Just in early 2019, "National Treasure 2" broadcast the Yunnan Provincial Museum. The program's introduction was: Yunnan Museum, a cultural center that stands in the south of the colorful clouds and radiates to South Asia and Southeast Asia. This is mainly to avoid duplication with the commentary of other museums, but I think it only summarizes the geographical location of Yunnan, and it is not too appropriate for the connotation of the collections in the museum. The main feeling of watching it on the spot is that this southwestern borderland has a unique charm of blending culture with the Central Plains. For example, its "late-maturing but early-dying" Bronze Age, because of the relative isolation of the region, the spontaneously generated bronze civilization was later than that of the Central Plains, but because of the later exchanges with the Central Plains, it quickly entered the Iron Age in sync with the Central Plains. The most distinctive feature of the Yunnan Bronze Age is the bronze shell storage vessel, one of the three treasures displayed in "National Treasure 2". You can see more forms in the museum, and there are many unique decorations on bronze weapons. During the Nanzhao-Dali period, the highlight of its history, a "Buddhist kingdom of wonderful fragrance" was presented, which was different from the typical Han and Tibetan Buddhism. The Garuda became the symbol of the Yunnan Provincial Museum. It was also because I saw the Yunnan-style grottoes at Shibao Mountain in Jianchuan that I decided to visit those grottoes in Dali in the next few days. However, in recent times, I feel that the display of ethnic minority diversity does not seem to be so prominent, at least it is different from the impression in the Xinjiang Museum, which is somewhat inconsistent with Yunnan's status as the province with the largest number of ethnic minorities in my country.
Another complaint is that there is no hot water room or direct drinking water supply in the museum, which is a bit unsatisfactory for a newly built building.
Yunnan Provincial Museum's official website: ***
Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday 9:00-17:00
There is no need to collect a ticket. You can enter the museum by swiping your ID card at the main entrance on the first floor and undergoing security check.
The closing time for admission is 16:30, instead of 16:00 as in most provincial museums.
Since it was the off-season and not a weekend, and the Yunnan Provincial Museum was not particularly famous, there were not many tourists in the morning, which was exactly what I wanted.
The appearance of the museum is quite satisfactory:
Nowadays, many museums have strange appearances. The permanent exhibition of Yunnan Provincial Museum is divided into several parts according to the era, which is easier to remember.
The content of the Ancient Yunnan exhibition hall is very rich, bringing together ancient creatures and early humans.
The exhibition is divided into four parts: The Explosion of Life, The World of Dinosaurs, From Ape to Man, and The Neolithic Age. It showcases Yunnan's world-renowned ancient biology and geology, the origin of mankind, and the reasons for the formation of its diverse ethnic structure.
In addition, there are several huge dinosaur models in the hall, and the Tyrannosaurus Rex and others sometimes roar, which may scare some infants and young children.
Ancient vertebrates such as ancient elephants and horses:
The Yunnan in the Bronze Age exhibition is divided into four parts: the beginning of the Yunnan Bronze Age, an overview of the Yunnan Bronze Age, the leader of the Southwestern Yi - the Dian Kingdom, and the Yizhou County in the Han Dynasty. The third part is the focus.
This Dian Kingdom was most likely established by an army led by the Chu general Zhuang Qiao in the late Warring States Period, but there is no conclusion yet.
As a native of Yunnan, how can you not visit the Yunnan Provincial Museum! The National Treasures Season 2 has made Yunnan’s national treasures famous.
Nie Er's violin (Figure 2)
Tianshi furnace (Figure 3)
Gilded bronze shell storage vessel with four oxen and knights (Fig. 4)
Dali Kingdom Silver Gilded Garuda with Pearls (Fig. 5)
All of the above are protected in "National Treasures". There are also many cultural relics. I like its craftsmanship and shape...
The museum is divided into three floors, each with distinct characteristics. A small number of cultural relics are under repair and the pottery museum on the third floor is not open. However, all the cultural relics and their stories are enough to keep people interested for a long time and are worth a visit.
In addition, CCTV's "National Treasure" program, the treasures selected by major museums across the country, through the interpretation of actors and real protectors to tell the past and present of cultural relics, moved me! It is very meaningful for popular science and education, and it also increased my interest in the "treasure hunt" in museums. Part of the reason I came to the Yunnan Provincial Museum was for them!
The exterior of the new Yunnan Provincial Museum is red copper, which in a sense reflects the meaning of "the kingdom of non-ferrous metals". In my opinion, it looks more like a "seal". You must be familiar with a float outside the museum. It once represented Yunnan in the 70th anniversary National Day military parade. Now it is a new "cultural relic" for museum visitors to take photos! At the entrance is an enlarged version of the "treasure of the museum" - a silver-gilt and beaded Garuda!
There is another reason for visiting Yunnan Provincial Museum. I saw CCTV's "National Treasure" at that time, and saw that major provincial museums across the country selected several treasures to display, telling the history of cultural relics. It was very educational and attracted me, and I became more interested in visiting museums to learn about cultural relics. This time I came to Yunnan Provincial Museum, and I was fortunate to see three cultural relics that were exhibited on the show at that time.
The new Yunnan Provincial Museum has become a landmark building in Kunming. It is both beautiful and meaningful. This provincial museum has also been on the "National Treasure". There are many national treasures in the museum, as well as precious cultural relics that have been on the "National Treasure" special exhibition. The Song Dynasty Dali State Silver Gilded Beaded Garuda, Three-Pronged Figurine Bronze Lamp, Chicken-shaped Pottery Pot, Western Han Dynasty Bronze Drum with Ox Pattern, Warring States Period Bronze Table with Ox and Tiger... I believe everyone will be familiar with them.
Yunnan Provincial Museum was established in 1951. It is the largest comprehensive museum in Yunnan Province, covering an area of 150 acres, with a building area of 60,000 square meters and an exhibition area of 16,500 square meters. It is one of the first national first-class museums.
The new Yunnan Provincial Museum is adjacent to Guandu Ancient Town and can be visited together. The national treasures are bronze artifacts of the Dian Kingdom, such as a bronze table with a tiger devouring an ox, various bronze shell storage vessels and bronze drums.
The fastest way to understand a province is to visit a museum. Whenever I go to a place, I will go to the museum to see the cultural relics and learn about the history. If you have time, you can really visit it.
In general, the new Yunnan Provincial Museum is worth a visit. It is very helpful for understanding the culture and history of the ancient Dian Kingdom, the Dali Kingdom, and the history of the Yunnan-Vietnam Railway. Last year, the Yunnan Provincial Museum was featured in the second season of "National Treasure". Don't forget to take a closer look at the four-ox gilded knight bronze shell storage vessel, the Garuda, and Nie Er's violin. However, the new Yunnan Provincial Museum is located in a remote area in the south of the city. It is far from the city center by bus. There is also the Guandu Ancient Town nearby that can be visited together.
The exterior facade of the Yunnan Museum is very geometric, with distinct blocks, and the interior space is also quite grand; unfortunately, the internal guidance system is a bit lacking, and you often end up mistaking the location or taking a long detour.
The Provincial Museum in the morning light reflects the warm sun, and its purple copper coat seems to emit its own brilliance, which is incomparably beautiful. The exhibits are even more wonderful, from the paleontological fossils reflecting the Cambrian explosion in Chengjiang to the pessimistic bronze ornaments of fighting beasts in the Dian Kingdom, from the Ercuan stone tablets of the prominent families in Nanzhong to the gold and stone Buddha statues in the Miaoxiang Buddhist Kingdom in Dali, Nanzhao, from the chieftains' appointment letters for the expansion of Yunnan in the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties to the active figures of the Flying Tigers and the Expeditionary Force in modern China, a Yunnan with profound heritage and vitality begins to spread around us.
The new museum is located next to Guandu Ancient Town. There are many attractions, from Lufeng Dragon to the modern century. It is recommended to reserve more than 3 hours to visit slowly.
If you want to know the past and present of Yunnan, don't miss it when you go to Guandu Ancient Town.
There are many treasures in the museums of every province, and we look forward to everyone coming to know them.
This museum is a new one, far from the city, but worth a visit
After seeing the national treasure, I came to the Yunnan Provincial Museum
Great venue, there are free volunteer explanations, although the uncle's Mandarin is a bit hot, but the explanation is very vivid
Go and see to learn about Yunnan's history and culture.
Like all the bronze artifacts, the four-ox gilded knight shell storage vessel, the ox-tiger bronze table, it's dazzling
From ancient times to the present, the museum has exhibited many treasures, and it is full of cultural atmosphere. It is worth the trip.
Every time I go to a city, I will go to the local museum to learn first. Yunbo is very grand and worth a visit.
The construction project of the new Yunnan Provincial Museum is one of the ten major landmark cultural facilities in the province.
The new building of Yunnan Provincial Museum is opposite to Guandu Ancient Town. It covers a large area and has many exhibition halls. It has three floors in total. Each exhibition hall is very distinctive and you will definitely gain something after visiting it.
The museum is located near Guandu Ancient Town. Overall, it can be rated four stars. The cultural relics in the collection have Yunnan characteristics. The voluntary guides are very dedicated and kind. Parking is charged, but the charge is not expensive.
It is recommended to visit the museum in 3 to 4 hours.
There are a few small problems.
1. The lighting in the museum is too dim, especially in the first part of the exhibition hall on the second floor. You almost have to put your head against the glass curtain wall to see the introduction.
2. The signposts are not clear and tourists often go to the wrong entrance and exit.
Overall, it's worth going.
It is worth a visit to learn about history and see nice buildings
The new museum is very good, the furnishings and introductions inside are very sophisticated, it is worth a visit, people who love museums can go early, it took 4 hours to visit only the second and third floors, and I didn't have time to see the first floor
I took my son there. This museum is a new one, opposite the Guandu Ancient Town. The content inside is very good and it took a lot of thought to design. Of course, there are some treasures, such as the treasures of the town hall, which are slightly lacking, but as a public learning place, it is quite good and must be recommended.
What shocked me most in Yunnan Museum was the "God Road Map". Through the glass, you can see the endless scroll, which is a wonderful feeling. If you don't know a city or its customs and stories, the fastest way is to go to the local museum to discover it.
This is a museum that focuses on history, or a museum that only talks about history. Unlike the Guizhou Provincial Museum, which only has one floor, all the fixed exhibitions here are about the history of Yunnan, from the age of paleontology to modern times. In terms of historical display, it can be said that the cultural relics are rich, the history is wonderful, and there is no dynasty gap. It is worthy of praise. Just for this history, we watched it from 11 o'clock until the closing time of 5 o'clock in the afternoon. It is worthy of being a national first-class museum.
There are advantages and disadvantages. Compared with Guizhou Museum, it loses in terms of service: there are no comfortable and sufficient rest seats, you are not allowed to sit on the stool and close your eyes, there are no clear signs prohibiting the entry of items, mobile phone gimbals are not allowed, there are no free mobile phone voice explanations, and there are no vivid exhibition forms. If Yunnan Provincial Museum can learn from Guizhou's wisdom and experience, it will be impeccable.
Finally, the Guizhou Provincial Museum also has exhibitions on ethnic minorities, while Yunnan has a separate ethnic museum, and the two places are far apart, which is inconvenient for us.
Especially suitable for older children, dinosaurs, human bones, fish bones! Very novel
The museum has a great collection and the introduction is detailed. The explanations by the volunteers are also very interesting. It is one of my favorite places in Kunming. There are staff members in each museum to manage the order. It is worthy of being a national museum. I spent an afternoon in it and still didn't see enough until closing time. Haha
The newly built Yunnan Provincial Museum has a majestic appearance, just like a modern work of art, and the collection of cultural relics is extremely rich. Following the explanation, from the ancient life records of Yunnan to the precious relics of the ancient Dian Kingdom, Nanzhao Kingdom, Dali Kingdom, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, the stories of Yunnan in history were filled in my mind. Among the many cultural relics in the collection, the most representative and distinctive ones are the bronzes of Dian culture, the Buddhist cultural relics of Nanzhao and Dali Kingdom, among which the ox-tiger bronze table of the Warring States Period, the golden Aksaya Guanyin statue and the golden-winged bird of the Dali Kingdom are rare treasures and the treasures of the Yunnan Provincial Museum.
Once I entered the museum, I seemed to forget the time. I stayed there for more than four hours and didn't leave until around two in the afternoon.
As a designer and artist, this place is worth visiting
It's really good. The history is from far to near, very logical, giving you a different experience
I came across a flower with a fragrant aroma outside the museum. It was very special. The name of the flower was actually "water ghost banana". The Yunnan Provincial Museum has a beautiful building, and the color was chosen to be the same as the red soil. This museum feels comfortable and pleasant! There is also a "Jukula" coffee shop at the entrance, and its origin is also extraordinary. There were very few people when I went there, but there were more people on weekends, and people lined up in a long queue. The treasure of the Yunnan Museum is the ox-tiger bronze table. A tiger cruelly bit the tail of an ox. At that time, the craftsman's creative concept was that the law of the jungle was the universal law, and the calf also indicated the hope of endless life.
The architectural style is eclectic, the surroundings are extremely spacious, and the greenery is neat and tidy. There are also rich contents about the ancient Dian Kingdom and the Nanzhao Kingdom. I spent the whole afternoon, four and a half hours, reading this.
Yunnan Provincial Museum represents the past, present and future of Yunnan Province. Every time I go there, I have different feelings and gains. I can always find some touching and warm feelings there. It is the cradle of history and knowledge, and the volunteer aunts who explain the museum are also very good!
Must give 5 stars. We went to the newly built Yunnan Museum, which is very unique. We originally planned to stay there for a morning, but ended up staying for a whole day.
I first learned about the ancient Dian Kingdom from Ghost Blowing the Lamp: Yunnan Worm Valley (purely fictional), and I kept mispronouncing the name of the ancient Dian Kingdom. Today, I finally got to know about this mysterious dynasty. The Yunnan Provincial Museum allowed me to see the history of Yunnan from the explosion of the universe, the birth of life, the landing of animals, the extinction of dinosaurs, to the modern history of the past hundred years. Although I cannot understand the practices of human sacrifice and headhunting, I admire the exquisite skills of our ancestors. I hope that in the next few days, the weather will be good, so that I can have the opportunity to experience Yunnan as a special city with a unique culture formed by many ethnic groups.
Yunnan Provincial Museum is one of the best provincial museums in the country. Its collections are exquisite and unique in style, completely different from the cultural relics in all other provinces in the country.
The biggest attraction is the shell storage vessels and bronze wares of the ancient Dian Kingdom, which have distinct characteristics of the northern grassland Serbs. Bronze wares with realistic human and animal themes are extremely rare in China. At the same time, the weapons of the ancient Dian Kingdom are luxuriously decorated and very distinctive.
The second is the Miaoxiang Buddha Kingdom Exhibition Hall, which displays several gold and silver statues that I personally think are the most beautiful and are also very different from other places.
You can also see the ethnic minority culture and modern Yunnan history here. It is a very rich museum.
I went there on my last day in Yunnan. It was magnificent, simple and clean! I caught up with the theme exhibition of Princess Sissi, but I mainly watched the special exhibitions, starting from the original Yunnan. There were many volunteers (elderly people) who explained enthusiastically and seriously, and there were also many children who were very active in learning and understanding. It seemed that I felt like a Yunnan native at that moment. It's a pity that the time was not long enough. I mainly learned about the cultural and religious exhibitions of Yunnan's ethnic minorities. It is really a cultural province. I don't understand why the economic zone has not kept up... Although the weather in Kunming was not good this time, the Provincial Museum alone is enough to attract me to come again next time! Worth recommending
It is not easy to go to the museum under the sun on a hot day. The appearance of the building is very unique.
The most recommended attraction in Kunming is the Yunnan Provincial Museum, but it is quite far away. It takes at least an hour to get there by public transportation from the city center, so you need to plan your time carefully.
The exhibition was quite satisfactory. I thought that the Yunnan Provincial Museum would not be very exciting, but I was severely slapped in the face. The bronze ware mainly promoted shell storage vessels unique to Yunnan, as well as Yunnan's unique natural characteristics. Many bronze ware were based on natural animals.
As a backpacker who likes visiting museums, my suggestion is that if you are a museum lover, the Yunnan Provincial Museum is not to be missed. If you are just an ordinary tourist with a little interest, this place will definitely give you surprises and make you feel that the trip is worthwhile.
The exhibition hall mainly displays Yunnan's historical civilization, showing the development of Yunnan's history from 500 million years ago to 1949 and 14 important historical nodes. It is also a systematic display of the brief history of Yunnan's development, which is the first time in Yunnan Museum. The museum design keeps pace with the times, the hardware is superb, and the comprehensive services are in place. When you come to Yunnan, you must visit the Yunnan Provincial Museum.
The museum is large, but has few collections and few visitors. It is far from the city.
This is probably my third time in Yunnan. Every time I come, I pass through Kunming and visit a few places. This time I chose the museum and found Fuxian Lake so mysterious. It seems I must go there next time!
It took almost a whole day to see the changes of Yunnan, from the Chengjiang biological explosion, Yunnan worms, the earliest fish discovered on earth, "Kunming fish", Lufeng dinosaurs, ancient Dian Kingdom, the junction of South and Central China, Nanzhao, Dali... I rented a guide for 20 yuan, and also took the free explanations at 10:20 in the morning and 14:20 in the afternoon. The information from the guide and the explanation complemented each other, and I made up for the glorious and mysterious past of Yunnan. It was worth the trip and the day. The overall feeling is not inferior to the Shanghai Museum and Nanjing Museum, and it is definitely worth visiting.
The old building of the Provincial Museum is at the intersection of Dongfeng Road and Wuyi Road, and this is the new building, which is located on the south side of the intersection of Guangfu Road and Guanbao Road. The new building looks like a cube, inspired by the traditional "one seal" residential architecture of the Yunnan Yi people, and has a narrow and long slit shape that runs through multiple layers, which is a metaphor for the world-famous "Stone Forest" landscape. The new building covers an area 10 times that of the old building, and the exhibition hall area is much larger than the old building, and the number of visitors it can accommodate has also increased greatly.
For a museum lover like me, this museum is beyond imagination both in appearance and in its interior! Great!
The most unforgettable thing about this trip to Kunming is probably the new building of Yunnan Provincial Museum. When I learned that it was built on Guangfu Road, so close to my home that it only takes 20 minutes to walk, I couldn't wait to go there.
It faces the Yunnan Grand Theater directly and there are no large buildings blocking its view around it. When the lights of the theater are turned on at night, it is hard not to notice them.
The architecture is magnificent, the collection is rich, and the local characteristics are obvious. Each reason is enough for me to give up popular attractions such as Dianchi Cuihu Park and Ethnic Village and choose to spend a whole day here.
On the way to the museum, we saw many flowers and plants we had never seen before, and unexpectedly discovered Datura. Yunnan seems to be a place with a martial arts atmosphere.
Like other museums, the Yunnan Provincial Museum is closed on Mondays and admission is free with an ID card.
The picture on the ticket is the treasure of Yunnan Province - the bronze table of two oxen and one tiger.
There are many interpretations of this exquisite bronze artifact with a 360-degree view. The most popular one is that the bull was willing to sacrifice itself to protect the calf in its belly.
Without interpreting too much into the meaning, just from the perspective of conception and design, it is really novel and unique.
Because the head of the ox is heavy, a tiger leaning back is added to the tail to balance it and make the whole bronze table dynamic. The wisdom of the ancient people is really admirable.
The museum has scheduled free tours every day. I have posted the notice here. You can arrange your time in advance according to the time of the tour.
Most of the tour guides are retired volunteers. Some of the older ones may not speak very well, and their Mandarin is not standard, but everyone is very enthusiastic, so you will gain a lot after listening to them.
When we went there, there was an African mask exhibition on the first floor, so the explanations were only on the second and third floors.
One thing I want to complain about is that the explanations on both floors only talk about the floor you are on and start at the same time. I also confirmed with the staff that this is the case. This means that you cannot listen to the explanations on both floors by yourself.
There was no other way, I had to listen to the second floor myself and send Bubble to listen to the third floor. After listening, we told each other about it.
The museum is far from the city. I took the subway and then the bus to get there. You can use Baidu Maps, which will plan a reasonable route for you. You can get a ticket (free) when you enter the museum gate, but I entered for free when I went there. I guess there were too few visitors. The museum has three floors. The first floor is a temporary exhibition hall, which exhibits some temporary exhibitions. The 2nd and 3rd floors are fixed exhibition halls. The museum is closed on Mondays and open normally at other times. The opening hours are 9:00-17:00 (admission stops at 16:30). There will be free explanations at 10:20 in the morning and 14:20 in the afternoon (for specific content, please refer to its official website), but there is a pity that the explanations on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the museum are carried out at the same time, so you can only listen to the explanations on one floor in a period of time. The museum is arranged in chronological order from ancient times to modern times, from the 2nd floor to the 3rd floor, so it is recommended that you start from the 2nd floor to visit first. As someone from Shanxi, a province rich in cultural relics, I was just here to have a look, but after listening to the explanation, I felt that I had come to the right place. This is the most direct, three-dimensional and convenient place for you to understand Yunnan culture. I sincerely recommend that you go and have a look and listen in person, you will definitely gain a lot! The following pictures are the cultural relics that I think are representative. There are horses stepping on flying swallows in the north, ox-tiger bronze tables in the south, and Yunnan's unique shell storage vessels (piggy banks in ancient times), all of which are representatives of the bronze art of the south. There are also General Cai E's military uniform, the violin used by Mr. Nie Er, and the first five-star red flag raised in Yunnan by New China, etc., which together show you this magical fertile land on the border of the motherland!
The most distinctive feature of the new museum is the Nanzhao Dali Kingdom. It is very rewarding to follow the explanation to understand its past and present.
The old museum has been converted to other uses. The first floor here is a temporary exhibition hall, and the second and third floors are the real Yunnan theme regular exhibitions. When visiting, it is best to visit according to the timeline, from the origin of species to modern history. Friends who come by taxi, sit at the gate on the Guangfu Road side, which is very close to the entrance of the museum. It is free now and there is no need to register your ID to exchange tickets. As long as you don’t bring any prohibited items, you can enter after a simple security check. There are guides for rent at the service desk on the first floor. Deposit 100 and pay 20 with your ID, which can be used for one day.
The new Yunnan Provincial Museum is located at No. 6393 Guangfu Road. It is quite far to walk from the gate to the museum, and the place to store items is even farther. The main building of the museum is derived from the weathering landform characteristics of the stone forest. The plane is in the shape of a Chinese character "回", which is inspired by the traditional residential architecture of the Yunnan Yi people. The weather was very good that day. Looking at the brick-red museum and the blue sky from a distance, the visual feeling was good, and the photos did not look real.
The museum has three floors, showing the natural history of Yunnan, human evolution, the Neolithic Age, the ancient Dian bronze civilization, the Nanzhao Dali Kingdom, the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, and the history of modern Yunnan. I spent about 3 hours visiting. As a provincial museum, especially a museum that should have very strong ethnic characteristics, it is not as rich as I imagined. Of course, it is still worth a visit.
I took an Uber and drove around for a long time before I found it. It is right next to Guandu Ancient Town. The architectural appearance of the new museum is very eye-catching, and the teachers are very serious and patient in explaining to tourists. When I come to a city, visiting its museum has become a must-do itinerary for my trip.
The new museum is good and worth a visit. It has many collections and I also learned a lot about Yunnan's history.
Have to complain:
1. The museum is so big that it takes 5-10 minutes to walk from the exit to the entrance. Although the ticket is free, you still need to exchange it with your ID card at the XXX place on the right side of the entrance. The key is that there are no obvious signs along the way, which caused us to waste a lot of time.
2. We originally planned to store our luggage on the first floor, but we were told that it was too late and that all stored items had to be cleared out before 4:30, so we visited the museum dragging our suitcases.
3. When we left, the vertical elevator was closed, and the escalator only went upstairs, not downstairs, so we also dragged our suitcases downstairs
There are many cultural relics in the museum, but we really didn't have time, so we only visited the Nanzhao Dali Kingdom Museum and left in a hurry.
Overall, the service experience was not that good. Of course, we still gave feedback to the museum in the end.
Yunnan Provincial Museum is a comprehensive provincial museum in China, located at No. 118 Wuyi Road, Kunming. It houses exquisite bronze wares from the Dian Kingdom and the "Du Shaoling Riding a Horse" painting.
To understand the local people, if small parks and squares are grassroots windows, then the local museum is an official window.
The new exhibition hall has a wide space and there are many things to see and learn.
The museum is quite large, but not many people go there. Most of the natural science exhibits are fake models, which cannot be compared with the Beijing Natural History Museum. However, the other cultural relics are very good. I saw things like the Eagle Claw Cup, which I couldn't see in other museums. There is also a detailed introduction to the Dali Kingdom in Nanshao, which allows you to learn about this period of history. Friends who are interested can go there. It is near the Guandu Ancient Town.
When you come to Kunming, you must visit the Yunnan Provincial Museum. I remember it is in the new museum in Guandu District. Here you can see rich history and interesting treasures.
From the ancient life records of Yunnan to the ancient Dian Kingdom, Cuan culture, Nanzhao Kingdom, and Dali Kingdom. Yunnan Museum highlights the local characteristics very well and witnesses the integration of cultures. I rented an interpreter and walked around for a day but still haven't finished it [black line] Porcelain Museum has not been seen yet (-᷅_-᷄)
As a volunteer guide at the museum, I enjoy communicating with people from different places and cultures in the museum. The museum displays more than 10,000 exhibits, but I later learned that many precious exhibits were not on display due to space limitations. I have been a volunteer for almost half a year and learned a lot about the stories behind the cultural relics. When walking in the museum, I often have the illusion of traveling to a novel at any time. Friends who are interested in visiting can come to listen to the volunteers' explanations on Saturdays. Our explanation time is 10:20 am and 14:20 pm. The first, second and third floors will explain at the same time. You can spend a day to walk into the story of Yunnan.
I am used to visiting museums in every capital city. Although I know that the Yunnan Provincial Museum is similar to the Guangdong Provincial Museum, there is nothing to see, but I still go to see it for free. After visiting, I found that there is really nothing to see, hahahaha. But the regular exhibitions may still be attractive, such as this Italian Renaissance exhibition.
The new Yunnan Provincial Museum is located in Guandu District, opposite Guandu Ancient Town. It is open to the public for free. Tickets are exchanged for ID cards. Security checks are required for entry and bags must be stored.
The main building of the new museum is refined in the form of the "stone forest" intention, and the plane is in the shape of a Chinese character "回", which is inspired by the "一印" style traditional residential architecture of the Yunnan Yi people. It is a huge work of art.
Yunnan Museum is near Guandu Ancient Town. The transportation is inconvenient and the signs are unclear. We went to Guandu first, walked a long way out, and took a taxi. For a tourist province with a long history and inhabited by multiple ethnic groups, the museum has poor content.
I support the new museum. If you have time, I recommend going there. It is not far from the city in Guandu. The sense of space, collections and layout of the building are all great. After all, the history of Yunnan is somewhat different from the Han cultural circle. It starts from the prehistoric geological fossil group and goes all the way to liberation. There are many small objects and Buddha statues, as well as some model scenes. There are some local purple pottery in the ceramics museum that you can look at and take pictures of, but you can't touch even the glass.
Admission is free. As the first stop in Yunnan, it is a good choice to learn more about history, culture and geography.
There are 6 permanent exhibition halls, ranging from ancient Yunnan (mainly geology) to modern revolution (mainly humanities). What surprised me was that the exhibition and explanation of the ancient Yunnan section were extremely rich. It would take about 3 hours to look through this hall carefully. The most outstanding one in terms of humanities is the Miaoxiang Buddhist Kingdom in Dali, which has the statue of Acuoye Guanyin, the treasure of the town hall.
Except for the bug in the explanation device, everything else is pretty good, from the Big Bang to modern times, and there are dinosaur models
It's so great that I don't want to leave. The whole building is a work of art
The appearance of the new Yunnan Provincial Museum is said to be derived from the weathering landform of the stone forest. It is located at No. 6393 Guangfu Road, Kunming City, on the shore of Dianchi Lake. There are many buses nearby. Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday 9:00-17:00 (no admission at 16:30) (closed all day on Monday). The overall environment is very clean and stylish, with a very artistic atmosphere. Before entering, you need to bring your ID card to the ticket office to register. At the same time, the place can also provide group audience reservations, ticket collection, large object storage and other services. After registering the information, the staff will give each person a ticket (free of charge). There will be staff checking tickets when entering, and security checks are required. The entire building has 5 floors, and 3 floors are open to the public. Walking into the hall, the first thing that catches your eye is the blessing wall. You can write down what you want to say, what you can say, and what you should say on sticky notes, and then stick them on the wall. It's very interesting. Then walk in and you will see the information desk. There is a contemporary art museum on the first floor. I don't know if the content of this exhibition hall will change with the activities. The second and third floors mostly introduce the development history of Yunnan and the cultural relics exhibition of Yunnan, which is relatively fixed. When you come here on weekends, you will see many parents bringing their children to play. Now many people have begun to let their children have the influence of art from an early age, which is very positive. The rest area and toilets in the exhibition hall are well-equipped and modern. There are also water dispensers and cafes at the entrance on the first floor, which are convenient. I thought it would be enough to visit for 2 hours, but we didn't finish the afternoon. Unexpectedly, the exhibition hall is reasonably designed and fascinating. For students who like art, every time they go to a place, they must go to the museum there. The new provincial museum is a good place worth visiting.
Very good, there are many exhibition halls inside, and the Dali Kingdom exhibition is very interesting
The museums in every province are worth visiting, especially Yunnan Province, which has such unique features: numerous ethnic minorities, beautiful natural scenery, legendary ancient history, and rich mineral resources. Now the Yunnan Provincial Museum is a new museum, with a very modern appearance, which is quite unpopular with me. It is said to be modeled after the shape of the stone forest. It is divided into three parts. The third floor is ancient Yunnan, introducing the ancient Nanzhao Kingdom and the Dali Kingdom. The stories are so rich that it is breathtaking; the cultural relics are so rich that it is dazzling; the second floor is ancient Yunnan, which is more like a natural museum, from the Big Bang to mineral displays to dinosaurs to Yuanmou people, etc. It is a good place to take children; the first floor is a temporary exhibition hall. We were so lucky that we encountered a special exhibition of the "Ancient Tea Horse Road". It was jointly created by several provincial museums in the southwest, which satisfied my curiosity about the "Ancient Tea Horse Road" and enriched my knowledge. Admission is free, open at 9 o'clock every day, closed on Mondays, and each ID card can get two tickets. The ticket collection point is at the southeast corner of the museum gate. For the rest, please see the picture.
A very sincere museum. The Miaoxiang Buddha Kingdom series is very shocking, and the dinosaur series focuses on the popularization of knowledge and dialogue
🎀If you are going from Dianchi Lake, you can take bus c143, get on at Hongta Road East Station and go directly to ~
🎀It looks super big from the outside, with a Garuda at the door, which is super cute. There are three floors in total, each with a different theme, and the focus is on the second and third floors.
🎀Basically, it covers all the periods of Yunnan, which is pretty good.
🎀Across from it is Guandu Ancient Town, where you can go to eat and drink after shopping ~ no need to worry about having nowhere to go ~
