Anxiu Bridge, one of the many ancient bridges in Xitang Ancient Town, lies east of the Misty Rain Corridor and was built during the Ming Dynasty. Xitang boasts a flat terrain and a dense network of rivers. Nine rivers converge in the town, dividing it into eight sections. Numerous bridges connect the waterside town. Anciently, it was known as "Nine Dragons Holding a Pearl" or "Winds from All Directions." By 1998, the town had a total of 104 bridges. Since the Song Dynasty, Xitang has boasted 11 bridges, including Anren Bridge, Anjing Bridge, Wufu Bridge, and Yongning Bridge. During the Qing Dynasty, Wolong Bridge, Duchan Bridge, and Laifeng Bridge were also constructed. Most of these ancient bridges are single-span stone-pillar and wooden-beam bridges. Their exquisite craftsmanship has been well-preserved to this day, making them a truly spectacular sight. They have long been known as "Crouching Dragons Soaring Across the Waters, Rainbows Flying Across."

The ancient bridge is very beautiful. It is a good place to take photos of the sunset in the evening. In fact, there are many bridges in the ancient town, and I often can't even remember their names.
This ancient bridge is located in a tourist area. It's well-placed. There are many better bridges in the wild, but I haven't had the chance to show them.
A very quaint bridge, suitable for taking pictures here
There are beautiful bridges everywhere, and the feeling of Jiangnan water town is really good.
There are so many bridges in Xitang. The Jiangnan water town is so unique. Take a cruise to see the scenery and then become someone else's scenery.
A small bridge in Xitang, surrounded by many teahouses.
There are many bridges in the water towns of Jiangnan, and Xitang is also famous for its many bridges. If you walk around Xitang, you can walk across almost all the bridges. Each bridge has its own story, and the origin of its name also has an explanation.
"No matter how time passes, I will be with you in Xitang"
I visited Xitang on a road trip in April 2008. Back then, it was still a relatively newly developed old town, with buildings beginning to take shape, few tourists, and simple folk customs. In early spring, with the warmth and blossoms, the town seemed even more tranquil and elegant when I woke up early in the morning, strolling through the streets before the tourists arrived. Walking through the narrow bluestone-paved alleys in the rain, the faint fragrance of rapeseed flowers wafting through the damp air, I was deeply captivated by this ancient town.
Here are the photos I took at that time. You can see how much it has changed.
There are many bridges in Xitang, each one is very beautiful.
A must-go for anyone going to Xitang. It's very small and you can walk around it in an hour. There are all kinds of bars here, and at night the bars are colorful and lively, and the prices are not cheap. The environment here is very relaxing. I personally like it very much. It's very quiet, with small bridges, flowing water and people's homes. I will go again!
One of the many bridges in Xitang Ancient Town, each with its own characteristics and many names, it is easy to miss it if you are not careful.
It’s been a while since I went there, so I didn’t pay much attention to these attractions, but I think I’ve been there.
It has a very Jiangnan feel and looks very solid. The scenery on the bridge is very beautiful.
The black-sailed boats in the Jiangnan water towns are the real Jiangnan.
You can take all kinds of photos here, taking in the waterscape and houses of Xitang. Especially the night view at night is really beautiful.
You can come and see small bridges and flowing water, but what southern China has the most is small bridges and flowing water, white walls and black tiles.
Every bridge is beautiful, as beautiful as a painting.
Every bridge in Xitang is very beautiful. The best time to take photos is at 6am when there are the least people. Where are you, Jay Chou?
Xitang is connected by various bridges, each with its own unique characteristics.
To be honest, there are so many bridges that I have forgotten which one is which. In the early morning, I walk on various small bridges, and occasionally see old people washing clothes in the green water. Xitang, which is quiet and has a bit of worldly atmosphere, is still very beautiful.
It's nice to stand on the bridge and look at the scenery. It's more beautiful to take pictures when the sun sets.
There are many distinctive bridges in the ancient city, each with its own characteristics.
To me, all the bridges in Xitang are the same. I don't know the stories behind them; I just feel the tranquility of standing on them and taking in the scenery. I've been there three times, and each time it's been more crowded, especially the last time. It wasn't peak season, but it was already packed... I really don't have the mood to appreciate it. So, Xitang, rain or shine, winter or summer, as long as there are few people, you can feel the atmosphere of Xitang.
Anxiu Bridge is the earliest high bridge in Xitang Town and also a famous stone bridge in Xitang. Standing on the Anxiu Bridge and looking into the distance, the water, roads, sheds, corridors, black tiles and white walls of Xitang are like light-colored ink paintings under the setting sun.
It is best to visit many bridges in Xitang when there is no more time, otherwise you will just follow the crowds and not know the difference between these bridges.
It was night when I went there. There were many people on the bridge, but I still couldn't resist its ancient charm.
You must avoid going to Misty Jiangnan on Saturdays and Sundays. I always stay in the scenic area when I visit each ancient town. I book tickets and accommodation before going. I arrive at noon, arrange accommodation, and then wander around with the crowds. There are still many bars in the Anxiu Bridge area, but I prefer to wander around in the early morning. It’s so refreshing...
Haha, it's an ancient town with very classical characteristics. I even took a set of photos in ancient costumes to commemorate it.
Anxiu Bridge is a famous bridge in Xitang. Standing on the bridge and looking into the distance, the water, roads, corridors and blurred black tiles and pink walls of Xitang are like light-colored rice paper paintings under the setting sun.
Anxiu Bridge is Xitang Town's oldest high bridge and a renowned stone bridge. Standing atop the bridge, you can gaze out across the water, roads, covered corridors, and dark-tiled, whitewashed walls of Xitang, like a pastel-colored ink painting, bathed in the setting sun. The bridge's high point affords panoramic views of both banks, and on clear days, you can even see far into the distance, making it an ideal spot for photographs. The small stone bridge is naturally crowded with tourists, and the illuminated scenery at night is even more captivating. For photos, get up early in the morning. Boats paddle leisurely beneath the bridge, their shadows gently dissipated by the gurgling water, waves of ripples gently dissolving the traces of time. The shadows of trees, boats, and bridge sway and gradually fade away... This breathtaking scenery feels like a journey through a painting!
Each bridge has its own scenery, which makes it easy to confuse them, so most tourists just pass by.
Beautiful, very nice environment. Beautiful, very nice environment.
I remember walking across some bridges, but I don't remember their names.
One of the 27 ancient bridges in Xitang Ancient Town, the bridge is exquisitely crafted and has been preserved intact after hundreds of years. It is known as "Crouching Dragon Lingbo, Rainbow Flying Bridge".
Water is Xitang's dream, its soul, and its bridges are what haunt it. Among its 104 stone bridges, Anxiu Bridge silently listens to the gentle hum of flowing water and the soft singing of oars for millennia, witnessing the past and present, the prosperity and fading of history along its banks. Its age-old form, swirling in the embrace of the water, its shadow sways with the waves, like a startled wild goose. Xitang's stone bridges, like ancient books, are steeped in the subtle passage of time. With a warm longing, they ripple through the river. Their shapes vary, some resembling a crouching dragon on the water, others like a soaring rainbow. Boats pass through its jade rings, while people walk along its rainbow belts. Such beauty evokes a sense of being transported into a painting.
The attractions in Xitang Ancient Town are quite good and full of ancient charm, but they are too big and it takes a long time to walk around.
It has the characteristics of a water town, is a very lively place, and is also a key scenic spot where no tickets are required.
Xitang boasts numerous bridges, and Anxiu Bridge is one of them. It's located near the Misty Corridor and Anjing Bridge, where the most scenic spots are concentrated. Standing on Anxiu Bridge, you can take in all of Xitang's main attractions. Along either side of the bridge, shops, inns, and restaurants abound, bustling with people, creating a bustling scene. At night, the area is ablaze with lights, dotted with black sails, and filled with the aroma of wine and the bustle of voices, creating a sense of the Qinhuai River of yesteryear.
Many years ago, I had a yearning for Xitang~ ~
It's a very unique bridge. The scenery is beautiful when standing on the bridge.
Very quaint ancient town, the scenery is better at night
The scenery is beautiful, but there are many people. I will go again.
The scenery beside the bridge is particularly good, I like it very much, the stone bridge
The beauty of Xitang can be summed up in three words: quiet, peaceful and elegant.
Standing on the bridge and taking pictures of the scenery is really beautiful.
There are indeed so many bridges in Xitang that I even forgot their names.
Xitang is so small that you can definitely walk through it all in an hour. It is nice to see the night view at night.
There are many bridges in Xitang, and I think this one is the most beautiful, and the scenery is also beautiful.
I particularly like this kind of scenery, small bridges, houses, flowing water, people, poetic and picturesque
A stone bridge has no special features, but it still stands there after thousands of years of wind and rain.
Ancient towns like these only truly capture the essence of life when there aren't many people around. Only then can you hear the passage of time, understand the stories of the past, and discern the mottled marks on the walls. Luckily, we arrived in Xitang on a Friday. Given the two-day Mid-Autumn Festival holiday and the proximity to National Day, there weren't many people out and about, so we avoided crowds throughout our trip.
Xitang isn't large, and without lingering in small shops or visiting tourist attractions, one can thoroughly explore the ancient town in three or four hours. We stayed on Lower West Street, right outside the hostel. West Street is Xitang's main east-west thoroughfare, divided into Upper and Lower sections. In ancient times, east was considered Upper and west was considered Lower, hence the distinction between Upper and Lower West Streets. Like most commercialized ancient towns, West Street is lined with shops, and most of the small attractions included in the ticket price are located here, making it the most crowded street. However, as you walk east or west to the end of West Street, or through a random stone alley to reach another street, you'll notice fewer tourists, fewer shops, and more ordinary homes. Elderly people chatted on bamboo chairs by the river, owners of small art shops tended to their flowers and plants, and children aged four or five played with their local dogs... As you watched, you forgot you were in Xitang, or even a scenic area. It felt like just another part of your hometown, where people lived a natural and peaceful life. Only the black-sailed boats carrying tourists that occasionally passed by in the river reminded me where I was.
Xitang is known for its "three abundances," the first of which is its abundance of bridges. The Jiangnan region, a place of flowing water and charming people, is inevitably characterized by bridges. Xitang boasts a truly diverse landscape, including Huanxiu Bridge, Anxiu Bridge, Anjing Bridge, Duchan Bridge, Yongning Bridge, Wolong Bridge, and Songzi Laifeng Bridge. These diverse bridges add to the vibrant energy of the water town and the immersiveness of Jiangnan, capturing the beauty of the landscape in stunning photographic captures.
There is a bar street across Anxiu Bridge, which is generally worth a visit.
From Anxiu Bridge to Wolong Bridge, you will see Wan'an Bridge and Antai Bridge along the way. You can vaguely see the Shizi Bridge and Wuyin Bridge overlapping behind Antai Bridge, which fully demonstrates one of the characteristics of the ancient town: there are many bridges!
A small bridge in the Jiangnan water town. It feels great to take pictures on the bridge.
A photo-taking spot ~ a must-see for those who love fresh food ~ remember to get up early to visit ~ because there are too many people during the day
It is not far from the third parking lot of the scenic area. You can see it after walking a short distance into the scenic area. It is relatively quiet.
There are many similar stone bridges in Xitang, with different shapes and sizes. Combined with the river and distinctive ancient buildings, it is full of charm and very suitable for sketching and taking pictures!
There are many bridges. Although I don’t know the names of the bridges, I feel very comfortable being in the Jiangnan water town. Even if I have many worries, my heart is calm at this moment.
Most of the ancient towns nowadays are the same. They are too commercialized. The only sentiment is the artistic style of the shops. The space is so small that it will be very uncomfortable if there are too many people.
Xitang is not big, but it is full of scenery. It is best to take photos here in a long skirt.
Whether it is day or night, it is always pleasant to stand on the bridge. You can get up early in the morning and go to the bridge to feel the comfort and tranquility of Xitang Town.
It is a very beautiful bridge, with flowing water, pink walls and black tiles, and houses by the water.
The ancient bridge has a pleasant scenery. Standing on the bridge, you can see the whole scenery of the ancient town.
It was interesting to walk across the bridges during the day and find them according to the hand-drawn map... The night view here is beautiful... There are many people
Xitang has the most bridges, many alleys, and is very beautiful.
The angle for photographing Xitang from Anxiu Bridge is very good, which can best reflect the feeling of small bridges, flowing water and people's homes.
Anxiu Bridge is Anshan Bridge, which spans the Xitang River and has a beautiful shape.
Every bridge has its own story, the origin of each bridge's name is beautiful, and standing on the bridge is even more of a beautiful scenery.
The bridges that can be seen everywhere in Xitang connect the two banks. Their main function is to provide convenience and the scenery on the bridge is also good.
Walking in the quiet alleys with the rising sun in the morning, it is very pleasant to face the sunlight
The beauty of Jiangnan towns lies in the small bridges, flowing water and people’s homes!
There are many such bridges in the ancient town. Each bridge has a nice name and a beautiful story.
There are bridges everywhere in Xitang, but I can’t remember their names.
Xitang Anxiu Bridge evokes a dreamlike tranquility of a waterside village. Surrounded by emerald waters, the ancient bridge silently watches over, connecting the vibrant life on both sides. Strolling across the bridge, every brick and tile exudes a simple and elegant elegance. Gazing into the distance, the small bridges, flowing water, and houses paint a captivating ink painting.
