Jiuding Longtan, also known as Longquan, is located in the northwest corner of Shuhe Ancient Town. It is the source of the stream in the ancient town and a must-see place in Shuhe.
Dragon Spring consists of two semicircular stone pools, one above and one below. There is a pavilion between the two pools, which is the best place to view the "Nine Cauldron Dragon Pool".
The water in Longtan is not deep, but it is not muddy in summer and not shallow in winter. You can see "Reflection of Snow Mountain", "Broken Monument Knocking Sound" and "Fish and Water Family" among the eight scenic spots in Shuhe.

The waters of the lake are crystal clear, bubbling day and night. The Shuhe people revere it as a sacred spring, leading to the construction of Longquan Temple. The temple's furnishings are similar to those of other temples in the ancient city, but in a corner facing the water's source, there's a "Three Saints Palace" pavilion, a traditional quadrangle courtyard housed in a shrine dedicated to the founder of leatherwork. As a source of pride for the Shuhe people, the area is home to many skilled leather craftsmen, and it's also a major distribution center for furs.
Walk 100 meters north along Shuhe Street and you'll find the source of the stream, the Jiuding Dragon Pond. Its waters are crystal clear, bubbling day and night, and revered by the Shuhe people as a sacred spring. The water is so clear you can even see the fish. The reflections of many willow trees in the water are stunning, as clear as a painting.
At the end of Shuhe Ancient Town, we arrived at Jiuding Dragon Pond, where the green lake scenery was beautiful.
The water in the Dragon Pond is a bluish-green color. When it's illuminated by the sun, it really looks like a piece of jade. It's very beautiful. It's crystal clear, and you can see the bottom. There are some unknown water plants under the water, and there are many small fish. Seeing them swimming so happily, I also want to jump in and swim. Just kidding.
The water in Jiuding Dragon Pond is really sapphire blue, with layers of blue, very beautiful.
The color of Jiuding Longtan is very distinctive
It's worth your while to stop and watch
At this attraction you will feel the park, the gurgling water, the lush trees, and a clear spring.
The water in Jiuding Dragon Pond is so clear that it is impossible to capture the effect with a mobile phone. Perhaps, this is the case with everything in the world. The prosperity we see can only be preserved permanently in our memories and cannot be recorded completely and accurately in any form.
Jiuding Longtan, one of the eight scenic spots in Shuhe! It is also called "Dragon Spring" because in local history and culture, it was once the habitat of a golden dragon. When the sun shines on the water, you can see the scales of the golden dragon shining under the water.
Of course, legends are just legends. The real origin of Longquan is because of the nearby [Longquan Ancient Temple], a temple that has been passed down for thousands of years. It is still very popular today and the buildings are well preserved, which shows its status in the hearts of local residents.
The water of Jiuding Dragon Pond comes from a mountain spring, making it exceptionally clear and boasting a beauty comparable to that of Jiuzhaigou. Although it had just rained when I visited, the leaves on the surface of the water didn't detract from the visual effect; instead, they added to the charm. It's truly a beautiful sight that's truly enjoyable no matter how you look at it.
Walk into the mountains along Shuhe Ancient Town, and then walk forward for about three minutes after exiting the ancient town to reach here. Along the way, you can also see many vegetable fields and villagers working in the fields.
This place is quite interesting, with beautiful natural scenery.
We walked along the river and arrived at Jiuding Dragon Pond. The water in the pond was clear and the fish were swimming slowly. Maybe the spring water was too cold.
High above Shuhe Ancient Town lies a flowing spring, the Jiuding Dragon Pond, which is the source of the town's vibrant stream.
Green willows hang down to the ground and emerald cypresses point to the sky around the pond. The spring water is clear and there are many fish swimming in the pond. They are revered as sacred fish by the locals.
The stream is a natural ice chamber.
Colorful, crystal clear vegetable drinks made with stream water~
When the water is clear, there are fish, and there are a lot of fish.
Jiuding Longtan is the source of the stream beside the road. The water in the pond is emerald green and clear, and you can see the bottom. The people of Shuhe regard it as a sacred pond. There are fish playing among the water plants in the pond. Tourists enjoy watching the fish, and the fish enjoy playing in the water as well. It can be said that everyone enjoys themselves.
Jiuding Dragon Pond is a landmark of Shuhe. The water is just as clear as it was when I first visited six years ago, a true wonder. The pond is home to plump rainbow trout, Lijiang's signature freshwater salmon. Of course, the "No Fishing" sign in large red letters on a white background beside the pond only serves to dampen the appetite of foodies. Without these boisterous fish stirring up the water's surface, Jiuding Dragon Pond would be so clear that it's hard to imagine there's even water there.
The stone tablet beside Longtan makes a crisp sound when hit with a stone! This is the "Broken Tablet Sound" in the Eight Scenic Spots of Shuhe. It's a bit ridiculous, because hitting the stone doesn't make any sound!
The water in the pond is crystal clear and the fish are playing in the water!
Jiuding Longtan is located in Shuhe Ancient Town. I don't feel anything special about Jiuding Longtan. I think it's just an ordinary small pond.
The river water is crystal clear and the air by the river is particularly fresh. I feel like my shortness of breath symptoms have gone away. It feels great to walk along the path by the river.
Whether it's night or morning, this is such a quiet and peaceful place! This quiet Jiuding Dragon Pond, with its clear water, swaying water plants, and sparse crowds of tourists, makes me wonder if it's a fake scenic spot.
Next to Longquan Temple is the "Nine Cauldrons Dragon Pond." "Nine Cauldrons" comes from the nine hills in the north of the town, and "Dragon Pond" probably comes from the "Longquan Temple." The water is very clear, and although the pond is small, it is quiet and peaceful.
Another place that appears due to legend, the water in the pool will produce ripples when jumping, which is actually caused by vibration. In the mouth of the tour guide, it is the magic in the legend. In reality, I can only laugh secretly.
The water is very clear! It leads directly to the Three Saints Temple. It's beautiful, but not spectacular. After all, water was too precious to the Naxi people in the past, so perhaps these seemingly small pools today actually hold a lot of information! It's best to find a local to explain it, you will definitely gain something, it's worth a visit~
Jiuding Dragon Pond is very small, with clear water, dancing aquatic plants, and free-swimming fish. When the weather is good, the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is reflected in it.
I highly recommend this to everyone. The water at Jiuding Dragon Pond is pure and sweet. I saw local women carrying buckets to fetch water. They said the water level had dropped significantly due to the drought of the past few years, and they'd reduced their visits. The water here is incredibly delicious, completely free of additives, and the locals love to take it home. They even enthusiastically scooped some water for me to try. I couldn't refuse their kindness, so I did. It was truly delicious. If it weren't for the unpleasant sight of tree leaves and flower stalks floating in the water, I probably would have taken a few more sips. O(∩_∩)O~~
The Nine Dragon Tripod is a pillar located at the intersection of Lijingmen Scenic Area.
A touch of bright red swam through the green water plants. Seeing this scene, I pressed the shutter without hesitation to record this pure land.
This was taken one morning long, long ago.
The water is very clear and there are fish in it. Because it is the drinking water for local residents, please do not litter.
In spring, the green leaves are lush and beautiful for taking photos. It is a small scene in Shuhe Ancient Town.
It’s really small... The water is very clear, but it’s small.
It felt average, probably because I didn't see any red spider lilies! Before I went there, I heard someone had photographed red spider lilies here! (That's the Lycoris radiata)
We looked at the guide map at the entrance of Shuhe several times but still couldn't figure out where it was. Later, we just followed Baidu Maps and found that it was just above the Qinglong Bridge we had visited and we could walk along the stream upstream.
The crystal-clear Jiuding Dragon Pond originates from Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. It's said that all the water in the ancient town originates from this source. At the bottom of the pond, swaying green aquatic plants and schools of fish create a truly beautiful scene! Under the strong sunlight, the Dragon Pond takes on a different hue, a truly captivating sight.
There are two streams running through Shuhe Ancient Town, adding a bit of charm to the town.
The water is very clear, and as you walk into Shuhe Ancient Town, the surrounding environment is very quiet.
The scenery is average, and the area isn't particularly large. There's a man-made river with clear, stream-like water and fish. There's nothing local about it, and there aren't many services. The small, free park is fine for a stroll.
Walk 100 meters north along Shuhe Street to Jiuding Dragon Pond. The water is very clear, with the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain reflected in it and fish swimming freely.
The water is very clean, and there are koi and salmon in it. But the bottom of the water is not as clean as the small streams in Shuhe Ancient Town.
Coming here reminds me of the lyrics of Yao Beina’s “Love in Langzhong”: The feng shui is so affectionate and romantic, the mountains and rivers are so beautiful and gorgeous!
Accompanied by drizzle, walking around Jiulongtan...Occasionally the sun shines on the water, it is very beautiful
When the sun was very strong, I walked to this place. I have to say, it was so comfortable and cool. The water was very clear and you could see the water plants and small fish in it. Who said that there are no fish in clear water? Haha
The water is very clear and you can see many fish swimming in the water.
Shuhe's famous scenic spot, Jiuding Dragon Pond, also known as "Dragon Spring" by locals, is well worth a visit.
2016-04: The Longquan Temple (Sansheng Palace) in Shuhe Ancient Town is right next to the Jiuding Dragon Pond, which is formed by a stream of water. The water is clear and fish are swimming freely. However, we didn’t see the reflection of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in it, probably because of the bad weather.
The water is very clear and there are many small fish. There is a corridor next to it, which is hung with wind chimes for blessings. San Sheng Palace was a gathering place for ancient literati and scholars. Outside, there is a quantum original singer playing and singing by himself.
It was raining when I passed by. There was a pavilion next to the Dragon Pond, where I could take a rest and admire the Dragon Pond and green trees in the rain. It was quite poetic.
The Nine-Tripod Dragon Pond, also known as the Dragon Spring, is located at the core of all Lijiang scenic spots and is the hub for visiting the Lijiang Old Town, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, Lugu Lake, the First Bend of the Yangtze River, and the Three Parallel Rivers Scenic Area.
Jiuding Longtan is a stream flowing down from a high place in Shuhe Ancient Town. It is crystal clear and the water plants in the water are like thousands of silk threads, flowing endlessly...
I met Mr. and Mrs. Liu here by chance. It is a place worth remembering.
I went there during the Chinese New Year holiday in 2015. The weather was beautiful. I was afraid I'd forget the details of the attraction, so I took some photos to keep as a memory. The reflections in the lake were beautiful.
The water is crystal clear, you can see the fish and rocks clearly, and the scenery is very beautiful.
Wind chimes and wishing boards flutter in the wind in the corridor, gurgling water quietly caresses the lush aquatic plants, and the clear and boundless water is set against the blue sky. This is the Jiuding Dragon Pond.
Walking about a hundred meters northwest along Lijiang Shuhe Street, which runs north-south, you'll find Shuhe's famous scenic spot, the Nine-Tripod Dragon Pond, also known locally as "Dragon Spring." Nestled between Longquan Mountain to the west and Qinglong River to the east, the pond consists of two semicircular rock pools, one above and one below. A pavilion stands between the two pools, offering the best vantage point for viewing the "Nine-Tripod Dragon Pond." The waters of the ponds originate from crevices in the rocks at the foot of Longquan Mountain. While shallow, the waters remain turbid in summer and not shallow in winter. Clear waters typically flow from the rocky crevices, perpetually nourishing the ancient town. Surrounding the pond are lush green willows that reach the ground and lush cypresses that point to the sky. The spring's waters are crystal clear, teeming with fish, revered by locals as sacred fish. Legend has it that in the past, someone attempting to catch the fish was struck by lightning, and to this day, no one has dared.
It was very quiet and the water was clear. I walked here after dinner and wanted to climb to the top (Baoding Mountain?), but I couldn’t find the intersection and it was getting late, so I had to go home.
Jiuding Dragon Pond is one of the must-see attractions in Shuhe. The water is very clear and the environment is very good. It is next to the Sansheng Palace.
Come here in the morning to take a look, you can feel the flavor of the ancient town
Jiuding Longtan, about a hundred meters northwest of Shuhe Ancient Town, is known locally as Longquan. No entrance fee is required. The water is crystal clear, allowing you to clearly see the fish. The water is also incredibly cool, clear, and filled with lush aquatic plants. It's a small attraction, but I have to say I really love Shuhe. It's quiet and uncrowded, and the sky is so high and blue, a world away from the smog-shrouded north!
Maybe I went at the wrong time. The trees were all dead in winter and the reflection in the lake was not beautiful enough, but the water was really clear.
It's very ordinary, just a small pond. The story must be made up.
The water of Jiuding Dragon Pond deep in Shuhe River is crystal clear, with salmon swimming leisurely at the bottom. The "Vine of Love" vine climbs up the wall of the Monday Inn, making people forget to go home for a while.
Jiuding Dragon Pond is the source of all water for Shuhe Ancient Town. Its water is crystal clear, revealing the fish and algae. In winter, when the leaves have fallen, the reflections of the branches in the water are breathtaking, like a painting. We arrived in the evening and were captivated by the scenery, reluctant to leave. This is the most beautiful place I've ever seen in Shuhe. It's well worth a visit, especially for its tranquility. The fish here are also said to be extremely rare.
The water is cool and clear. If you are there, you can go and have a look.
Jiuding Dragon Pond is really beautiful, like a small Jiuzhaigou, the water is green and blue, very clear. It is at the highest point of Shuhe Ancient Town, and the scenery is beautiful all the way up.
Jiuding Dragon Pond and Qinglong Bridge.
Qinglong Bridge is a very small bridge, only about 30 meters long.
But because there were few people and it was raining, the cobblestone road looked particularly beautiful, and many people took wedding photos here.
Under the bridge is the Qinglong River, which runs through the entire Shuhe Ancient Town. The aquatic plants growing in the river are green and slender, like the whiskers on a dragon's body. The entire river is like a dragon coiling around Shuhe Ancient Town.
Calling it Qinglong River is indeed very descriptive.
It's much smaller than I thought, but the water quality is really good and there are many flowing streams around.
The spring water near Jiuding Longtan is crystal clear, with fish swimming around. The water overflowing from the pond meanders along the village road, gurgling from far and near, nourishing the streets and alleys. It is clear, sweet and refreshing, flowing continuously. It is a unique feature of Shuhe Ancient Town and lives up to its reputation as the hometown of clear springs!
The water in the pond comes from the cracks in the rocks at the foot of Longquan Mountain. The water is not deep and the bottom is clear.
This should be the quietest place in Shuhe Ancient Town. If the driver hadn't told us, I don't think I would have walked so far. It's basically the end of the ancient town.
In Shuhe Ancient Town, it is very cool, the water is green and clear.
Jiuding Longtan is the farthest attraction in Shuhe Ancient Town. To be honest, there is nothing to see. It is just a pond and a stone tablet. Not recommended.
The small pond in the northwest of Shuhe Ancient Town has a very domineering name, but it is actually very delicate and the water is very clear. It is said to be the source of the entire ancient town. There are many fish in it and the environment is quiet. This is the place I am most satisfied with in Shuhe Ancient Town. But I didn’t find the Nine Tripods.
There's a saying, "Clear water means no fish." Visiting Jiuding Dragon Pond completely disproves this saying. The crystal-clear waters are teeming with fish, large and small, swimming in and out. The locals' appreciation of water resources is truly admirable.
It was raining, so I came across this place while wandering around Shuhe. I didn't know what scenic spot it was, but I thought it was beautiful. The water looked very clear, though not as vibrant as the photos online. Maybe it was the weather.
2012.07
It's very quiet. I like the feeling here. It's very quiet. There is a small temple on the way up. I can't bear to disturb it.
The scenery of Jiuding Longtan is very beautiful, the water is relatively clear, and you can even see fish in some pools. I recommend everyone to go and see it.
Yes, there were very few people when I went there, and the water was really clear.
If you walk about a hundred meters northwest along Shuhe Street, which runs through the north and south, you will see one of Shuhe’s famous attractions: Jiuding Dragon Pond, also known as "Dragon Spring" by the locals.

At Jiuding Longtan, you can see the "Reflection of Snow Mountain", "Knocking Sound of Broken Monument" and "Family Relationship" among the eight scenic spots in Shuhe.
