunshine Ski Resort not far away.

When I went there, there was a big event in Xinjiang, the Silk Road Ice and Snow Marathon. The air was really good, and it felt really wonderful to measure that beautiful place with my feet.

Nanshan, 1 hour away from Urumqi, has great scenery, many ethnic felt houses to stay in, and many places to ride horses. You can live in the village at the foot of the mountain, where there are many Hui hotels. The surrounding small restaurants have good food, such as baked buns, roasted lamb chops, pepper chicken, fried noodles, etc. Living there is likely to make you a foodie, hahahaha.

Because I went to Kanas first and then to Nanshan and Tianshan, I felt that Nanshan was too boring!

The natural scenery is great, but it gets colder as you go deeper inside, so it's best to wear autumn and winter clothes.

I have been working in Urumqi for nearly 20 days, but I have not seen the scenery of Xinjiang. I will return to Beijing tomorrow, so I must see the beautiful Xinjiang today. Every winter, I go skiing at Nanshan Silk Road Ski Resort. I went there during the Spring Festival. The price was quite expensive, about 200 to 300, including the rental of ski equipment. The ski slopes are divided into beginner, intermediate, advanced and alpine slopes. The alpine slope is the hillside in the distance in the photo. It is really steep. It is said that you need a professional certificate to ski, which is quite dangerous. Most people ski on the beginner, intermediate and advanced slopes. If there is any reason why I can stay in Urumqi to work, the most important reason is that Urumqi has Nanshan.

Anyway, I took a one-day tour. For a Cantonese, everything was fresh, including cattle, sheep, blue sky, etc. The lamb skewers were not bad. If you like this kind of style, I recommend you to come and see it! This tour cost about 180 yuan. In fact, I always feel that domestic tourism is more of a rip-off. I ate carrot fried rice, and it was not delivered to the hotel in the afternoon. Maybe it's like this in China. By the way, one thing I must say is that in a scenic spot, the local residents will desperately ask you if you want to ride a horse? I couldn't stand it and left. I didn't feel like watching it. I didn't feel like riding it.

It’s the first time I saw the snow-capped mountains, and I felt a little trance when I saw the green and white snow in the same picture; I can see the white yurts under my feet, which are small like the shimmering water reflected on the green water, dotted with stars. The only drawback is that it is too humanistic, with too many post-renovation elements and too many tourists.

The scenery is slightly inferior to other places in Xinjiang, and it is mainly used by citizens to escape the heat in the summer.

The air in Nanshan Park is extremely fresh, and when you breathe it into your nose you feel the coolness of spring water.

Overall, the development is not very good, but the scenery is very beautiful, and it is the first choice for Urumqi people to take a short trip. Nanshan Scenic Area is very large, and there are many places worth visiting.

Go to Baiyanggou in Nanshan with a tour group. At Ulastai, you can see the endless grassland. Horse riding is not calculated by "yuan/hour", but "yuan/time". Later, I rode another energetic horse, and it ran so comfortably!

Baiyanggou Waterfall is over 40 meters high and very cool, so most people go there to escape the summer heat. But I think this waterfall is precious because it is located in Xinjiang. So friends who often see water may not be interested in it.

Finally, let's talk about the yurts where the Kazakh people live. The scattered white yurts have become a landscape. The yurts are not only for providing tourists with meals and barbecues, but also for the Kazakh people to live. If you ask them for water, they will let you pour it yourself (free of charge). There is a racecourse near the bus stop between the waterfalls. If you are lucky, you can see their horse racing and other activities.

Friendly reminder: don’t pick any green plants on the ground casually, they may be nettles!

Summer resort! Nanshan is a good place for Urumqi people to relax and have fun at farmhouses on weekends. After moving slowly for nearly an hour, we finally saw street lights and arrived at Nanshan Town. When we found the hotel we booked, it was already past 8pm. It took us more than 4 hours to go up the mountain. Due to time constraints, we only played in the alpine ranch for half a day. I heard that Maoping Lake was also good, but we didn't have time to go there.

I arrived in August 2002 and happened to watch their ethnic competitions, horse racing, camel racing... The scene was spectacular, but I don't know whether such activities were in response to the needs of tourists or were local customs?

Nanshan Scenic Area is 40 kilometers south of Urumqi City, less than an hour's drive away. There are many tourist resorts in Nanshan, and the main recreational activities are horseback riding and picnics.
