Sifang Listening Square, located in Shuhe Ancient Town, resembles Sifang Street in Lijiang Old Town. It's based on the traditional Naxi "Sifang Street" layout, integrating the culture of the ancient Tea-Horse Road caravans with modern soundscape design. The square's center is paved with a Bagua pattern inlaid with black and white pebbles, surrounded by two-story wooden Naxi dwellings. To the east, an ancient stage regularly showcases intangible cultural heritage performances, including Naxi ancient music and Baishaxi music. Thirty-six sensor-activated bronze horse bells are hidden in the ground, triggering the distinctive sound of the Tea-Horse Road. A surround sound system plays natural water sounds and ancient music. To the north of the square, the remains of a Ming Dynasty Sifang Tea Pavilion remain, featuring an interactive water trough speaker system that recreates the trading scene of the Tea-Horse Trade era. Perhaps I visited at the wrong time; there were no activities or music, and the square was virtually deserted.

Sifang Tingyin takes its name from the traditional "Sifang Street." Every year, major Shuhe events, such as the Snow Mountain Music Festival, Qixi Festival, model competitions, Naxi ancient music performances, bonfire parties, and various cultural performances, are held here, making it one of Shuhe Ancient Town's most important venues. Sifang Tingyin is the core area of the Shuhe Ancient Town Tea Horse Inn and the cultural center of the Shuhe Ancient Town scenic area. To the west, a stage showcases the songs and dances of the various ethnic minorities along the Ancient Tea Horse Road. The opening ceremonies for numerous TV series have been held here.

Sifang Tingyin Square is located in a relatively remote corner of Shuhe Ancient Town and was an ancient stage.

Sifang Tingyin Square is located in the south of Shuhe Ancient Town. The four characters "Sifang Tingyin" on the gate are large. "Sifang" is a pun, referring to "Sifang Street", but also means "all directions and all rivers are open to all." The square is very lively at night, with bonfire parties at night and singing and dancing performances during the day. It is the main gathering place for local people to gather and have fun. I happened to see the end of a performance when I went there.

Sifang Tingyin Square is located in the center of Shuhe Ancient Town and has beautiful music. Unfortunately, I don't know how to record with my phone, which is a pity.

The Sifang Tingyin Square in Shuhe Ancient Town is quite large, with a pebbled floor, suitable for dancing and holding activities.

By MILO |

A small scenic spot in Shuhe Ancient Town, near the main gate of Shuhe, there are scheduled performances every day, nothing special, just like the stage in an ordinary village.

By Dali is Bangni |

During the day, there are performances by veteran artists, who play melodious Naxi music on traditional instruments. The lively music makes the square, which is sparsely populated in winter, even more tranquil.

By abelabel |

It should be considered the largest square in Shuhe Ancient Town.

By Big Hae Walking |

The Sifang Tingyin Square in Shuhe is not as popular as the Sifang Street in Lijiang Ancient Town. There were almost no people there when I went there, perhaps because it was the off-season.

By xiehanzh |

If the ancient Sifang Street is a traditional market, then the modern "Sifang Tingyin" is the cultural square of the ancient town, where people gather and art is exchanged. It is said that there are performances during festivals.

The square is very lively at night, with bonfire parties at night and singing and dancing performances during the day. It is the main gathering place for local people to carry out activities and entertainment.

I went there in January. Because it was cold, there were almost no people in the square before the show started. But when the music started, people gathered together.

The bonfire party at Sifang Tingyin Square was held from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and it felt like square dancing here. We went there just for the fun, with no sense of rhythm and our hands and feet moving in unison.

The lead dancer is so handsome hahahaha

Shuhe's Sifang Tingyin Square is worthy of its name. There are national song and dance performances here every day, which is very good.

I heard that this place is more lively at night, with singing and dancing performances, but we didn’t see any when we went there during the day.

By Chek Lap Kok |

Do you want to go square dancing? If so, go ahead. It's just a small square. I heard it would be more lively if there are activities.

It is amazing to have such a large square in the ancient town. One can imagine the scene of people singing and dancing to their heart's content at night.

On the south side of Shuhe Ancient Town, the four characters "Sifang Tingyin" are written in large letters on the gate tower. "Sifang" is a pun, which is derived from "Sifang Street", and it also has the literal meaning of "all directions and embracing all rivers".

Sifang Tingyin Square is located in the south of Shuhe Ancient Town. The four characters "Sifang Tingyin" on the gate tower are very large.

By Coco on the road |

The square is located not far from the entrance to the ancient city and is quite spacious. Shops and snack bars are scattered around the square. There are plenty of stone and wooden benches for relaxing. I visited during the day, but I imagine it would be bustling with activity at night, as it becomes an open-air performance venue.

By FightGUnz |

Fortunately, it is a commercial street with less commercial atmosphere. It is interesting.

This is probably the Shuhe Center. I didn't see any performances here during the day, but after walking around, I could still see the iconic buildings and know the way.

What makes it different from all the other ancient towns is the bonfire party! Leading everyone to dance together, tourists will spontaneously participate, which is particularly contagious.

By Brother Xiqi |

An open area in Shuhe Ancient Town has now become a performance venue for Naxi ancient music, so it is named after the meaning of "listening to music from all directions".

It's just a square, and there are usually some performances and shows at night.

By Moon-gazing Dust |

I recommend this place because of its name - Sifang Tingyin. The ancients said that the eyes should watch the six directions and the ears should listen to the eight directions. Here, only the four directions are mentioned, which also reveals such a spiritual energy.

Sifang Tingyin Square is located south of Shuhe Ancient Town, facing Sifang Street from north to south. Its most eye-catching feature is the stage in the center. It's said that during traditional Naxi festivals, grand events are held here. During the day, it's a small square, but at night, people dressed in traditional Naxi costumes sing and dance around the bonfire...

By Duoduo Xiaojiajia |

This is a small square with occasional performances, but it becomes quite lively at night. There is a bonfire and you can watch the Naxi people, a minority ethnic group, dancing in their own ethnic costumes, feeling their sincerity and enthusiasm. Watching them will make you forget many of your worries, truly integrating into their lives and feeling their simple and unpretentious attitude towards life. Occasionally, they will invite tourists to join their dance group, which is very interesting!

This is the stage on Sifang Street in Shuhe Ancient Town. There is nothing special about it. It is just a local feature.

By Invincible Little Shuke |

There's nothing special about it. Just a square and a building. Maybe it's the wrong time and there's nothing to listen to.

By Yi Yi |

Because the time was a bit short, I only walked around Sifang Tingyin Square.

By It's Ding Ding Cat Hero |

The weather was beautiful during our two days in Shuhe. One day, I went to Sifang Street Music Square, but it seemed like some event had just ended. Haha, what a shame! I love Shuhe. I love strolling slowly through the streets. When I get tired, I stop and sit on the stone steps, looking up at the blue sky and white clouds, listening to the various bars on the second floor and the singers quietly singing. He looked at us looking at him and said, "Come up and sit down." We smiled and shook our heads at him. I really like this feeling: quiet, without thinking, quietly feeling the beauty of the world.

On our last day in Shuhe, we happened to catch a bonfire dance at Tingyin Square. The party began with young men and women dressed in local folk costumes lighting a bonfire, then dancing to the music. As the crowd grew, the women began changing their dance formations, forming a large circle and inviting visitors to join in. Everyone danced enthusiastically, following the upbeat music and completely immersed in the joyful atmosphere. It was a perfect end to my mother's and my trip to Yunnan.

At the foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain lies a thousand-year-old ancient town, the World Cultural Heritage Site of Lijiang Shuhe Ancient Town. In the center of the town lies a square street, with a tall building facing west and east. Atop the building hangs a plaque with four powerful characters: "Four Directions Listening to Music."

Every time I visit Shuhe and see these four characters, I, like countless other tourists, am captivated by the ancient Naxi Kingdom and sing praises to our ancestors for creating such a splendid culture.

Shuhe once had a glorious history. As a key town on the Ancient Tea-Horse Road, the sound of horse bells still echoes through the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The footprints and hoof prints of countless merchants are forever etched into the stone slabs, forming a scene like "Along the River During the Qingming Festival" on the northwestern Yunnan plateau. These are the stories and sounds of the Ancient Tea-Horse Road left by my grandfather.

By elder brother |

There is a bonfire here at night, and the atmosphere is very good. If you find out the time for bonfire jumping, come here, otherwise it would be a waste of your trip to Lijiang. Although we are all strangers, even if we are all strangers, the moment of bonfire jumping is close to our hearts. The photo was taken when I first came to Lijiang at the beginning of the school year, probably in September

Sifang Tingyin Square is a landmark attraction in Shuhe, located near the entrance to the ancient town, making it the heart of the area. Occasionally, there's a stage for performances, but the surrounding area is mostly filled with shops selling similar souvenirs, which are uninteresting. There's also a snack street, which is rather commercialized and lacks the original charm of the ancient town.

By Wannueng. |

A music festival with national characteristics. Although I am not a literary youth, I still think it is quite good.

By Lingtai Orchid Room |

At night, a large group of people, including Naxi people, Shuhe people, and tourists, held hands and gathered in layers around the huge bonfire in the middle of Sifang Tingyin Square, singing, dancing, and roaring to the emotional and romantic music! After dancing, I looked like this~ So tired and hot, but so happy! Haha

By The Smiling, Proud Wanderer |

By A Gu |

During the day, there were Naxi and Tibetan folk song and dance performances. The atmosphere was great, there were some great performers, and best of all, it was free!! At night, many people gathered around the bonfire to sing and dance. It was so joyful!

I just happened to come across this place while walking around the ancient town. It feels like a building + a small square, special but not too special. There will be a bonfire party or something here at night, and there are a lot of dry firewood in the middle.

By grasses |

Except for Monday, there is a bonfire party here at 8 o'clock every night. It is very lively and recommended!

By Kouby next door |

A good place to dance square dance after dinner, quite lively

By Look up and smile |

At eight o'clock in the evening, the Sifang Tingyin Square began to bustle with activity. Whether it was a bonfire party or a series of square dances, I felt the great tolerance of the Naxi people.

By An Qi |

There are performances here every day, which is suitable for watching and listening. The bonfire party in the evening is spontaneous and free.

By Bo Linxuan |

You can dance with the locals and experience square dancing, haha

By The Adventures of Tintin |

This place is famous because it is the only large square in Shuhe. The most important reason is that the TV series "Dragon Gate Escort" was once filmed here to learn from the masters. The filming was also done in a nearby village. I went to the filming site to watch them filming. It was really hard work.

By GlacierW |

Many years have passed... but I still remember the bonfire that night clearly...

By eky1117 |

It's in front of a square. In the evening, there's square dancing, and everyone can dance together. It's quite simple, with local performers dancing together. First, they dance by themselves. Then everyone can dance together, but the atmosphere is average. First, the performers all have dull faces, which is unnatural and seems like they're just doing their job, so we didn't feel comfortable dancing there. Also, none of my friends like to dance. Dancing alone is boring, and this is when everyone lets go and it's fun to dance together. They light a bonfire before it gets dark and start dancing, and it's basically over as soon as it gets dark.

By Trace of the Sky |

The word "Sifang" is a pun, referring to "Sifang Street," and also literally means "all directions, embracing all rivers." "Sifang Tingyin" also reflects the Naxi people's open-mindedness to listen to sounds from all directions, absorbing the essence of world culture and embracing all ethnic groups. This ancient town has become a nationally renowned cultural destination.

By Lu Wenwen |

The square is quite unique, the scenery next to it is ok, and it is quite quiet.

By Sui Chuner~~ |

This is the central square of Shuhe. There seem to be performances at fixed times every day.

By I like short hair. |
