There is a plank road along the lakeside of Bitahai Lake. You can walk along the plank road to the lakeside dock. There are cruise ships in the lake, and you can tour the beautiful scenery around the lake. However, the Bitahai and Militang scenic areas of Pudacuo Park have been closed since April 2017, and you can only take a tour bus to see them from a distance. I was very glad that they were still open when I went there.

The longest tour time is about 2 to 3 hours. Since we spent a long time in Shudu Lake, the driver suggested that we take the bus to the main station and then go back to tour a short distance.

I went there in 2006. I was disappointed that the trail was closed this time. The scenery was really great. I was a little out of breath after walking 4.2 kilometers, but there were countless beautiful views. I hope friends who go there will ask in advance.

Bita Lake is famous for its rhododendron trees that cover the mountains. In May and June, when the rhododendrons bloom, the petals fall into the lake. When fish eat the slightly poisonous petals, they will be temporarily anesthetized and float to the surface with their stomachs turned upside down. This interesting phenomenon is called "drunk fish due to rhododendrons". It is said that at this time, old bears in the mountains will also take advantage of the night to catch the drunk fish, which is the legendary "old bear catching fish".

In April, there are neither blooming flowers nor rare animals in Pudacuo. All that is left are the greedy little squirrels.

The pine nuts I brought with me finally came in handy. There were few tourists in Pudacuo during this season, and even fewer people chose to hike on this 4.7km section of Bitahai.

So we started to "play" with the squirrels without restraint.

The "food" in Pudacuo must be very good. These little guys are all plump and round from eating so much, and they are much more skillful than me in peeling pine nuts.

At first, they were still alert. Every time they took a pine nut from us, they would run away, turn their backs and eat it, then come back to get it. Later, perhaps because they saw that we didn't hurt them, or perhaps because they thought it was troublesome to run back and forth, they would just stay in our hands and bodies until they were full.

I went there in winter, and the ground was covered with dead grass, which looked yellow.

Because a national protected animal was discovered, Bitahai Lake was closed and we could only look at it from afar from the observation deck. The viewing time was only about 10 minutes, which was not very interesting.

I went to Pudacuo in June. I didn’t catch the rhododendrons all over the mountain, but the green grass and blue sky were beautiful.

Although there are no azaleas in this season, October is always a harvest season, with golden colors and plants of various shapes, such as ink paintings.
