The Shiwei Rock Scenic Area is located in the northeastern part of the Nanxi River Scenic Area, nestled in the canyon of Xia'ao Village in Hesheng Township. Rising from the sky, it's known as the "Heavenly Pillar of Southern Zhejiang" and the crown of China. A 306-meter-tall, pale red boulder, its summit resembles twin lotus buds, towering side by side and resembling a ship's mast, hence the name Shiwei Rock.

Shiweiyan Scenic Area is located in the northeast of Nanxi River Scenic Area in Yongjia County, Zhejiang Province, and is adjacent to Beiyan Dang Mountain in the east. The scenic area has gurgling water, lush bamboo, and rugged rocks. The water is blue, the vegetation is green, the flowers are red, white, and yellow, and the rocks are mostly light red or orange. The scenery changes with every step, and the sounds and colors change, which amazes all visitors.
Shima Rock is one of the many scenic spots along the Nanxi River. A large rock, resembling a ship's mast, stands alone, surrounded by water. It's a truly unique sight. You can walk around the rock, and there's a restaurant across the bridge, so you'll never have to worry about food.
Walking in the valley to the scenic spots, geological park, the old and children are not tired. The ticket to the scenic spot includes a five-minute boat ride. You can play in the stream and there are many groupers. Due to the influence of the typhoon, the Little Three Gorges scenic spot could not be visited. I just walked around the big rock, so I can't make more comments.
The route to visit Shiweiyan Scenic Area is very simple, from the west gate to the east gate or from the east gate to the west gate. The east gate is the main entrance, and most tourists enter the scenic area from here. Since we came from Yantou Town, we parked our car at the west gate for convenience and walked from west to east.
For self-driving tourists, getting back to their parking spot is a challenge if they want to avoid backtracking through the scenic area and exit through a different gate. Previous attempts to find a solution involved taking a taxi operated by locals outside the area, but this was often overcharged. We didn't see any taxis when we left the area, so we asked the management outside for directions back to the parking lot. They explained that a free shuttle bus was available, effectively solving the problem for self-driving tourists.
There are two gates to the Shiweiyan Scenic Area: one is 500 meters from Lingshang Renjia, and the other is near Xia'ao Village, 4.8 kilometers from Lingshang Renjia. Both have parking lots. The first one is free, but we didn't park at the Xia'ao Village parking lot, so we don't know if it charges a fee. Since we arrived early, there was a private van at the gate. He asked for an exorbitant 50 yuan. We knew that drivers usually only charge 30 yuan, so we bargained and finally settled on 40 yuan. After the tour, I realized that if you arrive early in the morning, you don't have to bargain with the van driver. You can drive to Xia'ao Village, explore the area, and then after the noon tour, take a private van from the Little Three Gorges exit to Xia'ao Village and drive your own car. This way, you won't be ripped off by vans, as there will be more vans taking passengers to Xia'ao Village.
The entrance to the Shiweiyan Scenic Area from Xia'ao Village is temporarily referred to as the East Entrance, while the entrance closer to the Lingshang Renjia is the West Entrance. The East Entrance has two entrances: one on the ticket office side and one on the south side of the bridge. Entering from the ticket office side leads to a nearly 100-meter-long water crossing. The river is swift and the stone piers are slippery, making it somewhat dangerous. The roads within the Shiweiyan Scenic Area are not very steep, so even though the river flows from west to east, walking is not difficult. The park is approximately 8 kilometers long, which is enough for a morning.
Shiwei Rock, named for its resemblance to a ship's mast, towers majestically. Standing 306 meters tall, its pale reddish hue and its summit resemble twin lotus buds, towering side by side. It's known as the "Heavenly Pillar of Southern Zhejiang." Within the scenic area, gurgling water, lush bamboo, and jagged rocks abound. The water is blue, the vegetation is green, the flowers range from red, white, and yellow, and the rocks, mostly pale red or orange, transform into breathtaking scenery with each step. There's an optional hike up the mountain, or you can wait for a boatman to arrive. A tranquil boat ride through the deep canyon, gazing at the blue sky and white clouds overhead and listening to the birdsong, is a truly relaxing experience. Finally, you reach the Little Three Gorges, where huge boulders strewn across the riverbed, the constant clashing of the water creates a gurgling sound, reminiscent of the melodious music of a woodwind instrument. The beauty of nature lies in being in it. As long as you use your body and mind to comprehend it, you will experience it.
The World Geopark is Yongjia's signature scenic spot. It is very close to Lingshangrenjia Roasted Whole Lamb. If you come to Nanxi River, you must go to Shiweiyan.
The weather was not good and it was gray for taking photos. The small Jiuzhaigou connected to the Shiweiyan Scenic Area was unexpectedly beautiful. In the off-season, I only met 7 or 8 people in the whole scenic area. It was very nice to walk around and stop.
Shiweiyan Scenic Area is convenient for self-driving tours. Along S213, it is basically along the Nanxi River. It is a scenic highway with a newly built asphalt road, a two-way single lane, a dividing line, and a relatively wide road. As you approach the entrance, the road narrows slightly.
During the National Day holiday, the water flow in the small mountain gorge is relatively low and cruise ships cannot pass through.
The entrance fee to the scenic area is 50 yuan, which includes a boat ride within the scenic area.
There are some free parking spaces on the roadside near Shiwei Rock.
During the National Day holiday, a construction site near the entrance of the scenic area opened temporary parking (10 yuan/time). The scenic area has a parking lot, but it is unknown whether it charges a fee.
Wenzhou, Zhejiang, Nanxi River Shiwei Rock Scenic Area, the entire scenic area can be explored in two hours on foot.
After parking, enter the scenic area and walk along the hiking trail to the end. The scenery along the way is beautiful, with beautiful mountains and rivers.
After arriving at the end point, the shuttle bus will take you back to the entrance of the scenic area for free.
The scenery is amazing. When you get to the boat stop, you can first go up the plank road to overlook the panoramic view and then come down to take the ferry to the lawn. But the more beautiful scenery is behind. The Little Three Gorges is still great.
There's now a dedicated tourist bus from Yantou to each scenic area, making it much more convenient. To get to Shiwei Rock, just take the last stop, enter directly, buy your ticket, and turn left to reach the scenic entrance. There's a boat ride included in your ticket, which costs 50 yuan. After your visit, exit through the west gate, where a dedicated bus will take you to the east gate. To get back, turn off to Longwantan and ask the tour bus driver to drop you off at the rock. Then, take a rickshaw or similar vehicle nearby for under 20 yuan. Be sure to return early, as the last tour bus leaves at 4:00 PM. Shiwei Rock is a must-see attraction, and the scenery is quite stunning.
It is not inferior to Jiuzhaigou. The key point is that we walked for nearly three hours and saw less than four or five tourists. I think it’s because of the inconvenient transportation.
Personally, I feel that Shiwei Rock is the essence of Nanxi River, and it takes about two to three hours to visit it.
After three days in Wenzhou, I feel that it is more suitable here and nearby. Many of the accompanying products are not worth visiting. It is still okay to go around Shizhiyan.
Before entering the scenic area along Hesheng Creek, you can see the Shiwei Rock standing tall and proud, overlooking the Fourth Ring Road. This is the best angle to photograph Shiwei Rock.
Entering the scenic area and walking along the stream, the water is as green as emerald, and the mountains are covered with green grass. The two banks are beautiful, and there is a feeling of winding paths and gradually entering a better place.
Shiwei Rock is surrounded on three sides by a stream, its steep slopes covered in verdant pine branches and shrouded in vines. At the foot of Shiwei Rock's south side lies a deep pool. Riding a bamboo raft upstream westward, the pool is flanked by dark, iron-like cliffs. Just as the situation seemed hopeless, the raft suddenly turned and entered a three-meter-wide crevice, where a steel ladder was placed on the cliff face. Opposite, the peaks rose steeply, towering and precipitous. Two independent rock peaks of varying heights, nestled between them, a stone figure, like a unicorn delivering a child, its head held high toward the sky. Clear water meandered nearly 300 degrees around the base of Shiwei Rock. A plank road bordered the stream, leading upstream along the stream, which flowed like an emerald belt, circling the base of Shiwei Rock, sometimes wide, sometimes narrow, sometimes slow, sometimes fast. The scenery was endlessly varied, offering a captivating experience.
A boat trip through the canyon reveals towering peaks and steep cliffs on both sides. The clear, green water contrasts beautifully with the lush greenery and trees, creating a scene reminiscent of a tranquil paradise. At the exit, the view opens up to a vast expanse of water and a flat island, a stretch of flat land nestled among the mountains.
The first destination for the Dragon Boat Festival self-driving tour in 2017 was actually very ordinary, with three stars at most.
The scenery is very beautiful and the scenic area is very environmentally friendly. However, the service facilities outside the scenic area have not kept up. The sanitation of the farmhouses is not optimistic, and the village infrastructure does not even have street lights. Fortunately, it was near the Mid-Autumn Festival and the moon was round and bright. My husband and I walked for a while in the moonlight. We didn't dare to go far, but we did see fireflies.
The scenery is beautiful, with green mountains and clear waters, fresh air, and few people. It is definitely a summer resort to come here in the summer. The scenic area is not big and it takes about three hours to play. When you get to the pier, remember that you can take a free boat with your ticket. 😊PS The only drawback is that the transportation is very inconvenient. There is no direct bus and everyone has to drive themselves. Maybe this is one of the reasons why there are so few people!
The scenic spots are better than expected, with beautiful scenery and fewer people.
Walking in, the water is nice, the rocks are beautiful.
The "Heavenly Pillar of Southern Zhejiang", Shima Rock, stands tall and majestic in the shape of a ship's mast. The glass observation deck allows you to experience the feeling of being in the air. The air is fresh and cool, making it a great summer resort!
As the most popular scenic spot along the Nanxi River, I was still a bit disappointed. Perhaps I've seen too many landscapes in Jiangsu and Zhejiang... The best time to visit is when the rain has cleared up. The weather isn't too hot, the water is plentiful, and the hike isn't tiring. There's a small glass plank road at the top.
Just walking around and looking around, the air is fresh, the eyes are full of greenery, and you won't feel tired at all. If you feel tired, you can take the ferry out. The ticket price includes a one-way trip.
About 500 meters north of Xia'ao Village in Hesheng Township, in a canyon, stands a massive peak that towers above the earth. Its shape, resembling a ship's mast, earns it the name Shiwei Rock. Standing at a height of 306 meters, it is composed entirely of light red stone, and its summit resembles twin lotus buds, towering side by side. This rock is known as the "Heavenly Pillar of Southern Zhejiang."
One of the main scenic spots of Nanxi River, you can first take a boat tour of the Little Three Gorges, and then walk up to a glass observation deck.
Very natural landscape. Due to the inconvenient transportation and cloudy weather, there are few tourists, but I really enjoy the feeling of being customized.
The scenic spot is not big, but the characteristics are obvious and the scenery is nice. The geese there are quite fierce.
The Shiwei Rock Scenic Area is located in Yongjia County, Zhejiang Province. It is surrounded by streams on three sides and has a relative height of 306 meters. It can be called the "Pillar of Heaven in Southern Zhejiang" and the "Crown of China". Its landscape is majestic, strange, dangerous, beautiful, secluded and mysterious. The main attractions include Shiwei Rock, Little Three Gorges, Narcissus Cave, Qilin Peak, Shuixiang Rock, Pineapple Rock, etc.
A trip to the Yandang Mountains amidst the emerald waters and picturesque rocks reveals Xie Gong's talent for finding beautiful scenery.
Shiweiyan usually guides you to the main entrance. We all get tickets online, which is a few yuan cheaper than buying them on the spot.
Since Shiweiyan is a one-way visitor attraction, and the exit is at the Little Three Gorges behind the mountain, it is recommended that you hire a car first (we did not bargain during the National Day holiday, but it was 40 yuan per car for 4 people, so you can bargain on weekdays).
Go to Xiao Sanxia and walk backwards so that you can pick up the car directly when you come out
The local driver also told us that the mountain road back to Shiweiyan from Xiaosanxia would be very congested after 10 o'clock. It was probably because the mountain road was narrow and there were many cars. So we could go this way. Our journey was very smooth.
There are two sections that can be reached by boat
Because it was too sunny, there were people queuing
We chose to walk
The Shiwei Rock Scenic Area is one of the core scenic areas of the Nanxi River Scenic Area. Its main attraction, the solitary, pale red peak, stands over 300 meters tall and is known as the "Heavenly Pillar of Southern Zhejiang." The water here is both clear and turquoise. The scenic area has two gates, north and south. Tour groups generally enter and exit through the south gate, while individual travelers can exit through the north gate, which offers even more stunning water views. However, the return trip requires a taxi, reportedly costing 40 yuan for the 4.5-kilometer journey. Alternatively, you can exit through the south gate.
There is a glass plank road here, which is the closest one to my home, so I have to go there once.
Tickets are 50 yuan per person, and seniors over 65 years old can enjoy half price with their ID cards. The whole journey takes about 2 hours.
Our group of four parked our car at the parking lot at the exit of Xiao Sanxia (free) and hired a local car to take us to the entrance of Shiwei Rock (40 yuan).
The Shiweiyan Scenic Area is actually composed of two scenic spots: Shiweiyan and Xiaosanxia. If you only visit Shiweiyan, you can exit from the original entrance without repeating the route. If you visit Xiaosanxia, it is recommended to walk along the stream from Shiweiyan to avoid the burden of climbing. Since we had already visited Longwantan National Forest Park that morning, and the scenery at Shiweiyan was only average, we did not choose the mountain route this time, but instead walked along the stream route.
The entire scenic area, including the Little Three Gorges, offers two free boat tours with your ticket. It was quite pleasant, but the distance was too short. The area wasn't crowded that day, and we were essentially the only four people in the Little Three Gorges. So, when we arrived at the Little Three Gorges boat stop at 4:45 PM, the boatman had already gone home and didn't come to pick us up despite our calls, so we had to walk along the plank path. Although this section of waterway is short, only about 200-300 meters, I was a little disappointed that I didn't have the boat tour I'd been promised.
After coming out of Xiao Sanxia, it is recommended not to pick up the car, but to walk directly to Lingshang Renjia (about 5 minutes) to eat roasted whole lamb.
The Shiwei Rock Scenic Area is one of the most unmissable attractions along the Nanxi River. Millions of years ago, volcanic activity left behind a 306-meter-high peak, shaped like a ship's mast, proudly overlooking the surrounding peaks. The reddish rock transforms into different shapes at different angles.
The Nanxi River circles around Shiwei Peak, and the scenic area has built a horseshoe-shaped trail along the water. There are two entrances at each end, about 5 kilometers apart. We entered from the west entrance. Admission is 50 yuan per person (including the boat ride).
The scenic area wasn't crowded. A short walk brought us to a pier with a ferry but no boatman. So we walked along the plank path that bordered the stream. The hills along the shore were covered in pictographic rocks of various shapes, and the water was a brilliant emerald green. Once we reached a patch of soft grass, we could see the back of Shima Peak, resembling a crouching eagle.
By the time we reached this point, the gloomy sky had begun to drizzle, so we abandoned our walk and took a boat to Jiugangtan. After reaching shore and continuing our journey, we encountered a peak resembling an elephant's head, some resembling warriors, and others resembling fish bones—a truly fascinating sight. Signs with pictures depicting the objects they resembled were located at the best viewing points, and upon closer inspection, the resemblance was quite striking. A large rock blocked the path, leaving only a narrow crack that required leaning sideways and bending over to pass. After we passed it and looked back, several dogs had easily emerged from the crack, not even glancing at us as they made their way straight ahead.
The rain was getting heavier, so we had to quicken our pace. Finally, we saw the unique Shiwei Peak at the east exit.
The staff at the exit called a car for us and took us to the west exit parking lot for 40 yuan. The road was misty and the mountain road was rugged.
Shiwei Rock has unique scenery, and it is a pleasure to stop and walk along the way.
Very beautiful scenic area, food and accommodation are very convenient, but not too convenient for travel. Popular and beautiful scenery!
The stream here is crystal clear, and the air is exceptionally fresh. There's a plank path that runs alongside the stream, or you can ascend the mountain steps to overlook the surrounding stream. The tranquil canyon, and the gentle paddling of small boats across the wild ferry, is truly refreshing. Those who prefer not to climb the mountain can take a ferry tour. Major attractions include Shiwei Rock, Shuixian Cave, Qilin Peak, and Xiangshui Rock.
Standing at the highest point of the scenic area, overlooking the panoramic view, the river is green and the boats are rippling, it's beautiful!
It's nice to walk around and take a look. It's suitable for slow viewing. There are free boat tours. Don't miss the Little Three Gorges.
The dangerous mountains, secluded valleys, strange rocks, verdant forests and green waters make it a great place to relax and unwind.
The scenic area is characterized by strange peaks and rocks, waterfalls and forest streams, which is worth a visit.
Located within Wenzhou's Nanxi River Scenic Area, Shiweiyan is a worthwhile destination, not just for the beauty of the iconic rock, but for its relative scarcity. We visited on a weekday in July, and there were very few tourists. Getting to Shiweiyan is quite a daunting task, requiring you to cross the river and take a bus to Yantou Town, where you can rent a car or share a ride. This might also contribute to the lack of crowds. From Yantou Town, it's a 20-minute drive to the scenic area's main gate. Student ID cards offer a 30% discount. Entering, you can either take the waterway, where staff will row you to another area, or hike up the mountain and walk the trestle bridge. The water is incredibly clear, just like the Nanxi River itself. The area boasts bamboo forests, caves, and a cable bridge. It's truly a relaxing stroll amidst the lush greenery and clear waters. I recommend taking the plank path; the scenery is much better than the waterway, and there's no need to climb too high; the path is essentially flat and winding through the mountains. We followed the signs all the way to another exit, which was the place with the big rock of Shiwei Rock. The driver was waiting for us there. In general, the scenery of Shiwei Rock Scenic Area is great, but the traffic has greatly restricted the development here. Perhaps because of this, I saw a more pure beauty.
Shiwei Rock is famous for its beautiful scenery and tranquil environment, making it a great place to visit in spring, summer and autumn.
It's a very quiet scenic spot. If you go early, there are almost no people. You can go hiking. The mountain is not high and it's not very hard. There is a lot of vegetation, which is good for morning exercise.
I went to Shiwei Rock in the morning before the group arrived. The scenery was beautiful. But it was inconvenient to take the bus, so I had to charter a car.
Shiwei Rock - a landmark attraction of Nanxi River.
We woke up at 5am to save on the entrance fee (50 yuan).
The original ticket price for Shiwei Rock is 50 yuan, which I personally think is quite worth it. Compared to many other places, the scenery here is worth the 4-50 yuan price tag, and you can take two boat rides. The scenic area has a route map, so there's no need for a detailed guide. Just enjoy the beautiful scenery of the mountains and water. The water at Shiwei Rock is truly stunning, and the drizzle adds to the magical feeling of a fairyland. The green of the water seems otherworldly, and it's indescribable.
To reach Shiwei Rock, you can take a bus from Hesheng. Upon arrival, you can book a small van for a ride to the entrance of the Little Three Gorges, which generally costs 30 yuan per bus. The entrance and exit of the Shiwei Rock scenic area are 7 kilometers apart. The recommended online method is to enter through the back door and exit through the front door, meaning you can enter from the Little Three Gorges entrance. The entire scenic area takes about 2.5 hours. The steps are relatively flat, making it a relaxing attraction suitable for all ages. By the way, Nanxi River has its own app, which provides offline audio guides and navigation for each scenic area. It's recommended to download it in advance. Shiwei Rock feels like a piece of jade. The lake water is like a pool of alluring aged wine, quiet and clear. A closer look reveals a flawless emerald, shimmering and emerald green. There are two waterways within the scenic area. Although the journeys are short, I recommend trying them, as they're free. Sitting on a boat with my mom, we leisurely sailed through the lush green mountains and waters. In this vast scenic area, there wasn't a single person around, and it felt like the entire place was ours!
Shiwei Rock: Named for its resemblance to a ship's mast, it stands 306 meters tall and is composed entirely of light red stone. Its peaks resemble twin lotus buds, standing side by side. Xiao Sanxia: About 3 kilometers long, it features a collection of steep cliffs, treacherous peaks and gorges, rapids and deep pools, and sandy beaches and grasslands, offering a tranquil and charming scenery.
Tickets: 50 yuan, 45 yuan on Tongcheng.com (book two hours in advance to avoid trouble)
Note: The tickets booked on Tongcheng.com are all electronically printed on a piece of paper, not the official tickets for the scenic spot, so those who like to collect tickets should pay attention~~
Transportation: It is about 25 kilometers away from Yantou Town. The road is easy to drive on. There are no mountain roads, and all roads are asphalt.
Parking: Free (the parking lot is uneven so be careful not to drag the car down)
Scenic area entrance and exit issues:
Let me address the question many people have about the entrance and exit to the scenic area being different. First, shortly after entering the scenic area, there are two forked roads: the left path leads up the mountain, leading to natural lawns and the Little Three Gorges, while the right path leads to attractions such as the Narcissus Cave, Pineapple Rock, and Jiugangtan. Actually, some of the attractions in the Shiweiyan Scenic Area are part of a small circular route; only the Little Three Gorges requires a bit of walking and is not part of the circular route.
My suggestion: Because the scenery on the left side of the mountain road is very ordinary, you have to go down the mountain to the natural lawn to see the scenic spots. It takes a lot of energy before you even start to visit the scenic spots. I personally don't recommend it. So choose to take the right road at the fork in the road and take pictures while walking along the water and the mountain.
Recommended small loop routes:
Scenic area entrance - Liangqi Cave - Pineapple Rock - General Rock (there is a suspension bridge on the left) - Narcissus Cave - Jiugangtan (take a boat) - Natural lawn - (turn left and go up) Glass Observation Deck (return the original route) - Natural lawn
Next we will go to the Little Three Gorges, where the scenery is super beautiful. There are two routes to choose from.
1. Suitable for self-driving cars parked at the entrance of the scenic area, and those with poor physical strength
There's a cobblestone path near the natural lawn and the dock leading to the Little Three Gorges. It's easy to find, as there's only one path. Scenic spots along the way include Shuixiang Rock and Dingbu Little Three Gorges. You can choose to take a boat to the Little Three Gorges and then rent a taxi from the Shiweiyan exit back to the scenic area entrance.
2. Suitable for bees with good physical strength
After reaching the Little Three Gorges, return the same way you came. Once you reach the natural lawn, there's a trail uphill on your right (make sure it's not the path to the glass viewing platform). At the fork in the road, take the trail uphill on the right. Once you see the "Luanzhen" stone gate, descend the mountain to the fork in the road leading to the scenic area entrance.
Tips for boat trips to Jiugangtan and Little Three Gorges:
1. When you see the iron railings near Jiugangtan, you have reached the pier. Look up at the stone in front of you and you will see the phone number of the boatman on duty.
2. The dock of Xiao Sanxia is very obvious. After seeing the pavilion, there is a sign on the left, and the boatman's contact information is hung on the tree by the water.
Accommodation: It is said on the Internet that there is Nanxi River Story accommodation in Shiweiyan Scenic Area, but it is not true. There is no accommodation in the scenic area. We saw Nanxi River Story on the way to Shiweiyan. The interior decoration of the accommodation is very unique, but the surrounding environment is really average and the price is a bit high. It is not recommended to stay here. You can choose Linkeng, Shiziyan, Yantou Town, etc.
The back door of the scenic area is the Lingshang Home, and bees coming out of the back door can choose to eat and stay there.
It's a nice place, very quiet and the scenery is beautiful. As soon as you buy the ticket, you can see the iconic attraction - Shiwei Rock.
The Shiwei Rock Scenic Area is actually not very big and there is no difficulty in climbing it. Only the plank road leading up the mountain is a little difficult, but it is not a big problem. It only takes 2 and a half hours to stroll leisurely.
Walking from the direction of the Little Three Gorges toward the scenic area's main gate, you'll be greeted by deep, emerald pools and towering peaks. Finally, Shimai Rock, like a giant sail, hangs in the sky. In the early morning, sunlight leaping from the mountain ridges casts it into a fiery red.
Shiwei Rock's beauty is particularly evident in its watery beauty. Beside the towering rocks, a shallow stream and deep pool create a tranquil atmosphere. While there are many rocks, the fact that it is surrounded by streams on three sides adds a touch of elegance and grace. The scenic area is mostly flat, with two short, free boat rides offering stunning views.
It's a really beautiful place. The sign at the entrance says it's called the Little Three Gorges. There are probably dozens of Little Three Gorges in China now... But what I like about this place is that it's very quiet, with very few people, like a paradise.
There are two sections of the Shiweiyan scenic area where you can take a boat. We had a group of three and had a great time. We took the small boat shown in the picture. There are boatmen's phone numbers at the ferry. If there is no one, you can call them and someone will come to pick you up! P.S. The shape of the Shiweiyan scenic area is a bit strange. We walked around randomly after entering from the back door, which resulted in us not being able to visit some places. It's a pity.
There is a glass viewing platform in the scenic area. You can climb up to see the whole picture of the Little Three Gorges.
The nectar flows gently among the peaks and plank roads. Strolling through the painting, you will be reluctant to leave, the beauty is breathtaking. If you are lucky, you can take a boat to the Little Three Gorges, and suddenly another village will come into your sight.
After eating at Lingshang Renjia, I found a car based on online guides and it cost 40 yuan to take me to the front gate of Shiweiyan Scenic Area. I walked from the front gate to the back gate, which took about three hours. The entrance fee was 50 yuan. The iconic cliffs of Shiweiyan were awe-inspiring at first sight.
Early in the morning, I took a bus from Yantou Bus Station to Hesheng, a 30-minute journey for 4 yuan per person. After getting off the bus, I hired a motorcycle taxi for 20 yuan to the back gate of Shiweiyan. It took about two hours to get there from the back gate to the front gate and back out (entrance fee 50 yuan per person). The return trip from the front gate of Shiweiyan to Hesheng cost 30 yuan. Buses from Hesheng to Yantou are plentiful, so it cost 4 yuan. I took the same route round trip. There were more caterpillars than tourists, and there were also many other mosquitoes. The scenery was concentrated, quiet, and pristine. I was bitten so badly that I'm still scratching myself at home. Those who attract insects, remember to wear long sleeves.
We had to change boats three times in the Shiweiyan Scenic Area. Thank you for the hard work of the boatman.
The children are good at using local materials and seem to be very happy.
As noon approached, more and more tourists came.
The true appearance of Shiwei Rock is too cruel, but fortunately there is still a trace of human breath.
We spent about two hours wandering around Shiweiyan. On the way back, we still chartered a car to Hesheng and then took a small passenger car. In the evening, we wanted to eat some local specialties. Maybe we didn’t find the right place. We saw a local restaurant and it was full. We had a pickled fish to comfort ourselves.
First, we went to Shiweiyan. The bus to Hesheng cost 4 yuan per person, and then we chartered a car for 30 yuan per car to arrive at Shiweiyan Scenic Area. The tickets were booked online and cost 85 yuan for two people.
Overall, Shiwei Rock was just okay. The most enjoyable part was taking off my shoes and soaking my feet. It was so relaxing. I also figured out a way to photograph the flowing water, which was really enjoyable. The area wasn't crowded, but perhaps due to management issues, the trash wasn't cleaned up promptly. It looked a bit dirty.
There is a deep pool in the middle of the scenic area, where you can take a boat ride down the river. Sitting on the boat, you can see the steep peaks on both sides of the river and the endless scenery.
After getting off the boat, continue walking forward and you will soon see the Little Three Gorges. The Little Three Gorges is very beautiful with its winding and twisting scenery, especially the pure emerald green water, which is a delight to the eyes.
The Shiweiyan Scenic Area has mountains and water, and there are also mountains to climb, but the mountains are not high and not tiring. It is very relaxing to walk slowly along the scenic road, take in the scenery, and play in the water.
There is a 306-meter-high light red boulder in the Shiwei Rock Scenic Area of Nanxi River. The top of the rock is like a pair of lotus buds, standing side by side, and shaped like a ship's mast, hence the name Shiwei Rock.
Bees in the mountains have a very keen sense of smell. As soon as Wang took out bread or other sweets, they would immediately swarm around you. Running was useless. Wang was surrounded twice in the morning. I chased him and was so happy that I was shaking with joy. Around 11 o'clock, we left the scenic area and drove down the mountain. As soon as we started, we were stuck in traffic again. Several handsome young traffic police were working to clear the traffic. We were very calm now. We took out a deck of cards and played while waiting. The drivers who were stuck on the way up the mountain looked at us in surprise.
The entrance and exit of Shiwei Rock are separate, about 5 kilometers apart, so you can enter or exit from either direction. We parked our car at Lingshang Renjia and hired a van for 40 yuan to take us to the other scenic area entrance, so we could drive straight back. The van was spacious and could accommodate as many people as you wanted. We arrived too early, so we didn't share a ride, but if we could, the fare would have been much lower. The driver's driving skills were truly remarkable. I held on to the handrails and rode like a roller coaster all the way to the scenic area entrance. The entrance fee was 50 yuan, compared to 43 yuan booked on Tongcheng. My classmate Wang and I strolled in and found no one checking tickets. We regretted it all the way. After walking a bit, we found another ticket gate ahead. A woman in work clothes was standing by the gate. We felt relieved. We finally didn't waste our money. Haha... Initially, the area was sparsely populated. My classmate Wang and I strolled around, played, and splashed in the water. Gradually, more people filled up. The mountain air fluctuated between cold and hot, giving me a stomachache.
The Little Three Gorges is the natural gateway to the Shiweiyan Scenic Area. The stream is emerald green, the cliffs are steep, and the rocks are winding and twisting. The occasional breeze adds to the tranquility and profoundness of this pure land. Sitting in a boat, the sound of the oars echoing through the empty valley is like the sound of pearls falling on a plate. It's hard to break the silence, and one must concentrate on this peaceful and tranquil scene.
Entering the Shiwei Rock Scenic Area (tickets are RMB 105; my daughter bought half-price tickets for RMB 25 for her first time), Shiwei Rock borders Yandang Mountain to the east. The area boasts a forest of peculiar peaks, jagged rocks, secluded caves and clear springs. The scenic peaks, deep, emerald pools, and picturesque forests, along with the vibrant waters and mountain scenery, are incredibly alluring and a perfect place for quiet contemplation. Walking through this tranquil valley, we were captivated by the breathtaking scenery of the peaks on either side, and the gurgling streams sang a lively song along the way.
As we walked along, we were met with mountains and water. Naturally, mountains and water are a perfect match. Mountains beside water imbue them with a gentle beauty; water beside mountains creates a majestic atmosphere. Deep valleys abound with clear streams and green pools, creating a pleasant, intoxicating, and captivating scene.
If you go to Shiweiyan without going to the Little Three Gorges, it would be a waste of time. The water in the Little Three Gorges is not inferior to Kanas.
There were very few buses from Hesheng to Shiweiyan. At that time, there was only one at 12 o'clock.
In the morning, the village was so cold that I had to put on all the clothes I had brought with me. At noon, it was extremely hot.
Finally, we arrived at Shiwei Rock after driving around in circles on the mountain road.
It was past midnight. The once quiet little place was now filled with the sound of a bulldozer digging. It was making me drowsy. So, without further delay, I entered the scenic area.
The most touching thing about this trip is that I came at such a good time that there were only a few people in the huge scenic area.
Shiwei Rock is mostly flat ground, with boat rides and a short, low plank path. It's easily accessible to both elderly and children. The tour includes two boat rides, one at Jiugangtan and the other at the Little Three Gorges, both included in the entrance fee.
The Shiweiyan scenic area has an upper entrance (Shiweiyan) and a lower entrance (Xiao Sanxia). The Shiweiyan scenic area isn't circular; the two exits are 7 kilometers apart. Therefore, those driving by car will need to charter a car to return to the other exit. We parked at the Xiao Sanxia entrance and then chartered a car to take us all the way to the upper entrance, where we'd pick up our car. The advantage of parking at Xiao Sanxia is that you can avoid driving 7 kilometers on winding mountain roads. I chartered a car at the entrance of Xiao Sanxia and asked a young man in a white car. He offered 80 yuan, then insisted on 50 yuan, saying I had a Shanghai license plate and was from Shanghai, so I must be well-off. It felt like they were trying to rip me off. I then approached a nearby older driver in a small van, who offered a lower price. However, the young man in the white car kept pushing the side of the car and insisted on charging him the same 50 yuan. I felt I'd been ripped off. For a 7-kilometer journey, the average price is around 30 to 40 yuan.
Tickets for Shiwei Rock can be booked online for 43 yuan, originally priced at 50 yuan. Discounts are available from time to time. I managed to get a 40 yuan discount. Later, at the ticket office, the ticket seller told me they didn't have any 40 yuan tickets available, so they charged me 35 yuan, which was quite generous.
Install the [Nanxi River Tourism APP] and use it as an electronic voice guide.
Remember to pick up a map and Nanxi River tourist guide at the ticket office.
There are very few people. Is it possible to book the whole place? The scenery is also very good, very original, with distant mountains and nearby waters, which is exactly what I like.
Shiwei Rock is actually a huge rock, surrounded by streams and mists, as if there are gods living on it.
There are few people, no pollution, the water is clean, and a breath of fresh air is an unprecedented pleasure...
In the early morning, Shiwei Rock is shrouded in mist. The Little Three Gorges is a place with endless green mountains and clear waters. It is worth the walk no matter how tiring it is!
After arriving at Yantou, transfer to the bus to Hesheng. After getting off, spend 20 yuan to charter a car to the first scenic spot, Shiweiyan.
Early that morning, my daughter bought a 20%-off ticket to Shiwei Rock and Longwantan Forest Park from the hotel's hostess (my husband and I had senior citizen IDs). Since there were no public buses to these two attractions, and my husband and I were older, my daughter decided to hire a car. There were many cars parked outside the hotel, so my daughter ran over to ask about the price and then immediately returned, feeling a little hesitant. Finally, at the hostess's recommendation, she hired a car with Mr. Chen (who turned out to be a very nice guy). The journey took about 50 minutes, and while the road was under construction for a while, I felt much better after the previous experience. From Hesheng, the road conditions improved, and the scenery became more beautiful. Mr. Chen told us to enter through the Little Three Gorges and meet us at the entrance to another scenic area on the mountain, saving us the trouble of backtracking. Not far inside, we found the boat captain waiting for us on a wooden boat. It turned out we were going in by boat (which was free, which was a welcome relief).
To get to Shiweiyan, you can first take a bus to Hesheng. There's a regular bus with "Hesheng" written on it at the station. The fare from Yantou to Hesheng is only 4 yuan.
But the roads were under construction all along the way, so it was almost a bumpy ride to Hesheng.
We got off at Hesheng and found a nearby electric scooter. I bargained with the driver, but my bargaining skills are really terrible.
Finally, we agreed on a price with the driver: 15 yuan from Hesheng to Shiweiyan Little Three Gorges, and 30 yuan from Hesheng out of the gate inside Shiweiyan.
The scenery along the way was nice and the driver was very talkative. It is indeed a long way from Hesheng to Shiweiyan, but the scenery along the way was beautiful.
The boatman said it had actually snowed that morning, and there was still snow on the higher mountaintops behind us. I had initially thought I was the only tourist there, but unexpectedly, a man came over while I was resting at the pavilion. He was curious why I had come to Shiwei Rock alone.
After a few words, I learned he was a chartered driver from Yandang Mountain, taking two guests from Guangdong from Yandang Mountain to Nanxi River. The two Cantonese were still inside the scenic area, so he was waiting at the exit. It was a shame I was taking the opposite route, otherwise we could have gone together.
The driver's surname was Lian. He said that if I went to Yandang Mountain the next day, I could call him to charter a car, so I left him my phone number.
I spent two days in Yandang Mountain thanks to Master Lian, he is a really nice guy. Leave me your phone number so I can advertise for him, haha.
Master Lian's mobile number: 13968778932
The Nanxi River is known as the cradle of Chinese landscape painting, as evidenced by Shiwei Rock. The Shiwei Rock scenic area is centered around a large rock. The one-way route passes two free boat stops: one near the entrance and one at the Little Three Gorges. Many people turn back before reaching the Little Three Gorges. The exit is just past the Little Three Gorges. A few minutes' walk from the exit leads to Lingshang Renjia. If you want to return to the entrance to pick up your car, you can charter a car. The original fare was 20 yuan, but it's now 50 yuan, which can be bargained down to 40 yuan.
The third and fourth days are mainly for sightseeing along the Nanxi River
The ticket price for Shiweiyan is 50 yuan. Compared with other places, Shiweiyan is more fun.
We arrived at the Nanxi River-Shiweiyan Scenic Area around 3:00 PM. We saw a beautiful waterfall before entering the area. As we stopped to take photos, two Zhejiang J vehicles arrived and also stopped to take photos.
Everyone left the waterfall at about the same time. A 3-4 minute walk up the winding mountain road will take you to the scenic area. You'll see a large sign for the Shiweiyan Scenic Area.
We went upstream and the scenery of the Little Three Gorges was superb. This is the upper reaches of the Nanxi River and the water is clear. Due to many mountain torrents, many large and small stones with different shapes have accumulated on both sides of the stream.
Arriving at Shiwei Rock, we saw construction vehicles quarrying nearby, causing quite a bit of noise. We bought a 50 yuan ticket per person and headed straight to the scenic area. It was a steal; my legs were already weak from walking. The water in the mountains was incredibly clean, and I enjoyed the boat ride and splashing around.
The Shiwei Rock Scenic Area is located near Xia'ao Village in Hesheng Township, Yongjia County, upstream of the Nanxi River. Located in a canyon, it is named after a peak (over 300 meters high) that resembles a sail. The area includes attractions such as Shiwei Rock and the Little Three Gorges, and tickets are required for entry.
The morning was thick with fog. An hour later, we arrived at the Shiwei Rock Scenic Area. Still, there weren't many tourists, and a light drizzle had begun. I felt a surge of joy. The oppressive heat faded with the rain, replaced by the fresh scent of leaves and the refreshing air of mist. As we advanced deeper into the scenic area, the crowds dwindled, but the scenery became more diverse. We continued through the mountains. Seeing the clear pool of water, the children couldn't resist. They slipped on their sandals and jumped in, throwing tiles, rocks, and catching fish. They had a blast. I couldn't bear to ask them to leave, because the crystal clear water captivated me, too. As we advanced deeper into the mountains, we were met with endless surprises: a glass plank bridge and a viewing pavilion. Looking down, it was quite fascinating. I boldly predict that this rain was the reason we saw the most beautiful Shiwei Rock Scenic Area.
