Cangshan Mountain has beautiful scenery, and the snow-covered scenery on the main peak is majestic and spectacular. It is one of the four famous scenes of "wind, flowers, snow and moon" in Dali.
There is an 18-kilometer-long hiking trail on the mountainside, called the Jade Belt Cloud Trail, which overlooks the Dali Basin and Erhai Lake.
There are two ways to go up Cangshan Mountain: take the cable car or walk along the hiking trail, which can reach Qingbi Creek, Zhonghe Temple and Ximatan on the Yudai Road on the mountainside.
Cangshan Mountain is majestic and has complicated mountain roads. It is recommended not to stray from the Jade Belt Road when visiting, otherwise it is easy to get lost if you stray into the deep mountains. The altitude is high and the temperature is low in the morning and evening. It is recommended to bring warm clothes when going up the mountain.

On December 23, 2018, we started to climb Dali Cangshan Mountain at 9:15. We took the shortest distance "two steps with only one track", which was high risk. There was no road at all, so we drove all the way up. After going through untold hardships, we finally climbed the Xieyang Peak, one of the 19 peaks of Dali Cangshan Mountain that we had longed for. We chose the road that we were all familiar with when we went down the mountain. We finished the trip smoothly and arrived in Xiaguan City at around 16:00 to have dinner.
Experience: 1. Mountaineering is not a trivial matter, it requires sufficient preparation and careful planning; 2. If you lack outdoor hiking experience, it is best to hike with a group or take a route that everyone takes; 3. Supplies must be prepared to be sufficient for abnormal situations; 4. It is ideal to choose a route with more tracks for going up and down the mountain; 5. The most important point is that hiking is risky, remember to make all possible plans and do not act impulsively.
Cangshan is the main peak at the southern end of the Yunling Mountains. It consists of 19 peaks from north to south, starting from Dengchuan in Eryuan in the north and ending at Tiansheng Bridge in Xiaguan in the south. The 19 peaks of Cangshan are majestic and form a sharp contrast with the beautiful Erhai Lake.
The peaks from north to south are Yunnong, Canglang, Wutai, Lianhua, Baiyun, Heyun, Sanyang, Lanfeng, Xueren, Yingle, Guanyin, Zhonghe, Longquan, Yuju, Malong, Shengying, Foding, Maer and Xieyang.
The snow on Cangshan Mountain, which lasts all summer, is one of the four famous scenic spots of Dali, namely "wind, flowers, snow and moon", and is also a unique landscape of Cangshan Mountain. In the cold winter, the area is covered with white snow, and in March, the snow is still piled above the snow line.
The snow on the highest peak, Malong Peak [4,122 meters high], never melts all year round. In midsummer, the mountainside is lush and green, while the peak is still shrouded in clouds and snow.
The cloudscapes of Cangshan Mountain are ever-changing, among which the most famous are the "Wangfu Cloud" and the "Jade Belt Cloud".
The Husband-Waiting Cloud often appears on the top of Yuju Peak every winter and spring. After the cloud appears, Erhai Lake will be hit by strong winds and waves, and fishing boats cannot go out to sea. Therefore, the Husband-Waiting Cloud is also called the "No Crossing Cloud". The Jade Belt Cloud is not only charming, but also a sign of a good harvest according to the Bai agricultural proverb: "When Cangshan is tied with a jade belt, hungry dogs will eat white rice."
Dali Cangshan has three major advantages in applying for a world-class geological park:
First, geological advantages. Dali Cangshan is a masterpiece of the collision and uplift of the Eurasian Plate and the Indian Plate. The unique plateau mountain landscape is a "natural geological book" that has been nurtured for more than 2 billion years. It is also the place where marble and Dali Ice Age were named.
Second, there are many scenic spots, and the landscapes are ornamental, which are of great significance to the popularization of geology and natural sciences, and have high economic value. For example, there are cirques, ice cellars, horn peaks, ridges and other peaks of various shapes and forms in the Cangshan Scenic Area.
Third, biodiversity. The discovery of various endangered plants and animals will assist the "World of the Gods". Cangshan has 2,330 seed plants in 755 genera and 170 families, including the first-class protected plant Taxus chinensis, and 10 endangered plants such as Rhododendron chinense, White Chrysanthemum, Blue Rhododendron, Rhododendron sulphureus, and Trillium. There are more than 170 bird species and 16 national protected animals, including the first-class protected animals Clouded Leopard and Takin, proving that the ecology of Cangshan is intact.
It belongs to the cable car. Since you are here... you can feel the best scenery in the cable car. There is only a broken chessboard and a pond on the mountain. There are no attractions. The viewing platform is blocked by trees and mountains. It is not as good as the scenery in the cable car. Please go early in the peak season, otherwise the controlled vehicles cannot drive in. You can only get off more than 2 kilometers away from the gate and climb up the hill or take the locals' car for 10 yuan per person. Instant noodles 15 yuan and potatoes 15 yuan
I don't recommend going up the mountain in winter. The pictures are the scenery I took. I don't know what it's like to see the snow on Cangshan Mountain, but I guess most people can't go there, and the experience is very bad.
I visited here on January 31, 2019, and the sight was not as good as the reputation. From what I saw at the time, the reputation was not worthy of it. Let me tell you about it below.
1. Official price: Ximatan Cableway half-trip 160. Tonggan Cableway 80. Ximatan half-trip + Tonggan half-trip 130. (Buy in advance for cheaper) You must buy tickets online 2 hours in advance, otherwise the ticket will not be issued!!! 2 hours in advance is a small matter, but if you don't pay attention, you will fall into the trap.
2. The Ximatan Cableway stopped running at 9:30am on the first half of the trip due to strong winds. So I didn't make it to the top of the mountain. If you want to reach the top, I suggest you go early.
3. If you want to take the Tonggan and Ximatan cableways, it is recommended to go up Ximatan and down Tonggan. From Ximatan to Qilongnu Pool, you need to go down the mountain road for 20 minutes (note: there was a slide at that time, but it has stopped running. Only part of the 1.5-kilometer mountain road has railings, and some steps are higher than wide. It's all steps, all steps, all steps!!! Very steep, very steep, very steep!!! Very narrow, very narrow, very narrow!!! I insisted on climbing to take the cableway. It was 2,600 meters above sea level and I climbed breathlessly for an hour. There was no scenery along the way. If the small slide (I don't know its specific name) is not running, it is not recommended that you climb up along this road, but it is barely ok to go down the mountain).
4. Follow the signs and climb up the mountain to the Seven Dragon Ladies Pool, which has seven dragon pools in total. It is a stream that flows down the mountain. It takes less than an hour to climb to the top. It is very small and the scenery is very monotonous. It is just a small pool, the largest one is about ten square meters? It feels smaller than the dormitory in my university. The largest waterfall is only 1.5m wide and 3m high at most. There is very little water.
5. The 4.5km road from Qilongnu Pool to Qingbi Creek is the easiest to walk. There are no steps. It is a small path along the mountain, paved with stones, with a slight ups and downs. It is not difficult and can be completed in 1 hour. You can see a small part of Erhai Lake in some places on the road. In fact, it is quite boring.
6. Take the cable car to Cangshan Mountain, the lowest altitude is 2600m. Everyone must rest well before going up the mountain. Fatigue/lack of sleep/disease can easily cause altitude sickness. But it's not serious. I didn't sleep well and went up for 5 hours. I had a headache at the time, but it was fine after a good night's sleep.
7. There are no attractions after the Tongjian Cableway goes up, so it is not recommended to go there in winter. The water is very small, there is no waterfall, and the chess pieces are very broken. It is equivalent to nothing.
Other ramblings:
8. On a cloudless day, it is a bit hot in the sun and very cold in the shade, so it is recommended to wear a down jacket.
9. The scenery of the cableway is monotonous. The Grand Canyon is full of trees and there is no water. It is quite boring.
10. Cangshan Geopark, that is, the entrance ticket to the scenic area is 35, and the half-price ticket is 17. I think the ticket price level reflects the scenery and facilities very well.
11. Some roads are a bit icy, so please be careful.
Because it was too windy that day, we could only go halfway up the mountain, not to the top. The ticket plus the single-season cable car cost 173 per person, but the Didi driver took us to the ticket office below to get a ticket for 150. At first, I didn't believe it, but I still went up, and finally ran down to buy it. I took the cable car to Cangshan Mountain, and I felt cold instantly. You can see the panoramic view of Dali from above, which is super beautiful. I walked out of the halfway point, but I had to go back the same way. I really had no energy. I finally climbed back by playing the transfer method of idioms, and I was almost exhausted halfway.
Although it was cold in the mountains, as a girl from Guangzhou, I had never seen frost and snow before. This time I finally learned something new...
The tour guide said the mountain was different from the mountain below. I didn't believe it at first, but as we rode the Ximatan cable car higher and higher, the sky became darker and darker, the fog became thicker, and there was snow on the mountain and frost on the mountainside. I had to believe it.
There is a layer of frost on the stairs and railings, which makes them a little slippery. The stairs look like a ladder to heaven.
Many people hang their wishes on the wishing pavilion at the tourist rest area, thinking that this place is closer to God and their wishes will be fulfilled first.
Going further up, thick fog, strong winds, and frost have covered the entire field of vision. The colorful wishing cards have turned white, the tables and chairs are covered with frost, and the strong wind has made my face crooked.
The children in Guangzhou saw for the first time what frost on the windows really looked like.
After checking the guide on the Internet, I decided to take the cable car to Cangshan. The cable car ride is quite long, about 10 minutes, so the altitude climbing speed is not fast.
As people from Northeast China, we were very brave and didn't prepare oxygen. We just wore daily clothes. Later it turned out that it was still a bit cold when there was no sun. If you want to go up, you should prepare a thicker coat. Oxygen depends on your physical condition.
The cable car is 3,900 meters above sea level, and the Ximatan Observation Deck is 3,966 meters above sea level. It took us about two hours to climb just these 66 meters.
Cangshan Mountain, also known as Dian Cangshan Mountain, is the main peak at the southern end of the Yunling Mountains. It faces Erhai Lake in the east and Heihui River in the west. It consists of 19 majestic peaks from north to south, from Dengchuan in Eryuan in the north to Tiansheng Bridge in Xiaguan in the south. These peaks are generally above 3,500 meters above sea level, and there are seven peaks above 4,000 meters. The highest Malon Peak is 4,122 meters high. The top of the mountain is covered with snow and silver. It is crystal white in the sun, which is spectacular. It is called "the scorching sun cannot tolerate snow" and "Cangshan Snow".
To be honest, the scenery of Cangshan Mountain is actually very ordinary.
I went up the mountain from Gantong Cableway and climbed a short distance. Due to the high altitude, I was panting heavily and walked very slowly at first. When I climbed up to the viewing platform, I saw the Jade Belt Road. It was all flat, which I thought was OK. From Gantong Cableway to the Seven Fairies Pool, there were almost no people on the road. I only met 3 staff members and no tourists. It took 1 hour to reach the Seven Fairies Pool.
At the foot of the mountain is the ancient city of Dali, in front of the ancient city is Erhai Lake. The top of the mountain is very open.

It consists of 19 peaks from north to south, starting from Dengchuan in Eryuan in the north and ending at Tianshengqiao in Xiaguan in the south. The highest peak, Malong Peak, is 4,122 meters above sea level. The majestic Cangshan Mountain stretches across Dali, with the top of the mountain covered in snow, known as "Cangshan Snow".

transportation
1. There are many taxis in the ancient city that can take you to the foot of Cangshan Mountain, and then take the cable car up the mountain from the foot of the mountain.
2. Exit Cangshan Gate in Dali Ancient Town, walk along National Highway 214 to Yixian Road, turn west, and walk about 1 kilometer to reach Cangshan Cableway
3. Take bus No. 4 in Gucheng and get off at Gantong Temple Station. Walk southwest along the mountain road in front of the school gate for about 2 kilometers to reach Gantong Cableway Station.
4. Exit the south gate of the ancient city and walk west along Yita Road. Walk about 1.9 kilometers to reach the hiking trail of Cangshan Scenic Area.
5. If tourists do not want to take the cable car up the mountain, they can rent a horse directly in the ancient town to go up the mountain. The cost is about 100 yuan.
Take the Gantong cableway up and down the mountain. Tickets are 35, cableway up and down 80, one-way 50.
The view of Erhai Lake and Dali City from the cable car is very beautiful.
But the scenery in Cangshan is just average.
There are tall trees along Yudai Road, so it is impossible to see Erhai Lake from a distance.
Since I went up and down the Sentong cableway, I did not travel on the other two cableways, so I have no say.
I hope I can take the big cable car and reach the top next time.
Cangshan is so beautiful ~ spectacular
It's a bit cold on the mountain, wear more clothes~
The wind is strong on the mountain. In order to visit all the attractions, try to go early because the cable car going up the mountain can still be dangerous in strong winds! ~
To be honest, as a scenic spot tour route, there is really no particularly beautiful scenery. The most beautiful scenery of Cangshan Mountain in Dali is on the ridge. There are 19 peaks in Cangshan Mountain (although I didn't count them). If you have the ability and luck to walk along the ridgeline, you will be absolutely shocked! The ridge is as narrow as a knife blade, continuous and of various shapes. The biting wind blows from one side to the upper side, and it is so cold that you can't stretch your hands; while the other side of the thin ridge can quietly enjoy the warm sunshine! Below the ridge is a steep canyon, which is very spectacular. If you watch the snow on Cangshan Mountain in winter, the snow carved by the strong wind is like a work of art. However, there are risks outdoors, and the scenic area is also strengthening management; individuals should be cautious when entering the mountain!
There are 13 peaks in Cangshan Mountain. Whether you are at the foot of the mountain or across from Erhai Lake, Cangshan Mountain is so majestic.
It's just average, nothing special, climbing is tiring
There is the Jade Belt Road, which is suitable for fitness, hiking and parent-child activities, as well as outdoor routes for self-abuse. Cangshan Mountain adds a lot of points to Dali.
If you go there in winter, you can only reach the halfway point of the mountain. The scenery of the mountain itself is not special. The best thing to see is taking the cable car up and down the mountain, and you can see the whole view of Dali and Erhai Lake.
The scenery of Cangshan Mountain is average. If you want to climb the mountain, you can go there. If you go there specially, I don't think it's worth it.
The rhododendrons on Cangshan Mountain are very beautiful, and the scene looks very much like Jay Chou’s “Sea of Flowers”.
It takes a whole day to climb Cangshan Mountain. It is recommended to take the Gantong Cableway.
Dali Cangshan Mountain. Take the cable car up and down and visit here.
Mountains and water are the scenery. Cangshan Mountain and Erhai Lake are the greatest scenery in Yunnan.
The Huimin Street Cuiyiguo is really delicious.
A must-visit place in Dali~~It's worth coming~~But be sure to pay attention to sun protection, and don't take the plateau and mountain reactions lightly~~
Facing Erhai Lake and backed by Cangshan Mountain! You deserve this kind of beautiful scenery haha
The ropeway has nice scenery, but the rest is pretty average, just like ordinary mountain climbing.
Dali is polluted, the air quality is too bad, PM2.5 can be 55 on a sunny morning, it's gray everywhere, not transparent at all, the hotel owner said it was fog, are you kidding me? The sun is shining, the ultraviolet rays are shining, the fog should have dispersed long ago. . Thank you for the road construction below the cableway, you have to climb from the bottom of the mountain to the cableway entrance, the experience is very bad, get off the cableway and climb to Yudai Road, I wanted to walk to the Seven Dragon Girl Pool, walked a short section and saw an observation deck, my god, Erhai Lake is all gray, gray, I thought I was in the eastern industrial city, here's a photo. . I went down the mountain angrily. . The only highlight of the whole journey was Jizhao Temple, which is worth a visit. . Disappointing Dali, there is no blue sky and blue Erhai Lake, I will never come again. .
A very beautiful mountain in Dali, Yunnan
Climbing Cangshan Mountain to see Erhai Lake is a great pleasure in life and worth going.
It is so beautiful. I only went up to the foot of the mountain. I was out of breath due to altitude sickness. I still like to look at Cangshan Mountain opposite Erhai Lake. The jade belt clouds are really beautiful.
Cangshan Mountain and Erhai Lake are inseparable. Cangshan Mountain is majestic and Erhai Lake is beautiful. If Cangshan Mountain is like a tall and strong man, Erhai Lake is like a gentle woman. Standing on the seashore and looking at Cangshan Mountain, Cangshan Mountain becomes more majestic and tall. Climbing Cangshan Mountain and looking at Erhai Lake, Erhai Lake becomes more tranquil and distant.
We didn't go to the tourist attraction. After asking around, we drove up the mountain along a mining road. We met a group of hikers and a local vehicle, and that was all.
We didn't have any equipment for the night, so we stayed overnight at Cangshan Mountain. This is a joy that you can't experience at traditional Cangshan scenic spots. This piece of mountain is yours, you can shout and wander around as you like, and no one will pay attention to you except for the curious animals that frequently pass by.
The eaves are called the roof of the world. This is also the place where the natural landscape marble is named.
There is nothing special about Cangshan Mountain itself. After taking the cable car up, there is a stone tablet with the words "The First Peak of Cangshan Mountain". There is a Tianlong Cave with a statue of "Sister Fairy" dancing with a sword in the cave. The rest are some temples. It is a good experience to overlook Erhai Lake from Cangshan Mountain.
Cangshan Mountain is the main peak at the southern end of the Yunling Mountains. It consists of 19 peaks from north to south, starting from Dengchuan in Eryuan in the north and ending at Tiansheng Bridge in Xiaguan in the south.
The time and route for visiting Cangshan Mountain should be arranged well, as the cable car stops working early.
Cangshan Mountain has stood by the Erhai Lake for many years, watching people coming and going.
We stayed in a youth hostel and were taken there by my friends. The climb took about 2 hours. The scenery along the way was beautiful, with a big chessboard and chess pieces, and a Butterfly Spring. The Butterfly Spring is drinkable, and I have drunk it directly. In the summer, it feels like it has been taken out of the refrigerator.
In March, the rhododendrons on the west slope of Cangshan Mountain bloomed in full bloom, enthusiastically covering the entire hillside with their red color. The whole mountain was covered with red. At that moment, I really heard the restless voice in my heart, and I became cheerful and enthusiastic!
The altitude is relatively high, but the view is great. It is the largest cableway in China, and it really feels good to sit on it!
There are several routes in Cangshan. The Gantong cableway can take you to Jizhao Temple, and the Ximatan cableway can take you to Tianlongbabu Film and Television City.
Apart from taking the cable car, I don't think it's interesting. But the bird's eye view of Erhai Lake from the mountain is still super beautiful.
Cangshan actually feels like a primitive forest, but it is still worth going.
It takes about ten minutes to take a minibus from the tourist center to the Tianlongbabu city gate. The lady at the tourist center suggested that you should go to the cable car first, and then go into the city after getting off, so as to avoid queuing too long for the cable car if it is too late.
Walking all the way to the cable car station, you will meet many local people who will warmly invite you to ride a horse to the cable car station and feel the galloping of horses... There will also be many aunties carrying small bamboo baskets who will tell you: It is very cold, foggy and rainy on the mountain, so you need to prepare raincoats to keep warm... You just need to politely and smile and refuse.
First of all, the horses on the road full of horse manure are not good-looking. They are so dirty that I don’t want to sit on them.
The point is, it only takes a few minutes to walk up, and then you can comfortably take a sightseeing bus to take the cable car.
And there is really no need to buy that paper-thin raincoat. Just bring an umbrella with you when you go out. It can protect you from both rain and sun. It is perfect!
The temperature on the mountain and at the foot of the mountain is not much different. Besides, after you go up the mountain, you still have to climb up and down, it will be hot, believe me.
After walking for a few minutes, you can take the sightseeing bus up ~ But, it doesn’t seem to be comfortable. It feels like racing in Akina Mountain. The mountain road is full of twists and turns. The drivers of the sightseeing buses are all experienced drivers!
In August, there are many people. We queued for two hours to take the cable car up the mountain. On the cable car, we felt the ever-changing clouds and mist in the mountains. As the cable car gradually rose, we could overlook the entire Erhai Lake. If it was May or June, we could see azaleas all over the mountain at Ximatan, the end of the cable car. After that, we could walk north along Yudai Road and have fun while walking.
The sun is shining brightly at the foot of the mountain, and there is drizzling rain on the mountain. On a sunny day, it is a pleasure to escape the heat on Cangshan Mountain.
Cangshan Mountain and Erhai Lake are must-see classics
It's a pleasant climb and a tour. It's recommended.
It is said that there are many lakes and streams on Cangshan Mountain, as well as dozens of species of rhododendrons. I have been here twice but never climbed up, nor did I ask the local residents if there is a way to go to the top of the mountain.
Yunnan prefers Dali, and Dali just likes Erhai Lake! I just like to stay quietly in the inn, sitting in the sun and looking at the snow-capped Cangshan Mountain in the distance, and the surface of Erhai Lake nearby. The lake is transparent, clean, quiet and blue, which always makes a heart that doesn't know where to fall down and sink, so peaceful...
When climbing Cangshan Mountain, it is recommended to take the cable car. There are 3 cable cars, namely the Gantong Cableway at Gantong Mountain Gate, the Ximatan Cableway at Tianlongbabu Film and Television City, and the XX Cableway (I can't remember and it's not recommended, please ignore it). The easiest sightseeing route is to take the Ximatan Cableway and back. The ticket at the lower station is about 260 yuan/person (round trip). After reaching the middle station (also known as the Seven Dragon Girls Pool Station), you can visit nearby attractions, and then go up from the middle station to the upper station and arrive at Ximatan. After visiting the top of the mountain, you can return directly by the same route. It is the easiest trip. If you are lucky, you can see the snow on Cangshan Mountain at Ximatan (altitude 4000+). We chose to take a taxi to Gantong Mountain Gate first, with a ticket price of 30-40 yuan/person, Gantong Cableway (take Gantong Mountain Gate) to go up, arrive at Zhenlong Chess Game to check in, walk the 4.5km long Yudai Yunyou Road to Ximatan Cableway Middle Station (Qilongnuchi Station), take the cableway up to Ximatan Upper Station, and then go down all the way back to Ximatan Lower Station, without going back. The advantage of this route is that students who like to climb mountains will not feel bored, and both cableway + walking can be experienced. But but (emphasis) must be noted, just because there is no repeated route, you must buy a one-way upward trip when you start the Gantong Cableway! The default is 80 yuan/person for round trip, and the one-way price is unknown. We bought the default round trip, so it’s a blood loss! Another thing to note (knock on the blackboard), the Ximatan Cableway closes early in the afternoon. Students who choose the same route as me must arrive at Ximatan Middle Station before 14:00, and the upward trip stops at 15:00, and the downward trip stops at 16:00. The middle-upper-lower cableway costs 192 yuan per person. Students who choose the full-length cableway can go to Tianlongbabu Film and Television City if they have enough time in the afternoon. The ticket is 80 yuan per person. Students who choose the upper and lower cableways probably don’t have time, so they can go back to their accommodation to rest or go to the ancient city.
Also known as Dian Cang Mountain, it is located on the bank of Erhai Lake. It is located at the southern end of Yunling Mountain and consists of 19 peaks. From Dengchuan in Eryuan to Tiansheng Bridge in Xiaguan, it is connected from north to south and stretches across Dali. There are 18 streams connecting the 19 peaks. The streams are clear and reflect different scenery with different peaks.
You can see Erhai Lake from the mountain. The shadows of clouds are reflected on the mountain and flow with it. It feels like the clouds are very low. And because they flow very quickly, the weather is bright and dark, and the changes in light and shadow are very wonderful.
When you stand on Cangshan Mountain, which is nearly 4,000 meters above sea level, you will find that the whole Dali is yours.
If you come from the plains and go up Cangshan Mountain right after arriving in Dali, you may experience some altitude sickness. Remember to breathe steadily, avoid large movements, and adjust your mentality.
Cangshan Mountain has a majestic massif and complex mountain roads, so only a small part of it is open to tourism. As for the rest of the undeveloped areas, do not go there on your own without a guide who knows the route well.
Climbing Cangshan Mountain really feels like half of my life is gone because Cangshan Mountain is too long and too complicated. You must plan your route well, don't climb it casually like me. I think the more reasonable route is as follows: 1. First visit Gantong Temple and Jizhao Temple at the foot of the mountain, and then take the Gantong Cableway up the mountain. The upper station of the cableway is Qingbi Creek; 2. From Qingbi Creek, take the Yudai Yunyou Road to the Seven Dragon Girl Pool, where you take the upper section of the Ximatan Cableway to the top of the peak, and then return to the Seven Dragon Girl Pool Station by the original route (if the weather or time does not allow, you can cancel this trip); 3. Continue to take the Yudai Yunyou Road to Zhonghe Temple, where you can take the Zhonghe Cableway or walk down the mountain. Gantong Temple Station is still some distance away from the Gantong Cableway. Although this section of the road is not particularly far, it is uphill all the way, there is no scenery to see, and it is dusty, which is a waste of time and energy. It is recommended to share a car at the foot of the mountain or take a taxi directly to the Gantong Cableway parking lot, which is the entrance to Cangshan Mountain. After entering the mountain gate, follow the signs and walk along the road or mountain trail in the direction of Gantong Temple. It takes half an hour on foot to reach Gantong Temple and Jizhao Temple. You don't need to pay attention to those cars soliciting passengers, you can reach there quickly on foot.
Leaving Jizhao Temple,
I saw a sign indicating a mountain road leading to Qingbi Creek, so I gave up going back to take the Gantong cable car and chose to walk up the mountain. It turned out to be a long, tiring, endless, and uninhabited road.
If you are not a pure hiking enthusiast, it is recommended to return to the original route and take the cableway, which can save a lot of time and energy. This road is not difficult to walk, but it is really sparsely populated. There is not even a person along the way. There are only countless graves on both sides of the road that make your back cold. Fortunately, the scenery along the way is pretty good, with continuous peaks and lush greenery. When you reach the "Linglong Chess Game", this section of the road is really finished. You are exhausted physically and mentally, and you have wasted a lot of time. The scenery of Cangshan Mountain itself is average, but you can enjoy the scenery of Erhai Lake on one side. The sky and water are the same color, and the blue is refreshing. The Seven Dragon Girl Pool is also the middle station of the Ximatan Cableway. From here, you can take the ascending cableway to the top, take the descending cableway down the mountain, or continue to walk the Jade Belt Cloud Tour Road to Zhonghe Temple. If the weather is clear and time permits, it is recommended to take the ascending cableway to the top, which is said to be like ascending to the fairyland. However, the ascending cableway is greatly affected by the weather. It is often closed on rainy days, and it is usually closed earlier than other descending cableways.
The air on Cangshan Mountain is very fresh, and the greenery makes people feel relaxed. Sitting on the cable car, you can see a winding stream flowing down the mountain, with gurgling streams and colorful paths. The stream converges into a pool in a relatively flat area. The water in the pool is clear, and when the wind blows, ripples are formed. The statue of Guanyin is solemn and majestic, sitting quietly on the lotus platform in the clear water. It is truly untainted by the dust of the world, which makes those who see it feel cool and free from worries.
Thanks to the platform, it is very convenient. There are so many people on National Day, so you don't have to queue up to buy tickets. It is very convenient to directly buy tickets online and pick up tickets at the ticket collection area. We took the Gantong Cableway. It takes a while to walk from the ticket office to the cableway entrance, which is normal. We arrived at 10 am and just went to a temple to the left of the cableway entrance to eat vegetarian food. It costs 20 yuan per person and the fried chicken is delicious. The cableway is very cost-effective! !
The road on the viewing platform was extremely difficult, but when we got there, we found that there was nothing to see. In addition to the previous two points, we were disappointed after walking for a long time. We were not going to continue walking. We sat on the platform to check our phones and take a break. However, at the fork in the road to the Gantong Cableway, a map changed our minds and made us definitely continue to walk forward. There are two main reasons for choosing to continue. One is that the following Yudai Road is relatively flat, and we don’t have to climb up and down like before. The second is that the original intention of coming to Cangshan was to overlook Erhai Lake. I have been climbing the mountain before, but I didn’t have time to see it, and I was still unwilling. It turned out to be very worthwhile, and the scenery along the way is unique. There are three cableways in Cangshan, which are not connected to each other, and ticket sales are also irrelevant. It is said that the scenery of the large cableway is the best. The altitude of mountain climbing is naturally not comparable to Cangshan, so our team is full of curiosity about the scenery on the road, even the moss is colorful. Magical nature, beautiful Cangshan. Originally, we planned to walk to Zhonghe Cableway and go down the mountain from there, but the scenery on the road was so good and we were too playful. When we arrived near the cableway, we found that we had missed the cable car. We had no choice but to continue on. The scenery on the way was also very good. Go up the mountain from Qilu, and take pictures of flowers on the mountain and pick fruits on the way down. To sum up the recommended route for Cangshan Tour, I feel that Gantong Temple and Jizhao Temple are both very good and worth visiting. Cangshan overlooks Erhai Lake, and it is also good to walk in the mountains to wash your lungs. If you have physical strength, you can go out at nine o'clock like us, take a taxi to Gantong Cableway, and go all the way up to Gantong Temple and Jizhao Temple. There are few people in the morning, take pictures, and then sit down to drink tea, wait for the vegetarian meal, and then hike Cangshan. If you want to relax, you can return to Gantong Cableway to go up the mountain after the vegetarian meal. If you want to walk, you can walk Yudai Road and go down the mountain to Zhonghe Road Cableway. This road is very flat and suitable for walking. The distance from Qingxi Rock is about 11.5km. Special reminder: Remember to bring enough water and dry food, as there is basically no place to refill supplies on the road. There are also basically no toilets in the scenic area. We encountered two toilets along the way, and one of them was not open for use.
19 peaks are lined up from south to north and are closely adjacent to Erhai Lake, but they are less poetic than Erhai Lake. The average altitude of Erhai Lake is only about 1900 meters, while Cangshan Mountain is more than 4000 meters, and the absolute height difference reaches an astonishing 2000 meters. Conquering such a huge height difference depends on the coolest cable car I have ever taken. Due to the large height difference and the steep slope, it is also the first time I have seen a cable car that has to be divided into two sections halfway up the mountain and run separately. In addition to experiencing the excitement brought by the huge height difference, taking the cable car is also an excellent opportunity to overlook Dali and Erhai Lake. Arriving at the top of the mountain and looking into the distance, the clouds and mist rolling between Erhai Lake and the blue sky make it difficult to distinguish where the sea and sky are.
I recommend everyone to go to Cangshan! You must set off at 9:30 in the morning! You should arrive there at 10 o'clock, otherwise one day is not enough to play, because there are two places. And Cangshan will not sell tickets at 2:30 in the afternoon. It is recommended that you buy tickets in advance at night, which is much cheaper. It costs 340 yuan per person to buy on site! It is 20 yuan more expensive than online!
The experience of being surrounded by fog, I couldn't see a lot at first, but it was really beautiful when I got to the top with the sun. Finally I reached the top of the mountain, it was not cold, but it was cold when I got up, and it was very hot when I walked halfway. I suggest you don't buy down jackets, it's a waste of money. The scenery of Ximatan is really beautiful when walking. But I just have a little altitude sickness.
The Gantong Cableway we took didn't have much scenery, except for the Qingbi River Zhenlong Chess Game and an observation deck. Gantong Temple and Jizhao Temple were quite far away, so we didn't go there.
There is a cave, but we walked through it quickly. Other than that, there is nothing special.
If you go to Dali, you must climb Cangshan Mountain and tour Erhai Lake. Cangshan Mountain has 19 peaks, which form a strong contrast with Erhai Lake. I went with two fellow hikers. It took us about five or six hours from going up the mountain to going down the mountain (the whole journey was on foot, or at least by cable car). We walked along the Yudai Road Yunyou direction, which was about a quarter of the whole journey (the journey was really too long, and we went in the afternoon). If you are a mountaineering enthusiast, it is recommended to challenge the whole journey. There was a foreign friend who was traveling with me. He was a young man who loved mountaineering very much. I could hardly keep up with his pace. We had a lot of fun together and forgot the fatigue of mountaineering. It was a very pleasant mountaineering trip. As a Chinese, I am very proud to see foreign friends love the beautiful mountains and rivers of the motherland.
There are three cableways in Shangcang Mountain. The middle one is the largest one with two cableways. Of course, the cost is the most expensive. However, the second cableway is open or not every day depending on the weather. It is more risky (it is the rainy season now, with heavy rain and strong winds. It may be closed at any time. If you exchange tickets at the visitor center, you must return to the visitor center within two hours to refund the ticket if it is closed on site, otherwise you cannot refund it). Because we are not driving by ourselves and do not have a car, it is not easy to get a car or Didi now (it is said that Didi has gone to Erhai Lake this month). We can only take the free transportation bus at the visitor center. If we want to refund the ticket, we must take the transportation bus back to the visitor center, so the ticket and the time for the first trip will be gone, or wasted. Therefore, we decided to buy the farthest cableway (Gantong Cableway), but this cableway can only be used for the first half. We can hike to the big cableway on Yudai Road, and then take the cableway up or down according to the situation. This is the best plan, but we don’t know that we bought the round-trip cableway of Gantong. If we go to the Seven Fairies on Yudai Road, it will be too tiring to walk back and take the cableway.
When we took the cable car down the mountain, we found that the railings that were empty when we came were now filled with tourists queuing to go up the mountain. The queue was like a snake and reached the door. It would probably take more than an hour to wait just to get on the cable car. The key point was that there were still cars full of people being transported here. Looking at this scene, I was glad in my heart that I didn't sleep in and came early. It's true that the early bird catches the worm.
Looking at Cangshan Mountain, your heart is like still water, and a breeze blows by, creating ripples. Quiet, indifferent, safe, and tranquil... Whether you are roaring and docile, or uneasy and open-minded, you can quietly wait for the sun, moon, and stars, and watch the flowers bloom and fall. In the past and present lives, Cangshan Mountain will be your companion.
The towering Cangshan Mountain and the clear Erhai Lake. The charm of Cangshan Mountain is far greater than that of Erhai Lake (even after the inhumane management of Erhai Lake, there is no good scenery). It is just a big bubble.
Looking from the top of Cangshan Mountain, there are warning signs everywhere saying "No Trespassing", almost one every two meters, which are as annoying as dog-skin plasters.
The more beautiful one is the Seven Fairies Lake in the middle of the way, as shown in the picture
At first, I didn't understand the charm of Cangshan Mountain and almost didn't go. Later, I thought about Cangshan Mountain and Erhai Lake. It would be a pity to go to Erhai Lake without going to Cangshan Mountain, so I went. Fortunately, I went, otherwise I would regret it.
There are three cableways in Cangshan Mountain, which are not connected to each other. The highest cableway can reach the top of Cangshan Mountain, but it is also the most expensive. The round trip plus the ticket cost nearly 280 yuan per person. Thinking that my family has no obsession or preference for snow, we chose the Gantong Cableway (one-way) to the middle of the mountain, climbed a little higher, and then took the cableway down the mountain from the Qilongnuchi Station of the cableway. After playing, I think this choice is very good
Outside the entrance of Gantong Cableway is Gantong Temple, which has the Jizhao Temple, which is said to be very literary. Unfortunately, I forgot to go there that day and got on the cableway excitedly. There are scenic spots such as Qingbi Creek at the end of Gantong Cableway. You need to walk up some stairs to see these scenic spots. Climbing stairs on the mountain is much more tiring than climbing stairs at a lower altitude. After seeing some of the scenery at the end of Gantong Cableway, you can walk from Yudai Road to Qilongnu Pool. Although it is 4 kilometers, it is fortunate that Yudai Road is a flat road without stairs. The climate in the mountains is suitable, and it feels like walking, leisurely and not tired.
Although it was raining, there were still many people queuing up to go up the mountain. At the foot of the mountain, there were local drivers soliciting passengers, saying that it was a long and tiring walk up, but in fact, it only took about 20 minutes, and you didn't feel tired while watching the scenery and enjoying the beautiful scenery.
Soon the cableway reached the highest peak and continued forward. When we walked out of the door, we found that Cangshan Mountain was like a flower in the fog. Everything was hazy and trance-like, like a dream and ink painting in front of us. The silhouette of the fir trees appeared in the fog, indicating the road ahead. As if in a fairyland, we moved forward all the way. The cutest thing is the plateau cold pine, which is cute and has short tentacles that extend a little bit, looking very neat. Continue to climb up, and giant plateau azaleas surround both sides of the road, creeping to the top of the mountain. You can imagine what a beautiful scene it would be in May every year, with the gorgeous wild azaleas all over the mountains, reflecting the white snow and the blue sky. Along the way, sometimes between the flat land, there is a stream flowing slowly from the highlands. The top of the mountain is shrouded in clouds and mist, as if it is deep in the fairyland. There is a slightly larger cold pine near the top of the mountain, with a beautiful shape. It feels like coming down all the way. There are only two tall plants in the whole Cangshan Mountain, the plateau cold pine and the rhododendron, both of which have round crowns. The whole Cangshan Mountain looks unusually neat and tidy. They are well-behaved, just like class leaders. Although they are not the strongest, the overall impression is excellent.
It is said that the snow on Cangshan Mountain, which lasts all summer, is one of the four famous scenic spots of Dali, namely "wind, flowers, snow and moon", and is also a unique sight in Cangshan Mountain. But we didn't see any snow on the top of the mountain on the day we went there! Its scenery may not be as good as Huangshan Mountain or even Zhangjiajie, but I think Cangshan Mountain is still worth a visit...
There are three cableways in Dali Cangshan:
1. There is a Gantong ropeway (also called the middle ropeway) at Gantong Temple, which ends at Qingbi Creek, and you can see the Cangshan Grand Canyon on the way;
2. Tianlongbabu Film and Television City has a cableway to Ximatan (also known as the big cableway). This route is the longest, the end point is Ximatan with the highest altitude, and the return trip can reach the Seven Dragon Girls Pool;
3. Next to March Street is the Cangshan Cableway (also known as the Zhonghe Cableway), which is an old-style hanging basket. The terminus is at Zhonghe Temple, next to which is the Zhonghe Creek, which leads directly to the head of Yunyou Yudai Road.
The waiting time for the Cangshan cableway is quite long, the top of the mountain is quite cold, and going up and down is very tiring. It is very unrealistic to complete the tour in one day because it consumes a lot of physical energy.
The mountain is full of pine trees, and there are many pine cones on the trees. When we went up the mountain, there were pine cones for sale in the small shop. It turns out that you can eat them.
The best place to see Cangshan Mountain is in the ancient city of Dali; but only by getting close to Cangshan Mountain can you truly feel where the lush greenery is, so we decided to go to Cangshan Mountain in person.
Sitting on the Gantong Cableway, I felt that Lao She's description of Cangshan Mountain as "dense green" was justified. In summer, Cangshan Mountain is completely covered with green, with trees, shrubs, and herbs, 360 degrees around, making it look different from the stone mountains and earth mountains in the north, lush and green against the backdrop of clouds and mist. Looking in the direction of the ancient city, you can see a sea of white houses.
Exit Qingbi Creek, return to the lower exit of the cableway, and turn right to Yudai Yunyou Road. At first, you need to climb up for about 10 minutes. The road is not long, but because of the high altitude, everyone is out of breath. Some people also found wild Panax notoginseng flowers on the side of the road. Yunyou Road is much friendlier to people. It is just a straight walking path with a small uphill slope at most. Walking on Yunyou Road, thick fog gradually rose and rain fell like silk, adding a bit of coolness to the hiking trip. Because the distance is long and it is noon, we only walked half of Yudai Yunyou Road and returned to the original route to prepare to go down the mountain.
I'm going back tomorrow. After much hesitation, I finally decided to go up Cangshan again. This time I chose the Gantong Cableway. The rain stopped at 12 noon. I walked to the Cangshan Gate Tourist Service Station to buy tickets and took the scenic shuttle bus on time at 12:30. The road conditions and traffic management of Dali's scenic spots need to be improved. Chaos and traffic jams! I finally came to the entrance of the cable car. This time, there was no traffic jam but people jam! After queuing for 60 minutes, I finally started the Cangshan Gantong Tour. After about 20 minutes, I got off the cable car and came to the first attraction, Zhenlong Chess Game. I was bored and continued to Qingbi Creek. There were mountains and water, statues and words. It felt a bit interesting! Continue to go up in the direction of Cangshan Grand Canyon and come to the terminal viewing platform. (I don't know why the Cangshan Grand Canyon is closed.) There is a feeling of sudden enlightenment. It's a pity that it rained and there was fog, otherwise this climbing trip would be perfect! At a glance, Cangshan, Erhai Lake, the ancient city, blue sky, white clouds, and cableway are all in sight! On the way, there is a 4.5-kilometer walking trail leading to the Ximatan Cableway, but I gave up because I didn't have the energy. In summary, I personally think that the cost-effectiveness of the Gantong Cableway far exceeds that of the Ximatan Cableway.
The cable car costs 320 RMB per person! There are down jackets available for rent on the mountain and at the bottom of the mountain, and the price is the same! For reference, Cangshan Mountain has an altitude of 4000+. It rained on the day we went there, and the fog on the mountain was very heavy and cold. We couldn’t see anything, so we went up to eat and take selfies, and recorded a few Douyins! That’s it!
You need to take the cable car to go up Cangshan Mountain. Tickets can be picked up two hours after booking online. Because the cable car down the mountain leaves at 4:30 at the latest, it is recommended to book tickets early. Of course, you can also buy tickets on site, but after witnessing the long queue of ticket purchases, it is recommended to buy online. Tickets purchased online can also be picked up at the entrance of Dali Ancient Town without queuing. There is also a shuttle bus that delivers you to the entrance of the scenic area for free, and the journey takes about 10 minutes. There are full and half journeys to Cangshan Mountain. The half journey goes up to the halfway point, and the full journey can reach the top of the mountain. You can arrange it freely according to your own itinerary preferences. I went to Cangshan Mountain at 1:00 pm and caught the last cable car down the mountain. I felt a little rushed. For reference only
The cable car is a bit steep, so those who are prone to height sickness should exercise caution. One of our tall and strong tourists who was going up the cable car was so frightened that his face turned pale and he was shaking all over. He didn't dare to open his eyes and said that this trip would shorten his life by 5 years.
It is said that the most beautiful season here is from March to May, when the mountains are covered with azaleas. Just looking at the pictures, you can already feel the irresistible beauty.
Halfway up the mountain, more than 3,000 meters high, the sun was shining, the mountain flowers were brilliant, the mountain road was steep, and the branches and leaves were lush. Standing in the open area, Paopao shouted "All the mountains are small at a glance", feeling relaxed and happy. It was a pity that the jade belt was cloudless. The jade belt was cloudless, and the mountain scenery was average. Only the cable car was a surprise.
I read a lot of information in advance, and they all said that the Jade Belt Road in Cangshan is particularly beautiful. If you are physically fit, you can definitely go up, walk the Jade Belt Road, then go up from the Seven Dragon Girls Pool to the Horse Washing Pool and back, then continue the Jade Belt Road, and finally go down the mountain from the Zhonghe Cableway. There are three cableways in Cangshan, and the price of each cableway is different.
1. Gantong Cableway: one way ¥60, round trip ¥100
2. Ximatan Cableway: Round Trip ¥340 (Seven Dragon Girl Pool Half Ropeway: Round Trip ¥180)
3. Zhonghe Cableway: one-way ¥60, round trip ¥100
