Jianshui Ancient City, formerly known as Lin'an, was built in the Tang Dynasty and has a history of more than 1,200 years. There are more than 50 well-preserved ancient buildings in the city, which can be called an "ancient architecture museum" and a "residential museum".
The ancient city is not big, mainly consisting of several streets centered on Lin'an Road. The most famous ones in the city are the Confucian Temple and Zhu Family Garden, and there are many ancient buildings worth stopping by.
If you want to stay in the ancient city, in addition to the affordable hotels and inns, you can also go to Zhu Family Garden to experience the feeling of an old house, but the price is not cheap.
In the streets and alleys of Jianshui, roasted tofu can be seen everywhere. Several people sit on small stools, surrounding a small brazier with an iron rack on top, roasting inch-square tofu until it turns a burnt brown color.

Before standing at the gate of Jianshui Ancient City, I had never imagined that there was such a small town with a long history and profound cultural heritage in the southwestern border of our country.
Jianshui Ancient City was built in the Tang Dynasty and has a history of more than 1,200 years. It was the political, economic and cultural center of southern Yunnan during the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, and was known as the "Zou and Lu of Southern Yunnan". Jianshui Ancient City was also once called "Lin'an". It is said that after Wubi Lie conquered the Southern Song Dynasty, he sent the name "Lin'an" of Hangzhou, the capital of the Southern Song Dynasty, to the remote Jianshui to show his contempt for the Southern Song Dynasty. But perhaps "Lin'an" also brought poetry, books and writing to Jianshui. There are more than 50 well-preserved exquisite ancient buildings in the ancient city, which can be called an "ancient building museum" and "residential museum". It seems that only the word "Lin'an" can carry those ancient, exquisite, beautiful and quiet century-old houses.
There is not only the second largest Confucian Temple in the world, but also the Zhu Family Garden in the style of Suzhou gardens. Even walking on the streets of Jianshui, it feels like walking in a small town in the south of the Yangtze River.
Among the famous cities and ancient towns in China, there are not many that can be awarded the titles of both National Historical and Cultural City and National Key Scenic Spot, but Jianshui, where we will stay tonight, has won both titles. The reason why we chose Jianshui Ancient Town is that it has a history of more than 1,200 years. It was the site of the old Lin'an Prefecture. It was the political, economic and cultural center of southern Yunnan during the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, and was known as the "Zou and Lu of Southern Yunnan". There are more than 50 well-preserved exquisite ancient buildings in the city, which can be called an "ancient architecture museum" and "folk house museum".
A day in Jianshui must start with a bowl of soybean milk and tofu pudding made from ancient well water. There are some paid attractions in Jianshui Ancient City, such as the Confucian Temple, Zhu Family Garden, and the Examination Hall, but the essence of the ancient city is definitely not here. Instead of paying to visit these attractions, it is better to walk around the alleys of the ancient city and experience the leisurely life and ancient charm of the ancient city.
Lin'an Road is the main antique commercial street in Jianshui Ancient City, from Chaoyang Tower at the East Gate to Yishuang Tower at the West Gate. Although most of the buildings along the street are antique, they also have their own flavor. There are many old houses inside the West Gate that are worth seeing. Jianshui's old streets and alleys are basically in the south of the city, including Xiaoxi Village, Hongjing Street, Nanzheng Street, Yongning Street, Guandi Temple Street, etc. Only by wandering in these alleys can you feel the history and culture of Jianshui.
There are also many old houses preserved on Yinghui Street and its branch roads outside the east gate of Jianshui.
Jianshui’s specialty, the lion cake, is actually shachima.
There are still mottled door gods on the door of the old house.
If you are lucky, the sunset and afterglow at Ximen are very beautiful.
Jianshui is famous for its grilled tofu. Walking in the streets and alleys of Jianshui, almost every restaurant sells grilled tofu. So if you don't eat grilled tofu, it's like a wasted trip to Jianshui.
Almost all of Jianshui's ancient city walls have been demolished, with only a short section remaining in the northwest corner. The inscriptions on the wall bricks indicate its maker.
In Jianshui, small restaurants light charcoal fires every morning, which is the unique flavor of Jianshui. Rice noodles and grilled tofu are the perfect match in the minds of Jianshui people.
Rice noodles with baby yellow beef with skin are, in my opinion, the most delicious rice noodles in Jianshui.
In addition to grilled tofu and rice noodles, Jianshui also has a famous dish called steamed chicken.
Jianshui Ancient City is a place with a strong atmosphere of life. It is very suitable for living for a period of time, rather than just visiting various attractions. In the morning, drink a bowl of soybean milk; stroll in the ancient city; drink a cup of spring water from Dabanjing; sit by the charcoal fire of grilled tofu and eat a bowl of rice noodles and a few pieces of grilled tofu; in the evening, go to the East Gate or Confucius Square to watch the local cigarette box dance; at night, watch an old movie with the locals at the mobile phone city under the archway of Beizheng Street. All these are the life in Jianshui Ancient City that makes me dream. I hope you have the opportunity to experience it for yourself!
Jianshui Ancient City has a history of more than 1,200 years. There are more than 50 ancient buildings preserved in the city, which is known as the "Ancient Architecture Museum". Chaoyang Tower was built 28 years earlier than Tiananmen Square. It still stands tall and majestic despite the wind and rain, and is a landmark building in the ancient city. The large-scale Confucian Temple is second only to the Confucius Temple in Qufu and the Confucius Temple in Beijing in terms of architectural level and integrity. Here you can deeply feel the strong atmosphere of respecting Confucius and Confucianism.

Zhu Family Garden (¥35): The "Grand View Garden" of southern Yunnan, a Qing Dynasty mansion with 42 patios and a maze-like layout
Jianshui Confucian Temple (¥40): The second largest Confucian temple in China, with a 700-year history. The Xuehai Pond and dragon-carved screen gate are must-sees.
Shuanglong Bridge (free): Seventeen-arch ancient bridge, best for taking photos at sunset
Tuanshan Folk Houses (¥20): A World Cultural Heritage Site, a 600-year-old Yi ancient village
Jianshui Ancient City has been around for thousands of years, yet it seems close at hand. It is known as the living Yunnan Ancient City Museum. The ancient city foundation and layout have a fresh cultural atmosphere. When you are in it, you can feel its historical heritage and smell the fireworks of the city.
【Itinerary】:
If you travel to Kunming, you might want to arrange a day to visit this charming ancient city. It is located about 220 kilometers south of Kunming. You can choose to take a bus or some tourist special lines. In the morning, you can go to the ancient city to check in Chaoyang Tower and Zhu Family Garden, and like the locals, you can gather around the oven and often bake fresh tofu. In the afternoon, take a century-old retro train, shuttle between ancient villages, and take a look at the famous Seventeen-Arch Ancient Bridge.
During the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty, the capital of Lin'an was moved from Tonghai to Jianshui
Brick walls and four towers were built, which determined the layout of today's Jianshui Ancient City.
Although the travelers who have been there have praised it highly
But it is not affected by development at all and maintains a relatively good original pattern.
The ancient city is not big, and it is very convenient to eat and live.
No need to plan routes deliberately
You can see many historical sites by strolling along the alleys
You can also take a look at the intricately carved door heads and painted plaques of the wealthy families of the past.
Encounter an ancient well that still functions today
The ancient city is full of life, with a certain degree of commercialization, but also many locals. The ancient city is very large, with many cultural relics and historical sites, which can prove its prosperity in the past. The alleys at night are filled with the aroma of roasted tofu, and steamed chicken is also a delicacy that cannot be missed.
Chaoyang Tower, the gateway to Jianshui Ancient City.
It was built during the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty, with four large characters "雄镇东南" inscribed on it.
At first I was very curious. Isn’t Yunnan in the southwest? Why is it in the southeast? Later I figured it out. Isn’t Jianshui in the southeast of Yunnan?
Put down your luggage and stroll in Jianshui Ancient City. The most famous ones in the city are the Confucian Temple and Zhu Family Garden. In addition, there are many ancient buildings worth stopping at. However, if you are not particularly interested in these paid ancient buildings, there is really no need to visit them.
Jianshui Ancient City is located in Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture. The Nanzhao regime was built in 810 AD and the earthen city was built in the 5th year of Yuanhe in the Tang Dynasty. It was expanded into a brick city in the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty. The east gate tower - Chaoyang Tower, has survived many wars and is still standing. In this small frontier city, there is actually a Confucius Temple second only to Qufu. Dabanjing in Jianshui Ancient City was built in the early years of the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty. It has been used for thousands of years. The well mouth is very large. There are actually two red fish in the well. Many people bring their own containers to get water. Most tourists are very interested in the fish in the well. Zengji Banjing Tofu Shop is just opposite Dabanjing. It is said that the tofu shop can be traced back to the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty. Now it is the sixth generation of descendants. It has been on the tip of a tongue of China. The first floor is the tofu workshop, which can be visited.
Jianshui Ancient City is an ancient city with a long history and is listed as a national historical and cultural city. Many ancient buildings have been preserved so far, and it is known as the "Ancient Architecture Museum" and the "Folk House Museum". The most famous is the Zhu Family Garden, which is great! I recommend friends who have time to visit it.
Jianshui Ancient City is called an ancient city, but it is basically a modern city. However, there are still many important historical sites preserved in this city, such as the Confucian Temple, Zhu Family Garden, the Examination Hall for Academic Officials, Chaoyang Tower, religious temples, ancient dwellings, ancient wells, etc. There is culture, history, food, and ancient buildings here, which is very worth visiting.
When traveling to Jianshui, the main attractions are Jianshui Ancient City and the surrounding Tuanshan Village and Yanzidong. The main attractions in Jianshui Ancient City include the Confucian Temple, Zhu Family Garden, Xuezheng Examination Hall, Zhilin Zen Temple, Chaoyang Tower, etc. Among them, the Confucian Temple and Zhu Family Garden are the two most important. When you come to the ancient city, you can also explore the ancient wells of different shapes scattered throughout the ancient city. Among them, the Dabanjing outside the west gate is the last well. There is a Banjing Tofu Shop next to it. You must come here to taste a bowl of local tofu pudding.
Jianshui Ancient City is similar to all ancient cities in terms of structure;
Yongzhen Gate is in the north, Chaoyang Tower is in the east; the west gate is called Qingyuan Gate, and the south gate is Huancui Tower (also known as Fu'an Gate).
Unlike Shouchun or Pingyao, time has destroyed most of the city area, and only four remaining city gates should be rebuilt.
It is not as well-known as Dali, but its cultural history is no less than that of Dali. The key is that there are relatively few people. It is the halfway point to Mile and Yuanyang.
The ancient city scenery of Jianshui is relatively modern... The combination of commercial and scenic views is good! ! Recommended
Highly recommended, five-star comfort and five-star intimacy
This is a truly 800-year-old ancient city, and it's very comfortable to walk around.
Jianshui Ancient City is a well-preserved ancient city. The ancient bridge, Confucius Temple, Doufufang and Examination Hall have maintained their original appearance.
I accidentally passed by a small town, but the travel experience was very good. I will never forget it. The prices are very low, the fruits are sweet, and the city rhythm is in sync.
Jianshui Ancient City is a famous historical and cultural city and a key scenic spot in China.
Stayed in Jianshui for a few days. It is a beautiful, historic, clean and quiet place.
I recommend Hanlin Street, which has been changed into a pedestrian street in 2018. There are many food stalls in it, and the taste is very good. I recommend an "Old Terrace Snacks", the boss is very nice, and the tofu is charged by piece, 0.6 yuan/piece. The consumption of the stalls here is not very high, about 10-15 yuan per person, and you can eat enough.
It's not as good as I imagined. Maybe I've seen too many ancient towns, so I feel that it lacks characteristics and the atmosphere is average.
This is an ancient city with a strong local life atmosphere. There are small shops that have been open for forty years and are still only a few square meters, inns with lanterns hanging all over them that seem to be full of stories, ancient wells where people in the ancient city draw water every day, and the aroma of roasted Ximen tofu wafting in the air. This is an ancient city where you can experience the flavor of an ancient city.
There are not many elements targeting tourists in Jianshui Ancient City at the end of October. The bustling streets are like those in every city, with mostly brand stores. There are especially many shops selling homemade purple pottery utensils in the ancient city, and each utensil is labeled with their own name.
The ancient city is not big. A main street called Lin'an Road runs through it. It takes 20 minutes to walk from south to north. The ancient bluestone road is up and down, and some scenic spots are also distributed nearby. After dinner in the evening, walking on the street, the night is like water, and the ancient city gradually becomes quiet.
It is open all day and free, and the lively shops have already started to sell snacks, fresh fruits and vegetables, ceramics, handicrafts, and daily necessities. But compared to those ancient towns that have long been purely commercialized, it is very touching to see that this place still retains a lot of the purity of local life...
At the west gate of the ancient city, there is a Daban Well, which is known as the "No. 1 Well in Southern Yunnan". Today, although the residents of Jianshui Ancient City have long used tap water, the drinking water of most houses still comes from the Daban Well at the west gate. Every morning and evening, people can be seen pulling a horse-drawn carriage carrying "Ximen Well Water" and selling it along the street (it seems to be 3 yuan per bucket), which has become a unique landscape. As Jianshui is a city that specializes in producing tofu, the "Ximen Tofu" made with "Ximen Well Water" is naturally the most famous. Next to the ancient well is Zengjia Banjing Tofu Shop, which was once featured on CCTV's "A Bite of China".
There are many archways in the ancient city. The roads are all stone slabs. Generally, people walk on these roads. In Jianshui, cars can pass through, but the passages in the towers are relatively small. Fortunately, there are not many people in the city.
The ancient city generally has two-story buildings, and the deeper ones are only four stories high. The environment is still well preserved.
The ancient town of Tongue and Fengwei have visited to film programs. As foodies, we must come. Jianshui Ancient Town can actually be called Tofu Ancient Town, because when you go there, you will find that there are all kinds of grilled tofu shops, whether on the main road or in the remote alleys. There are a group of people gathered around the charcoal stove, the shop owner grilled small tofu, and the customers ate it with various snacks. This is a paradise for foodies and a very special experience. Jianshui Ancient Town is the most lively ancient town among all the ancient towns and cities I have visited. There is no strong commercial atmosphere, but it is full of the atmosphere of people living and working in peace and contentment. It is so simple and casual.
Walking in the streets of the ancient city, even the most ordinary famous houses retain their original and simple appearance. The streets of Jianshui are not as bustling as those in tourist cities, but more like the real life of the locals.
The trees beside the ancient bridge stretch outward as far as they can, with their roots intertwined and gnarled, complementing the attic on the bridge, as if they have accumulated many stories to tell. When you approach this ancient bridge, it feels like you have walked into a parallel time and space, where time seems to have slowed down, lengthened by the smooth bluestone slabs, the flickering light and shadows, and the crisp sound of wind chimes.
This town is seldom visited by tourists, but the locals love tofu. You can always see locals carrying bags of tofu on the road, or eating tofu roasted in a big oven in a roadside shop. There is a well wherever you go in the alley, and you can occasionally see residents fetching water, swinging ropes with skilled techniques to turn over the buckets floating on the water and fill them with well water. There is a primitive side to the town, with a DVD store.
I was very happy when I first entered Jianshui. The whole city was ancient and peaceful.
The reason I came to Jianshui was to visit my uncle and his family. I found out when I was doing some research before coming here that the TV series "12 Tastes of Chef Nic" was filmed here, and I was deeply impressed by the episode of "Grass Buds" that was broadcast at that time. So "Grass Buds" must be a delicacy that I will not miss this time.
I only found out when I visited Zhu Family Garden that Jianshui is the hometown of purple pottery. Nowadays, purple pottery is all handmade, because adobe is cheap and purple pottery is not yet popular, so there is no need for machines to produce it. I felt like I had made a fortune, but I only knew a little about tea art, so I only bought a few items that I liked.
The appearance of Jianshui ancient city has basically disappeared, and an ancient street has been renovated in recent years. It has a strong commercial flavor. Fortunately, the city is not big and the population is not large, so it is still nice to stroll around. Jianshui purple pottery is famous and the price is also high.
Jianshui Ancient City is located in Jianshui County, including Chaoyang Gate, Confucian Temple, Zhu Family Garden, etc. There was a small episode in Jianshui Ancient City. Walking on a street near Zhu Family Garden, a farmer couple was selling pears. We had never seen this kind of pear before and didn't know how to choose it, so we asked the aunt selling pears to help us choose. I only bought 2, tasted them, weighed them, and before paying, I took one of the pears and turned it to see that it was a rotten pear. Oh, a woman who looks honest turned out to be a profiteer. Forget it, I won't buy it. Despite this, Jianshui County is still good.
Jianshui tofu is very famous, and it tastes delicious whether it is roasted, fried or stewed.
I like the food here, I like the architecture here, I like the simplicity here, and I like the lack of noise here.
Jianshui Ancient Town is not big. It is the most well-preserved of all the ancient towns I have visited. The people are simple and honest, and it has not been overdeveloped. Most importantly, it is really cheap. A meal at the most famous restaurant in the ancient town costs only a little over 100 yuan for two people.
Jianshui is a place suitable for relaxation.
Recommended index five stars
After visiting, I felt that it was a very nice place, not much developed yet, quite pristine and down to earth. Almost all the people living in the ancient town are locals, so it is worth considering if you like tranquility.
After seeing Chaoyang Tower, we stepped into the ancient streets of Jianshui Ancient City.
The age-old Jianshui People's Shopping Mall reminds me of the hustle and bustle of the market.
The entire street is lined with distinctive shop signs made of wood, which blend in with the ancient city and exude an ancient fragrance.
People come and go in the ancient city, and everyone lives here. Unlike other highly commercialized ancient cities, the shops here are all for people's daily needs.
Jianshui was an unplanned attraction on this trip, but I didn't regret it after going there.
Jianshui is an ancient city worth visiting in Yunnan. It is not as commercialized as Dali and Lijiang. You can experience a slow-paced life here. The most important thing is that there are so many delicious foods here.
Maybe it is because it is close to the Spring Festival, the tofu stalls are not very busy at night, but the stall owners still grill not only tofu at this time, but also potatoes, sweet potato skewers, eggs, steamed buns, various vegetables and other grilled foods.
For an ancient town, I prefer to feel its tranquility at night and in the early morning, rather than on weekdays when it is crowded with tourists and bustling. Of course, I also have to walk my dog.
Jianshui is the kind of destination that people want to keep to themselves. Fresh, elegant and leisurely may be the way to describe the temperament of this small city. Unlike those commercialized ancient cities in Yunnan and other parts of the country, this is still a "living" ancient city, where residents are still the masters and life is still the function of the city.
This trip to Jianshui was a prelude to Yuanyang, so I only visited three famous spots: Zhu Family Garden, Shuanglong Bridge, and Chaoyang Gate. There are still many attractions in the ancient city. If you are interested, you can arrange a 2-day tour. It is also nice to take the Jianshui train for a slow tour. I will come again if I have the chance.
Jianshui Ancient City has a history of more than 1,300 years. It is one of the four ancient cities in Yunnan. Jianshui Ancient City is listed as a national historical and cultural city. The ancient city has gone through 12 centuries of construction and has preserved more than 50 ancient buildings. It is known as the "Ancient Architecture Museum" and the "Folk House Museum". Jianshui is the most unforgettable stop of this Yunnan self-driving trip. I didn't expect it to have such a rich history, and there are traces of the passing of time everywhere. Walking in the ancient city, you rarely see bustling tourists, and there are only locals coming and going, busy. Therefore, it is very different from Dali and Lijiang, which have a strong commercial atmosphere.
Jianshui Ancient City is a famous historical and cultural city in China. After 12 centuries of construction, more than 50 ancient buildings have been preserved so far. It is known as the "Ancient Architecture Museum" and "Residential Museum". The folk customs are simple, especially the snack "baked tofu" outside the west city tastes good.
The ancient city of Jianshui is quite large. The center of the ancient city is the famous Chaoyang Tower, which is divided into four streets: east, south, west and north. Some of the historical sites in the city are also located on these four streets.
But I didn't expect that there were buses in the ancient city, the ticket was one yuan and the front and rear doors were never closed even when the bus was in motion.
By the time I realized I was on the bus, I had already seen Chaoyang Tower. Forget it.
In the evening, many citizens gathered in Chaoyang Tower Square. Except those who came to rest in the cool air, others were participating in square dancing and fitness organized by several teams, and they enjoyed it very much.
The night view with lights is not new, but the sunset glow is rare.
At that time, I was so busy eating and looking for a room that I missed the most beautiful sunset (in fact, there was no commanding point, and the sunset was blocked). It is said that you can go up to Chaoyang Building for a fee, but you can only go up to the second floor. I watched other people's photos and it doesn't seem much higher.
The historical sites in Jianshui Ancient City are mainly Zhu Family Garden, Confucius Temple and Xuezheng Examination Hall, etc. I arrived too late and they were all closed. But even in the daytime, I may not go in to see all of them - how many Confucius Temples are there in China?
I had heard of Jianshui tofu a long time ago, so I turned into an alley from the main street and followed the sign of a "Yaoji BBQ" restaurant: a plate of grilled tofu and a bowl of egg fried rice, a total of 12 yuan! It seemed that the grilled tofu was only 7 or 8 yuan per plate.
To be honest, the taste of the tofu is just average, almost like chewing wax, and it has to be dipped in condiments to be tasty.
At night, I stayed at the Guilin Inn in Jianshui Ancient Town for one night. The price-performance ratio was quite good.
In Jianshui, a sense of intimacy arises spontaneously. This intimacy comes from the accumulation of 700 years of historical changes that have endowed this ancient city, and also from the plain and simple life of the people in the ancient city.
Because of work, I came to Jianshui County and lived near the ancient city. It was really ordinary, right?
It's a very relaxing place. Because it's relatively large, it doesn't seem so crowded. You can stay here for two days and wander around. But I suggest you don't go to the attractions.
The whole city is full of food, including yogurt and purple rice, fried tofu, rice noodles, and the old shop of Shaofen on the tip of the tongue and Jianshui Dabanjing.
The ancient city of Jianshui is not big. The city is clean and tidy, with good order and everyone is busy.
Jianshui Ancient City is famous for its brown sugar and tofu. Don’t miss the Jianshui Seventeen-Arch Bridge. Take a walk and have a look around.
Apart from the ancient city tower - Chaoyang Tower, the streets and alleys do not seem to have any special features, and the ancient city flavor is not very strong.
Smaller than Dali Ancient Town, totally uninteresting...
Jianshui’s old town and new town are together, and there are many ancient buildings hidden in the downtown area, and there are a lot of delicious food.
Jianshui Ancient City is a place worth visiting. I highly recommend Jianshui's steamed chicken, it's delicious.
I can only say it's just average. Except for the Chaoyang Tower at the East Gate which is the original site, the other three gates are newly built. There is a mixture of old and new buildings in the ancient city. I didn't go to the Zhu Family Garden and the Confucian Temple, but just wandered around the ancient city.
A very distinctive ancient city with great cultural heritage
It may not be worth making a special trip to see this, but it's worth a look on the way!
Compared with Dali and Lijiang, this place is not so commercialized, and there are still many ancient buildings left around the ancient city. It is a real ancient city.
Jianshui Ancient City was formerly known as Lin'an. It was built in the Tang Dynasty and has a history of more than 1,200 years. There are more than 50 well-preserved exquisite ancient buildings in the city, which can be called an "ancient architecture museum" and "residential museum". The ancient city is not large, mainly a few streets centered on Lin'an Road. The main attractions are: Zhu Family Garden, Confucian Temple, Chaoyang Tower, Shuanglong Bridge, and Tuanshan Village. The first three attractions are not far apart. You can reach them on foot in more than 10 minutes. The last two attractions can be reached by bus No. 2.
I got to know Jianshui when I visited the Kunming Museum last year, and this trip to Yunnan just fulfilled my wish. I liked it unexpectedly. The people I met were very nice, and there was a lot of food. I ate, drank, and walked around, and I even considered staying for another day. The streets of Lin'an in the ancient city are wider than those in other ancient cities and towns I have visited.
The big city tower on the west is newly built. If you want to see the ancient house, go directly to the Zhu Family Garden. The facilities of Lin'an Hotel are good.
As a native of Yunnan, this is my first time to Jianshui. At first, I didn't think it was anything special, but after a tour of the ancient town, I completely fell in love with this ancient town. I have also been to Dali, Wuzhen, Nuodeng and other ancient towns, but I especially like this place. It is not like other ancient towns that are commercialized or ancient and deserted. This is an ancient town full of vitality and vitality. Residents live here. Modern life is integrated into the ancient town. It seems that the prosperity here has continued from ancient times to the present day without interruption. Walking on the bluestone road, it seems that there is a feeling of walking into ancient life. The residents here are very simple, except for some taxi drivers who want to charge more. The price of the inn is also reasonable, of course, with some exceptions. I want to live here in the future, please forgive me for not taking good photos. The food is of course roasted tofu, which is everywhere. People are eating it from morning to night in the whole town. I personally think it is delicious. There are many other snacks, and the barbecue is also good. The barbecue is very fragrant and fresh. I didn't find other dishes special. The vegetables and meat here are very fresh, unlike other big cities where they are frozen. I will make up for it another day.
The ancient city feels very new, and the streets and shops are neatly arranged. Perhaps because there are not many tourists, many shops are closed.
The town is small, picturesque, and delicious...
Jianshui Ancient Town is a very comfortable ancient town. It is not as crowded as Dali and Lijiang. You can stroll around slowly.
Jianshui Ancient City is a national historical and cultural city located in Lin'an Town, Jianshui County, Honghe Prefecture, southern Yunnan.
It was called Lin'an in ancient times. It has history and charm, but not too many commercial atmosphere and tourists. There is a big well with a diameter of three meters that is still in use today, the second largest (some say third largest) Confucian Temple complex in China, one of the four famous kilns in China - Jianshui purple pottery, a meter-gauge train with a history of nearly 100 years, and steamed chicken, unique grass sprouts, and roasted tofu that has been on CCTV...
It feels like being in history and feeling the changes of history.
If you just want to see the scenery, I don't recommend going so far to Jianshui. The scenery in Hongcun in central Anhui is better than there (personal opinion). It is still worth going there for the purpose of traveling. Don't rush, stay there for a few days. The food in Jianshui is very good, both economical and affordable, especially the tofu there is very special and worth a try. The ancient city is not big and can be walked through in an hour or so. The overall feeling requires you to slowly and carefully experience its difference. As for the rest, it's a matter of personal opinion. Anyway, I like it very much, hehe
The ancient city of Jianshui in Honghe County, Yunnan Province, was also known as Butou and Lin'an in ancient times. It has a history of more than 1,200 years and has now become a national historical and cultural city.
Jianshui Ancient City has many ancient buildings that are well preserved, which is precious. Among them, the famous ones include Seventeen-Arch Bridge, Zhu Family Garden, Confucian Temple, Chaoyang Tower, Tuanshan Residence, etc., which have survived for hundreds, thousands, or even thousands of years and can be regarded as precious historical heritage of the Chinese nation.
Jianshui Ancient City is a place full of stories and history. You need to savor it slowly and feel it with your heart. It is definitely worth a visit.
The above is the report.
