The Solitary Forest, an ancient banyan tree over 50 meters tall, is known to local ethnic minorities as "Meilongka," which translates to "Single Tree Forest" in Chinese, hence the scenic spot's name. In Xishuangbanna, a single banyan tree is more than just a scenic feature; it also embodies the profound Dai folk culture, Buddhist traditions, and the Dai people's commitment to a harmonious and natural ecological environment.
It is often said that "a single tree cannot make a forest", but in nature, only the banyan tree can "make a forest by itself", breaking the saying that "a single thread cannot make a line, and a single tree cannot make a forest". According to plant experts, this tree is more than 1,000 years old, with a tree area of 2,200 square meters. On the main branches on both sides of the tree, there are 36 aerial roots of varying sizes, which go down vertically, intertwine with each other, coil around the roots, and penetrate into the soil to form a cluster of prop roots connected by roots. It creates a unique landscape of multiple trunks on one tree, which looks like a fence and a natural screen. It is a unique landscape in the tropical rainforest and the artistic charm of nature's magic. It has become the first choice of typical material for photography enthusiasts, outdoor curiosity seekers, botany, and popular science knowledge communicators.

At this hour in Xishuangbanna, the sun gradually rose higher, and the sky brightened. In the distance, the morning mist on Jinuo Mountain slowly dissipated, and the towering peaks gradually became clearer and more distinct. Verdant mountains stretched endlessly into the distance, with no end in sight. Standing on the bridge, the Lancang River flowed gently beneath it. It passed through the city of Banna, silently turning southeast. After flowing another 118 kilometers through the mountains, at Guanlei, it crossed the Yunnan border and became the border between Laos and Vietnam. Thus, our "Lancang River" became their "Mekong River." Nearby, the banks were covered in magnolias and camellias, a dazzling display of red and white. Verdant, large-leaved banyan trees and banana trees shaded the sky. Sitting on a bench beneath the trees, I gazed at the distant sky, the clouds shifting with the wind. Breathing the air, with a temperature of 26°C and a humidity of 65%, I watched the leaves fall silently, and the years passed peacefully. I'm feeling incredibly relaxed right now... I arrived here from Kunming on November 23rd, nearly a week ago. From Shenyang in the northeast to Xishuangbanna in the southwest, it's a long journey, a month of driving, wading through mountains, and sightseeing. Now, this relentless, intense pace is finally over! The thrills still resurface in my dreams, but from today, a comfortable, lazy, slow life begins. It will last for three months, and just thinking about it makes me happy.
Let me briefly describe my journey! I departed from Shenyang on October 22nd, traveling approximately 1,000 kilometers westward through Jinzhou, Chaoyang, and Chengde, Hebei, to Huailai, Zhangjiakou. In Huailai, I visited the ancient city of Jimingyi and continued westward to Datong, Shanxi Province. After visiting the Yungang Grottoes, Huayan Temple, and the Nine Dragon Wall in Datong, I turned south, crossing Shanxi to Huayin, Shaanxi. During my week in Shanxi, in addition to Datong, I climbed Mount Heng, the Northern Peak, and ascended the precariously high Hanging Temple in Hunyuan County. Then, I traveled to Ying County and saw the wooden Sakyamuni Pagoda at Fogong Temple, a wonder of the world. I also climbed Yanmen Pass in Xinzhou and continued south through the border. The Jin Temple in Taiyuan left me with a profound sense of history. In the ancient city of Pingyao, I learned about innovation. Innovation is far more important than just a brick city. The Wang Family Compound in Lingshi County, in modern parlance, is a traditional residential building. But this dwelling is different from other dwellings. Its architectural layout, structural form, and exquisite carvings are unmatched among Chinese dwellings. Every building, pavilion, and hall bears the brilliance of the Chinese nation's ingenuity.
After that, we traveled 180 kilometers west along the mountain road to the Hukou Waterfall on the Yellow River. The waterfall, with its stunning presence, greeted my eyes and drummed on my ears, a welcome to every visitor from afar: under the late autumn sun, it surged and roared unfettered, unbridled and unbridled, amidst the lofty mountains.
On November 1st, we arrived at Puji Temple, west of Yongji City in Yuncheng. It's here that the love story of Zhang Sheng and Yingying unfolds! The "stunning" and "tortured" moments from "Romance of the Western Chamber," a time-honored tale, unfold before our very eyes. That night, we stayed in Hejin County, Yuncheng City, having driven 2,180 kilometers... On December 1, 2018, we arrived by the Lancang River in Xishuangbanna.
Compared to other attractions we visited on this trip, the ticket price is relatively expensive, mainly because we only saw a big banyan tree.
The Dushu Chenglin Scenic Area is located in the development zone of Daluo Town, a provincial-level port. In addition to the main trunk, the big banyan tree also has many pillar roots growing from its branches and inserting into the soil. The pillar roots have turned into another tree, forming a spectacular scene of tree giving birth to tree and roots connected to roots.
Dear friends, the Solitary Tree Forest scenery is lovely. But what's really infuriating is that the ticket sellers and staff at the scenic spot don't even tell you that it's right next to the exit. Instead, they claim it's a 4-5 kilometer walk, daunting you and forcing you to pay more than double the entrance fee for a shuttle bus. It's such a rip-off!
I would like to advise all friends who come here not to be deceived by the local people in the scenic area! If you really want to see it, just buy a ticket and walk directly from the entrance of the scenic area to the exit.
The best photo spot of the single tree in the forest was taken by a peacock photographer.
A big banyan tree, with roots growing from its branches, which becomes very spectacular after a long time.
There's not much to see here. Aside from the Myanmar-China Friendship Pagoda and the ancient tree, there's not much else to see. The performance by the red artists was just average, and there was a calligraphy auction later. It feels like there's still room for improvement.
It's very ordinary. There's no need to come here specially.
The Daluo Port does not mean much to the people of Guangxi. The ports in Guangxi are not bad, with boundary markers everywhere, not to mention cross-border ones.
Xishuangbanna's tourism industry is incredibly complex! We originally chartered a two-day car rental, and on the first day, we went to the Tropical Rainforest Valley and the Chinese Academy of Sciences Botanical Garden. We didn't even need the 150 yuan combined ticket for the Tropical Rainforest Valley show (although the driver offered 120 yuan). We only bought 35 yuan, and since two of us were getting free tickets, this meant the driver couldn't make any extra money from us. Or maybe they were really short on spots for the so-called travel agency's one-day tour of the China-Myanmar border. He was so kind as to let us go for free (other group tours cost 80 or 120 yuan). The next morning, we woke up at 5:00 a.m., and as soon as we got on the bus, the tour guide asked us to hand in our ID cards. (We had repeatedly confirmed with the driver who recommended this tour the day before that they wouldn't ask us to hand in our ID cards, which was why we decided to join the group.) On the bus, we asked the tour guide why we had to hand in our ID cards. His explanation was that the border inspection wanted to see it. I told him that the travel agency said before we came that they would not hand over the ID card. His attitude changed immediately and asked us to get off the bus without handing over the ID card... I was also serious at the time. XX got up so early to wait for your crappy tour. I want to see what you do today! The one-day tour is to take a bus for more than 3 hours, and it takes 1 hour to get to Jade City. It is a walk from Jade City to the Daluo border. Take photos, have lunch, drive 2 minutes to Dushuchenglin, watch a transvestite show, take photos, and return 3 hours to go back to the city and go to boutiques for 2 hours. You are not allowed to leave until 8 pm. The ID card will be returned when you arrive in the city. It was only checked by the border guard on the way in the morning. You don’t know what he did with it all day! Why do you have to hand over the ID card specifically? Is it reasonable? Baidu it yourself
How to say it, it is okay to go there to see the national gate, but it is not worth going there specially. People who go to Banna generally like plants. Those who don’t like plants will not come to Banna. There are still some things to see in the scenic area, such as the single tree forest and the pagoda in Myanmar opposite.

A single tree makes a forest
The branches and leaves look like a fence and a green barrier, becoming a great wonder in the tropical rainforest, breaking the saying that "a single thread cannot make a line, and a single tree cannot make a forest."
There is an ancient and tall tree in the first village, with its branches and roots intertwined, which is worth a look.
After buying tickets to the scenic area and taking the shuttle bus, we wandered in the China-Myanmar border park that looked like a tropical rainforest. Our tour guide, a Dai girl, said that we might end up leaving the country by accident.
The first attraction upon entering the scenic area is the Shwedagon Pagoda in Myanmar. Unfortunately, it can only be viewed from a distance and not touched. Standing on the land of China and looking at the Shwedagon Pagoda in Myanmar so close at hand, it feels like a child lying in front of the window of a cake shop, drooling at the cakes.
The solitary tree forest is a relatively notable landscape in Daluo Town. Although it has been vigorously developed by the government, there are not many tourists. It has a wild and quiet charm. Apart from the rare flowers and plants, the big tree is the main landscape.
This is a popular attraction. The ticket office said a full entrance fee of nearly 200 yuan, apparently including exhibitions and other items. I said I was just going to see the scenery, so I only bought a 50 yuan ticket and a 40 yuan sightseeing bus fare. I decided not to buy anything and instead hiked. It's only a few kilometers, and I walk more every morning during my workout at home. It's a budget trip. From the scenic area, the Shwedagon Pagoda is just over 100 meters away, but it's already in Myanmar.
The Thousand-Armed Guanyin Tree is so tall and thick that it requires three people to hug it. Its branches extend beyond the trees, giving it the appearance of a Thousand-Armed Guanyin. The tree covers an area of over two mu (approximately 1.6 acres), making the entire tree resemble a blooming lotus.
A single tree forms a forest. In addition to its main trunk, the banyan tree also has many pillar roots growing from its branches and inserting into the soil. These pillar roots then become another tree, forming a spectacular scene of trees giving birth to trees and roots connecting to roots.
This attraction is really not good! You can go to Mengjing next to it! The whole attraction is just a rubber forest!
The gardens are very beautiful and less crowded, with performances by Yunnan's multi-ethnic groups and Thai "Red Artists".
It's okay. If you go to the primeval forest or botanical garden, you can ignore it. We went to Daluo Port on the way. If you go there on purpose, it's not necessary. It is a scenic spot bordering Myanmar. The 220 boundary marker is in the scenic area, and there are soldiers standing guard.
Very interesting ethnic culture, and there are transvestite performances
Daluo is on the China-Myanmar border. If you want to go to the port, you can stop by the Dushuchenglin Scenic Area. It is actually not necessary to come here specifically because it is too far.
The location is quite remote. Xishuangbanna's scenic spots are quite scattered, and this one is so far away it's almost as far as Myanmar. The planning is so bizarre that if you don't buy a ticket for the electric bus, you'll be walking like crazy. I bought a ticket during the Spring Festival, but the wait was excruciating. The park also has some commercial performances and a ladyboy show. That stage is truly stunning. It was my first time seeing such ugly ladyboys. And the 50 yuan ticket for this attraction is completely unworthy.
We set out from Jinghong before dawn just to see that tree. There was nothing to see in the whole scenic spot except that tree. The performance was not good enough. We could only see people from ethnic minorities. It was said that there was a ladyboy show, but, haha, if you want to see ladyboys, you should go to Thailand.
As for the scenery, it's not so amazing after visiting the botanical garden, but there are still many ethnic minorities that are not named, which are still very unique. You can wear beautiful clothes and take some photos. But it's too hot and you won't be in the mood.
After visiting various forest parks, this place has become a boring scenic spot. It is far away and a bit disappointing. To put it bluntly, it is just to see a tree.
A single tree forms a forest, and the entire scenic area is supported by a number of ethnic performances, which makes the content a bit richer.
It's not interesting, it's just a big banyan tree growing into a forest
The Dushulin Scenic Area is beautiful. Without leaving the country, you can see the Land of Ten Thousand Pagodas in Shan State, Myanmar, and take photos with the China-Myanmar Friendship Pagoda. The tour guide introduced people in China and scenery in foreign countries. The photos have the time and place, which is very commemorative. You can also learn some history. There is a monument to the remains of the Chinese Expeditionary Force's Anti-Japanese War. There is a Thousand-Armed Guanyin tree on the border patrol road. It is said that it is named after the Thousand-Armed Guanyin holding hands. I think it looks like a beautiful woman with her arms open in a graceful dance. There are many other beautiful scenery in other places, such as the Dushulin Scenic Area, a tree over 1,200 years old, a mysterious mountain village, and the performances of red artists are extremely wonderful. Experience exotic customs. The tour guide explained the details very well and vividly. If there is anything you don't understand, he will patiently explain it to you, making you linger. I really hope to live in Xishuangbanna and marry a beautiful woman in the scenic area. Personally recommend, the Daluo Dushulin Scenic Area is worth visiting. I can recommend the tour guide. The service attitude is good, enthusiastic, smiling, optimistic, and lively.
The scenery is spectacular, with single trees forming forests and clusters of banyan trees, which are hard to find in other places.
The Liangjie Mountain Scenic Area is located between Myanmar and China. There's a small trail leading to Myanmar's Little Mengla. The so-called "one tree forest" is a single banyan tree, and the main attraction is the rubber trees that cover the mountain. From the mountain, you can gaze at Myanmar and the Shwedagon Pagoda, the China-Myanmar Friendship Pagoda in Myanmar. The trail in the picture seems to be heading to Myanmar.
The journey is long, so it is not recommended if you are short on time.
For me, it's nothing special to describe a banyan tree like this. It's pretty common!
Don't go, don't go with a day tour. In the morning, you enter the store alone but you are not forced. In the evening, you buy tea and are deceived. You are verbally attacked as if you have to buy it. It's amazing.
The spectacle of a single tree forming a forest is truly amazing and shocking.
The scenic spot is located at the southernmost tip of the motherland, very close to Myanmar, and you can experience a different magical journey.
The solitary tree forest in Daluo is a scenic spot in Daluo!
Take an electric car tour from the entrance of the scenic area to a sightseeing spot, get off to view and take pictures.
It is a very far scenic spot. I personally think it is not necessary to go so far to see it. There are many single trees in the botanical garden.
This scenic spot is a complete scam. The so-called "one tree forest" is actually a single large tree (the one in the photo), which is plentiful in Xishuangbanna. The most deceptive part is that the tree itself is just 100 meters to the left of the main gate, yet the scenic spot arranges for you to take a sightseeing bus up the mountain and back down, just to legitimately charge you for the bus. Personally, I recommend skipping Daluo Town altogether.
A tree forms a forest with its own aerial roots, marveling at the ingenuity of nature.
If you don't go to Daluo Port, there is no need to come here. The so-called single tree forest is a big tree in the park that has grown many roots and branches. It is better to go to Wangtianshu Scenic Area and walk down the aerial cable bridge.
We have learned before about the "one-tree forest" phenomenon of banyan trees, and now we can see it here. In fact, there are many similar landscapes in Xishuangbanna.
The Dushuchenglin scenic area is generally average and far from the city. It is not recommended to visit it specifically. The cost-effectiveness is originally two stars, plus half a star for the expeditionary force and half a star for the boundary monument, the overall evaluation is three stars
Very beautiful, great environment, well worth a visit
The attractions are rich in content, and there are transvestite performances. I regret not buying banana chips
This place seems to have become a must-see attraction for border tourism. In fact, it doesn't have any special features. Maybe it's because I have seen too many banyan trees. The so-called single tree forming a forest is just like this. It may be less common in the northern region and is most common in the south.
Children, be sure to bring an umbrella or sunscreen; the sun is incredibly scorching. Remember to take photos as you walk. The scenic area is like a botanical garden, showcasing a variety of plants. The concept of a single tree forming a forest is a story of a single tree's stem continuously sprouting roots, which in turn grow into other trees, gradually forming a forest. I especially recommend the pineapples you can buy near the entrance to the scenic area. They're incredibly delicious, not at all sour, but with a fruity sweetness that bursts with juice. While a bit pricey, it's well worth it. Be quick, decisive, and sure-footed. If you're still thinking about buying one to try, it might already be sold out by the time you return. Don't miss out!
The banyan tree has aerial roots, which is amazing and worth seeing. It is really a tree that has become a forest.
Don't go to a tourist attraction that is quite irregular and opaque.
Take a step outside the country and experience the greatness and vitality of the banyan tree.
The natural landscape formed by aerial roots is very eye-catching. They stand on the edge of the development zone like soldiers in formation for a long time, allowing you to feel the mystery and colorfulness of the border.
In the tropics, there are many such scenes of single trees forming forests.
It's a small attraction, the entrance fee is very high, and there's nothing much to see.
The package for the Dushuchenglin scenic area costs 260, which includes the scenic area ticket, electric car, performances by famous artists, etc.
The performance by the red artist lasted about 2 hours and was pretty good. Sitting in the front gave you the opportunity to get up close and personal with the artists. However, cameras were not allowed to take photos, so there are no corresponding pictures here.
The trees are very big and very unique. I heard that many of them are hundreds or even thousands of years old...
There are many tourists in the scenic area, which is close to the China-Myanmar boundary marker. This single tree is a large-leaf banyan tree, which is more than 200 years old.
Located next to Manzhang Village in Daluo Town, close to the China-Myanmar border, there is an ancient banyan tree that is over 900 years old! Its branches and leaves look like a fence and a green barrier.
I went there during the Spring Festival this year. I was quite satisfied with the place. There are some food nearby, such as rice cakes and zongzi, which are very cheap and taste good. They are made by the old lady herself. The sugarcane juice is really good, very sweet, and the price is also reasonable. There is also a souvenir shop nearby.
Xishuangbanna, China-Myanmar border, Daluo Port.
There is a Dushu Chenglin scenic area here, which is close to the boundary marker and customs.
Not far away is the Mengjing Laiyi Village, Two Countries Scenic Area, which was one of the filming locations for the show "Where Are We Going, Dad?"
A banyan tree growing into a small forest through aerial roots is a wonder. Many years ago, we went to worship this tree.
You are generally not allowed to get off the bus at this place. You can take photos directly on the tour bus. It is recommended that you do not get off the bus. The scenic area is full of rubber forests. As you know, there are the most snakes in the rubber forests.
In fact, I am used to seeing many scenic spots in Banna, so I feel disappointed with this unique forest.
Dushuchenglin is a scenic spot, but the ticket price is a bit too high. It is still a primeval forest. Xishuangbanna is full of forest plants, so I didn't plan to go there. There is a Thai ladyboy show here. I have seen ladyboys in Thailand before, so I am not very interested.
I felt the indescribable feeling of standing in front of the boundary marker at the pass.
Admission is 10 yuan per person. A single tree can grow into a forest, hence the name "One Tree Forest." This single tree stands 28 meters tall and is over 200 years old. It is a tropical or subtropical large-leafed fig. Numerous aerial roots grow from the middle of its trunk, intertwining and entwining around its base. Upon entering the One Tree Forest Park and looking up at the towering aerial roots, one is filled with awe and wonder at this amazing and wondrous natural wonder.
The Dushuchenglin Scenic Area feels like a scam. It's just a big tree that's been turned into a scenic area. There are not many tourists and most of the shops are closed.
The branches and leaves resemble both a fence and a green barrier, creating a wonder in the tropical rainforest. Therefore, this unique landscape of a single tree forming a forest has naturally become a must-see for tourists and one of the most popular tourist attractions in Daluo Town.
A single tree forms a forest, where a banyan tree continuously grows aerial roots and eventually forms a forest. The scenic spot is right next to the G320 National Highway, but I only took a quick look at it from the car.
A single tree in a forest is really nothing, it’s just one big tree... Daluo is a classic hiking route, passing through villages and alleys along the way, passing many Dai and Hani villages, and it is close to the China-Myanmar border.
Interesting, various banyan trees and some other parasitic trees, one tree is the boss, very interesting, worth a look
A single tree forming a forest is a banyan tree that continuously grows aerial roots and eventually forms a landscape that looks like a forest. In fact, there is nothing special about it.
There are some scenery that you can’t see in the mainland, so don’t say you will definitely go there if you have the chance, because opportunities are created by yourself!
I don't really like it. It's just a big tree covered with vines. The surrounding buildings were built later and are not attractive.
The Dushuchenglin Scenic Area is a small park, but the ticket price is not cheap and the cost-effectiveness is not high.
As one of the must-see attractions for tourist guides, it has been visited by waves of tourists, some in awe, some curious, and taking photos has become the main theme here every day.
The Du Shu Cheng Lin scenic area is quite large and quite interesting to explore. It is also on the border, with boundary markers, beautiful scenery, and performances. Of course, during the epidemic, the Burmese actors were unable to obtain visas and were absent. The fact that a single tree forms a forest is truly a wonder.
