The Griffith Observatory, located atop a hill in the Hollywood area, offers sweeping views of Los Angeles and is a prime spot for photographing the Hollywood sign. It has also served as a backdrop for numerous Hollywood blockbusters and even as a filming location for the James Bond film franchise. Self-service parking meters are available midway up the hill, allowing parking on the inner side of the circular path. Parking is available from midway to the summit (the top of the hill often fills up at dusk, when the observatory is busier). Parking as close to the summit as possible is recommended, as climbing up and down the hill is both tiring and time-consuming.

We arrived during rush hour, so traffic was heavy. The staff had already closed the road to the summit parking lot and instructed all incoming vehicles to turn around and find a street parking space on the road. (The later you arrive, the farther you park; ours was a 15-minute walk from the summit.) Street parking requires automatic payment via a credit card at a self-service payment machine. The estimated hourly rate is $6 per hour (generally, two hours is sufficient). Cash is not accepted at the machine, and the payment receipt must be placed prominently on the windshield inside the vehicle for inspection. If you are caught overdue or unpaid, you will receive a hefty fine or even have your vehicle towed.

Due to its popularity, parking is difficult. There's a paid parking lot, but it's nearly impossible to find. We turned right at a fork in the road before the parking lot, parked on the mountain road, and walked over. There was a toll booth next to the road, and I paid $8. Looking back from the hill, the line for parking stretched far away, with even more cars looking for a spot, a stark reminder of the area's popularity.

This iconic scene was filmed at Cathy's Corner, near the observatory and the Hollywood Sign. In reality, it's just a dirt road. During filming, the crew installed streetlights and benches to give the location a stage-like feel.

The best time to visit is in the evening. The view of Los Angeles and the Hollywood sign from the park at sunset is breathtaking. There's also an astronomy museum in the park where you can learn a lot about astronomy. It's a great idea to visit after Universal Studios – it's highly recommended!

After a satisfying meal, it was already past 8pm. We planned to head to Griffith Park to enjoy the Los Angeles nightscape from La La Land. Unfortunately, even though it was late, the area was still packed with tourists. We almost reached the top of the hill but couldn't find a place to park. We could only gaze out the car window at this star-studded city from afar. Sadly, we missed experiencing Hollywood up close on the big screen.
