Sun Palace Art Space

太阳宫艺术空间

Located at the very top of Yuji Island, this four-story building, with floor-to-ceiling glass windows, is stunning. Listening to the waves and gazing at the Cangshan Mountains is a truly relaxing experience! However, Sun Palace is a private residence, accommodating only guests.

Looking in through the glass door from the outside, you can still see the magnificent appearance of this hotel that was once carefully built. If you have enough time and patience, you can walk to different angles and see different corners of the hotel. We saw the interior of the hotel, some rooms, and the terrace. The most shocking thing was the terrace of the hotel, which was built on the reef beach of Erhai Lake, and you can get in touch with Erhai Lake at the closest distance. Although the hotel is prohibited from accepting guests, I think someone still takes care of the hotel on a regular basis, because the trees on the terrace, the white beds and the curtains are all tidied up.

Yang Liping's Sun Palace is next to Qinglu. This area is full of upscale guesthouses and inns. While the location is unique and advantageous, be warned that getting around isn't as convenient as the roadside inns! The entrance is indeed narrow and winding, making it difficult to find. There's an entrance fee to see Yang Liping's Sun Palace Hotel, but since I was in a hurry, I paid without hesitation. Inside, quite a few tourists were dominating my spot, taking photos and selfies of the Sun Palace from all angles. The path inside is quite winding and dangerous, made up of bizarrely shaped rocks. The path is narrow, and there's a small rocky observation deck where many young tourists sit on the railings, absorbed in taking photos with Erhai Lake. This made it difficult for those following behind to pass. Of course, being there in person is far more beautiful, awe-inspiring, and authentic than a photo. The camera's image is so limited, but the feeling of being surrounded by the entire environment is definitely not the same satisfaction and joy that a single shot can bring. Under the vast sky, white clouds, and by the shores of Erhai Lake, I rode alone for a thousand miles, all the way to Dali. Truly, if you have the chance, go and see it, and experience it. Surrounding the Sun Palace are winding gardens, with a viewing platform accessible to guests. If you're interested, you can see some of the photos guests have taken from this viewing platform in their booking information. Of course, if you're wealthy enough, I recommend booking a reservation to experience it. Since it's so rare to come here, of course, you should explore every corner accessible to tourists.

I've seen many beautiful photos, but when I got there I realized I could only admire it from a distance.

By Yiu👀 |

I was tricked into paying 100 yuan for a cup of coffee, and the experience was terrible.

By Manyu Engineering |

It can be used as a tourist attraction and reclaimed by the government. As an artist receiving government subsidies, one should have moral integrity.

By DrZou |

I spent 10 yuan to go to Yuji Island and see the panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows. I finally understood why Yang Liping chose this place.

By Kindergarten children |

Just like the Moon Palace, you can only see the outside, not the inside.

By Califer Nature |

I think there is no need to go to the east coast of Erhai Lake!!!

By mewkuma |

You can't see the whole picture from the outside, and it doesn't look very good. If you want to go in and spend money, you can go in and visit.

By JoJo Jiang |

Next to the Moon Palace, it belongs to Yang Liping. It seems that reservations must be made three to six months in advance.

By Yuexiang |

The Sun Palace and the Moon Palace are next to each other, and next to them is Zhao Qing's Qinglu, which almost occupies the best location on Yuji Island. These three palace-style buildings are all designed by Zhao Qing, a painter who is said to be very picky about the guests staying in the hotel. The full Zen feeling can be said to be the essence of the three buildings. Among them, the Moon Palace is Yang Liping's private residence. There are many rules in Qinglu. Perhaps the only one that can be a little more unrestrained is the Sun Palace. After all, the guests who come here mostly yearn for this tranquility.

By 🐈 |

The Sun Palace is open to the public and requires payment to enter, with a minimum payment of 100.

By Li Lianghu |

See the Moon Palace for details. You can see it on Fengqing Island. You can watch the famous actor Peacock Dance for free through the telescope. You can't see it most of the time.

By Miss Piaopiao |

The Sun Palace is Yang Liping’s residence. The locals have cordoned off this area and you need to pay a ticket to enter. But in fact, you can only look at it from the side and you are not allowed to go in at all, so it’s really boring!!!

By Qashqai |

I'm not from Yunnan, I'm not a dance enthusiast, and I'm not even a relative of Yang Liping. While I do love art, I'm just an ordinary passerby. I visited the Sun Palace two years ago, and I want to say this: Because of the Sun Palace, Shuanglang Town has become incredibly popular! Because of Yang Liping, Shuanglang tourism has become richer and more vibrant! It's been enriched with new energy, new cultural understanding, and new interpretations! I support environmental protection, and now, if the Sun Palace is being closed down solely for environmental protection, then why aren't its emissions figures made public? If they're zero, what justification do you have for closing down a home with all the necessary permits? Yang Liping, a dance prodigy, her name must be etched in the annals of cultural history! A century from now, the former residence of such an exceptional artist should be designated a national cultural heritage site and protected! Other government departments can just go along with the formalities, but the Dali Municipal Government and Shuanglang Town Government should fully understand the crucial role this building has played in the development of local tourism. If you're not afraid of losing your jobs, you should protect this cultural building just as you would the government compound! It feels like they're "discarding the donkey after it's done with its work" to me! As an outsider it's a bit disheartening.

The Sun Palace gave us mortals the opportunity to get close to Yang Liping. Even if we couldn't see her, standing on the same land and looking at the same sea was enough to attract everyone. It is said that before it was closed, the room rate at the Sun Palace was 2,000 to 3,000 yuan, and reservations were made more than a month in advance.

By KateKate |

Although it is open to the general public, I heard that there are strict admission standards and selection of guests. Wow, it's a world of the rich.

By Xiangmeizai |

The Sun Palace has become a paid tourist attraction in Dali. We have no interest in it and just want to take a look at it from a distance.

By Cosmos |

Surrounded by water on three sides, Yang Liping's hotel, the Sun Palace, isn't cheap. A night at the hotel requires reservations months in advance, and costs 4,000 to 5,000 yuan per night, as there are only seven rooms. During peak season, the price can reach 9,800 yuan per night.

Everyone knows this place, where Yang Liping is located. The location is super good and the scenery is super good. It is in Shuanglang Ancient Town.

The Yang Liping Art Hotel, also known as the "Sun Palace," was once Yang Liping's "temporary palace" in Shuanglang, igniting the market for sea view rooms in the area. Its striking exterior, constructed from rock, blends seamlessly with the natural surroundings. The interior design is imbued with local Yunnan flair and Yang Liping's distinct personal style, with striking and bold colors. Even the rock formations are incorporated into the rooms, becoming a feature of the landscape. The afternoon tea on the waterfront terrace, steeped in local flavor, is a perfect way for non-residents to experience the hotel's atmosphere.

Besides accommodation, there are several ways to explore the hotel.

1. Visit the exterior

Upon arriving at Yuji Island, there's a "Yang Liping Art Museum" at the entrance, but it's not yet open. Beyond the ticket gate, there are numerous shops and restaurants, some of which are quite stylish. The famous dessert shop "Tian Shi Yang" is also on the island. The "Sun Palace" offers the best sea views on Yuji Island. If you're not a guest at a hotel or B&B on the island, you must purchase a ticket to enter, which primarily allows you to see the exterior of the building. The route is very short and challenging, with many uneven rock steps and a "slit in the sky" that can be challenging for taller guests. To truly appreciate it, you still need to enter the hotel. However, the ticket is very cheap, at ten yuan, primarily to pay for the tour guides.

two:

Another option is to stay at a hotel under the "Qianli Zoudanqi" group, which offers the opportunity to visit between different hotels. (The Sun Palace is currently managed by this group.) However, this depends on the coordination between the hotels, and rooms may not be accessible for viewing, depending on occupancy.

three:

The last method is to go to the Sun Palace to experience Yang Liping's afternoon tea. On the only water-friendly platform visible to tourists in the Sun Palace, lazy tents and floor couches are built with brightly colored cushions. Whether in dance art or living life, Yang Liping pays attention to integration with nature. Therefore, yogurt is beautifully placed on the edge of the rock, and fruit snacks are exquisitely plated and placed on the stalls. You can dine in the sun while looking at the water. But the price is rising day by day, and recently it is about 400. Because I met a Shanghai beauty who is also good at dancing on the way, I was able to experience the beauty of the Sun Palace afternoon tea. However, it is mainly to appreciate the beautiful scenery and imagine the style of the host, rather than a typical food tour.

By Junshi Base |

I really want to stay here for one night, but I heard that the hotel only has a few rooms, so I guess I won’t be able to stay here in this lifetime!!!

Yang Liping's homestay is open to the public and requires a boat to enter. Very cool

By Sheila Yu |

The hotel has a strong artistic atmosphere and a great location, offering panoramic views of Cangshan Mountain and Erhai Lake. Unfortunately, the service doesn't live up to its star rating. Besides being a bit lacking in hospitality, the hotel also doesn't offer small gifts unless requested. The hotel has become a tourist attraction thanks to Yang Liping, so there are always various tour groups intruding...

By Levy Ou Deli |

Don't go to such meaningless places too deliberately.

By milow |

The only words to describe this kind of tourist attraction are "cool, awesome, and awesome." Their house is built on a tree, by the sea, and surrounded by mountains! It's great to have both money and nostalgia.

By Lovely you |

The hotel is run by Yang Liping. You must take the hotel's cruise ship to stay in the hotel. There is a leisure platform overlooking the sea in front of the hotel. The hotel has sea view rooms, but the price is a bit high.

By Mo and Qingyou |

This place is famous because of Yang Liping. You are not allowed to visit if you don't live there.

By Living in Edinburgh |

The exterior looks good, but I don't know how the service is inside. By the river, I saw a rich man proposing to a beautiful girl with flowers.

By Nanshan Bianzi |

The price is around 5,000. Tourists are not allowed to visit. If you have enough money, you can stay there for a night. You may meet Yang Liping.

By Aran |

The hotel is quite unique, but a little expensive. I would stay there for one night if I had the chance.

By Recreation |

Yuji Island gathers the essence of Cang Er scenery and is known as the "No. 1 Village of Cang Er Scenic Spots". No wonder Yang Liping's villas "Sun Palace" and "Moon Palace" were built here. Now the "Sun Palace" is open to the public, and the "Moon Palace" is a private residence built on the mountain. Its appearance is like a half moon rising from the sea. The design is unique.

By Qingqing shouts |

I can't remember when I first learned of the Sun Palace's existence, but I've passed it countless times, as if our encounter was destined, and everything seemed so natural. One meter across the sea, in the sunlight, it's built around a century-old green tree. Inside, you can always feel the ethereal artistic realm, a place washed clean of all worldly desires, a return to nature. Someone once lamented, perhaps staying here for one night would make life perfect.

By Mr. Liu's Mumu girl |

The Sun Palace is a hotel and is not open to the public. According to the tour guide, when we went there, Yang Liping was in the Moon Palace next door and asked us not to make any noise.

By susan |

Dance lovers are no strangers to Yang Liping, who invested in a private villa in Shuanglang called the Sun Palace. Her sister owns one called the Moon Palace. I've heard that even the most affluent can't afford to stay there, costing over a thousand yuan a night, and nearly 11,000 yuan a night during the Spring Festival. Wealthy friends can try to book a room there.

By Jijiu Meier |

The Sun Palace is as famous as the Moon Palace, and both are Yang Liping's accommodations in Dali. The Sun Palace is now open to the public, and I heard that the price of accommodation ranges from 3,000 to 5,000 yuan on weekdays, and more than 6,000 yuan during the Spring Festival. The rooms are sold out long before the Spring Festival.

By Joyce☕ |

Entrance to Yuji Island costs 10 yuan, but the Sun Palace and Moon Palace were truly stunning, exceeding my expectations! The architecture is a perfect blend of modern style and traditional local dwellings, making excellent use of the local terrain, plants, and sunlight. Absolutely stunning! Highly recommended.

By Emily🌻 |

This should be the most worth-seeing place in Shuanglang. The overall scenery is still great, but the environmental protection work is too average. There is garbage everywhere on the roadside. On this point, the Yunnan Tourism Bureau needs to learn more from the Sichuan Tourism Bureau.

By An Xiaonier |

On Yuji Island, the toll is ten yuan per person during the day, but no one is on duty at night. Actually, before the toll gate, there's a narrow alley that leads to the island, free of charge. There's not much to see on the island, except for Yang Liping's "A Thousand Miles Alone" and the Qinglu (Green House), which are incredibly luxurious. There's also the Yuji Nunnery. Don't go if you don't want to pay; it's not interesting and you can't afford to stay there, haha.

By Pisces without fighting |

In Shuanglang fishing village, where Yang Liping grew up, if you want to know more about Yang Liping and local culture, go and have a look. It is built on the seaside and has a nice view.

Shuanglang Town seems to be more famous than it actually is. It is okay that Yang Liping has supported it. The actual scenery is also good, but it must be at its best when there is blue sky and white clouds.

By Good times will come after bad times |

It is not recommended to go there. It costs 10 yuan. The road is not easy to walk and you can only see some guests staying in the side.

Overall it's pretty good. It has a unique city flavor.

By Big Bay Shrimp |

Yang Liping's Sun Palace and Moon Palace are on Yuji Island. The sea view is first-class and the architecture is very unique, but you have to pay to walk around the house and visit, which is not ideal.

By Chen Xiaomu |

This is a very high-end hotel, of course the master's hand is amazing. I saw a set of photos from the interview and changed my schedule to go see it. It is true that without money, you can't enjoy such high-end things.

Part of Yang Liping's villa has now been turned into a hotel. The entire hotel faces the sea, with spring flowers blooming, and the entire atmosphere is full of artistic sense. Ordinary tourists are not allowed to enter because it is private property, but the view from a distance is also beautiful.

By nirvana |

If I have to give an evaluation of this place, I can only say that there is no eternal Sun Palace, only eternal Peacock Dance and eternal Yang Liping.

By Travel the world |

It is said that this was originally Yang Liping's villa, which was later sold. Later, with the development of tourism in Shuanglang, Yang Liping bought it back and turned it into a hotel. The decoration is very good. I especially like the sofa on the balcony.

By Small mushrooms basking in the sun |

Nestled on Yuji Island in Shuanglang, Dali, in the sunlight just one meter across the sea, and built around a century-old elm tree, it rivals the wonders of the Pagoda Tree. Sometimes, I inexplicably feel that a home is an outward reflection of one's inner world; living in a beloved home is, in essence, living within one's own heart. It's fair to say that the Sun Palace opens a door to the inner world and artistic world of a dancing spirit. Inside, one can constantly experience an ethereal artistic realm, a pure and simple return to nature.

By Mushroom Loves Travel |

In the afternoon, we headed to Yuji Island to visit the exteriors of the Moon Palace, Sun Palace, and Qinglu. (The Moon Palace is Yang Liping's private residence and is closed to the public; the Sun Palace is off-limits to non-residents; the Qinglu requires payment.) These three inns arguably represent the pinnacle of Yuji Island innkeeping. Take a look at the exterior photos and let your imagination run wild. The roads on Yuji Island are quite narrow, and during peak season, the crowds are likely to be crowded. The scenery isn't worth savoring unless you're in it. Just wander around. http://www.mafengwo.cn/i/5347683.html

By It won't rain today |

The Moon Palace and the Sun Palace are both Yang Liping's hotels. On Yuji Island, you have to pay an entrance fee to see the outer walls. It feels like Yuji Island is hers.

The scenery is definitely nice when you live there, you can watch the sunrise and sunset, but as a commoner, the cost performance is not very high

By Aries dream. |

It's truly the palace of the renowned artist Yang Liping. It's simply... so luxurious and stunning! There's a spot on Yuji Island where you can see the sunrise over the Sun Palace. It feels like an ancient imperial palace. I can understand why the property prices are so high.

Sun Palace is a hotel located on Yuji Island in Shuanglang, Dali.

By missbear |

This hotel is already very commercialized, with a closed-door atmosphere. Its location at the very end makes it a great spot to view Erhai Lake and watch the sunset and sunrise. Since we weren't staying here, we just walked around the perimeter. Every room had its curtains closed, which was a shame for the unique view. Overall, I wouldn't choose it. If you have the money and want to connect with Yang Liping's artistic side, it's worth a try.

The area boasts a crisscrossing landscape, fascinating legends, and each scenic spot evokes a moving story, a sense of wonder and mystery. With its unique geographical advantages and rich ethnic customs, the area is known as the "Top Scenic Town of Cang Er."
