Located next to Dianchi Lake, you can see Dianchi Lake under Xishan Mountain, the scenery is very beautiful.

Exit Haigeng Park, pass the lower station of Dianchi Cableway, turn north to the scenic road on Haigeng Dam, which runs from north to south. In the morning, it is just right for the light to go from east to west. In my opinion, the lakeside road connecting Haigeng Park and Xishan is the real Dianchi Dam.
There are many seagulls here, but fewer tourists.
Seagulls of different heights and postures.
It’s good to take pictures of the scenery when the light is direct, but it’s not good to take pictures of people. The child can’t open his eyes because of the sunlight.
There are relatively few tourists.
We only walked about 500 meters north along the scenic road and then turned back.
After visiting Haigeng Park, we continued to drive to the hotel, which is next to Haigeng Dam, another famous scenic spot in Dianchi Lake. The dam is very spacious and you can watch the sunset here. Li Zi doesn't have to worry about cars when playing here. It is very safe. This is also a good place to watch red-billed gulls. Thousands of red-billed gulls visit here every year.
When you come to the Haigeng Dam of Dianchi Lake, your eyes will light up. Because it's not that Dianchi Lake is too big, but that there are too many red-billed gulls! As far as you can see, there are large groups of them. Some of them rise and fall on the lake surface, drifting with the waves; some of them hover in the air, flying with wings... Especially when you have their favorite food in your hand, these elves are not afraid at all, and they rush to dance around you. They may even stand on your hands, shoulders and head, fully demonstrating the harmony between man and nature. At this time, you will definitely feel extremely happy when playing with these flying elves.
In fact, I have always wanted to go to Dianchi Lake because I wanted to see the elf of Dianchi Lake - the red-billed gull.
Before I went there, I had been following the Internet to see if the red-billed gulls would fly over this year, but there was no news. Fortunately, I had the chance to see them when they really arrived. According to the locals, these little guys had only been here for less than a week. It was pleasant and relaxing to stroll along the Haigeng Dam.
There were many tourists who fed the red-billed gulls with bread, and they were all very well behaved. These little guys were not afraid of people and I quickly took a few pictures with my camera.
The locals say that there are not many red-billed gulls flying here now, but I think it is already very beautiful.
The hotel is right next to the Haigeng Dam. You can see Dianchi Lake just across the road. At 10 a.m., thousands of red-billed gulls have gathered here. You can see red-billed gulls from November to February every year.
Usually there are fewer tourists in the morning, and it is crowded in the afternoon - unfortunately we were there during the Spring Festival, and when we arrived at 10 o'clock, the red-billed gulls had already eaten their fill.
Once, our record was that two people fed 80 yuan worth of bird food in one morning and still didn't want to leave.
As a result, we didn’t finish feeding the birds that day. There were more people than birds at the scene... We were even hit by bird droppings...
What we mean is, those baby red-billed gulls are too full, right?
The azure sky, the azure lake and the white seagulls transform into a pure blue and white world.
When seagulls interact with you, a harmonious intimacy is created;
When flocks of seagulls fly past you, a sense of joy arises spontaneously.
It was October when we came, so we didn't see many seagulls. However, this place is a good place to watch seagulls because the wind and waves are not strong. You don't have to be careful about the waves hitting the coast like in Haigeng Park, and there are no trees to block the view, so you can get closer to the seagulls and take pictures. It is also very convenient to stay and take a bus here. You have to walk a little further to eat, over Yinghai Road. But overall, in addition to the seagulls, the scenery here is also good.
Haigeng Dam is a good choice for watching seagulls in Kunming. The place is spacious and there is no ticket. It is the transition between spring and summer, and the dam is full of pink azaleas, which is very beautiful. The air on the dam side is also much better than in the city. Every winter, thousands of red-billed gulls fly here from faraway Siberia, attracting millions of tourists to visit this spectacular sight. Haigeng Dam is right next to Dianchi Lake, and you can see Dianchi Lake under the West Mountain, and the scenery is very good. It is a good choice to come here to watch seagulls. When watching seagulls, the scenery is spectacular and there are many seagulls. You can spend two yuan to buy a bag of bird food. If you stretch out your hand, the seagulls will come down to eat, which is very interesting. The dam is very wide and long, and parking is also very convenient. There are many newcomers who come here to shoot outdoor scenes. The wind on the dam is very strong. It is very comfortable to blow the Dianchi wind in summer. Remember to wear more in winter, it is relatively cold.
The Dianchi Lake and the Western Hills before our eyes still complement each other, but now they are vast and misty, with shimmering waters.
The most delightful thing is the red-billed gulls flying up and down in large numbers.
If there are seagulls, it's 4 stars, if there are no seagulls, it's 3 stars, it feels like a city leisure riverside hotel.
It is definitely worth going together. There are people selling seagull food on site, with a uniform price of 3.5 per bag.
In December, you can see the red-billed gulls, and the scenery is average.
I came here just to see the seagulls.
Due to the schedule, I only went there to watch the sunset, which was pretty good. But the water in Dianchi Lake is really not as clear as Fuxian Lake.
It is connected to the Dianchi Dam, which is a good feeling. It is very comfortable to go there in the morning.
There are more seagulls in March and early April. It is recommended to go in the morning because the seagulls will not fly in the afternoon after they are full.
Haigeng Dam is a great place to view Dianchi Lake, and it is an excellent place to watch seagulls in winter.
It's still the red-billed gull. The water quality of Dianchi Lake is much better than before.
In winter, the Seaside Dam is a world of black-billed gulls. Thousands of birds are circling in the sky, looking for food. Grab a piece of biscuit and crush it, just stretch out your hand, and birds will fly over to eat it.
The Haigeng Dam is actually on the same line as the Haigeng Park. The end of the dam is the entrance to the Haigeng Park, but there are many more seagulls on the dam than in the park!
A good place to watch red-billed gulls, the view is also very wide!
The first feeling after reaching the Haigeng Dam was that it was too sunny. I regretted not buying a hat. Then I walked a short distance and met a group of red-billed gulls. It was the first time I saw this kind of seabird up close, and I was quite excited. The scenery was very good, coupled with the lake reflecting the light and the towering Xishan Mountain behind the lake.
Every winter, with the addition of seagulls, it is quite worth it, free scenery! The starting point of Kunming SCO Marathon!
Every winter, Siberia's red-billed gulls fly to Kunming's Dianchi Lake. It is particularly pleasant to enjoy the breeze and feed the seagulls on the Haigeng Dam.
One of the most popular attractions in Kunming, a very beautiful place, a good place to take photos. You can also feed the red-billed gulls in winter!
Haigeng Dam is right next to Dianchi Lake. Every winter, thousands of red-billed gulls fly here from Siberia. So if you travel to Kunming in winter, it is a good choice to come to Haigeng Dam to see the seagulls. There are mountains and water here, the air is fresh, the scenery is nice, and there is no entrance fee. If you want to feed the birds, you can spend a few dollars to buy a bag of bird food. My daughter enjoys the process of feeding the birds. However, the wind on the dam is very strong, so you need to wear more clothes if you come in winter.
The scenery of Haigeng Dam is not as beautiful as that of Haigeng Park, and the sea area is not wide enough.
It's a long riverside road, clean and suitable for walking.
The scenery of Haigeng Dam is very beautiful, especially the flocks of seagulls. I completely let myself go and felt the beauty of life. . . . .
It is a wonderful experience to go to Haigeng Dam to photograph the red-headed gulls in winter.
The Haigeng Dam in winter makes you feel relaxed and comfortable. You can listen to the singing of the red-billed gulls and get close to them. They are the best gifts and friends for Kunming people.
I know Haigeng purely because of the Chinese national football team. From a distance, I don’t feel anything.
Every January, there are large groups of seagulls, swans, wild ducks, etc. in many lakes in Yunnan. These are migratory birds that fly from Siberia to spend the winter. When I first saw this scene when I arrived, I couldn't help but marvel at it. It's so spectacular! The seagulls spread their wings and fly along the shoreline of Dianchi Lake. It's so dense! People with trypophobia should be careful!
Many people held up their bread, hoping that the seagulls would come and take a bite, so that they could capture this rare moment, the seagulls spread their wings and soared in the blue sky, how free they were! The environment of Haigeng Dam is quite good.
The sea and the sky are one color! Every winter, the little elves flying from Siberia, the red-billed gulls, arrive as expected. The blue sky... The seagulls flying all over the sky... The harmony and warmth of people and seagulls on the levee, children, the elderly, tourists...
I felt the weather in Kunming. The normal travel was interrupted by heavy rain twice. I was depressed and left the umbrella in the hotel.
It is a must-go during the season when red-billed gulls appear. The elves in Kunming are so free.
Every year, thousands of red-billed gulls travel thousands of miles to Kunming to spend the winter. The Haigeng Dam has a very wide view and is worth a visit.
An old man was singing seriously with a very hoarse voice, referring to the music sheet. When he saw me coming, he gave me hints with his fingers while singing! It’s really fun for the elderly!
The vast waters of Dianchi Lake are an ideal wintering habitat for red-headed gulls. However, the natural bait in Dianchi Lake is insufficient to meet the feeding needs of tens of thousands of red-headed gulls every day, so a large amount of artificial feeding is required.
There are two kinds of bait, one is customized granular bait, and the other is bread. Red-billed gulls actually prefer bread. If you want to take a close-up with "her", you can only use bread.
It's very beautiful, located in the Dianchi National Resort; Yunnan Nationalities Village and Sea Stem Park are all here. In winter, red-billed gulls come here to spend the winter. Locals or outsiders who come here for vacation run here in the evening 🏃, and some people walk their dogs here. You can also meet people who sing here 🎤 and those who love taking photos of the sunset. It's very suitable to take a walk here in the evening.
Every year, thousands of red-billed gulls come to Kunming from afar to spend the winter. The places to watch the gulls include Cuihu Park, Haigeng Park, Haigeng Dam, etc. We chose Haigeng Dam with a wide view, which is free. There are vendors selling gull food and bread next to the dam. The price is a bit higher during the Chinese New Year. Bread is 10 yuan per bag, and gull food seems to be 10 yuan for three bags. There are many seagulls on the dam, flying around. If you hold out your hand with bread, the seagulls will stop to eat. It's fun.
The aunt at the B&B said that the seagull watching time is from about 8 am to 5 or 6 pm. There are no seagulls later. I took my dog to Haigeng Dam at 8:30 am, and there were already many seagulls. The day before, I drove past so far and could see a large group of seagulls circling around the pool and hear the seagulls calling. I also saw a helicopter that day.
The seagulls at Haigeng Dam are not afraid of tourists at all, and they are not short of food. I bought 10 yuan of bread to feed the seagulls. It is not recommended to buy bird food at the stalls inside the dam, the price is twice that outside, and there are only those meal buns. The seagulls basically didn't eat the bread we fed them in the later period, because they were full, so it is better to come early.
I noticed the people who made money by taking photos for others in the scenic area. They asked us to hold the long and thin bread and take photos for us, and imitated the bird calls: Oh oh oh. It really worked, and they were also very good at taking photos. 20 yuan/person, basically one or two Polaroids. We wanted to get an electronic version, so we gave her an SD card and used her SLR to take photos. After they took the photos, they immediately went to a small printing shop nearby to print them. I guess they were hired by the printing shop owner. They didn't want to use our camera to take photos for us, fearing that the owner would see it. Make some extra money.
After taking the photos, be sure to clean your clothes, because if you are unlucky, they may be stained with bird shit!
At the end of March, the red-billed seagulls had not yet flown away, and many people were feeding the seagulls. Especially in the morning. In fact, there are the most seagulls in the morning, so it is recommended that the first stop in the morning is to feed the seagulls on the dam. The light is good and there are many seagulls. In the afternoon, it is too sunny and the seagulls all roost in the water. The seagull food bought by the dam costs 10 yuan per bag. In fact, you can buy some steamed buns to feed the seagulls yourself, which is economical. As long as you hold the food in your hand and swing your arms up and down, the seagulls will take it away.
The Dianchi Haigeng Dam is located in the northeast of Dianchi Lake. The northwest of Dianchi Lake is the Xishan Scenic Area. It is one of the three major seagull feeding resorts in Kunming, the other two being Haigeng Park and Cuihu Park.
I came here to see the red-billed gulls. Although it is already late March, there are still many seagulls. I took pictures of these flying elves.
Listening to Right here waiting while watching seagulls circling, the sun is just right❤️
The main places to get close to red-billed gulls in Kunming are Haigeng Dam, Daguan Park, Cuihu Park, etc. Haigeng Dam is the most famous and has the most people. In line with the normal state of not rushing or slowing, I slept until I woke up naturally, had a leisurely breakfast, and then drove from the hotel to Haigeng Dam. When I was about to approach the dam, it was already 10:30 in the morning, and the traffic was so congested that I couldn't move forward. I decisively turned left into the small road, circled a few times, and saw a gate called Yuan Xiaocen Art Park. I tried to drive the car to the door, and it really lifted the barrier to let me in. After parking the car, I walked a few hundred meters to Haigeng Dam. There are many red-billed gulls on the dam, and there are even more people. In addition, it was close to noon, the sun was a little hot, and the red-billed gulls didn't seem to be excited. They were not interested in the bird food and bread in their hands. The background was a messy crowd. I didn't feel the nature surrounded by birds, and I didn't take ideal photos. At 12:30, we ended our stay at Haigeng Dam and headed to Kunming Botanical Garden at the request of our children. Tips: Drivers who drive to Haigeng Dam can navigate to Hongta Group Sports Center (right next to the dam), where there are many parking spaces and it is open to the public.
In winter, Haigeng Dam is the territory of seagulls. Friends who live nearby or go to Yunnan Nationalities Village can go on a date with the seagulls.
Kunming Haigeng Dam, Haigeng Park and other places are good places to watch red-billed gulls. Although there are many people, the place is large enough to dilute the flow of people. In addition, the red-billed gulls are flying in the sky, so you can easily see them.
The bread sales industry at Haigeng Dam is very developed, resulting in an astonishing amount of droppings from the red-headed gulls. When I was taking pictures, I could vaguely feel "raindrops" falling on my face.
Be careful when feeding and taking pictures. Don't lean on the railing without any scruples. You should first check whether there is poop on the railing, otherwise you will be covered in the smell of bread poop.
The Haigeng Dam, which I had no expectations of at first, gave me a pleasant surprise. There were so many seagulls, the pool was endless, the wind was strong, and the waves hit the shore directly~
Red-billed gulls, friends from Siberia, you can meet them (recommended to go in the morning, they are very active in foraging) they are very enthusiastic 😃
I went to Haigeng Dam instead of Haigeng Park mainly because it was free. I took the bus next to it. It lived up to my expectations. Seagulls flew over in waves. I didn't dare to feed them at first, but I was really excited when the bread in my hand was taken away! There were a lot of people next to the dam. A couple next to them were very annoying. They said they wanted to take pictures and asked everyone next to them to move aside so as not to block the camera. They also insisted on taking pictures from a distance. There was a large empty space around them. Later, they asked me to give up my seat. I was not convinced and said that your place was so big and it was not enough. Later, they went to other places. It was just a small episode and did not affect my mood. It is best to buy bread and bring it over, so that you can eat it yourself or feed the seagulls. There are also some small cold noodle stalls next to the dam, but I didn't eat them.
I came here to feed the red-billed gulls in the winter of 2017, and I came again this year. The last photo was taken in January 2017.
It is still worth a visit. We went there in the afternoon and evening. After feeding the birds, we could take some silhouettes. The sunset there is beautiful! For details, you can see my travel notes http://www.mafengwo.cn/i/8381290.html
A place where locals often go to take photos and take walks.
Haigeng Dam beside Dianchi Lake is a good place to get close to Dianchi Lake. There are many red-billed gulls in the winter in autumn.
Unfortunately, we went there on September 24, 2017, just in time for the construction, which is scheduled to end at the end of October. I hope I will have a chance to visit here next time. I had no choice but to wander around the Dianchi Park, and the scenery was still good.
We stayed in Minglou, a village next to Dianchi Lake in Kunming. There is an ancient villa called "Leilou" inside. The courtyard faces Dianchi Lake. It is very beautiful and magnificent.
Kunming in January. Thousands of seagulls are the most beautiful scenery of Haigeng Dam. Red-billed gull.
Winter is a great time to watch and feed seagulls
Haigeng Dam-Haigeng Park:
It is adjacent to Xishan Mountain.
As the water source of Kunming, after years of management,
It's getting better and better~
Standing beside the dam, feeling the kiss of wind and water,
The mood will always brighten up.
Local people often set up tents here to look at the stars.
You can have a barbecue in the park.
Xishan can be climbed again~
It is a land of gospel.
And the transportation is convenient. There are several buses in the city.
Not bad~
I went to Kunming in December. Need I say more about the seagulls at the Haigeng Dam? I took a taxi when I went there, but it was difficult to get a taxi on the way back, so I took the bus for a few stops before taking a taxi.
Haigeng Park, as its name implies, is a wedge-shaped embankment that runs from east to west across the Dianchi Lake. It starts from Haigeng Village in the east and ends at the foot of the West Mountain in the west. It is 5 kilometers long and 60 to 300 meters wide. It divides the more than 300 square kilometers of Dianchi Lake into two parts: the vast Dianchi Lake is to the south, and the "Grass Sea" is to the north.
If the season is right, it is still highly recommended to come and have fun. There are a lot of red-billed gulls and the scene is spectacular. The joy that close contact between people and animals brings you is indescribable. They are not afraid of people at all and will eat food from your hands. Anyway, looking at them makes you feel inexplicably good.
You can bring your own bread to feed the red-billed gulls. The bread sold in the square is very expensive.
You can see seagulls in the right season, but there is not much food around and it is not easy to find.
This is definitely the first choice for feeding seagulls. There are much more seagulls here than in Cuihu Park, and they are closer to people. If you hold bread in your hands, the seagulls will come over and peck at it.
Haigeng Dam is right next to Dianchi Lake, and you can see Dianchi Lake under Xishan Mountain. The scenery is very good. It is a good choice to come here to watch seagulls. When watching seagulls, the scenery is spectacular, with many seagulls.
The red-billed gulls come from northern Siberia. They cross Russia from Lake Baikal to Kunming to spend the winter, and then return in groups.
In winter, red-billed gulls migrate to Dianchi Lake to spend the winter. It is a very pleasant experience to go to the Haigeng Dam to feed the seagulls.
Whether it is the season for seagulls or not, it is a must-visit place in the city.
Haigeng Dam is a bit far from the city. If you are not in a hurry, you can choose public transportation. It is best to take a two-decker bus. We took bus No. 171 and got off at the terminal. Red-billed gulls come here every winter to spend the winter. The sky is full of seagulls flying around. The scene is very spectacular, but friends with mysophobia still do not recommend coming here. First of all, the smell is very strong, a smell of poultry; another is that you must be prepared to win at any time. Bird droppings and bird saliva will definitely fly all over the sky. Don't just look at how beautiful the photos taken by others are, you must think about the blood and tears behind them. (No more words...T^T)
A must-see attraction in Kunming during winter. Many red-billed gulls from Siberia come here to avoid the cold, which has become a special sight in Kunming. I have never seen seagulls flying so low, and they will eat the bread and bird food fed by people. You can feel the friendliness of nature here.
Haigeng Dam is not far from Haigeng Park. In winter, countless seagulls will fly here. There are many seagulls in Cuihu Park but the lake is not big. In the afternoon, the wind and waves are very strong in Haigeng Park and seagulls fly everywhere. I personally think that Haigeng Dam is the best place to take pictures and eat seagulls, especially if you come to the dam early in the morning, because the dam is full of tourists at noon and in the afternoon. There are fewer tourists in the morning. The water here is very calm and the seagulls are not afraid of people. You can attract seagulls to eat by holding food in your hands.
Haigeng Dam is right next to Haigeng Park. It's free to walk a few steps and turn a corner. It doesn't look as long as imagined, but it's still very clear. Tourists gather in the area where red-billed gulls are densely populated. From a distance, a group of people hold up gull food, look up at the sky, and rub their arms upwards with expectation as if waiting for the red-billed gulls to come.
There were many locals on the dam who were paying to take photos (feeding red-billed gulls for close-up) and yelled back and forth. They would also tell us that the red-billed gulls would not come if we fed them like that. During the nearly one hour we stayed there, at least 5-6 locals came to ask about it. Later, I found out that their secret to taking photos was to either replace the special gull food (tastier than bread) or use a unique call (which can't be learned in a short time) to attract the red-billed gulls to feed, and then take the opportunity to capture the photo, with a high success rate. However, we didn't feel unwelcome when we fed them bread, so we didn't envy them, hahaha.
Friendly reminder, the wind here is really strong... It blows 360 degrees, making your hair tangled and leaving you with no face at all. It's also very sunny, so start with SPF50.
The price of gull food should be the same throughout the city, and it is the same as a few years ago. I suddenly feel it is very conscientious. Hahaha, 10 yuan a bag is enough.
