Shudu Lake belongs to Pudacuo National Park, located 35 kilometers northeast of Shangri-La and more than ten kilometers away from Bitahai. The lake water is clear and small fish swim leisurely at the bottom of the water. The most unique one is a rare fish called "schizothorax", which has a thin crack on its belly. The lake is surrounded by trees that cover the sky, and there is a pasture with herds of cattle and sheep by the lake, which is full of the life interest of Tibetan area.

Forgive me for coming here in winter. The ground is covered with diamond particles (snow particles), dazzling and holy. The lake is directly illuminated by the sun, and a thin layer of mist is rising. Yaks are still in the grass, and pigs are digging for food in the snow. The snow-capped mountains stand solemnly, unattainable, cold and holy. The lake is calm and beautiful. The wind blows with a whoosh, and all kinds of sounds suddenly arise. Now I am at the roots of the trees on the lake. I thought the lake god appeared, and then I was thinking or I met the soul of the lake by chance?

Shudu Lake is the first scenic spot, and there are three ways to view it. The first is to follow the bus to see it roughly, the second is to walk on the bridge over the lake, which takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes, and the third is to go about 500 meters forward and take a cruise to view the scenery.

Get on the bus at the parking lot, get off at the first stop at Shudu Lake, and start walking slowly along the plank road.

Take a scenic bus from the tourist center to Shudu Lake. The side that is not exposed to sunlight is covered with white snow. After getting off the bus, walk along the plank road around the lake. The shore of Shudu Lake is a famous pasture in Shangri-La, with vast grasslands and lush grass. Even in late autumn when the temperature is several degrees below zero, there are still herds of cattle and sheep roaming around the lake, and there are dotted pasture sheds on the lakeside, which is a very beautiful picture. However, you can only watch from a distance and not get close.

Maybe because two scenic spots were closed, or maybe I came at the wrong season, so my personal experience of Pudacuo was just the pure blue sky of Shudu Lake.

Shudu Lake, located in the embrace of Shangri-La, Diqing, is a plateau pearl at an altitude of 3,705 meters. It takes 20 minutes by sightseeing bus from the gate of the scenic area to reach Shudu Lake. You can walk and stop along the plank road in about an hour to complete the tour, which takes about 2 hours in total.

Shudu Lake Plank Road is located on the south bank of Shudu Lake. It is a wooden plank road, very flat, and does not require climbing up and down. The scenery of the first half of the plank road is a bit like a wetland, that is, a piece of green grass extending into the lake, but this piece of green grass actually grows in moist muddy land. In some places, there is more water flow, which will appear like a shallow stream. There are many small yellow, purple and blue flowers growing on the grass. And we also saw a large area of ​​"ox tongue grass", also known as "butter grass", its flowers are yellow. It is called ox tongue grass by the locals because the leaves are like the tongue of a cow. Legend has it that this is because the Bull Demon King offended a certain god, so the tongue was cut off and thrown into the mortal world, and it grew into ox tongue grass, and cows never eat ox tongue grass (the scientific explanation is that ox tongue grass is bitter, so cattle and sheep don't like to eat it). It is also called butter grass because local herdsmen use this leaf to wrap butter.

The second half of the plank road gradually enters the woods. The characteristic of the woods is the "bearded tree". Its scientific name is Usnea, and it only grows in places with good air quality.

In the woods, we encountered squirrels several times, and they were not very afraid of people.

This is a part of Pudacuo National Park. When I went there on May Day, only this part of the scenic area was open. I saw horses and yaks walking on the grass by the lake under the blue sky and white clouds, and little squirrels popping out from the woods by the lake from time to time.

Pudacuo and other places are more suitable for spring and summer. The primitive forests here in Shudu Lake are not as good as those in Yubeng.

It is a paradise on earth, you will never want to leave. There are pristine forests, alpine meadows, wetland lakes. Please do not stay too long, as altitude sickness is easy to occur in high-altitude areas.

I went there in winter, and although there were no azaleas, the reflection of the mountains and water on the lake was beautiful, and the panoramic view was even better.

Winter is quite bleak. If the dead trees all over the mountain are the highlight, then it is a full highlight. Only one of the three scenic spots is open. But even if the mountain is bleak, the blue sky and the blue lake still offer a different experience!

To get to Pudacuo, you need to walk 3.3 kilometers around Shudu Lake to see the clear lake water reflecting the mountains and white clouds.

There is a well-developed plank road on one side of Shudu Lake, which is about 3.5 kilometers long, and a dirt road in the mountains, which is about 3 kilometers long, on the other side. If you don't want to hike, you can take a boat tour.

To get to Shudu Lake, you need to take an eco-friendly bus, and you will arrive at the scenic spot in about half an hour. You can choose to walk the whole plank road or take a boat tour. Each of us bought a boat ticket, fifty-one people, and after entering, we found that there was no need to take a boat at all, which was a complete waste of money. The walking plank road can be completed in less than an hour, and there is no altitude sickness. Although it is very unpleasant to be cheated, it is not a waste of money. On the walking plank road, you can see many small squirrels, which are not afraid of people at all, very cute, and will eat things fed by tourists, but they are very picky. There are also many novel and strange plants, including a ginkgo tree king. The harmony between man and nature is vividly reflected here.

The scenery of Shudu Lake is very beautiful. Along the way, there are pigs and squirrels that are close to people, beautiful wild flowers, dead trees fallen in the lake, and wetland forests... The blue sky and white clouds are reflected in the lake.

Under the blue sky and white clouds, the mirror-like lake water stretches from the front to the distant mountains. Occasionally, a water bird flies over the water, leaving ripples. Usually, there is a huge schizothorax underwater that escaped the fate of being preyed on. The local Tibetans do not eat fish, so the fish in the lake are usually fat and free. Only a small number of water birds are their natural enemies. There are usually large meadows by the lake. In summer, the plateau meadows are full of thousands of flowers, colorful from the dense forest to the water's edge. Most of the trees are cedars of thirty to fifty meters, tall and straight, like soldiers standing by the lake. The oldest known cedar tree by the lake has experienced more than a thousand years of ups and downs. Whenever I face such an ancient life, I always feel a deep awe of nature.

Squirrels are the elves of this forest. They play and forage for food in giant trees that have stood for thousands of years or in saplings that are only one or two people tall. Perhaps because most tourists are friendly, the squirrels here are not afraid of people. You can always see them along the 3.4-kilometer plank road by the lake.

Walk all the way to the lake, where you can rent and sell ethnic costumes, as well as transparent hanging balls that you can pay to sit on and take photos. The scenery is beautiful, and you can stop and stay to feel the harmonious and ghostly beauty of nature. At that time of year, the color stratification of vegetation was not obvious, and you could only slightly see the depth of the color.

Since there are many pine trees in the park, the chances of squirrels appearing are very high, and you can see these cute little guys along the hiking trail.

There is only one Shudu Lake in Pudacuo. Overall, I feel that it is beautiful but not amazing. It feels like a wetland park, but it is rare in such a high altitude.

While walking, you can see many alpine ornamental flowers and meadow plants, including rhododendrons, primroses, Ranunculaceae, Polygonaceae, etc., as well as local specialty species such as Usnea and Rheum bracteata, and squirrels.

The last eco-friendly bus returning to the end of the plank road is around 5:50.

I heard that this is the place where Po Jie and Run Tu made their vows (wedding). All the people who were breathing oxygen along the way were young people, and the elderly were walking briskly~

You can walk to Shudu Lake, which is about 3 kilometers, or you can take a boat! We chose to take a boat for 50 yuan per person, but later we found that it was equivalent to 100 yuan for the two of us to charter a boat...

When the boat arrives at the dock, there is a shuttle bus. We took the bus back to the entrance of Pudacuo National Park. How can I describe it? I didn’t feel the beauty of Shudu Lake... What was more amazing and interesting was that the mountain road leading into the scenic area was very beautiful...

Why is there beauty everywhere? This is only Shudu Lake. Would it be more beautiful if we could go to Bita Lake? And the flowering period is over, otherwise it would definitely be more beautiful!

In Pudacuo Forest Park, it is very beautiful, clean and clear. When the fog gradually dissipates, it is like a fairyland. It is worth staying here and slowly enjoying the beautiful scenery.

After passing the commercial street, you can see the entrance to Pudacuo National Park. We walked in after checking our tickets. There were few people and we didn't have to queue up. We got on the sightseeing bus directly.

Along the way, I saw a wild golden pheasant, or maybe a red-bellied horned pheasant. It was a bit far away, so I couldn't be sure what species it was, but just seeing its gorgeous and ever-changing colored feathers was enough to make me ecstatic.

As you drive along, you will see strands of green flocs hanging on the branches of the pine trees in Pudacuo. According to the radio in the car, the scientific name of these "beard-like" things is Usnea, a low-level plant in which algae and fungi coexist. They grow on tall trees, forming a harmonious natural landscape. In addition, the growth of Usnea requires extremely high air quality and can only survive in extremely pure air. It is called a natural air monitor. So this also shows that the forest in Pudacuo is well preserved in its original state.

The sightseeing bus arrived at the station soon after watching and listening. The first stop was Shudu Lake, which was about 3.3 kilometers long.

Trees growing in the forest reach their growth limit and die, collapsing due to wind or snow pressure. After the trees fall, fungi, lichens, mosses and azalea seedlings will grow on the rotting wood. Eventually, the entire dead tree is decomposed by microorganisms into inorganic substances such as carbon dioxide and water and returned to nature. There are many examples of natural ecological succession in Pudacuo Park. The old trees that died naturally seem to be telling the vicissitudes of the past thousands of years.

It was still early when we arrived at Shudu Lake and the fog had not yet dispersed, so there was a layer of fog on the surface of the lake and we could hardly see anything.
