History: Xiaolongqiu, also known as the "Small Dragon Spring Waterfall," is one of the most famous waterfalls in the Yandang Mountains, a UNESCO Global Geopark. The waterfall has been admired since ancient times for its natural beauty and poetic inspiration, attracting scholars, poets, and painters throughout Chinese history.
Architecture: While a natural attraction, the surrounding area includes traditional stone pathways, wooden bridges, and viewing platforms built to blend harmoniously with the mountain and forest scenery. The design emphasizes unobstructed views of the waterfall and surrounding cliffs.
Cultural Value: Xiaolongqiu is considered a symbol of Yandang Mountain’s natural beauty. It represents traditional Chinese landscape aesthetics, often appearing in paintings and literature. The waterfall is also part of local folklore, associated with dragon legends.
Other Information: The waterfall is fed by mountain streams and has a height of approximately 60 meters. Surrounding trails lead visitors through lush forests, rock formations, and smaller cascades, offering immersive nature experiences.

We came at the wrong time. It was the dry season in Xiaolongqiu. The legendary majestic waterfall that cascaded down from the sky was reduced to a thin line. It was weak and powerless. There was no momentum or shock. Only the shape of the mountain remained. There was nothing we could do.
When we went there, the water volume of the waterfall in the mountains was not abundant, but for me who hadn't seen natural scenery for a long time, it felt pretty good; it was just that a company was organizing a team-building event, and a group of young people ignored the warning signs and went into places where they were not allowed to enter to play. I really worry about their company!
Xiaolongqiu in Yandangshan National Forest Park: A serene, emerald water descends from the heavens, dancing gracefully across the cliffs. The waters are as clear as a mirror, reflecting the surrounding peaks. Strolling through them feels like walking through a secluded ink painting, a truly refreshing experience.
There was basically no water in Lingyan when I went there.
Xiaolongqiu is located in Lingyan Scenic Area. It takes about 30 minutes to walk in. It is not as impressive as Dalongqiu, but the difference in height is still quite large.

Although the water level is a little smaller than that of "Dalongqiu", it has an additional "Wolong Valley" attraction, which is still quite interesting. The gimmick of a film crew filming adds a lot of luster to the attraction.
As we walked up the scenic area, the road split. One side led to Xiaolongqiu. It was actually nothing special, just a small waterfall, but for a three-fold waterfall, it was acceptable.
Also known as the Little Waterfall, it is located at the foot of Yinlongzhang, behind the right side of Lingyan Temple, and is one of the main scenic spots of Lingyan. Surrounded by cliffs, the rock belly is the color of coral and agate.

On the hill to the left of Xiaolongqiu, monkeys holding fairy peaches and ducks playing in Wolong Creek are both worth seeing. Furthermore, the large rectangular stone in front of the pool resembles an inkstone, and next to it, a small, flat, rectangular stone slab resembles a piece of pine soot ink.
Big and Small Dragon Springs are must-see attractions for every tourist coming to Yandang, and they feel pretty good.
In Lingyan Scenic Area, you can reach it by walking on the glass plank road after going up the mountain. It is a very quiet scenery with a winding path until the end. The waterfall is not very charming, but it seems to have an atmosphere of retreat to the countryside.

We chose the former, as the mountain road was easier to walk on.

Yandang Mountain is a famous scenic spot, suitable for weekend leisure travel. It has typical Jiangsu and Zhejiang landscapes. It is not so stunning, but the natural scenery makes people feel comfortable.
After watching the Lingyan Ferry, I walked back to Lingyan Temple and took a leisurely walk along the narrow path behind the temple, enjoying the coolness of the summer. After a while, I saw a waterfall falling from the cliff. It was Xiaolongqiu, but the water volume was relatively small. I took a photo and went back.

A glass plank bridge, partly punctuated by sound effects, occasionally displays images of shattering glass accompanied by sounds. This creative touch might frighten the faint-hearted, but it's quite inventive. The trickling stream to the lower left of the bridge is Xiaolongqiu. Xiaolongqiu originates from an underground river in the mountains, converges into a pool, and then slowly flows down. This marks the end of the scenic area. On the way down, follow the signs for another path that leads directly to the bottom of Xiaolongqiu, where you can gaze up, listen to the waves, and enjoy the panoramic view.
