The Manfeilong Pagoda is a famous pagoda complex in Xishuangbanna. Known as the "Bamboo Shoot Pagodas" for their rapid growth, they resemble bamboo shoots in spring. Also known as the "White Pagodas" for their white color, they are a symbol of Xishuangbanna. Construction began in 1204 AD and consists of nine pagodas: a main pagoda and eight subsidiary pagodas. Their bases are shaped like a multi-petaled plum blossom, with the main pagoda surrounded by eight smaller pagodas at eight corners. A human ankle imprint, believed to be the footprint of Sakyamuni, has been discovered on the native rock beneath the niche directly south of the pagoda, inspiring its construction. The Manfeilong Pagoda is renowned throughout China, Myanmar, Laos, and Thailand, attracting thousands of devotees annually to pay homage and offer sincere gifts, expressing their veneration and reverence for the Buddha.

It's worthless, a waste of time. I checked online and it was free, but they still charged an entrance fee halfway through.
The Buddhist temple behind Manting Park is small in scale, but has a strong historical charm. There is no entrance fee. It is said that there are more locals there. It is connected to Manting Park. The scenery is not big and there are not many people. It is high up on the mountainside, with holy water and a white pagoda. I think it is a must-see attraction. It is located in the center of Jinghong City, about one kilometer next to the Splashing Water Square.
This place should be one of the attractions. From time to time, you can hear the tour group's explanation. There are some religious etiquettes to pay attention to. The area of the attraction is not very large. If you go there by yourself, you can just walk around and leave. If there is an explanation, you will know some small stories.
The Manfeilong White Pagoda, also called "Tanuo" by the Dai people, is a common style of pagoda in Xishuangbanna. The pagoda's base features an altar, bell stand, double-sided altar, lotus, stork, parasol, and wind pennants. The pagoda's architectural style reflects the artistic characteristics of Theravada Buddhism, which originated in Burma and Thailand, while also possessing distinct ethnic characteristics.
It's OK, there are many kinds of plants and the air is fresh
The Manfeilong Pagoda is located on a hilltop behind a village called Manfeilong in Damenglong, Jinghong County. It is 70 kilometers from the autonomous prefecture's capital, Yunjinghong, and 3 kilometers from Damenglong. It is a famous pagoda complex in Xishuangbanna. Some call it the "Bamboo Shoot Pagoda," referring to its rapid growth like bamboo shoots. Others call it the "White Pagoda" because of its white color.
The Manfeilong Pagoda is located on the back hill of Manfeilong Village in Damenglong, Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture.
Especially good scenery, typical Southeast Asian Buddhist architecture
I like Xishuangbanna, both the scenery and the food are very, very good.
It is a tower at the back door of Manting Park. It is quite beautiful.
In Manting Park, you will see
The entire village is built snugly along the hillside, with the White Pagoda perched at its summit. The land in the middle, once used for crops, has been converted over the past decade to more economically valuable rubber trees. The path to the White Pagoda winds its way up through the rubber forest. The village is remarkably clean. While there are variations from the early Dai wooden houses to the later brick-bottomed wooden houses and the newer all-brick houses, the architectural style remains remarkably consistent. The courtyards and storeys are meticulously maintained, creating a comfortable atmosphere.
The White Pagoda is currently undergoing a fresh coat of paint. Its pristine white body and golden spire gleam in the sunlight, creating a tranquil beauty that lacks the marks of time. Interestingly, in Dai customs, a goddess dressed in aquamarine robes and called "Jellyfish" is more like a patron saint passed down from their traditional culture, with Sakyamuni taking a backseat to the Jellyfish goddess.
Maybe the pagoda I saw was a replica, but it was just as beautiful.
Actually, Manfeilong is my hometown! Born on a rubber farm, although not Dai, I grew up near a Dai village. As a child, I often accompanied my parents to visit Dai friends. Dai festivals vary in size and grandeur. The Manfeilong Pagoda is perched atop a hillside, its spire visible from kilometers away! Each of the pagoda's eight diamond-shaped sides houses a Buddha! Each Buddha statue is made of pure gold, their faces benevolent and lifelike. Legend has it that when the pagoda was built, a young monk was placed beneath each Buddha statue to stabilize it. This left an indelible sadness in my childhood, for those little lives! Perhaps it's just a legend! We have no way of verifying it! During every festival, Buddhist temples hold Buddhist ceremonies at the pagoda! At the foot of Pagoda Mountain, a long market will be set up on both sides of the street in the small town. Most of them are Dai snacks, whether cold, fried, steamed or grilled. We call this kind of market "ganbai". It is a market that I still miss so much even though I have been away from my hometown for many years! The holy pagoda is the faith of the Dai people!
It is said to be the largest group of Hinayana Buddhist pagodas in China. It is magnificent and worth a visit.
Prices have skyrocketed, now 80 yuan for the entrance fee and 40 yuan for the electric bike. There's a ticket booth at the village entrance, but you can bypass it. The tower is on a hill, and while there are viewing booths outside the mountain gate, the prices are ridiculously high. It was a rip-off. I spent 17 yuan on a ride from the South Bus Station, but didn't get to explore the village. I did take a look at the village; the houses are well-maintained, and every household has lots of flowers. I went to Damenglong to check it out; it's currently under construction. It was less crowded in the afternoon, so I took another two-hour ride back. Most of the flat land along the way was banana fields, and the hills were covered in rubber trees.
The Manfeilong Tower is located on the back mountain top of Manfeilong Village in Menglong Town, Jinghong City, Yunnan Province. It consists of a main tower and eight small towers, just like a bunch of spring bamboo shoots emerging from the ground. Because it is as white as snow, it is also called the "White Tower".
It's 47 kilometers away from Jinghong by car. The ticket is 50 yuan and the sightseeing bus is 10 yuan. However, the two Dai restaurants at the entrance of the village are good. The last picture is more than 200 yuan for so many dishes. The second to last picture was taken in the morning at the accommodation. The scenery is good and it is quiet.
The scenery is pretty good. You can go and have a look.
The Manfeilong White Pagoda is located in Manting Park. It is also called the Manfeilong Pagoda, which is very exotic.
The correct name should be Manfeilong White Pagoda. It was under repair when I went there. It was nice to stroll around the small villages around it.
It was raining when I went, so there were few people and it was very quiet. I loved that feeling! They charged us 30 yuan for admission at the entrance, saying there was a discount. When I asked for it, they said they didn't have any, so I didn't pay them. I walked around today and saw that it was under construction. I guess they'll charge admission once it's finished! It's a really nice place, and the village isn't commercialized!
The unique architecture of the Manfeilong Pagoda is majestic and elegant.
It is a famous group of pagodas in Xishuangbanna, and some people call it "Bamboo Shoot Pagoda".
It consists of a main tower and eight small towers, like bamboo shoots emerging from the ground. There are also two Buddhist landscapes, the Big Footprint and the Holy Well, which can be seen together.
There are two towers in Manfeilong, one white tower and one black tower. The white tower has a history of hundreds of years.
Because it's so far from other attractions and a few dozen kilometers away, it seems quite deserted. We were surprisingly the only two tourists there. The map wasn't accurate, and the path up the mountain was rather rough. But the scenery was still quite nice. Halfway up the mountain, we even spotted a family of Dai people practicing slow-wheel pottery.
First built in 1204 (during the Southern Song Dynasty), the pagoda has a circular base and eight sub-towers tightly surrounding the main pagoda, known as the Octagonal Vajra Throne style. The management said that foreigners who admired it would stay here from dawn to sunset, just to find the perfect time and angle to capture the most beautiful moment with their cameras.
Uncle Hou said that it was snow-white when it was first painted a few years ago, but I think its current appearance has a more historical feel.
It's nice to sit on the lawn and take a rest, take pictures or something
It is a very beautiful white tower, located in Manting Park. In the photos taken, the tower is white and the sky is blue.
The Manfeilong Pagoda we visited is located in Manfeilong Village, Menglong Town, Jinghong City. It is also called the Feilong White Pagoda. It is amazing and well-preserved.
The tower shape is unique and representative, and it is worth seeing.
Manfeilong Tower has local characteristics, but it is far away from the city.
Not many people go there, but it is a little hard to park at the foot of the mountain and a little hard to find, but it is still worth a visit. It is very quiet along the way, and the pagoda is very original and has a historical flavor.
A very good attraction full of historical flavor
It's just far from the city and has to go up the mountain road, so there are few tourists.
The pagoda is beautiful and quiet under the sun
There weren't many people there when I went, so I thought it was just an ordinary white pagoda. I didn't realize it was so famous. I didn't see a tour guide, so I didn't know much about it. It's beautiful, though. I heard there are pilgrims there, but I didn't make it.
The building is beautiful, really, it is inside Manchester TING Park, the ticket is ten yuan, student ID card is required.
After walking through the small gate, you can see the Manfeilong White Pagoda. Maybe it was because the weather was so good, but I was shocked when I saw the tower. It was so beautiful.
Even though there was no protection, I didn't touch it because it was so beautiful. I felt like I had lost out when I got back (┳_┳)...
I went here on the second day of Songkran. I don’t know if it was because it was still the Dai New Year holiday or it has always been like this, but I didn’t see any staff and didn’t need to buy tickets. There were very few tourists, so it was very pleasant to visit. The tower is very beautiful, I love it here!
I feel that the photo I took is more beautiful, more charming, and more representative of the style of Xishuangbanna, so I left this photo in my footprints.
It's quite big inside, the tower is very beautiful, and the shape and details of the Buddhist temple building are full of local flavor.
It feels so mysterious and sacred. It is the most beautiful pagoda I have ever seen. I always remember this beautiful legend.
Not many people, 2 yuan for admission. It's very nice. I did this as a project in school before, and I have always longed to see it since then.
The original plan was to go to Menglong to see the Manfeilong Pagoda, but in Menglian Qu'ou told me not to run 70 kilometers to see the pagoda. The pagoda is really like the Menglian Golden Pagoda. It is composed of nine white pagodas, with the main pagoda in the middle and eight small pagodas around it. She regretted it after going there.
This flawless white tower seems to be the first time I have seen it. This is the only place in China where you can see such a tower.
In the afternoon, I took a minibus to visit the Manfeilong Pagoda in Damenglong (said to be the most historically significant Buddhist temple; there's a replica in Manting Park). The bus took an hour to get to the South Bus Station. I told the driver to get off at Manfeilong. The inn was very close to the South Bus Station, about a 10-minute walk. When we arrived, there were only a few tourists, but the pagoda was beautiful and there was no entrance fee. The village was also beautiful; every household looked wealthy, and many had modern Dai houses.
It seems that the one we saw in Manting Park was a replica, which should be in proportion and looked good.
The original one should be near the Dai Garden. There is a replica in Manting Park, which is exactly the same.
If you live nearby, just look at it. There is no need to go.
It is worth a visit to the Zongfo Temple. It is said that the Zongfo Temple is the main place for locals to burn incense and pray.
The first attraction we visited was the Manfeilong Pagodas. We took a minibus to Damenglong and then walked 3 kilometers to see the pagodas, which are located on a hilltop. This area was rarely visited by people, but it was one of my favorite attractions in Xishuangbanna.
It has a great reputation. When I visited here, there were many people and the scenery was chaotic.
I walked around it three times, saying it would bring good luck. The pagoda was a little dirty. The small stairs going up were very interesting, and there were groups of small ants.
The Manfeilong Pagoda is quite spectacular. I heard it's the largest Buddha statue, and there are sightseeing buses available. I was especially careful to note that they said there were free peace ropes and the information on the paper they gave you was explained, but when you actually got inside, you were mainly asked to pay for incense and candles, which was not a good feeling.
In fact, it is just a tourist attraction in Manting Park. Compared with other buildings, this attraction was quickly forgotten.
Everyone calls this the Big Golden Pagoda. The surrounding environment is very good. It is in Gaozhuang Xishuangjing, with the Lancang River behind it.
It is the best-preserved and most valuable Buddhist temple in existence. It is nestled beneath towering tamarind trees, against a backdrop of lush bodhi trees. In the sunlight, the golden ornaments on the temple's roof gleam like dazzling pearls.
The ancient pagoda is said to be the place where Sakyamuni Buddha left his footprints. There is a small locked house next to the temple, and there is a large footprint inside. It is said that there are seven footprints in total, and this is just one of them.
There are two towers in Manfeilong: the White Tower and the Black Tower. The Dai people in Xishuangbanna believe in Buddhism, and if you are lucky enough to come during a festival, you can see the whole process.
The Manfeilong Tower is very distinctive, but it is far from the city center, so you have to charter a car to get there and take a border tour on the way.
These pagodas are very distinctive. They are located on the border of Yunnan and you need to charter a car to get there. The local grilled fish is particularly delicious and worth recommending.
There are Dai legends and Buddha's big footprints here, but they are all in Dai language, without too many detailed explanations.
This is the landmark building of Xishuangbanna, hidden on a mountain in Menglong Town. It has a strong sense of history and the ticket price is 5 yuan. It is worth visiting.
This is also a famous tower. It is introduced in every Banna travel guide. It mainly has an ancient story.
I remember seeing this tower on the calendar at home when I was young. Now when I walk to this place, I find that it is still so beautiful.
It's really beautiful. Due to its remoteness, there are not many tourists and only one gatekeeper. I strongly recommend going to see it.
Across the small river from Manfeilong Village, there are more than 200 stone steps. On the left is the vast primeval forest, and on the right is the lush rubber forest. The tower group is built on the mountain and embraces 8 small towers.
It's so beautiful! I love this place. The weather must be great when I visit. The pure and flawless white tower is under the blue sky!
The legendary White Pagoda has a white body with black and gray due to the erosion of wind and rain.
The White Pagoda is a Vajra-throne-style pagoda complex, with one main pagoda and eight secondary pagodas. From a distance, it resembles a magnificent forest of white pagodas. The Dai people call it "Tano," which means "bamboo shoot pagoda." When it was first built, the pagoda was as white as snow, earning it the nickname "White Pagoda." Legend has it that the pagoda was designed by three Indian Buddhist missionaries and built by a Dai chieftain in 1204, making it over 800 years old.
The pagoda complex consists of nine towers of different sizes. The White Pagoda is famous for its white body, and the golden spire looks like a bamboo shoot emerging from the ground, so it is also called the Bamboo Shoot Pagoda.
A typical Dai pagoda in Xishuangbanna. It was my first time traveling alone, and the scenery I saw, the people I met, and the friends I made were all deeply memorable.
The Manfeilong White Pagoda in Damenglong gets its name from its location. It's also known as the Flying Dragon White Pagoda, and because its pristine white body and golden spire, like bamboo shoots, sprout from the ground, it's also called the Bamboo Shoot Pagoda. This ancient structure of Theravada Buddhism is located 67 kilometers southwest of Jinghong and 3 kilometers from Damenglong Town. Legend has it that it was designed by three Indian monks and built by the ancient Menglong Ba Nanpi in 565 of the Dai calendar (1203 AD).
The pagoda complex, consisting of nine towers, is built on a mountaintop. Its base is shaped like a multi-petaled lotus, with a circumference of 42.6 meters. The main tower stands 16.29 meters tall, surrounded by eight smaller towers arranged in an octagonal pattern. Each tower stands 9.1 meters tall. The towers are gourd-shaped, their white bodies decorated with a variety of exquisite sculptures and paintings. The backs of the shrines are decorated with various animals, flowers, and cirrus patterns. The pagoda finials are decorated with treasure vases, silver bells, and wind chimes. The rhythmic shapes of the towers embody the architectural style and religious customs of the Dai people.
The Manfeilong White Pagoda is an ancient Theravada Buddhist building that integrates the architectural art of the Han ethnic group in the mainland and the Dai ethnic group in the border areas. It has high artistic value and is listed as a national key cultural relic protection unit.
Legend has it that the White and Black Pagodas are the left and right feet of the Buddha, symbolizing happiness and wealth. Descending the mountain, I wandered through the village, where I saw some ancient Dai-style houses, a testament to the passage of time. I took a bus and continued to the Black Pagoda, a place even less visited. After half an hour of walking along the 40-degree trail under the scorching sun at 12:00, I finally saw a golden pagoda. The Black Pagoda wasn't dark at all.
It is nearly 60 kilometers to Banna.
It has unique features, a long history and ornamental value.
Here, it is only more than ten kilometers away from the border.
