Wase Town is located on the east bank of Erhai Lake. It is one of the main places for tourists to stay beside Erhai Lake and is a beautiful small fishing village.
This is one of the birthplaces of Bai nationality’s native culture in the Erhai Lake area, the religious and cultural center on the east bank of Erhai Lake, and the place with the most Bai nationality’s ancient buildings and gatehouses.
There are beautiful sea views facing Cangshan Mountain and Erhai Lake, and there are many well-equipped and very bourgeois inns. The famous Erhai Little Putuo is also here.
Compared with the famous Shuanglang, Wase Town is relatively quiet, and the prices of accommodation and meals are relatively affordable.

A town under the jurisdiction of Dali City, Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, it is located in the central and eastern part of Dali City, connected to Binchuan County in the east, Haidong Town in the south, Erhai Lake in the west, and Shuanglang Town in the north.
The crew of "Where the Wind Goes" once filmed here.
Xiao Putuo is the last stop of our tour around Erhai Lake. Xiao Putuo was built in the Ming Dynasty and is an independent two-story pavilion-style building on an island. It is said on the Internet that you can take a boat to the island Putuo, but when we went there, we didn't find any boats carrying tourists. Instead, we saw some people moving around on the opposite Putuo. However, there are many seagulls near the shore. Throwing food to them, you can see the seagulls flying and dancing together. They seem to have gotten used to tourists competing to feed them and are eating happily.
It's a very amazing scenic spot. Compared with other scenic spots, it is quieter.
A homestay near the sea, a place with wind, a quiet experience, a long aftertaste
The scenery of the road to Wase is pretty good. This route is the best for going around Erhai Lake

Wase was formerly known as Luchuan. It has a long history and is blessed with beautiful natural conditions. It is a beautiful and rich land of fish and rice on the east bank of Erhai Lake and the birthplace of the Bai ethnic group's native culture. It is home to numerous water birds and pleasant sea views. It is the most suitable place for taking photos at Erhai Lake, among which the Wase waterway has the reputation of "No. 1 Photography Location" and "Holy Land for Wedding and Travel Photography".
I couldn't find it the first time I went there, but later my friend took me there for a walk, and it was indeed beautiful, with many people taking wedding photos.
If you start from Dali Ancient Town and drive towards Wase, the scenery along the way can be said to be excellent, and it is also the main location for various travel photography. Driving a convertible along the beach is awesome.
The town of Wase is also undergoing renovation, following the pace of Shuanglang, but the noise is not as loud and the roads are still passable. This is a small town, where local people live. There is no hustle and bustle of business, and no crowds of tourists. The black-tiled and white-walled town is inhabited by Bai people, and the old buildings have eaves and corners, leaving a retro feel.
In addition to being more pristine and quieter than Dali Ancient Town and Shuanglang, it has two biggest advantages. First, every winter, the seagulls that fly from Siberia to Erhai Lake to spend the winter are almost all concentrated in Wase Town; second, it is located on the east coast of Erhai Lake, which is the best place to enjoy the sunset by the Erhai Lake.
鐵皮船很有特色 其他部分就一般般
The seaside scenery is beautiful and the sea breeze is particularly cool
A small path extending into the water. It would be beautiful to take pictures from a distance.
There is a viewing platform in Wase Town. It is the best place to see Erhai Lake. You can feel the sea and sky as one and the clouds on the mountain. It is so beautiful. It is so pleasant to blow the wind on the beach. The weather is quite good today. There are many people taking pictures here. It feels so comfortable.
I only saw one or two seagulls occasionally during the season I went there. Standing on the shore opposite to Xiao Putuo, I could clearly see the clouds from the top of Cangshan Mountain pouring out from behind the mountain, stretching eastwards and rushing towards me. It was very spectacular. If I was lucky, I could also see the Jesus light in the clouds. The translucent ribbon of light shone on the water, sparkling and giving people a feeling of radiance.
Walking from Shuanglang towards Xiaoputuo, there is a water platform near Xiaoputuo in Wase Town. The scenery of the scorching sun and blue waves gives you a feeling of the sea and sky being one line apart! This is also one of the landmarks for many newlyweds to take wedding photos on the edge of Erhai Lake.
I walked around the market, replenished my water, bought a box of watermelon, and walked a little bit before I came out. It didn't feel very special. There were many people taking pictures at the pier opposite the entrance of Wase Town, and some were even diving.
We rented a tram to go around the lake, but we didn't make it because we were slow. The scenery here is beautiful, with lakes and mountains, and the birds are amazing. When the pigeons fly, it is still spectacular.
Next to Shuanglang, about 10 kilometers away, this is a great place to watch seagulls. If you are lucky, you can take a photo of a row of seagulls taking off. Xiaoputuo is in the middle of Erhai Lake, about 50 meters from the shore. You need to take a boat to get there, which costs 25 yuan per person.
When we arrived at Wase Town, we saw a road that extended into the sea, like a right-angled ruler. In summer, the road was exposed. In March, there would be a shallow layer of water on it, and waves would occasionally come up. But that day, the wind was high and the waves were fierce, so the waterway was closed to entry.
Leaving Xiaoputuo and heading north, we came to a small forest in Wase Town. It can be seen that it is a holy place for wedding dresses and photo shoots. Many photographers are taking photos for customers. It may be more beautiful in the summer when the branches and leaves are lush. The upward shooting in the forest is a bit like abstract art.
There are many iron boats in the grove, which are also common elements in many wedding dresses and photo shoots near the Erhai Lake. They are big props that cannot be taken away, but unfortunately I don’t even have a model.
I always feel that the trees growing in water have a unique temperament, especially in areas with open water.
Seeing so many trees with unique temperaments, I couldn’t help but use the tripod and ND1000 to take some long exposure photos.
Rent a car at Caicun Pier and the local driver will take you to beautiful sights you never imagined!
There is a road in the water in Wase. Because it has been in the water for a long time, the edges are covered with moss, which is indeed a bit slippery. This place is still very famous, and many people come here to take pictures and walk around. But I think it is more suitable for summer. When wearing sandals, you can walk farther in the water, and there will be fewer people when taking pictures.
This section is also my favorite part of the whole trip. Going along the highway, there is a towering hillside on the left and Erhai Lake on the right, which is very beautiful under the sunlight. I don't know why, at that moment I thought of the aerial photos of Jeju Island in South Korea in the TV series. We also have such a beautiful place. It's a pity that we can't go up the mountain. Going forward, there is a small hill by the sea on the right (let's define it as such), with some dry grass and straight tree trunks, which is very attractive.
There are places to stop and admire, including trees in the water and vintage ships.
There is a rest platform beside the seaside road in Wase Town. There are many fishing boats on the beach outside the platform. The seaside road in Wase Town is very close to the waterfront platform. Although the waterfront platform has been closed due to the recent high tide, there are still people climbing over the railings to take pictures.
After Shuanglang was closed, Wase and Xizhou became the most beautiful places on the Erhai Lake loop. Xiao Putuo and Wase Pier are two must-see attractions in Wase Town. Wase Town also has the most seagulls in Erhai Lake. The supporting services in Wase Town are also very complete, so you don't have to worry about food, accommodation and transportation. The only pity is that the lake view rooms are not facing the water, and there is a road in the middle.
If you come to a place like Erhai Lake, it seems that something will be missing if you don't stay in a sea view room. So I hope that Erhai Lake will be rectified as soon as possible, so that later friends can also see a more beautiful Erhai Lake.
Bubble got up early and went to the top floor to watch the sunrise.
I slept until I woke up naturally, went downstairs to have breakfast, and then returned to my room and sat by the window, watching the lake water becoming increasingly blue as the sun rose and exclaiming in amazement. I took photos with my phone and sent them to my girlfriends far away to tell them how beautiful the scenery here is.
Just passing by... went directly to Xiao Putuo
It doesn't take long to ride a small electric bike from Jinyin Bay. The scenery along the way is also very beautiful. The sunset is very beautiful
The most beautiful sunset is in Da Se, and we just caught it
The time is about 7:45
The sunset was so fast that I could see it was still in the sky and then it fell into the Cangshan Mountain.
The sunset is really beautiful.
The photos taken after sunset are still beautiful. Many people take wedding photos on this road in Wase.
Wide and bright vision
Facing Cangshan Mountain, with Wase at your back and Erhai Lake at your feet
A popular spot for taking beautiful photos. You must go there. There is a small town next to it where you can rest.
The scenery along the way was super beautiful, and we were just in time for the sunset. There is a pier in Wase, where a lot of people take pictures. You can take off your shoes and stand on the shore to enjoy the Erhai breeze, letting the sea water cover your feet again and again.
The most famous thing about Wase Town is the long road on the water. It was afternoon when I went there, and the wind was very strong. However, the scenery was a little different from the pictures I saw online before. Although there were no seagulls, it was still very beautiful. There were villages all over the area, and this was the only tourist spot. Erhai Lake is now cleaning up the sewage, so there is a lot of dust and the transportation is also inconvenient. It is recommended to rent a car or charter a car. Battery cars are not recommended.
Looking back at Cangshan Mountain and Erhai Lake from here, the view is very good
In fact, the color of the digging is not very distinctive, but when I rode my bike through here, I found that there were a lot of birds gathered here, which was quite spectacular.
Wase Town is not far from Xiaoputuo, and there is a supermarket in the town, a market every Tuesday, and several small restaurants. However, most inns have their own restaurants, so it is relatively convenient to travel here.
Rent an electric scooter and drive along the road around the lake to Wase. The scenery is breathtaking.
There are beautiful views everywhere. Drive aimlessly and stop whenever you see something beautiful.
I rode the tram from Shuanglang Town, and there were young people riding trams all along the way. The water in Wase looked clearer. But many places along the way were building houses.
The sea view of Wase Town is very nice, and there are abandoned fishing boats on the roadside for posing.
Enjoy the sea and sky up close with flocks of seagulls accompanying you
Wase Town-Xiao Putuo has migratory seagulls, I like it
Wase Town is close to Shuanglang, and the scenery is really average. It is better to live near Erhai Park opposite Wase, where the scenery is better.
Starting from Shuanglang, it is not far to ride along the Haidong Line for more than ten kilometers. There is no need to go into the village. Only the land extending into Erhai Lake is interesting. There are many people and the road is very slippery. If you want to go in, you should take off your shoes. You can buy some dried fish to feed the seagulls.
Only here and in Xiaoputuo can you feed seagulls! Nothing to do
This is my second time to visit Wase Town. This time I think it is worth visiting because of the seagulls.
The biggest highlight of Wase Town is the unique panoramic pier. Unfortunately, there were too many people when I went there, so it was impossible to take a panoramic photo. I was wearing sneakers, so the water soaked me as soon as I went in. I couldn't walk to the farthest part of the pier at all. This is of course the best place to take pictures and the best place to get close to seagulls. When I arrived in Wase Town, there were many local residents selling biscuits. I followed them all the time. I felt embarrassed not to buy them. They were one yuan a pack. I bought 5 packs. Many people wanted to see the seagulls flying in groups. If you want to take close-up photos with seagulls, Putuo is a little safer. However, the stunning pier in Wase Town is a good place not to be missed.
Nice scenery, good overall feeling, a good place to relax
It's a very peaceful town. If you have time, you can stay here for a few days.
After lunch, we drove to Wase Town, east of Erhai Lake. The inn was next to Xiaoputuo. We really didn't want to take the narrow and crowded sea-circling road anymore, so we took the outer ring highway. Xizhou Town - Wase Town is about 30km, and it took more than half an hour to get there. We passed Shuanglang on the way. When we were having lunch in Xizhou at noon, we met an old couple from Shanghai. They said, "Shuanglang is dirty, messy and poor. We don't want to go there anymore." So we lost interest in going to Shuanglang.
Wase Town is also on the East Huanhai Road. It is a little similar to Xiaoputuo. The most classic thing is that you can enter Erhai Lake to feel it. The small shallow beach in the lake appears and disappears from time to time. It is the best wedding photo shooting spot. There are several couples taking photos. Due to time constraints, we did not go in. We could only appreciate the beauties taking photos. Wase is also undergoing large-scale construction. Like Xiaoputuo, it is probably planned by the local government.
There are many stalls near the pier at the entrance of Wase Town. Locals are selling fish and shrimp there, while we bought some special snacks to fill our stomachs...
One of the classic photography spots along the way in Wase Town, it is right next to Huanhai East Road. It seems to be a pumping station. I have been there several times but have never seen anyone on duty. You can easily climb over the railings. If the water level is low in July and August, there will be many reefs to shoot. If you calm down and shoot, you should be able to produce many great films. Unfortunately, the weather was a bit bad when we went there. The sky was dark and there was no sunshine~
Friendly reminder: There is a unique forest in Wase Town, where many trees are twisted. However, the landmark is not very obvious, and there is only a small path leading in. But once you enter, it is another world. Many locals take wedding photos in it ~ One of the places you cannot miss in Erhai Lake!
Wase Town is very cost-effective and I recommend staying here. The price is much cheaper than Shuanglang. The disadvantage is that it is not on the first line of the sea, and there is a Huanhai East Road in the middle. But I think it is okay, and it is also very convenient to go out to visit Erhai Lake. The only thing to worry about is the occasional passing car at night.
The section of Huanhai East Road from Shuanglang to Wase is the most beautiful. It is directly next to Erhai Lake and there are scenery everywhere. Many people ride small electric donkeys and walk slowly. They stop if they like.
There are also Wase Pier and Xiao Putuo in Wase. Wase Pier has become a holy place for taking photos because of the road in the water. Xiao Putuo is a small temple in Erhai Lake, which can only be visited by boat. The highlight is that red-billed gulls come here to spend the winter. You can see the seagulls up close, this is a must-see!
This attraction was not originally planned, but due to the inconvenience of transportation during the construction in Shuanglang, it was temporarily changed to this place. It is a good place to watch the sunset. The mountains, water, people, sky and colors together paint a dreamy and charming picture.
This is a famous scenic spot located in Wase Town. It is indeed suitable for photographing the sunset. There is a very long section that extends into Erhai Lake in an inverted L shape, which is very beautiful under the afterglow of the setting sun.
Many tourists and those taking wedding photos take photos here, and they need to take off their shoes if they want to take photos.
The scenery along the way was beautiful. Because it was too sunny, I didn't take many photos. I don't know if it was because we caught up with the Wase market. Anyway, there were a lot of people selling things, just like a market, haha. We ate colorful potatoes, jelly, grilled chicken legs, and watermelon on the roadside. I have to say that the colorful potatoes and jelly were especially delicious. I still missed them after I came back, and I was drooling at this time.
There is nothing to see in Wase Town itself, but the Erhai East Road from Shuanglang to Wase and then to Xiaoputuo is very beautiful! Very suitable for riding electric vehicles! The scenery and sea views along the way are very good, and there are many places suitable for photography on the road. Stopping and taking pictures along the way is the best enjoyment of Dali!
We passed a wetland and arrived at Wase Town. At a roadside stall, we ordered a bowl of pea powder (I don't know if this is what it's called), but I think it's the best jelly I've ever eaten in Dali. It's cool, smooth, sour, and spicy, and the taste is endless. There's a stone road next to Wase Town. The water level is a little high, submerging part of the stone road. Many people went into the water to take pictures. From a distance, it looked like they were standing in the sea. I didn't go into the water, first because my shoes and socks were inconvenient, and secondly, I was afraid of being squeezed into the water, haha.
We had lunch at Yinsongyuan Hotel in Wase Town. A little further on we reached Xiaoputuo. Seagulls were like pigeons in the square, snatching biscuits thrown by tourists.
Wase is a small town with a wide variety of snacks and fruits. There is a stone staircase which is a good choice for taking photos.
Be sure to bring an umbrella. It rained in Dali for the two days we were there, but there were also sunny days on the road. So, you must bring sunscreen. Because if it is sunny on Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, the ultraviolet rays are very strong. People with dry skin must prepare a small spray. In addition, the road to Shuanglang is blocked when driving in the direction of Huanhai West Road to the last section, and the front becomes a temporary parking lot, and your car is not allowed to drive down. So it seems impossible to drive along the sea to Wase Town, but if you take the highway, it should be no problem. We accidentally drove on the road up the mountain. We were the only car driving around in the mountain for an afternoon. When we came down the mountain, it was dark and it started to rain heavily. However, we found that Wase Town was also repairing the road... So, it is best to find a local to ask about the situation before traveling.
I rode too fast with a friend I met on the road, so I ended up going alone to enjoy the scenery.
I moved around in the market and helped the uncle who was riding a three-wheeled battery to push the cart. Grapefruits cost three yuan a pound, and a particularly large grapefruit with a thin skin only cost nine yuan. It was so scary.
The original architecture of the Bai people in the alley is far better than that of Shuanglang and Dali Ancient Town. I saw a Bai girl carrying a baby on her back. I wanted to take a sneak shot but was caught. It was so embarrassing.
Along the way, there were various hotels along the beach decorated with parasols, green plants, lounge chairs, vines, broad-leaved wood plants, some twigs and flowers, making me feel as if I was back in Phuket, Thailand.
The most annoying thing is that all the hotels with sea view rooms with full floor-to-ceiling bay windows are named California or California, which makes me feel so low-class. Instead, it makes me yearn for what the real California is like.
In short, riding and taking pictures with your beloved girl will definitely make her look extremely beautiful.
A small commercialized town by the Erhai Lake, very beautiful and relatively quiet, with many farmhouses where you can stay.
It's a very good place to take photos. The light is very good and it comes with a built-in filter. The blue sky and white clouds are so refreshing.
I was on the train from Kunming to Dali. The train attendant was very nice. I wanted to take a picture but was too shy to do so. There weren't many people on the train but there wasn't much going on either. Most of them were sleeper berths, so everyone sat 4 people on each berth. I have chronic rhinitis and can't stand the poor air circulation, so I just stood in the middle of the train. There weren't many people here, the air was good, and the scenery was good, but there were always people coming here to smoke, which made me dizzy. The air was sometimes good, sometimes bad. When will smoking be truly banned in all public places? Smoking is harmful to health, especially secondhand smoke.
A quiet and beautiful town, it takes about 40-50 minutes to get there by electric car from Shuanglang. The widest side of Erhai Lake is in Wase Town, a very beautiful place. If you like quietness, you can consider living there now! There are also small shops along the roadside where you can take a short break, which is nice!
The Bai grandma is so cute. She watched us take pictures and kept asking us to come together.
We went there towards evening and didn't have much time to stay. We could only go to the beach to take some photos. If we had time, we should have stayed longer as the scenery was nice.
I really like the Wase coastal line. There are not many people here, and there are some props for shooting. However, I didn’t get to the part of Wase that extends into the sea, and I don’t know how to get down.
From Wase to Shuanglang, or from Shuanglang to Wase
A great place, worth a visit, unforgettable
Arrived at Wase Town. Wase Town is much smaller than Shuanglang and has not been well developed. Compared with Shuanglang Town, it is very simple and has few shops. I only walked through a few small alleys. There were not many people, only a few villagers wandering around. I did not go deep into the town because I was the only girl and there were not many people. I was still a little worried about the danger, so I returned all the way.
