It is a gathering place and display center for Xinjiang's tourism products, and is the "Window of Xinjiang", "Window of Central Asia" and "Window of the World".

As a local of Xinjiang, it was the first time for me to have a deep tour of the Grand Bazaar. My friend and I first had a portion of stinky tofu, and then a skewer of barbecued meat for five yuan. The taste was OK, but a little expensive. The yogurt rice dumplings were also OK, but not as delicious as I imagined. The Grand Bazaar was quite lively, and there were many people from other places. There were all kinds of dried fruits, silk scarves, Uyghur flower hats, and exquisitely carved toothpick boxes in the market. Next time I have a chance, I will buy a small flower hat and take it back.

Erdaoqiao Folk Customs Street is separated from the International Grand Bazaar by Jiefang South Road. It is said to be a recently opened food street, representing Urumqi's specialties, and each food stall was confirmed through bidding.

You can't miss eating mutton in Xinjiang. My favorite is Gang Gang Meat. I once had it three meals in a row in Kashgar. I miss it so much. Gang Gang Meat is a large piece of mutton slow-cooked in an enamel cup with a little chickpeas or carrots. But the Gang Gang Meat here is not as good as the one in Kashgar, and there are no chickpeas. Of course, the mutton is still very good. I asked for a bowl of beef soup at this stall, a sang at the stall next door, and two skewers of mutton at the stall opposite. The sang tastes super good. My friend who went with me wanted to buy it again but was refused, saying that it was served with pigeon soup. Haha, I am still lucky. Mobile payment can be used in the food court just like in the mainland, which is very convenient.

The huge market is very lively, but most of the people there are tourists from outside. There are many kinds of goods sold here, including various styles of Xinjiang musical instruments, but we can only see their shapes, cannot name them, and have never heard their sounds.

There are also various special small gifts. It doesn’t matter if there are no customers. The owner is not idle either. He plays the guitar and entertains himself. They are indeed a versatile nation.

Of course, there are also various dried fruits and dried goods that are produced in Xinjiang. Passing by a shop, I saw a proprietress. Even with a veil on her head, she couldn't hide her beautiful face.

Uyghur faces can be seen everywhere here, with deep features and very good looks! This Uyghur little Nanhai, wearing a black coat with red lining, kept following our camera, so cute! He even went back home and drove his car to chase us. The weather in Urumqi is also changeable and ever-changing. When we came out this morning, the sky in the Grand Bazaar was still gray, but soon, the clouds dispersed and the sky was blue! All kinds of fine jewelry are sold in the Grand Bazaar. Xinjiang is rich in jade. I have no resistance to bracelets, and I really want to grab a handful. But the rational Mr. Kuang stopped me!

The Grand Bazaar is probably the most scenic spot in Urumqi. I have never liked this kind of place. Every city should have an ancient street for outsiders to visit, such as Hefang Street in Hangzhou, Old Street in Shanghai, etc. There are also various drum towers, but I decided to go because of a photo. Its style is indeed different from other ancient streets. There are colorful lights everywhere, blingbling is very bright, which makes people feel happy. Many places are suitable for taking pictures, indoor colorful lights, outdoor tunnels, various lanterns, and unique ethnic minority shops. The Grand Bazaar is very large. It takes more than an hour to visit it. You must go through security checks in each area of several blocks and swipe your ID card. There are armed policemen on the streets. Urumqi is extremely safe. I also heard that it is the city with the lowest crime rate in China. I was checked at least twice every day afterwards and my ID card was swiped several times. Xinjiang is really safe. Cover the lens cover indoors and outdoors, otherwise it will be like this. There are many local specialties in the Grand Bazaar, such as pilaf, grilled lamb chops, grilled lamb, grilled buns, lamb vermicelli soup, and lamb offal soup. I found the most highly rated restaurant and ordered all of them. The taste of lamb is very different from that in the mainland. It should be said that the taste is wilder, more mellow, and more fragrant. At least this is my feeling before I went to Burqin. It is better to bake it first. The buns are the best when they are just out of the oven! I especially recommend a drink called Kavas, which tastes like beer and tea soda. It is very enjoyable to drink. The alcohol content is not high and there is no strong alcohol taste. It has probably surpassed salty milk tea in my heart. This is it.

How to describe this place? Like Nanjing Road in Shanghai, it is a place with many tourists. Speaking of bazaars, the bazaar located in Erdaoqiao is the most famous and has the most people. Of course, more than 90% of the people are tourists. Before coming here, I was instilled with this or that "view" in my mind, so I was not very enthusiastic about visiting bazaars, but this is the best place to buy specialties from all over Xinjiang. Later, I came here and walked around. It was not as scary as the rumors outside. The price was still acceptable. Of course, if you fancy any product, bargaining is a must. Walking into the bustling bazaar, even if you don't buy, it's great to take pictures and watch the excitement. Looking at these colorful Uyghur musical instruments, I really love them~ You can also buy dried fruits. There are many varieties of dried fruits in Xinjiang. There are so many varieties of raisins alone, and your eyes are definitely dazzled.

(Free visit). After getting off the bus, what came into view was an Islamic building complex full of exotic characteristics. The flow of people here has increased significantly, and the entrance is a heavily guarded armed police. I thought this bazaar would be a relatively primitive Uyghur market, but when I walked past it, I found that it was at most a Uyghur version of a small commodity market, with several shopping malls selling dry goods, clothing, handicrafts and other commodities. But the entire market covers an area of nearly 40,000 square meters, making it the largest bazaar in the world, and it is also spectacular. In front of the 80-meter-high Xinjiang First Sightseeing Tower is a performance square. Tourists coming and going were quickly attracted by the singing and dancing scenes. Actors from the Xinjiang Song and Dance Troupe were performing Xinjiang's ethnic dances. The handsome guys and beautiful girls were dressed in gorgeous clothes, dancing to the rhythmic music, which made people unable to take their eyes off. Although it was difficult to squeeze into the front few rows to watch the show, people like me who have no artistic bacteria are also afraid of standing too close to the front. Because the actors will randomly come over to "pull people" to the stage to interact, I will let the people in the front row block it. Wandering among the crowd of foreign faces, I felt like I was in a Middle Eastern country. The longer I stayed, the more I felt like an outlier. Although I am also a minority and have been abroad, I still unconsciously compared myself with the locals. We are all Chinese, so why is there such a big gap? I can only comfort myself by saying "the land is vast and the resources are abundant".

Get up early and go to the famous Grand Bazaar, which is the representative of Xinjiang culture. There are delicious food, a variety of goods, and enthusiastic people in the Grand Bazaar.

It was time for the Grand Bazaar performance. The music started and the actors started dancing. The Uyghur compatriots around me were all good at singing and dancing. Men, women, old and young all took part. I really envied their dancing cells. At this moment, I was intoxicated by it. I ate authentic pilaf and Hami melon, visited the market, and got a better understanding of the life of the people in Xinjiang. There were all kinds of specialties. Dutar and Dafu are two traditional Uyghur musical instruments. When I walked into the store, the craftsmen were making them attentively. The old man next to them played them. The sound of the piano was thick and melodious, and the sound of the drum was crisp and loud. The music was full of a sense of history. There was a beautiful mosque outside the Grand Bazaar, the White Mosque.

By Yunxiao |

Walking along the National Unity Pedestrian Street, we suddenly heard beautiful music. Following the sound, we saw three Uyghur men playing music, just like a band. It is said that Xinjiang people are good at singing and dancing, and music is probably in their blood...

Yogurt, about 5 yuan a cup. Delicious!

This is naan, which is fragrant, chewy, and easy to store. It is a favorite food of many Xinjiang people.

Xinjiang International Grand Bazaar is currently the largest bazaar in Xinjiang, with a very Islamic style. It is said that Xinjiang International Grand Bazaar was rebuilt this year and opened on August 16, 2018. The new International Grand Bazaar is divided into three blocks: A, B, and C: the cultural and creative tourism and intangible cultural heritage project block, the international fashion block, and the Grand Bazaar food block. Among them, there are a total of 40 floats in area A, of which 30 are cultural and creative tourism products and 10 are intangible cultural heritage products; area B is positioned as "international fashion", including the original merchants as well as taverns, western restaurants, small bars, etc.; area C is a "food block", with a total of 30 small stalls and 20 floats. There are a wide variety of goods in Xinjiang International Grand Bazaar, and all kinds of Western ethnic specialties are available. The buildings in the Grand Bazaar are full of exotic atmosphere. Coming to Xinjiang International Grand Bazaar is like going out of the country.

Xinjiang International Grand Bazaar is currently the largest bazaar in China. It has everything from specialty foods, handicrafts, ethnic costumes, jade, gold and silver wares, and various spices and products. Maybe because we arrived late, there were not many people. It was also the first time I saw so many types of dates and raisins. We bought a lot and took them back as souvenirs.

By Small Fruit Cher |

This is actually a large agricultural commodity market, selling some Xinjiang hand drums, Xinjiang pianos, various exquisite silverware, Persian carpets and nuts with ethnic characteristics. When I came here, I heard that if you don’t want to buy something here, you can’t touch it, otherwise the stall owner will ask you to pay for it. I was trembling all the way and didn’t dare to walk too close, and I took pictures from a distance. But in front of a Xinjiang leather drum shop, the owner was very kind and allowed us to touch the drums on display and let us take pictures close to it. So seeing is believing, hearing is not believing. Most Xinjiang people are still very enthusiastic.

There are also various kinds of dried fruits and nuts in the mall. The almonds look plump and the raisins look super sweet. It’s a pity that we were just in transit. Next time I come to Xinjiang, I will definitely bring a few bags home.

By My name is really Li Qing |

Arriving at the Grand Bazaar, I felt like I was at Barkhor Street in Lhasa a year ago. Exotic, 40-hour train ride from the mainland, 2-hour time difference. One is Tibetan culture, the other is Western customs.

There was a beef bone shop whose owner was very interesting. I didn’t intend to buy a keychain, but I was attracted by the slogan... and bought it!

The pomegranate juice is delicious and the yogurt is also great. 10-15 ¥ a cup. The price is acceptable.

There are also beeswax for sale in the Grand Bazaar. I don't know if it's real or not, but I bought it because it looks nice and I want to keep it as a souvenir. The whole place sells all kinds of goods and souvenirs. You can bargain for the Gobi agate bracelet, 10 ¥ 3 pieces. The milk tea is not good, it tastes the same as the milk tea in the mainland. It's just sweeter.

Urumqi International Grand Bazaar is actually a large Uyghur-style bazaar that integrates sightseeing, food, handicrafts, and commerce. It is also the largest bazaar in the world. Although the International Grand Bazaar is a city card that Urumqi focuses on building and has assumed the task of a tourist window, there are still many locals who go shopping and eating in the bazaar. The Grand Bazaar is divided into three major areas: A, B, and C, and there are independent security checks between the areas. Due to the dense flow of people, the security check is still relatively strict, and even small scissors will be confiscated. After leaving the large and small bags of luggage at the front desk of Carrefour, I went to the bazaar to wander around. Dried fruits, jade, carpets, essential oils, musical instruments, silk scarves, all kinds of things, dazzling. Just pick a few things, if they are placed in Liuxing Street in Yining or the old city of Kuqa, you may buy some. They are all crowded in the Grand Bazaar, which is a bit like a banquet full of delicacies from mountains and seas, and I don’t know how to start chopsticks. Musical instrument stores, painted hand drums, large and small dutars and tambours, and everything from playing and singing. There are also shops selling Yengisar knives in the Grand Bazaar, which is a bit unexpected. Going to the C District Food Street to find food is also the most important purpose of coming to the Grand Bazaar. For the last meal, there are still many local delicacies that I haven't tried. The Grand Bazaar Food Street is mainly snacks, so I can try a few more.

By Shuttle |

Urumqi Metro Line 1 has been completed and opened to traffic. It takes about 45 minutes from the airport to the International Grand Bazaar, which is very convenient.

I remember the first time I went to the Grand Bazaar in 2008. I remember it was very "chaotic" but also full of life, with barbecue, pilaf, and nam kong everywhere, all smelling delicious. Now it has become a tourist attraction, clean and tidy, a super-large supermarket with everything for sale

By Ferris Wheel |

We came here after dinner, and because of the severe traffic jam in the surrounding area, we couldn't get in by taxi, so we got off the car in advance and walked all the way. Walking here, most of the people in sight are Uyghurs, and suddenly I felt like I was in a foreign country. For a moment, I was in a trance, where am I?

Walking here, it was already dark, and I didn't want to eat or buy anything, I just wanted to feel the atmosphere of the International Grand Bazaar. But in fact, there are still a lot of goods here: national costumes, fabrics, carpets, secret medicines, local dried fruits, handicrafts, general merchandise, jade jewelry, etc.

Xinjiang International Grand Bazaar is a large market, where shops sell all kinds of things - jade, clothing, musical instruments, handicrafts, snacks...

The prices are a bit high. In fact, if you really want to buy souvenirs, you can go to the basement floor of the "Jinquan Shopping Mall" not far away. The refrigerator magnets, felts, etc. there may be only half the price of the shops in the Grand Bazaar.

After playing in the Grand Bazaar, we bought mutton skewers, cold noodles, tripe meat and other Xinjiang delicacies at the food stalls inside. However, the meal we had in the Grand Bazaar can be said to be the most unpalatable meal in Xinjiang, so I really don’t recommend you to eat in the Grand Bazaar.

Xinjiang International Grand Bazaar is definitely a popular check-in spot in Urumqi. Although I disdain such places, since I have 2 hours of free time in Urumqi, I will go there. The official introduction of the Grand Bazaar is as follows:

How should I put it? The first time I went to Xinjiang and Urumqi, I had to go to the International Grand Bazaar. Even if I didn't buy anything, it was nice to go shopping. What's more, there were quite a lot of delicious food. There were a lot of ethnic items, but the prices were a bit expensive, especially the jade products. I just looked at them.

By Want to eat clay pot rice |

The Grand Bazaar is quite deserted on weekdays, with layers of security checks, after all, it is the place where the incident happened. If you need to buy local specialties, it is a good place. There are many names for raisins alone. There is also a naan exhibition hall inside, where you can learn more.

It is convenient and belongs to Xinjiang.

Due to epidemic prevention and control reasons, the Grand Bazaar closes at 9 pm, so if it’s late, you can only walk around outside.

But I think you will regret not visiting the International Grand Bazaar, and you will regret it even more if you come. So it’s okay to just come and take a look at the Islamic-style buildings. After all, admission is free.

Bazaar is a market, or in other words, a small commodity market. The problem is that it does not sell goods wholesale, so the prices are inflated and you have to bargain like crazy. I have also been to a real Islamic bazaar, and our International Grand Bazaar has a very "Yiwu" characteristic. In short, just take a look.

A must-visit place when you go to Urumqi. Things here are sold by kilograms~~ Just look at the decorations. There is a store selling raisins here. The owner was very generous and let us try them in the store. His raisins, red walnuts, and figs are very delicious and worth recommending!

We took a taxi to the exclusive check-in spot for tourists, the Grand Bazaar Pedestrian Street, which is similar to Shanghai's Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street and City God Temple.

Grand Bazaar is a Uyghur word meaning market. You can buy Xinjiang nuts, fur clothing, and various souvenirs here. There is also a night market in the evening.

The last time I came to the Grand Bazaar, I was probably still in the single digits. Now it is completely different from what I remember. It is a good place to come as the first stop after landing. I caught up with the performance of playing the dombra on the high wall, and immediately switched into the cheerful ethnic atmosphere. Inside the Grand Bazaar, there are all kinds of small gadgets, which make people want to pose for photos.

By Zheng Zizai |

The fruits that can be found everywhere in the Grand Bazaar are worthy of the title of Xinjiang Fruit Town in terms of both appearance and taste. In addition to the fruits, beautiful young ladies, innocent children, and elderly people with vicissitudes of life form a series of landscapes. Of course, there are also handsome guys who come from afar:

The dried fruit vendors are a bit unique, but the crafts, furs and silverware vendors are not very interesting. It is not a very worthwhile attraction, but if you are not a local and want to buy some dried fruit specialties, you may only come here. In comparison, the mosque is very beautiful, and the people dancing Xinjiang "square dance" in the square are very unique. The Grand Bazaar is a good place to take pictures of humanities, but as a tourist attraction, I have to be reserved.

I arrived at around 9am, but it wasn't open yet! They said it would open at 10am~ Then I walked around the area and found that although it's called the International Grand Bazaar, it's not that big, at least smaller than I imagined, it's the size of a residential area, or the size of a residential area that's not particularly large~ Then I went in as the first wave of tourists of the day at around 10am~ Although I was told before that the Grand Bazaar would be more lively in the afternoon, time didn't allow it, and I didn't want it to be too lively~ I had to go through security at the entrance~ It's free~ I went to the observation tower to take a look, the ticket is 25 yuan, there is an elevator to the tower, you can overlook the Grand Bazaar, then walk down the stairs, there are many murals on the walls in the corridor, but they look more like graffiti~ There are many goods in the Grand Bazaar, musical instruments, carpets, clothing, food, etc. There are many Uyghurs who buy and sell, it really feels very exotic~ There is even a Carrefour in the Grand Bazaar~

Very bad experience. I was cheated by a man named (Tianshan Medicinal Materials Store) in the Grand Bazaar. The same thing was twice as expensive as the store at the gate. The store charged 5 yuan over there and 10 yuan for him. This man called the neighbor (Yan Yu and Tian Yu) to have a quarrel with me. I was also discriminated against by region. Discrimination against Henan people... Funny... And it was very expensive. Once you go out of the Grand Bazaar, it's cheaper. Haha, I don't want to target a certain group, but... Le Se... If the comment is not emotional. I don't recommend everyone to go to the Grand Bazaar. Expensive service will be met with roll of the eyes. It's much cheaper and delicious just across the wall. The quality of the things inside is average, 5 key chains cost 100 yuan, ice cream 10 yuan, refrigerator magnet 45 ten.

Xinjiang International Grand Bazaar has a strong Islamic architectural style. You can see Islamic mosques when you enter the Grand Bazaar! On the basis of covering the functionality and sense of the times of the buildings, it reproduces the prosperity of the ancient Silk Road. It sells all kinds of Xinjiang-style products, including food and clothing. Both the architecture and the business embody the strong ethnic characteristics and regional culture of the Western Regions. For people who like architectural scenery, it is still good, but I prefer natural scenery with fewer people. So the Grand Bazaar is just a big trade market for me, and I don’t have any special favorites.

Urumqi is no different from any other big city in China, with tall buildings, busy traffic, five-star hotels everywhere, and all kinds of local delicacies. It's hard to tell that this is a city 4,000 kilometers away from China, which took 5 hours to fly across. There's nothing fun in the city, and the Grand Bazaar has become a must-see in Urumqi.

The Grand Bazaar has distinct architectural features and is highly recognizable. It appears in almost every travelogue. As a local specialty market, it sells all kinds of dried fruits and handicrafts. There is a shop selling naan. You must go and have a look. The cumin flavor is the best.

It is indeed the first tourist attraction in Urumqi. You must come and see it. When I walked near it, I felt that it was not interesting and didn't want to see it. It turned out that the surrounding area was fenced off. You must go through the only entrance and exit to enter the pedestrian street and go through security check. I thought there were some small shops inside and I would just look around. I didn't expect to spend three hours walking around. I don't know what I did. I probably visited the specialty store selling naan first, sent a postcard, bought some raisins to send home, and climbed the Silk Road Tower (80 meters high to see the view, the ticket price is 25 yuan, I think it's optional and not worth it), and finally went to Carrefour.

Please note that this pedestrian street is now divided into two sections, separated by a main road in the middle. Security checks are required separately when entering from both sides. I went to the opposite side (mainly some food stalls, not as fun as the main side) and then returned and went through security checks three times. It was so annoying, so it’s best to plan ahead and not go back.

Xinjiang International Grand Bazaar is one of the two major bazaars in Xinjiang. It is said that in the bazaar, except for relatives, everything else is available. Xinjiang is the geographical center of Asia and an important node on the Silk Road, so there are local specialties from all over the world in our bazaar. The buildings here have exotic characteristics, and the people here also have different looks. Coming to the Grand Bazaar is like coming to a foreign country and experiencing different customs.

The International Grand Bazaar is a commercial center with Uyghur characteristics. It is a major feature of Urumqi. There are many Uyghur snacks and accessories. Unfortunately, I didn't have a long time in Urumqi and didn't have a good time to visit it.

This is the gathering place of all ethnic handicrafts in Xinjiang and the first choice for tourist souvenirs.

It has a lot of ethnic characteristics and a variety of Xinjiang delicacies. It is a good place to buy Xinjiang souvenirs.

You can go for a walk in the local market. The towering buildings are quite unique and the gifts inside are quite expensive.

Like most cities, it is for tourists from other places. The things there are average, so you must bargain. The prices of the same things can vary a lot.

You must check in in Urumqi. It is very commercialized now. Just go and have a look.

By the way, it’s best to eat and shop outside.

I don't recommend the International Grand Bazaar. Apart from the nice musical instrument store, there's nothing else to see. It's no different from a small commodity street.

Xinjiang International Grand Bazaar means a big market. It is very good and has a wide range of products.

The Grand Bazaar is a concentrated reflection of the Western Regions’ customs. I have to say that the ethnic minorities are very enthusiastic, especially the Uyghurs, who really dance to the music.

Xinjiang International Grand Bazaar is a must-visit spot in Urumqi. The overall architectural style is unique, and there are many restaurants, specialties, handicrafts and performances on the pedestrian street. I prefer the night here. It feels great to walk here alone.

Why are there short sleeves in the Grand Bazaar in winter?

I also went to the Grand Bazaar during the Spring Festival this year. It was cold.

The Grand Bazaar is actually a pedestrian street. Maybe because it is winter, there are not so many people. But there are many Xinjiang people dancing in the small square at the entrance.

The indoor area is basically the Yiwu Small Commodity Market, with a wide variety of everything.

What impressed me most was that there was a shop selling baked naan, which displayed naan of various flavors and shapes, big and small, with probably hundreds of them on display. Although naan is the staple food of Xinjiang people, I don’t think I would necessarily be used to eating it.

Now they have started to charge tickets to tourists from other places. In addition to the unique buildings, it is actually a distribution center for tourist souvenirs.

By San Dan Rock |

There is construction going on near the Grand Bazaar. You need to buy a ticket to enter the Grand Bazaar for 10 yuan. It is said that the rule of buying a ticket to enter has only been implemented for 2 days. As a tourist and a customer, I still need to buy a ticket to enter the market to shop. I was very confused, so I turned around and left.

Urumqi's Grand Bazaar is indeed a big market, with dried fruits, musical instruments, and local specialties. Although it is fun to visit, I don't want to buy anything. I don't know why. If you want to buy specialties, I still recommend going to the local wholesale market, where you can get good quality and cheap products.

By Hu Xiaoshi |

It feels okay, no surprises, just a normal trading market. Of course, you still need to check in.

By Body Master |

We just walked around and didn't buy anything! There are special markets for many specialties such as almonds, raisins, etc., and the prices are much cheaper than here.

You can feel the characteristics of Xinjiang and buy all kinds of Xinjiang products. It is also the place where there are many Uyghurs in Urumqi.

After drinking milk tea, I recommend the rose jam naan from the Grand Bazaar Naan King store

You can also see different square dances in the Grand Bazaar, and you almost want to dance along.

By The sky is the limit |

The Xinjiang International Grand Bazaar is actually a relatively large market, and the main goods sold are Xinjiang specialties. Because the Grand Bazaar is a gathering place for many ethnic groups and is a densely populated place, strict security checks are required when entering the Grand Bazaar from the gates in all directions. There is a guard post every ten steps and a sentry post every five steps in the Grand Bazaar. There are many security posts, each with 2-3 people, and they are all equipped with guns and explosion-proof equipment. There are also many Uyghur policemen, and the young men are very handsome.

It’s okay to take a look but I don’t recommend buying anything. Raisins are still the cheapest in Grape Valley.
