Although the road is steep, the scenery is very beautiful. This bus has reserved enough time for everyone to visit. After the tour, wait at the door at around 2:20, and the driver will leave there. (Theoretically, the bus leaves at 2:30, but it may leave earlier, so it is better to wait there early.) The driver is the same for both the outbound and inbound trips, so you can remember the phone number. This place is still more humane. If it is late, you can ask the driver to wait. You can feel the scenery by yourself by looking at the photos.

Baishuitai is located in Baidi Village, Sanba Township, southeast of Shangri-La County, 101 kilometers away from the county seat, 2,380 meters above sea level, and is the birthplace of Dongbaism of the Naxi people. From a distance, the shape of Baishuitai, hidden by green mountains, really looks like layers of terraces. Under the sunlight, it looks like a frozen waterfall in a photograph. When you step on the white stone steps, you will feel indescribably cool and refreshing.



In Naxi language, Baishuitai is called "Shibuzhi", which means a flower that grows gradually. Baishuitai is also known as the "field left by the immortals". When you walk to the terrace, you can see that the Baishuitai is stacked layer by layer, just like pieces of slanting moon scattered on the earth, or like the silver ornaments of Naxi girls, stacked into countless silver rings, haloed in the morning and shining in the evening, and the scattered silver light gives people a fresh feeling like throwing gold and cutting jade. On the left side, there is a spring platform shaped like a crescent moon, with clear springs overflowing. It is said that this is the place where fairies dress up. On the lower left side of the spring platform, there is a stone dome, as white as jade, shaped like a pregnant woman, where the local people worship the god of reproduction. Baishuitai is not only a beautiful place, but also the birthplace center of the Naxi Dongba religion, and the place for religious activities and ethnic programs.

Baishuitai is about 2,380 meters above sea level, and its shape resembles layers of terraced fields. The reason for its formation is that calcium bicarbonate in the water evaporates under sunlight to form white calcium carbonate sediments, which then continue to cover the surface to form a spring land, making it one of the largest spring terraces in China.

Speaking of scenery, this is a travertine landform, similar to Huanglong in Sichuan. Although much smaller than Huanglong, the water platform is pure white, and the color of the water is... Tiffany blue! If you compare one water platform alone, this one is better than Huanglong.

From a distance, the entire water platform is spotless, without weeds or moss. When there is no wind, the water surface is like a mirror that can reflect the clouds. A breeze blew, rippling the clear waves, and the light and shadows are like dragon scales. Standing on a high place, the water is deeper and the water is more secluded, and the sky is lighter at the shallower platform. The farther away from people, the whiter the pool wall and the bluer the water. At noon in winter, the sun is on the back of the water platform. No matter from which direction you look, the harmony between heaven and earth is always pleasing to the eye.

Perhaps because of the long distance, there are very few tourists here. In the two hours I was in the scenic area, I only saw 30 to 50 guests. Speaking of the protection of the scenic area, it is also very good. There is no garbage, and no one crosses the warning sign to step on the water platform. Behind the water platform, there are also scenery worth stopping. Several deep pools lie on the travertine stone ground, with varying depths, like jasper. Sometimes it is green and sometimes it is as dark as fluorescent blue. Looking up, there is still some white snow on the top of the distant mountain, and the branches nearby are actually stained with pink. Walking a distance along the trail, letting the water platforms in the distance and near overlap and interweave together, the scenery in front of me makes me feel like I am back in Yuanyang. But I can't tell whether this is the crystallization of human wisdom or a fairyland created by heaven and man.

Don't yearn for Turkey anymore, there is this scenery in China, which is several times more beautiful than Pamukkale! The stronger the sunlight, the bluer the water color. It is recommended to climb the mountain without riding a horse. Riding a horse cannot reach the scenic spot, so you have to walk down. The experience of approaching the beautiful scenery step by step will be better. You must go to the back mountain. The road leading to the back mountain is next to the mountain guard's cabin. It is easy to overlook it if you don't pay attention. I saw many people just take pictures and play for a while in the front mountain and then return the same way. The scenery on the road to the back mountain is like crossing the Amazon River. The shallow water is clear and you can see the bottom. If there are no ripples, you don't know there is water. The beam of sunlight sprinkled in the mountains divides the mountains into two colors of light and dark. There is a natural and distant feeling, which is very primitive and pure, touching the purest yearning for nature in my heart.

However, not many people go here because the road is long and difficult to walk, just like the road to Pudacuo, or even worse. The ticket is very cheap, 30 yuan, but the journey to Baishuitai is long. It takes nearly four hours to drive from Shangri-La. It is almost dusk when you arrive, and the sun is sometimes there and sometimes not. You need to climb the stairs for nearly 20 minutes to reach the highest viewing platform. The natural landform is similar to Pamukkale in Turkey. If you drive by yourself, most of the nearby farm parking lots are charged. You can make an appointment to eat there, so you don’t have to pay parking fees. Most of the owners raise their own chickens, catch them directly and stew them down the mountain to eat later, add matsutake and another side dish, 180 yuan, not expensive, the chicken soup is very fragrant.

If it had rained, it would have been really scary. I don't know how many mountains we crossed, but the scenery was beautiful along the way. There were many unfamiliar mushrooms, little squirrels jumping around, and herds of cattle and sheep walking around casually.

During the rainy season, the road may be interrupted by landslides. It is recommended to go from Lijiang via Tiger Leaping Gorge. The current ticket for the scenic area is 30 yuan. The scenery will definitely amaze you. The scenic area is very small, and the water presents a fresh color. Unfortunately, there are fewer such colors than expected, and it looks very fragile. Some tourists will step into the water, and the limestone will leave footprints. Some pools have turned yellow. If they are not properly protected, they may become dead pools, but compared to this price, this is definitely a conscientious scenic area.

If it is during the flood season, Baishuitai should be very beautiful. The reflections of the trees in the lake are very vivid, and in the distance is the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The distant mountains are unobstructed, and the villages and terraces in the valley are in full view.

At the end, a clear spring is refreshing. This is the source of Baishuitai, the holy spring of the Naxi people. It is so clear that it makes people feel that the world is completely clear. Such a clear spring can create this magical place, which makes people quite insightful. Clear and white are both characteristics of holiness. No wonder the Naxi people regard this place as a holy place.

It is said that if you drink a sip of this spring water, your wish will come true. An old man has been guarding the spring here for many years.

We returned to Lijiang at around 8pm from Baishuitai.



Baishuitai is on the east ring road of Shangri-La, nearly 200 kilometers from Lijiang and more than 100 kilometers from Xiangxian. It is said that there are long-distance buses from Zhongdian County to Sanba Township where Baishuitai is located, but it is not clear. You need to drive or charter a car from Lijiang. Baishuitai is a calcification pool similar to Huanglong. It is not very large and you can go there to see it on the way. The scenery along the way is also nice.

I went there during the National Day this year. The ticket price was 20% off, 24 yuan, which was cheaper than buying tickets online. It took only two and a half hours to drive from Shangri-La to the East Ring Road. The scenery along the way was also great! You can stop and take pictures. Baishuitai is divided into two parts, the lower part is fenced off, and the upper part is not fenced off. As a result, many tourists went in and stepped on Baishuitai to take pictures, without any idea of ​​protecting the natural landscape. If everyone trampled on it like this, where would Baishuitai be in a few years? It would have collapsed long ago! The staff of the scenic area above was also very irresponsible. He sat aside and scrolled on his phone. He stopped the tourists only after being reminded. Many of these tourists were young people in their 20s, dressed like decent people, and their behavior was really uncultured.

The scenery of Baishuitai is very beautiful, but the accommodation conditions are relatively difficult. If you have enough time, you can go there to play~

From Lijiang to Shangri-La, you can take National Highway 214 through Tiger Leaping Gorge Town to Xiaozhongdian Town and then to Shangri-La County. You can also go from Tiger Leaping Gorge Town to Baishuitai. The azaleas at Baishuitai are also quite beautiful, and they are available in late May and early June every year. Not many people go to Baishuitai, perhaps because it is not recommended by many people on the Internet, but the ticket is very affordable, 30 yuan per person. It is a bit similar to Huanglong in Jiuzhaigou, both are calcified pools. Maybe there are not so many people going there, so you can still play leisurely. It is a pretty good place.

Baishuitai is very beautiful, but I don’t know if it is possible to allow tourists to walk over there, wade in the water, feel it up close, and pass the other side of Blue Moon Valley.

The spring water of Baishuitai contains a large amount of calcium carbonate, which becomes calcium bicarbonate. It changes unpredictably in the spring water, which is truly a magical work. It has become a famous scenic spot in China and abroad.

It is easy to miss this scenic spot. If you don't drive yourself, it is estimated that few people come here. There are very few tourists. You need to climb to the top of the mountain to see the scenery. It is just in time for the pedestrian road to be repaired, so it is more laborious to climb up. Of course, you can also ride a horse up the mountain, 50 yuan round trip, and I really saw someone riding a horse up. The mountain is actually quite steep, and it feels more scary to sit on horseback. The ticket is 30 yuan and the parking fee is 10 yuan

Coming out of Diqing, on the way to Lugu Lake, we passed Baishuitai, which is located at the foot of Haba Snow Mountain. It is a bit like Huanglong and is relatively large. We stayed here for one night. According to legend, the two gods of the Naxi ethnic group specially transformed such a "terraced field" in order to let the local Naxi people learn to cultivate land, so there is also a saying of "the immortal's abandoned field". The Naxi culture here is rarely infiltrated and influenced by Han culture, so it retains its own characteristics and original connotations. Naxi scholars call this place the birthplace of Dongbaism. The tour guide introduced to us that the saying "If you haven't been to Baidi, you are not a real Dongba" has been circulating, so we went to seek the truth of Dongba culture and appreciate the wonderful natural scenery of Baishuitai despite the long journey.

Coming up from Tiger Leaping Gorge via Haba Snow Mountain Village, this is a paid scenic spot. Due to the quarrying in the surrounding area, a gust of wind can raise heavy dust. It is hard to imagine that such a green place can have yellow sand~~ I have already started to have altitude sickness when I arrived here, that is, I am weak all over. It is okay to walk on a flat road, but Baishuitai is a mountain climbing. The driver hired a horse for us to ride from the foot of the mountain to the middle of the mountain. The one-way trip is 30 yuan, and the round trip is discounted to 50 yuan. I have to say that this decision is too good! Especially for me who started to have altitude sickness, every step is very strenuous. Riding on the pony is much easier but also deeply uneasy. This poor little beast looks so thin, and the mountain road is very steep. The old grandmother dragged the reluctant pony halfway and the pony had to drink water and eat leaves~~~ It was so scary for me who has no horsemanship. After getting off the horse halfway up the mountain, you still have to climb a mountain road. The mountain is relatively smooth. When you go down the mountain, you slipped because you didn't step firmly. When you climb to the top of the mountain, the scenery is suddenly open. The snow-capped mountains on the opposite side are clearly visible. The mountain is like a paradise with excellent scenery. At the foot of the mountain, locals are selling "annual ring stones". White calcium carbonate sedimentary stones with round patterns are quite beautiful. They cost 30 yuan each. I picked up a piece of the same on the mountain, but it cannot be washed in water, otherwise it will decompose.

Baishuitai is a holy place of Dongba. Similar to Huanglong in Sichuan, it is a calcification pool. It is not very large, but for us who saw the calcification pool for the first time, we still felt it was very beautiful and excited.



About Transportation

From Shangri-La to Baishuitai, you can buy a ticket at the bus station and take a bus, or you can charter a car. The journey takes about 3 or 4 hours. Because people usually go back to Lijiang from Shangri-La via Baishuitai and Tiger Leaping Gorge. We took a bus to Baishuitai, and then chartered a car from Baishuitai to Zhonghutiao for 260 yuan. The restaurant owner at the foot of the mountain has a car that can be chartered. You can also choose to charter a car from Shangri-La, passing Baishuitai to Zhonghutiao for 400 yuan, and if the end point is Lijiang, it will be about 500 yuan. But if you go to Zhonghutiao, you have to stay for at least one day. It is recommended to charter a car to Zhonghutiao, pass Baishuitai, and then take a bus from Zhonghutiao back to Lijiang.

The mountain road from Baishuitai to Zhonghutiao is very dangerous. When we passed by, we saw a traffic police officer handling an accident. The driver said that someone he knew drove a pickup truck down the cliff. There are many mountain roads like this in Yunnan, especially in Shangri-La. You have to be careful and get used to it.



About Landscape

Baishuitai is close to Haba Snow Mountain, and the ticket price is 30 yuan per person. The view is on a small hill, and you can overlook the entire town and village from the top of the hill. The view is nice. Going up the mountain road, you can see small streams along the way. There is already a thick layer of calcification on the riverbed of the stream, which shows that this water is really calcium supplementing. The calcified pools of Baishuitai are stacked like white jade, and the shallow clear water on the platform is very beautiful. There are many stacked shallows further back, and a large emerald green pool without steps, which can reflect clear reflections and is very beautiful for taking pictures.

If you want to take a picture of the beautiful Baishuitai shown on the ticket, go to the calcification pool on the right to find an angle. There is an old man selling calcification sculptures next to it. Don't hesitate, that's it.



About food and accommodation

Baishuitai is not big and you can have fun in it in an hour or two.

It was noon when we got down the mountain. There were restaurants at the foot of the mountain where we could eat. There were several restaurants, and we chose a relatively large one. It was not a peak season, so there were not many people in the restaurant. The courtyard inside the restaurant was spacious, and there was a hall inside that could accommodate many people, but it was not open at that time. We ordered a few small dishes in the small hall, which were not expensive, and the fried fresh broad beans were delicious. The owner of the restaurant has a car that can be chartered. The owner drives very steadily and is trustworthy.

You can also stay in the town, but the conditions seem average. If you want to go to Haba Snow Mountain or Zhonghutiao, it is recommended to stay nearby.



Baishuitai is different from other scenic spots in Yunnan. If you have not been to Huanglong, it is still worth visiting.

Baishuitai is very beautiful, but unfortunately the scenery is too small and the journey is too far. There are only two buses a day. The 2:30 pm bus was 5 minutes late and the bus had already left. The enthusiastic Naxi uncle quickly called the bus driver and drove us to catch up with the bus. Good people have a peaceful life. I missed the bus for two consecutive days and met kind people. It is quite far from Shangri-La County, about 100 kilometers away, and most of the roads are mountainous. We hired a Tibetan driver and the driver was very nice and even invited us to his home for dinner.

Baishuitai actually feels a bit similar to Huanglong, but it is actually a very small tourist attraction. It is also a layer of small beaches. There are local people playing on the top of the layers. Some people burn incense and worship. There is also a spring that is said to be very effective. Locals also drink water directly there. I didn't drink it because there were some people burning incense around. My friend who went with me drank it and said it was very sweet, but it was very Liangshan. There is also a spring flowing down from the mountain at the foot of the mountain. It is very sweet.

In fact, there are still quite few attractions in Shangri-La. Not many people go there. If you are interested, you can still go and have a look. After all, the scenery along the way is also good.

I like this place very much, but the transportation is a bit inconvenient. Because of this, there are fewer people. It would be more beautiful if the water was bigger. I hope I can have a chance to see it slowly in the future.

Actually it wasn't very beautiful when we went there, but the name of Little Yellow Dragon is indeed worthy of its name, and it is very artistic when combined with the sky.

It has been a long time since it rained heavily in Diqing, and the super beautiful Baishuitai is only half as beautiful because of the low water level.

It is one of the more inconvenient attractions in Diqing (all the attractions in Diqing are inconvenient, okay!). I drove there by myself, starting from Shangri-La, along a sparsely populated third-level highway. If the navigation hadn't kept correcting me, I would have suspected that I had taken the wrong road.

But, but, but, the scenery along the way is very primitive and beautiful!!!

The facilities in the scenic area are very old, and the main attraction is the lava pool, but it is very beautiful when viewed from above.

The ticket price was around 30 when we went there. At the foot of the mountain you can choose to ride a horse up the mountain, which is 50 per person. It's not worth it. In fact, the horses only carry a short distance, and the horses can't go up the rest of the mountain road, so you have to climb the whole thing by yourself.

Be sure to climb to the lake with trees, it's very beautiful.

The plank road we take down the mountain has been in disrepair for many years and is in a very bad state. Please be careful.

In general: this scenic spot has nice scenery, but the transportation is very inconvenient, the facilities in the scenic spot are very old, the surrounding supporting facilities are not up to par, and it is difficult to find food and accommodation.

At the foot of the mountain, there is a pool of milky white water flowing down from the top of the mountain, which is very cool and icy. There are sounds of water all the way. When you go up the mountain, you will meet an old man guarding the mountain and a simple hut. When we first got to the mountain, the old man would come over to ask you to burn incense and wish you safety.

Baishuitai is actually quite good, with few people and unique scenery. However, the journey is long and the road is all mountainous and winding.

The Baishuitai scenic area is not very big, and the whole shape is like layers of terraces. Go in early in the morning to play for an hour, take photos, and come out to have breakfast in time. The ticket is 30 yuan.

It's a paradise on earth, but the road is bumpy and we took the wrong road. It's horrible to drive all the way from Lijiang!!!
