From upstream to downstream, Tiger Leaping Gorge is divided into three sections: Upper Tiger Leaping, Middle Tiger Leaping, and Lower Tiger Leaping. Upper Tiger Leaping, located on the riverbank and at a relatively low altitude, is a mature tourist area and the place where most tourists check in at Tiger Leaping Gorge.

A two-hour hike from the highway to the riverbank is the most popular stop at Tiger Leaping Gorge.

For adrenaline junkies, head to Zhonghutiao. According to online guides, Zhonghutiao in Shangri-La is a tourist attraction developed by villagers from two natural villages, separated by Shenzhou Bridge (Mr. Zhang's Path and the Tianti Plank Road). The narrow path, built by them, requires a toll and is flanked by wire railings. It's quite dangerous, with slopes ranging from 30 to 80 degrees. If you get into trouble, you're solely responsible; safety is not guaranteed. The journey is long, from the highway to the river, and the climb up and down takes 2 to 3 hours, with a total elevation gain of about 300 to 400 meters.

It was really hard to go up and down. I was so tired. There were so many people and stairs.

When we returned to Lijiang from Shangri-La, we went to Tiger Leaping Gorge, also known as Upper Tiger Leaping Gorge, for a tour.

The path down the mountain was smooth, and there was even an elevator under construction not far away. The river was no longer turbulent, with only a few waves near Tiger Leaping Rock. Compared to my last visit, this one was far less impressive and exciting. However, Tiger Leaping Gorge in winter also has a great advantage: it's quiet and peaceful.

The upper part of Tiger Leaping Gorge has very nice scenery and is worth a visit.

The scenery of the Upper Tiger Leaping Gorge is quite magnificent and there are many people. If you are interested, you can also go hiking in the Middle and Lower Tiger Leaping Gorge.

It's not the right time to go, the water is not big enough. I recommend going in July or August, when the water is majestic and the scene is spectacular.

We went to Upper Tiger Leaping Gorge, the only developed section. Tickets cost 65 yuan, and there's a plank road leading down to the river. From there, you can get a close-up look at the majesty of Tiger Leaping Gorge. The sound of the river crashing against the rocks is truly breathtaking! If Lijiang Old Town is a glass of sake, then Tiger Leaping Gorge is a strong whiskey. "Hell on the inside, heaven on the inside" is the perfect description. It's incredibly thrilling, and you have to be there to experience its awe-inspiring spectacle.

My friend and I boarded a minibus from the bus station to Tiger Leaping Gorge. The fare was 24 yuan per person. After a two- to three-hour drive from Lijiang, we arrived at Upper Tiger Leaping Gorge.

The tourism development at Upper Tiger Leaping Gorge is quite complete. There are stone steps leading down from the cliff to the bottom of the canyon. Going up and down the stone steps was a bit tiring for us.

One of the deepest canyons in China, it is divided into three sections: upper, middle and lower. It is famous for its grandeur, strangeness, danger and beauty. Now only the upper section is open, crossing the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and Haba Snow Mountain.

There is a big rock in the middle of the canyon at Shanghutiao, which is said to be a skull transformed. It makes the water flow more turbulent and surging. Well, why do I feel like jumping in after looking at it for a long time? There is a story introduction next to Shanghutiao, which tells about the hero who successfully rafted the Yangtze River. He sacrificed himself for the honor of the country, but he also achieved ultimate success.

Tiger Leaping Gorge is divided into three sections: Upper Tiger Leaping, Middle Tiger Leaping, and Lower Tiger Leaping. Some outdoor enthusiasts devote a full day to hiking all three sections, packing their backpacks and using trekking poles. Since we were traveling with a tour group, our guide only took us to Upper Tiger Leaping, the least challenging section of the three, nicknamed "Senior Citizens' Activity Center." However, in the center of Upper Tiger Leaping, a 13-meter-high rock—Tiger Leaping Rock—occurs. The collision between the river current and the rock creates a truly impressive scene. While the challenge is minimal, the force is certainly not to be underestimated.

It's spectacular, but it's also really hot. You need to walk along the plank road for a while to reach the edge of the canyon. When you climb up, you climb the stairs until you want to die, but you finally climb up. You can take a sedan chair to be carried up, it depends on your personal situation.

As soon as I stepped off the train, a gust of wind blew in my face. It was no exaggeration to say it was fierce. Walking on the platform was difficult. The wind was accompanied by a chilly air that made me feel haggard.

The mountain road is very narrow, leaning against the mountain on one side and connecting to a deep valley on the other. The road is full of gravel and potholes, so you have to be careful and take every step carefully. Falling or stepping on something is no joke.

Coming down the mountain, the narrow mountain road was blocked by a simple fence, and the toll was 10 yuan. After paying the fee, the other side of the fence was the bottom of the Middle Tiger Leaping Gorge.

Maybe there is not much water in the river in winter, and the shallows that should have been submerged in the water are exposed to the surface due to the accumulation of flowing water, covered with messy gravel and smiling fine sand.

Tiger Leaping Gorge was sparsely populated in January. Throughout the hike, I saw more foreigners than Chinese, and many of the roadside inns were closed. But this, in turn, made me enjoy the desolate feeling all the more. Tiger Leaping Gorge was my first time hiking, and I never imagined then that I would fall in love with it.

There might not be much water when I went to Tiger Leaping Gorge in April, but it was already very magnificent. The bridge opposite is the Shangri-La Scenic Area in Lijiang. The Tiger Leaping Gorge is the boundary, with Shangri-La on one side and Lijiang on the other. However, the Tiger Leaping Gorge Scenic Area in Lijiang should not be open, and I didn't see anyone on the opposite side.

I recommend bringing your own food to Tiger Leaping Gorge, as there's nothing to eat there. Also, the winds are quite strong in Tiger Leaping Gorge, making it a bit chilly. It's best to bring a jacket.

Tiger Leaping Gorge is divided into Upper, Middle and Lower Tiger Leaping Gorges. Most tourists go to Upper Tiger Leaping Gorge because it is developed and has a wooden plank road going down, so it is not too tiring. However, we still had a hard time climbing it.

Tiger Leaping Gorge is shared by Lijiang and Diqing. To visit Tiger Leaping Gorge, you can hike from Lijiang to the side with the trail, or take a car from Diqing.

Tiger Leaping Gorge is very shocking and is the only way from Lijiang to Shangri-La.

Today, we're returning to Kunming from Shangri-La. On the way back, we'll visit Tiger Leaping Gorge. Known for its dangerous terrain, Tiger Leaping Gorge is one of China's deepest gorges. The gorge is divided into two sections: Shangri-La and Lijiang. The Shangri-La Tiger Leaping Gorge is a National AAAA-level scenic spot, encompassing Upper, Middle, and Lower Tiger Leaping Gorges.

The vast and mighty river, pressed and blocked by the dangerous cliffs, seems to become furious. It gathers its strength and continuously attacks the cliffs, with raging waves, cascading waterfalls, and roaring in the valley, shaking the whole mountain. At the bottom of the river, waves break the banks, and at the top of the cliff, springs gush out.

I went to Tiger Leaping Gorge during the Mid-Autumn Festival in 2016. It was spectacular. The fork in the road is quite small, so you need to be more careful if you drive there.

Shangri-La's Tiger Leaping Gorge is considered the Upper Tiger Leaping Gorge. After entering, there's a plank path. Go down about 200 meters to see the tiger sculpture, then ascend again to the summit. The area isn't large, but the viewing platform offers a nice view. The climb up and down the stairs isn't too tiring, so it's recommended for families with children and the elderly.

I was very disappointed when I first arrived because it looked like a gentle stream from above.

The further down you go, the more shocking it becomes.

The scenery is first-class.

If you have time and energy, it's best to hike here.

If you've visited Yunnan and Lijiang before and haven't visited Tiger Leaping Gorge, you'd be remiss. Its majestic and magnificent scenery is truly impressive.

There is little chance of water going there during the Spring Festival, but it will go there during the rainy season.

The chartered bus from Shangri-La back to Lijiang passes Tiger Leaping Gorge, but there's a fee at the entrance, meaning you have to buy an entrance ticket even if you're just passing through. So, we waited around until 5 or 7 a.m., waiting for the driver to get off work, and then we crossed. Since Tiger Leaping Gorge was on my itinerary, I got off the bus at the middle Tiger Leaping Gorge. There are buses from Tiger Leaping Gorge to Lijiang every day, so don't worry; just book your tickets at the hotel.

If you're not in a hurry and have a good stamina, you can hike to Middle Tiger Leaping. It's said to be more spectacular and dangerous, with tigers surrounded by people taking photos. In fact, the waves at Upper Tiger Leaping are already very turbulent and magnificent. The plank road is well-maintained and not difficult to walk on. However, this is considered a plateau area, so it's best to walk slowly on the stairs and plank road to avoid strenuous exercise that may cause altitude sickness.

Going to Tiger Leaping Gorge in July coincided with the rainy season, and the rushing river made the scenery even more magnificent. It was definitely worth a visit. However, the steps from the valley floor back to the parking lot after the tour were quite steep, and everyone was out of breath. Elderly people or children should be mindful of their physical condition when going to Tiger Leaping Gorge.

After seeing so many green mountains, clear waters, flowers and plants along the way, it’s a bit different to suddenly see a canyon. It can relieve visual fatigue, hahaha! Tiger Leaping Gorge is quite spectacular. We went there at the end of June, when the river was raging.

We just arrived, and since it was summer, the water was still quite abundant, which was quite stunning. We took a bus from the Lijiang Bus Station and got off at Hutou Tiao Town, known locally as Qiaotou. There's no public transportation. With some bargaining, you can get a round-trip taxi for around 80 yuan. You can also try your luck with Didi, which is much cheaper. Nine kilometers later, you'll reach the Tiger Leaping Gorge Scenic Area, also known as Upper Tiger Leaping Gorge. This is a developed tourist attraction, and most people visit here. There's a plank road leading to the gorge bottom. Of course, you can also go further in to Middle Tiger Leaping Gorge and Lower Tiger Leaping Gorge. If you're not a hiking enthusiast, don't go there. While I was bargaining with the illegal taxi driver, a Didi driver came over and refused to let us in. The scenic area management didn't care either. After a long standoff, I told the Didi driver we'd take a detour and then enter later. We drove to the town and spent half an hour there. Of course, we didn't use Didi and just asked him how much it would cost since we needed to go to Shangri-La later. He said he wanted a round trip to Tiger Leaping Gorge, and since he was also planning to return to Shangri-La, he said it would be 120 yuan total. We said 100 yuan, and he said yes. That price is ridiculously cheap, hahaha.

It was a spectacular experience, but it rained, so the fun was a little short! This attraction is a must-see!

However, since we visited in February, the currents were not strong or swift, so we didn't see the dangers of Tiger Leaping Gorge.

The upper Tiger Leaping Gorge is generally good. Coming down is not tiring. Going up the 1000+ stairs makes me feel tired. But it doesn't affect my mood.

Worth a visit! The scenery is great and you can feel the power of nature.

There are too many tourists and the scenery is average. It is the least interesting part of the Three Gorges.

As a result, the river's state changes rapidly, sometimes it roars wildly, rocks tumble and water surges, snow-capped waves fly, and sometimes it swirls and rolls, waterfalls roar, and mist shrouds the sky, forming a rare landscape wonder in the world.

On the way, we took a short stroll down to Upper Tiger Leaping Gorge. The giant rock in the middle is said to be the reason Tiger Leaping Gorge gets its name (not the silly tiger). The Upper Tiger Leaping Gorge is well-developed, with all the necessary guardrails. However, I wasn't particularly interested in walking the scenic path. So, after just one look, we left. It wasn't flood season, anyway, and without seeing the roaring Yangtze River, it would be a dull experience.

The word "galloping and magnificent" is very suitable to describe this place, it is worth a visit!

If you join a tour group, you can only visit Upper Tiger Leaping Gorge.

Firstly, only Upper Tiger Leaping Gorge has an official viewing platform and plank road. Secondly, the plank road to Upper Tiger Leaping Gorge is not long, so it takes less time to visit. Thirdly, Upper Tiger Leaping Gorge is the narrowest part of the canyon.

Although the scenery is beautiful, it is still not as good as the Tiger Leaping Gorge

The rocky canyon and the surging river are breathtaking. Upper Tiger Leaping Gorge is closest to the entrance and is more well-preserved. Middle and Lower Tiger Leaping Gorges are more suitable for hiking. If you just want to experience the majesty of Tiger Leaping Gorge, there's no need to go to Middle and Lower Tiger Leaping Gorges. Upper Tiger Leaping Gorge has a staircase leading down, and you're still very close to the water. The river roars past, and the glass fence makes it feel close and within reach.

Tiger Leaping Gorge, divided into Upper, Middle, and Lower Tiger Leaping Gorge, is a hiker's paradise, becoming increasingly treacherous the further you go. Upper Tiger Leaping Gorge is within the Lijiang area, while Middle and Lower Tiger Leaping Gorge are within the Shangri-La area. I departed from Lijiang and arrived at Tiger Leaping Gorge at 11:00 AM. I purchased my 65-yuan ticket, but was told that going to Middle Tiger Leaping Gorge would cost an additional 70 yuan per person (including the return bus to Lijiang). This is because Upper Tiger Leaping Gorge is located in Lijiang and can only be reached by hiking from the scenic area entrance. A friendly reminder for all hikers: if you're going to Middle Tiger Leaping Gorge, be sure to book a bus to Shangri-La. Passengers can drop off at both Upper and Middle Tiger Leaping Gorges, and the one-way trip is only 45 yuan. The return bus from Shangri-La to Lijiang is 40 yuan per person. I didn't do my research carefully before departure, so this is a lesson learned.

If possible, I still recommend that you go and experience it for yourself!
