Mengyuan Wonderland

勐远仙境

Mengyuan Wonderland is located in the Xishuangbanna National Nature Reserve in Yunnan Province, within the UNESCO Man and Biosphere Reserve. It is one of the first pilot projects for the creation of health and wellness towns in Yunnan Province and one of the 20 key cultural and tourism projects in Yunnan Province.
The planned area of Mengyuan Wonderland is about 16.4 square kilometers, with a total investment of about 4.8 billion yuan. Focusing on the overall goal of building a world-class "healthy living destination", it strives to create a Lancang-Mekong Cooperation health and wellness demonstration flagship project, focusing on high-net-worth individuals, and driven by the coordinated development of the four major sectors of health and wellness, tourism, study, and sports. It is positioned to build a "rainforest cave, health and wellness paradise", to create a world-class haze detoxification destination, a tropical rainforest canyon health and wellness paradise, the country's first constant temperature cave professional health and wellness base, and a domestic high-end retreat.
Mengyuan Wonderland is rich in tropical rainforest resources. The project is located at 21° north latitude, with an average annual temperature of 21°C. The Baojiaoniu Cave maintains a constant temperature of 21°C throughout the year, with no extreme heat in summer and no severe cold in winter, making it a natural healing place. The peak value of negative oxygen ions reaches 320,000/cubic centimeter, making it a natural negative oxygen ion bath. The earth's magnetic field is between 4.6-5.0 gauss, making it a natural magnetic field healing place. The small molecular aggregate structure water flowing out of the original tropical rainforest is rich in minerals such as strontium and orthosilicic acid.
The project has a unique rehabilitation and recuperation environment and a three-dimensional ecosystem. It is a health and wellness travel and retreat resort that integrates leisure, sightseeing, vacation and experience.
Mengyuan Wonderland boasts diverse ecological resources such as karst cave wonders, tropical rainforests, and karst landforms, as well as diverse cultures including Theravada Buddhism, Baojiao cattle culture, and Dai and Yao ethnic customs. It is a "wonderful holy land" for wellness and travel, where one can cultivate the soul and improve one's body and mind.
Mengyuan Wonderland's rich tropical rainforest resources and vibrant ethnic cultures have attracted outstanding film, television, and entertainment production teams from both China and abroad. It served as the filming location for the BBC's "Discovering Chinese Cuisine: Xishuangbanna, Yunnan," the Baidu and Discovery program "U-Life Survival Pioneer Challenge," the film "Peacock Princess" starring Tang Guoqiang, and Hunan Satellite TV's Mango TV programs "Wild Kitchen" and "Little Chase."
Mengyuan Wonderland has transformed from a traditional sightseeing destination to a destination focused on immersive experiences. Experience tours, in-depth tours, unique specialties, and study tours are key features of the scenic area, making it one of the most robust scenic spots in Xishuangbanna and one of the most promising for future development. In addition to traditional sightseeing offerings such as cave tours and rainforest hiking, the area has also developed a wide range of in-depth and experiential tours popular with high-end travelers, including tent camping at the Starry Sky Camp, via ferrata expeditions, rainforest dining, cave exploration, rainforest trekking, Dai architecture courses, rice paddy fishing, a rainforest streamside hotel, farm picking, bonfire parties, RV camping, magnetic field therapy, nature therapy, cave wellness, yoga, Tai Chi, and calligraphy. As the project develops and develops, it will gradually introduce a premium wellness resort hotel, a top-tier health management center, a top-tier health checkup center, haze removal and detoxification programs, the Ten Dai Therapies, and Traditional Chinese Medicine treatments.

Mengyuan Wonderland was not originally in our plan, but it was really worth the trip.

The caves were quite impressive. We also did a jungle safari, which was even more interesting. We waded through rivers, ate wild grasses, and drank tree sap (you couldn't buy food or water during the safari, but some plants provided water and others could be eaten). It was a really fun 7-hour safari, with only a few rations to fill our stomachs.

Rock climbing was even more fun. It was my first time, so I challenged myself! I'm a bit timid, and it took us seven hours to climb a mountain. I never thought I'd have such stamina. Haha, I'll definitely bring my son to try it next time.

Mengyuan Wonderland is quite beautiful, especially perfect for a visit in autumn and winter. It's truly cozy during this season, and you'll often see many tourists visiting during the warmer months, making it a perfect place to relax and spend the winter. Summer isn't too hot, though, making it a perfect time for adventure. I think there are two truly worthwhile attractions in Mengyuan Wonderland: the Baojiao Niu Cave and the thousand-year-old King Tree at the end of the rainforest hike (which, by the way, is incredibly large; even our group of six couldn't wrap their arms around it). First, let's talk about the Baojiao Niu Cave. It's not that this cave holds a significant place among cave-related scenic spots; compared to the caves in Guilin and Guizhou, it's certainly not spectacular. However, it's quite unique in Xishuangbanna, which is primarily tropical rainforest. As far as I know, Mengyuan Wonderland is the only other place that combines tropical rainforest with caves.

What captivated me most was the story surrounding the Baojiao Niu Cave. It goes that long ago, the area surrounding Mengyuan was a kingdom of wild cattle. In this kingdom, a powerful bull reigned supreme, claiming thousands of females as mates. To monopolize the herd, the Bull King slaughtered all the other bulls in the herd. Whenever a cow gave birth to a male calf, the Bull King would trample or gore it to death. Later, a cow mated with this Bull King and became pregnant. She suspected the fetus was a male. Unable to bear the thought of the Bull King's cruelty, she took advantage of the herd's foraging for grazing in the mountains and retreated into the dense forest, where she hid alone to await the birth of her calf. Sure enough, a male bull was born, the Baojiao Niu, known as Huaihaoxiang in the Dai language. Later, the Baojiao Niu's mother told the grown-up that her father was the incredibly powerful and cruel Bull King of the kingdom. The Baojiao Niu was filled with both resentment and envy. Later, it hid in the mountains, honing its skills and sharpening its horns. It found an opportunity to return to the buffalo kingdom and defeat its father. After Huaihaoxiang (also known as the Baojiao Niu) killed the old bull king in a cave and replaced him, he became even more brutal than the old one. Not only did he kill males, he also showed no mercy to females. Many elderly and underage cows perished because they could not satisfy his will. This new bull king also frequently entered the village and killed people and livestock. Eventually, the villagers, unable to tolerate this, organized hunters from several nearby villages to hunt down the bull monster. They used various methods to kill it in a cave now known as the Baojiao Niu Cave. The cave still houses scenes of Huaihaoxiang and his father fighting.

The adventure activities were quite interesting, especially since the area is very ecologically preserved and not as commercialized as other scenic spots. Overall, it really showcased the inherent qualities of nature. Oh, and the rainforest food was delicious. We even camped there that night, and the air was truly beautiful. Perhaps we went at a good time, as there were lots of fireflies around the campsite. Overall, it's definitely worth a visit.

I've always been fascinated by the pristine wildness of the tropical rainforest, and I had this idea: a trip to Mengyuan, an encounter with the unknown. Upon entering the scenic area, I was struck by the towering trees. The so-called sea of forests is a vast ocean of green, touching, absorbing, enveloping, lingering, and fermenting. For a moment, my body felt like it didn't belong to me. Its origins were this nature, and it still belongs to it. I heard that this was where Zhuge Liang stationed his troops during the Three Kingdoms period. Seeing this beauty, I felt like a fairyland. It truly is the intersection of human and heaven, half fairyland, half mortal. Everything was perfectly arranged. The trip to Mengyuan Wonderland was worthwhile!

I've always been fascinated by pristine rainforests, dreaming of visiting one in my lifetime. I'd originally planned on a tropical destination, but this trip to Mengyuan was no less impressive. It perfectly matched my vision of a rainforest, truly worthy of being called the "Oscar of the Rainforest"! Besides being my first time there, I also had many surprises: experiencing Dai culture for the first time, exploring caves, and worshipping Buddha with devotion... I even learned to cook a Yunnan Dai meal with the local Dai people, haha. The three days I spent there were truly fulfilling and enjoyable, and it truly fulfilled a dream of mine!

Mengyuan Wonderland lives up to its name! It's a foodie's paradise. Bamboo rice, pineapple rice, hand-pulled chicken, special baba... Perhaps it's because the food is handmade, it's a world away from the fast food we eat in the city. To put it poetically, it exudes natural flavors, the finished dishes still retaining the freshness of green leaves, the heat of wood fire, the sweetness of mountain springs... Okay, that description is a bit poetic, hahahaha. In short, it's delicious! Excellent!

Mengyuan Wonderland is truly a truly surprising place. Initially, I was completely unaware of its existence. It was only when my uncle spoke of it in a conversation, full of praise, that my curiosity piqued. After extensive online research and in-depth research, I was captivated by this fairyland-like place. Upon my actual visit, I was even more astounded. "Green mountains never tire of beautifying, flowing waters never cease to amaze." Surrounded by verdant mountains and verdant waters, the quaint architecture embodies the unique charm of a place tucked away in the tranquility of a natural oxygen bar in the tropical rainforest. I spent a day here, enjoying a variety of food, drinks, and entertainment, and it was truly worth the trip.

One of the most famous attractions in the scenic area is the pagoda. Located in front of the Mengyuan Fairyland Blessing Temple, this pagoda is called "Tabangre" in the Dai language, meaning "relic pagoda." Buddhists will undoubtedly understand its meaning. Both its shape and structure are unique to Xishuangbanna. Its octagonal eaves reflect the deep blessings of generations of Buddhist monks. Its spire reaches the sky, symbolizing the closest distance to heaven—to the gods, to heaven, and to happiness. It also implies the promotion and spread of Theravada Buddhism. Built by a monk from Laos, this pagoda holds a sacred status in the hearts of locals. Visitors often circumambulate it, burning incense and praying for blessings.

Mengyuan Wonderland is a place where you can experience jungle adventure.

The pristine tropical rainforest, various exotic flowers and plants, and various curious little insects are quite interesting.

The fact that there aren't too many people is also its advantage. Here you can have fun to your heart's content without having to worry about the crowds, hehe.

The karst caves and strange rocks in Mengyuan Wonderland are strange and beautiful, with unique features and are worth seeing.

There are also various local specialties that foodies must try. The bamboo tube rice is really delicious. Hehe, there are many other beauties worth discovering!

By Can't remember the name |

I'd read a lot of travel guides before coming here, and I'd heard the tropical rainforest here was truly unique, lush and verdant, blocking out the sun. Upon arrival, I discovered it lived up to its reputation: the vegetation was so dense that it practically obscured the sunlight. A walk through the rainforest takes about three hours, and there are paths, supposedly carved by locals for hunting, making it a truly wonderful place for exploration. Walking in a group, you'll discover many trees you've never seen before: tall, with shimmering green leaves, and minimal human damage. The air is fresh, the water gurgles, and it's a truly relaxing and relaxing experience after living in the city for so long.

What's most interesting is that Mengyuan Wonderland hosts various events to celebrate major holidays each year. For example, on International Women's Day, Mengyuan Wonderland held a special thanksgiving event, where a senior Theravada Buddhist monk chanted sutras and prayed for visitors and their families. The monks conveyed the Buddhist ideal of kindness, creating a peaceful and beautiful atmosphere. During the annual Dai New Year, also known as the Water Splashing Festival (mid-April on the Gregorian calendar), monks will come to Mengyuan Wonderland to chant sutras and pray for good weather, happiness and well-being in the coming year. In addition, there is an incense altar in the scenic area. Residents who come to pray can burn incense and make wishes around the incense altar, praying for the safety of their families. What is even more surprising is that Mengyuan Wonderland also organizes many special activities, such as: welcoming holy water at Baojiao Niu Cave, bathing the Buddha to send good luck, a national water splashing carnival, eating a family reunion dinner with ethnic characteristics, releasing water lanterns, watching bonfire parties, barbecue camping... In short, there are all kinds of things, as long as you can't think of it, there is nothing Mengyuan Wonderland can't do.

"As vast as the sky, soaring through the wind, ascending to heaven." Perhaps it's because I've read too many xianxia novels that I've always yearned for these fairyland-like places. I recently stumbled upon Mengyuan in Xishuangbanna online. This place, praised by Zhuge Liang as a fairyland, piqued my interest. Part of the Xishuangbanna Tropical Rainforest National Park, Mengyuan boasts unique natural landscapes like rainforests and karst caves, rich ethnic culture including ethnic minority villages, and the vibrant "treasure caves" of Theravada Buddhism. It truly is a perfect blend of the best. Coincidentally, I was traveling with my mother, so we decided to visit this "fairyland" together.

Yunnan is often associated with the Water Splashing Festival, and I happened to catch the Water Splashing Festival in April while in Mengyuan Wonderland.

The Water Splashing Festival, which means New Year in the Dai calendar, is a traditional festival celebrated by the Dai people, where they celebrate the New Year with a unique water-splashing ritual, showering each other with blessings. From April 13th to 16th, we rose early to bathe and pay our respects to the Buddha before embarking on several days of celebrations. During this time, we splashed each other with pure water, praying to wash away the misfortunes of the past year and embark on a new year filled with good wishes. We exchanged blessings with the Dai girls, dressed in their finery, splashing each other with clear water droplets, smiling broadly even though we knew we would be doused in the water.

Mengyuan Wonderland is such a magical place. Its enthusiasm can melt the barriers between people and leave only the most beautiful memories in the heart.

"Mengyuan Wonderland"... When I first heard this name, I wondered what kind of place could be called a "fairyland".

Later, out of curiosity, I went to learn about this place. I learned that it was located in the only tropical rainforest at 21 degrees north latitude. Driven by this inner desire to verify it, I embarked on a journey to find this wonderland.

With the help of a map and asking for directions, I finally arrived here. Here, I experienced the unique charm of Dai culture, the magnificent beauty of a thousand-year-old rainforest, and the magnificent appearance of a constant-temperature cave. Only then did I truly realize that this place, far from the hustle and bustle, is truly a paradise on earth.

By Bel Egg |

Tired of the densely packed tourists and cookie-cutter internet-famous stores in scenic spots, the ancient and quiet Chengzi Dai Village allowed me to experience the unique charm of Dai culture, witness the sacred knife sacrifice ceremony, and experience the grand festival carnival. The authentic Dai delicacies and the dining environment far away from the hustle and bustle, how can one not like it!

The magnificent waterfalls are refreshing, the ancient tea trees are awe-inspiring, and the Dai knife making, Dai brocade weaving, and the slow-wheel pottery making technique, which has been used for over 4,000 years, are eye-opening.

Mengyuan Wonderland is indeed a great place worth visiting. It retains a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere and authentic customs, like a paradise on earth.

I had heard that the jungle sunrise in Mengyuan Wonderland was very magnificent, so my boyfriend and I got up early in the morning hoping to enjoy the famous sunrise.

Heaven pays off. We entered the jungle just as the sun rose in the east. The moment it emerged, its beauty filled us with awe. Amidst the azure blue sky, layers of clouds emerged, first a golden halo, then a dazzling radiance instantly bathed the earth, even the dewdrops on the leaves were clearly visible. Although the dense jungle trees might have dimmed the sunlight slightly, it still couldn't dampen the dazzling brilliance of the sunrise.

It's really beautiful. If you want to watch the sunrise, Mengyuan Wonderland is definitely worth it.

By Qiwu |

The beauty of Mengyuan Wonderland will make your heart skip a beat, even if it’s only for a second, and your love for it will deepen as you move forward.

On cloudy days, the mist is thick and thin, like a dream or fairyland. On sunny days, the underground primeval forest is lush and mysterious. Whether you look from afar or near, you will find a unique flavor.

Its roads are winding and meaningful, its natural landscapes are the wonders of nature, and its various cultural attractions contain profound historical significance, waiting for us to discover.

I chose Mengyuan Wonderland over other destinations like Dali and Lijiang because I heard it has a wealth of authentic local cuisine. The area's combination of mountains and water, fresh air, and tranquility make it a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. My decision proved to be a success, and the trip was well worth it. The Dai ethnic revelry, the tempting food, and the colorful water lanterns—I initially came here with the intention of just giving it a try, but I instantly felt I'd landed on the right spot. The locals are truly warm and down-to-earth, offering a warm smile whenever you pass them. It's a truly relaxing place for those working in the city!

South of the colorful clouds lies a place where Yao and Dai villages often hold large gatherings. Here, you can not only enjoy Dai and Yao dances, but even if you're willing to join in, the hospitable Dai or Yao will take your hand and invite you to join them! This place—Mengyuan Wonderland—is as natural, pristine, and beautiful as its name suggests.

Nietzsche once said, "Every day you don't dance is a day you've wasted." So what are you waiting for? Come dance in the height of summer at Xishuangbanna's Mengyuan Scenic Area!

I once read in Thomas's book, "Every rainforest is unique, yet all captivate you with their tenacious vitality and pristine beauty." But the tropical rainforest isn't far away. Here, you'll experience the rainforest at its most pristine, authentic, and scorching. Life thrives here, and the ancient trees and streams, undisturbed for millennia, speak to you. The beauty and wonder of the rainforest can only be truly appreciated by approaching and entering it. I recommend everyone to come here to experience Mengyuan's wonderland, protect this expanse of green, and appreciate this precious gift from nature.

It was early morning, before the sun rose, and the fog was thick. The occasional bird song echoed through the forest, something I'd never experienced in the city. A gentle breeze stirred the leaves, creating a rustling accompaniment. I followed the winding path up the mountain. The sun had just risen, but a thin mist still hung around, as if the clouds above were also lingering in a fairyland. The distant mountains grew hazy in the shadows of the clouds, their colors gradually fading as they approached. I took a deep breath, savoring the fragrance of the leaves in the sunlight and the moist feeling of the mist. Away from the dust and smog of the city, a break for my body and soul.

If you want to escape into the embrace of the woods one day, I think Mengyuan Wonderland is a good choice.

Before our group trip, when the organizer announced our destination, Xishuangbanna, Yunnan, the WeChat group erupted in excitement: "So far!" "Sob! My wallet's about to be empty again..." Actually, that wasn't the case. When we paid, we each only paid 370 yuan. Upon arrival, my photography enthusiast began documenting the trip! The highlight of this trip was visiting a Dai village. The Dai calendar was completely incomprehensible, but the illustrations were adorable. Finally, let's talk about the food. The stir-fried dishes had a salty and fragrant flavor. I highly recommend the lemongrass grilled fish, one of the signature dishes at Lover's Bridge Restaurant, which specializes in ethnic cuisine. I've always believed that eating fish doesn't make you fat, it can actually increase your IQ, and I think the spice blend was delicious! <・)))><< It was truly delicious! This trip is filled with joy, except for that one accidental fall while exiting the cave...

Some Dai villages are great for photography; we saw people taking artistic photos of folk dances! However, be careful when entering a village: If Dai people are offering sacrifices to the village deity, don't enter. Don't touch the heads of young monks. Always take off your shoes when visiting a temple. Once inside a Dai home, don't peek into the owner's bedroom or step over a tripod in the hall.

All in all, the scenic spot is generally good. I want to come again next time.

My trip to Mengyuan Wonderland was truly a pleasant surprise. I went there with the intention of seeing a tropical rainforest I'd never seen before, but I also gained a fantastic dining experience, a warm welcome from the locals, and a relaxing wellness retreat. Here's a quick breakdown of my trip:

I went there during the winter break, hoping to escape the cold, and I wasn't disappointed. One of the main points promoted by the scenic spot is its constant temperature of 21 degrees Celsius. I don't know if it's constant, but it's really nice to be able to enjoy the spring-like warmth in the cold winter.

There are hotels with good environments in the scenic area. We stayed in Baonius Villa, which is very close to the fairyland. The environment is not bad. It cannot be said to be amazing, but it is definitely comfortable enough.

Next, I have to talk about the most important thing for foodies: food. Maybe it's because I haven't tried it before... I think everything in Wonderland is delicious! That natural, close-to-nature flavor is hard to replicate anywhere else! The bamboo rice, hand-pulled rice, and lemon chicken are all incredibly delicious! (I had the lemon chicken at an old man's house in the village. The people there are so welcoming, and if you're lucky enough, you can even get to eat at his home. It's a truly amazing experience!) The scenic area's speciality is the Rainforest Dinner, which is truly a feast! It's also worth a try!

In short, it is a very worthwhile attraction to visit. I recommend friends who have never been there to experience it.

It's been so hot lately, and a trip to this wonderland is a great way to relax and enjoy life while also escaping the heat. The exotic customs of the ethnic minorities and the pristine natural landscapes are soothing, and the forests, with their abundance of trees, are perfect for escaping the heat, perfect for those in the big city to unwind. With mountains, water, and culture, it's well worth a visit! The caves are especially spectacular; I loved them!

Mengyuan Wonderland is the perfect place to visit during flower viewing season. It boasts a vibrant mix of tropical and subtropical plant and wildlife species, and its well-preserved rainforest ecosystem earns it the title of "Kingdom of Plants and Animals." The area also offers a variety of ethnic cultural performances, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the authentic Dai culture. Those interested in experiencing Dai culture should consider visiting now. The scenic area's culinary offerings are another highlight, with bamboo bowls and chopsticks offering a unique dining experience.

Highly recommended, everyone! First, it's fun. Take the Jiutian Waterfall, for example. A massive rock face is carved with wavy lines, cascading down from the cave ceiling to the ground, resembling a flowing waterfall. The waterfall's top is unseen, a true testament to its "cascading down three thousand feet." Further along, you'll see karst formations shaped like horses, flying birds, elephants, and peacocks. These formations are scattered throughout the cave, as if heaven has replicated the earthly scenery below. It's truly breathtaking. Secondly, it's delicious. The famous local bamboo tube fish is prepared this way: clean small fish, mix with garlic, ginger, chili peppers, celery, and other seasonings, and then place them in a bamboo tube. Light a fire, place the bamboo tube in the fire pit, and wait until the tube turns from green to yellow. The combination of the fish's fresh flavor and the bamboo's delicate fragrance is unforgettable. Villagers say they grow all their own vegetables, never using pesticides. The fish is caught in the river, and the wild vegetables are harvested from the mountains—truly natural and pollution-free. There are also animals and plants in the rainforest that you have never seen before. It is really eye-opening!

Mysterious, lush, beautiful, dangerous, vibrant, and deadly—every tropical rainforest can be described with these contradictory phrases. It's because the rainforest is a place that captivates all adventurers. I'm not a true adventurer, but I just enjoy wandering and discovering things I've never personally known. The Amazon rainforest has long been renowned, but due to economic and geographical constraints, I sought opportunities to fulfill my desire within China. Yunnan was my first choice. I'd always known Xishuangbanna had a rich ethnic character, but I'd assumed it belonged to neighboring countries like Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand. I never imagined it actually belonged to Yunnan Province. How foolish!

When I first read other people’s travel guides, the first thing I noticed was Mengyuan Wonderland. Because I didn’t know the word “Meng” (meng), strange things are always attractive. It successfully attracted me, and then I was attracted to it!

Mengyuan Wonderland (full name: Mengyuan Scenic Area of Xishuangbanna Tropical Rainforest National Park) is an eco-tourism scenic spot with Theravada Buddhism as its background. It integrates mountains, water, rocks, limestone seasonal rain forests, cave communities, Dai and Yao ethnic customs, and health and wellness vacations. Its famous attractions include: the original tropical rainforest, Baojiaoniu Cave, Dai and Yao villages, and Baoniu Villa Resort.

Tickets for the scenic area are 68 yuan per person for adults and 90 yuan per person for adults (ticket + tour bus).

After visiting Mengyuan Wonderland, I'm so glad I chose to go. It was so much fun. If it weren't for the classes I had to go back to, I wouldn't have wanted to leave. I highly recommend it! Pick, pick!

Until recently, I only knew Yunnan for its Cangshan Mountain and Erhai Lake, and also for Xishuangbanna. This time, I stumbled upon Mengyuan Wonderland by accident. The fairy-tale-like beauty makes me incredibly grateful for this unexpected encounter. There are so many things in Mengyuan Wonderland that amaze me, whether it's sitting on the ground enjoying a feast, walking barefoot on the moist soil (while incredibly comfortable, I still recommend bringing plenty of mosquito repellent and wearing shoes to avoid being targeted by jungle bugs), or simply sitting quietly by a flowing stream—it all makes my worries fade away. Mengyuan Wonderland is a perfect place to spend time alone. Occasionally changing my lifestyle while traveling has helped me become more comfortable with myself, so I'm recommending this magical place to you too!

The rainforest is the most beautiful (actually, it's a pretty good one, the only downside being the mosquitoes, which I personally find quite annoying). My favorite part is the Panwang Festival, or Danu Festival. Oh, it's a festival of the Yao people, who are known for their singing and dancing, fiery passion, and incredibly strong (muscles honed from acrobatics! So beautiful). Their rituals of worship, blessing, and exorcism often involve a series of extraordinary feats, two of which are breathtaking: climbing a ladder of knives barefoot and walking through a sea of fire. It's a true visual delight, and the caves are also amazing. Overall, I give it a high score. (To show off my photography skills, I'm posting some pictures!)

Since I hadn't heard much about the area before, and it was a bit far away, it took a lot of courage to come here. I was afraid I'd be disappointed at first, but after arriving, I felt it was truly wonderful. I'm glad I had the courage to take on new challenges. After arriving, I discovered it was even more beautiful than I'd imagined. It was well worth the trip. Yunnan has many beautiful and magnificent sights, but few have such pristine scenery. Experiencing the pure natural rainforest, taking a spontaneous trip, and finding some joy in my youth. Time is so short, so why not give yourself some time to appreciate the land beneath your feet?

I was worried that I wouldn’t be famous enough, but after coming here I realized I had made a profit!

I have been to other places in Yunnan before, but maybe I didn’t like the overly strong commercial atmosphere, so my impression of it was not very good. Then this time I wanted to find a place with few people and beautiful scenery. I read a lot of travel guides and finally locked the location as Mengyuan Wonderland in Xishuangbanna.

As for transportation, the scenic area has a free shuttle bus. You can take the Mengla-bound bus from Xishuangbanna Bus Station to the Mengyuan exit. The shuttle bus will take you to the scenic area, so you don’t have to worry too much about transportation problems. It is quite convenient to go there.

The most noteworthy aspect of the scenic area is the lush tropical rainforest. When the sunlight streams through the forest, everything grows with abandon, and you can feel its vibrant vitality. The jungle trek is truly thrilling, so be sure to bring long sleeves and mosquito repellent. Besides the towering trees, the unnamed plants and insects at my feet also opened my eyes to the myriad of amazing plants.

When I arrived, I happened to catch the Water Splashing Festival. The feeling of revelry is still unforgettable. Everyone gathered together, splashing water, and wandering in the world of water was so refreshing and exciting! I also witnessed many ethnic minority customs, such as welcoming holy water, cockfighting, and releasing water lanterns. There was really a lot of activities here. And it feels like it's not as commercialized as some other scenic spots, so it's perfect for independent travel!

The roads in Mengyuan Wonderland are truly breathtakingly beautiful. Walking along, you're bathed in endless greenery, offering peace of mind even under the scorching sun. The green leaves reflect the sunlight, creating a lush, lush vista. The roadside is covered in moss, a variety of grasses, and shrubs, a completely different landscape from that found along city roadsides and in parks. This growth evokes a sense of primal, unfettered energy. Standing in the rainforest and taking a deep breath seems to allow this energy to permeate every cell of the body, filling one with vitality.

Mengyuan Wonderland is located in the beautiful Xishuangbanna, where it is like spring all year round. Here you can feel the mystery of Theravada Buddhism and experience the charm of Fushou culture. The most important thing is that it is an ecological tourism scenic spot that integrates mountains, water, stones, limestone monsoon rain forests, cave communities, Dai and Yao ethnic customs. Not only is the ecological environment on the ground beautiful, but the underground cave landscape is also very distinctive. In short, I felt its charm during the two days in Mengyuan Wonderland. Compared with other places I have visited, it is the most unique, and I think I will definitely come again.

The cave is truly magical and beautiful. I heard the temperature inside is 21 degrees Celsius year-round. There are caves within caves, each one connected to another, and the scenery changes with the cave. It's a classic example of karst landforms. I think it would be great if our teacher could come here and explain karst landforms to us, just like the stalactites we see in class. But my favorite part is the tropical rainforest. The people in the tribal village are so simple and kind. Their houses really feel primitive, and of course, their lifestyle is just as primitive. Overall, it's a great place to visit. It's less crowded than the more popular tourist spots, so you can experience Xishuangbanna better.

Well, going to Yunnan seems like all about the Water Splashing Festival. Ultimately, these have become part of the tourism industry, losing their original authenticity and cultural charm. Yet, many people still go because current tourism consumption levels are low, with most still confined to sightseeing, enjoying the excitement and simply passing the time. If that's the case, the Mengyuan Scenic Area is essentially like many other scenic spots in Yunnan—just one of them is a good choice. However, as consumption levels rise and people increasingly embrace cultural and enjoyable tourism, Mengyuan Wonderland will undoubtedly be worth a visit. The scenic area boasts two Dai and one Yao villages, both of which have been inhabited for generations. If you truly want to experience local culture and life, this is a great option—though two or three days wouldn't be too much for you.

In any case, I still hope that everyone will choose attractions according to their travel purposes. After all, it doesn’t matter whether you upgrade or not. What matters is happiness and spiritual satisfaction, which is different for different people.

There are relatively few tourists. There is a section in the cave that requires you to crawl and walk, which is quite interesting.

It's a big cave. It's hot outside and cold inside.

By Partinger |

It's a worthwhile attraction, with an underground river. I don't know if it's because of road construction, but there aren't many people there. Camping is possible, and there are wilderness adventure tour groups.

If you go there during the rainy season, you can see clouds and mist almost every day, as if you are in a fairyland. There are many primitive Dai villages scattered around, which are worth exploring carefully.

Exploring the tropical rainforest caves, the road is really difficult to walk~

The scenery is like a dream and a fairyland. It is a great place to go with family and friends. The local specialties are also delicious. The service is very good and it feels very warm. I will definitely come again next time. We agreed. Wait for me.

It's just an ordinary cave. Honestly, I didn't find it particularly interesting. Caves are all the same everywhere, all lit up in red, green, and yellow, and it's pretty tacky. However, this trip was with the Scarecrow group, and we hiked an unexplored section with a guide. We saw some bats, so it was okay. Not a big recommendation.

There is a cave in the mountains with a small bridge and flowing water. It is very nice. I went there during the Chinese New Year. Because it is relatively remote, the transportation is very poor. Remember to bring more water when you go. The scenic area is very large and there is almost no place to buy things.

Mengyuan Wonderland is rarely visited due to its inconvenient transportation. A monument at the entrance calls it "Baojiaoniu Cave." Entering the cave, it feels like entering a treasure trove, filled with the mere sound of gurgling water. A small river runs through the cave floor. Watching the fish swimming quietly, I imagine they are the most fortunate, unmolested by any external forces! Looking up at the cave ceiling, we see numerous Zhonglu stones, formed by the constant erosion of water droplets. My family of three carefully observed the shapes of the stones and gave them various interesting names. The narrowest part of the cave is only wide enough for one person to pass through, while the wider part can accommodate gatherings of ten thousand. The temperature inside the cave is constantly around 20 degrees Celsius, making it a true summer retreat. The one-kilometer walk took us nearly an hour.

The ticket price for Mengyuan Wonderland is 120 yuan, the discounted price is 80 yuan, and the price for the elderly and children is 50 yuan.

The scenic area mainly consists of caves and rainforests. The caves have a long history and are worth seeing.

Located in Mengla County, this scenic spot, nestled against the backdrop of Theravada Buddhism and the culture of longevity and happiness, integrates a unique ecological landscape of mountains, water, rocks, limestone monsoon forests, karst caves, Dai and Yao ethnic customs, traditional Chinese longevity culture, and wellness and wellness retreats. Mengyuan Wonderland is a typical tropical rainforest karst cave, while the canopy corridor of the Parashorea chinensis offers a celestial experience, while Mengyuan Wonderland offers a glimpse into the depths of the earth, each with its own distinct characteristics.

Charter car: We recommend visiting Wangtianshu and Mengyuan Wonderland, with a car fee of around 500 yuan.

Accommodation Guide: Mengyuan Wonderland Baonius Villa can provide accommodation. Friends who have plenty of time can consider staying at Baonius Villa for one night. Booking online for 200+ can provide 1 night's accommodation + 2 free tickets to Mengyuan Wonderland, which is quite affordable.

Tickets are 120 yuan, 60 yuan with a student ID. A guide is 50 yuan per person. Many tourists give up on this attraction due to time constraints and transportation. It's truly spectacular; entering the cave is like entering a fairyland. The various strange rocks and craters are dazzling, and the gurgling water is clear and tranquil. It's like a paradise on earth, a dreamlike experience. We didn't hire a guide, but having one would have been even more captivating, listening to the legends while witnessing the wonders.

It's a bit like Shihua Cave. It's very cold inside. I didn't encounter any patrols, but there should be surveillance. It's far from the city. If it's not on your way, I don't recommend it.

Mengyuan Wonderland actually has many large attractions, including adventure, tropical rainforest, folk villages, etc., which are suitable for tourists with sufficient time and physical strength.

Mengyuan Wonderland (full name: Mengyuan Scenic Area of Xishuangbanna Tropical Rainforest National Park) is an ecotourism destination with a Theravada Buddhist background. It combines mountains, water, rocks, limestone monsoon rain forests, karst cave communities, Dai and Yao ethnic customs, and offers health and wellness retreats. Located in Mengla County, Xishuangbanna Prefecture, it is 100 kilometers from downtown Jinghong, less than 20 kilometers from Mengla County, and only two kilometers from the newly opened Kunming-Bangkok International Link.

This privately contracted small scenic spot is really not worth going to, especially the Baoniu Villa. Don't book it, it's terrible! There is no service at all! It's just a scam to find someone online!

The Mengyuan Wonderland Scenic Area is truly a spectacular attraction. Entering the caves is like entering a fairyland. A variety of bizarre rocks and craters shimmer in vibrant colors, while the gurgling water creates a tranquil, serene, heavenly experience, a dreamlike ambiance. We didn't hire a guide, but having one would have been even more captivating, listening to the legends while witnessing the wonders. Our walk through the caves took over an hour—it was incredibly long and captivating. So, don't forget to visit "Mengyuan Wonderland." It would be a shame not to.

The scenery inside the cave is average, but the tropical rainforest in the valley behind it is nice and worth visiting.

I went here when I came back from Wangtianshu. The lava landscape was very beautiful when I saw it for the first time. If you like this kind of scenery, you can still come and see it.

By Bei Xiaoou |

I went there with my parents and cousin. It was the first day of the Lunar New Year, so there weren't many people there. As for the caves, I was shocked and just loved them.

By sky |

If you have been to any similar cave before, you don't need to go here, as they are all pretty much the same.

By Susan |

The tour guide didn't take us to this place, but I think it's very beautiful, interesting, and fun. I'll definitely go there next time I go.

By Wu Jiong |

The cave is very big. I don't know if it is because it is too far away, so there are few tourists.
