Hollywood Sign

When talking about Hollywood, one will naturally think of the huge HOLLYWOOD letters standing on the top of the mountain.
The original full name of the logo was HOLLYWOOD LAND, which was used as an advertising slogan for Hollywood Studios.
After 1960, the four letters LAND were removed, resulting in the familiar HOLLYWOOD logo.
You can only take photos with it at the nearby Griffith Observatory or in the city.

At the entrance, you can see a road leading up the mountain. Follow the group up the mountain and pass by countless high-end residential areas along the way. There is a park at the top of the mountain. This is the closest sign to Hollywood.

Naturally, I couldn't avoid checking in at the Hollywood sign. This was my first glimpse of America. The scene where this sign appeared in the first American TV series I watched, Friends, still makes me excited when I think about it.

Reaching the summit takes some effort. It takes half an hour to get there, and the climb is incredibly steep, with high-end residences along the way. Living there requires both wealth and driving prowess. The summit is mostly populated by tourists. Helicopters frequently patrol the sky above the sign, partly to prevent suicide attempts and partly to prevent graffiti. After all, this is Los Angeles' most famous suicide spot and parody site. Many people even take pride in parodying the Hollywood sign.

The Hollywood Sign is a landmark in Los Angeles, California, United States. It is an important cultural symbol of the United States. It is located on Mount Lee (California), in the Hollywood Hills of the Santa Monica Mountains, overlooking the Hollywood district of Los Angeles.

The word "HOLLYWOOD" is spelled out in eight 45-foot (14-meter) tall, white, capital letters. Originally an advertisement for a local real estate project, the landmark was created in 1923, but its status has since grown. The Hollywood sign was once a frequent target of pranks and vandalism, but has since been repaired and equipped with a security system to prevent such attacks. The nonprofit organization, the Hollywood Sign Trust, maintains and promotes the landmark. From the ground, the hill's topography gives the sign a wavy appearance, but when viewed from a higher altitude, the letters appear roughly parallel.

The Hollywood Sign appears frequently in popular culture, particularly in film and television, often serving as the primary subject of establishing shots of the Hollywood area. There are many similar signs around the world.

I don't know if there's anywhere else to take a photo of the sign (I think there is), but most people take photos of it at Griffith Park, but they're a bit far away so the photos aren't very clear. Maybe I need a professional camera.

The Griffith Observatory, located on the top of a mountain, is right next to the Hollywood sign and is one of the best places to take photos with it.

The Hollywood sign is located on the wealthy side and people there don't like being disturbed by tourists, so searching for the Hollywood sign on Google won't give you the correct route.

The ultimate destination for a trip to Hollywood is the Hollywood sign. Naturally, I couldn't avoid checking it out. It was my first glimpse into America. The scene where the sign appeared in "Friends," my first American TV series, still makes me excited. But it's a bit hard to find.

Because if you navigate to the Hollywood sign, it will be very far away. Because an actress committed suicide by jumping off a cliff on the letter D, tourists are no longer allowed to approach the Hollywood sign. You can only take photos with it at the nearby Griffith Observatory or in the city.

Our approach was to find the nearest place to the Hollywood sign on Google Maps and approach it. We first navigated to a dog park. As we neared the park, we saw a path leading uphill. We followed the group up the hill, passing numerous upscale residential areas. At the top of the hill was the park, the closest sign to Hollywood. Many people lined up to park and take photos. Parking is free on both sides of the road at our destination for two hours. After parking, we continued up the path until we found the perfect photo spot.

We can see the park with a lake on the slope near the Hollywood sign, which is the park we navigated to.

Actually, the higher you drive, the better the angle. However, you can't park at the top of this road. Remember to tilt the front wheels when parking to prevent the car from rolling. The angle here is much better than the observatory.

Because an actress committed suicide by jumping off a cliff on the letter D, the Hollywood sign has been closed to tourists. Tourists can only take photos with it at a nearby dog park or in the city. Here, many people from all over the world take photos with the Hollywood sign.

There are several locations to take pictures of the sign. 1. The observatory, but the photo of a large crowd and a small view is not what you want. 2. You probably won’t be able to take a panoramic photo if you climb up the mountain Hollywood Park.

I recommend shooting in the early morning, as the backlight at sunset is very strong and metering is difficult to control. If you want to take portraits, be sure to use a flash.

The large letters HOLLYWOOD on the Hollywood Hills are undoubtedly the most iconic symbol of Los Angeles. It's a must-see for anyone visiting Los Angeles to take a photo with them, proving they've been to Hollywood. And here's where you can get up close and personal with the sign. The higher you climb in Hollywood Park, the closer you get to it. However, there's a fee to get to the top. If you don't want to pay, there's a parking lot halfway up the hill.

Besides, there's really not much else here, just an average park.

The Hollywood Sign is located in the Hollywood Hills. Standing 1 meter tall and 11 meters long, it's visible from many Los Angeles streets. Don't miss it!

The area in front of the sign is not allowed to be approached, as if to prevent actors from performing dramatic suicides here, but it is allowed behind it. You can start climbing up the mountain from the GRIFFITH Observatory parking lot, but the one-way distance is about 5km.

We went there just as the sun was setting, hoping to watch it, but the location didn't make it a good place to see it. Hiking is also a good way to exercise. I live in Hollywood, which isn't far away, and it took about four hours in total.

Hollywood Sign Coordinates: 34.126602 -118.326498

The Hollywood sign is at the top of a hill, and the roads leading up and down are difficult to navigate. Many cars parked unruly on the sides of the road, often causing us to miss each other. The parking spaces near the sign were all steep slopes, so our limited driving skills prevented us from finding a spot. We ended up finding a private parking spot, parked for five minutes to take photos, and then headed back down the mountain...

Parking on a steep slope is really scary, so people with poor driving skills should not try it.

There are two places where you can see the Hollywood sign. One is near the Avenue of Stars and the other is at the Griffith Observatory. You need a telescope or a telephoto lens to take a picture.

20 Days in the Western US! This Time It's Really a Honeymoon! (Part 1) (Los Angeles - Yellowstone National Park - Glacier National Park - Las Vegas)

This is a residential area located halfway up a mountain, very close to the Hollywood sign. At the top, there's a small hillside with no obstructions, offering excellent views! Erji's method of finding the route was surprisingly simple: he simply set his GPS to the Hollywood sign, and Google recommended this route. What a pleasant surprise!

Looking out at the Hollywood sign from afar, is it beautiful? It doesn't seem particularly striking, as it's the same sign I've seen countless times in Hollywood movies. It's still the same, just like in the movies. But I think it's beautiful, perhaps because it represents a dream of Hollywood stardom.

This Hollywood landmark is well-known to everyone, so come and check it out.

This is actually a wild scenic spot. The navigation was not very good. We drove towards the sign and somehow ended up at the bottom of the mountain where the sign was. There were private houses at the foot of the mountain and no place to park. We didn't know the traffic rules at the time and only parked for about 10 minutes. When we came back, we were given a ticket.

This is the birthplace of Hollywood movies. We found the perfect location for viewing the Hollywood sign that was previously recommended in a foreign forum. It is actually a park of moderate size. When I saw others taking photos standing on this lush lawn in the travel guide, I thought it was really beautiful and I envied it for a long time.

If you keep thinking about it, there will be a response! I didn’t expect that I would be standing in this green land at this moment. I feel that life is so incredible.

The only way to go up the mountain is to see this sign, but it is also very fun. It depends on your attitude. We rented a car and drove there. It would be a bit tiring to go by yourself. It is recommended to rent a car to play.

By Xiao Shenger |

I didn't go there, but I looked at it from a distance at the observatory. It was so far away.

This can also be regarded as the symbol of the entire Los Angeles. Fortunately, it is located on the mountain. Whether it is the observatory or the Hollywood Highland Center, you can see it at a glance as long as you have good eyesight.

By Are you cotton too? |

After much searching, I found this filming location, which is said to be the closest to the Hollywood sign. Unfortunately, the sun had already set. I turned around and looked down at Los Angeles under the sunset.

By A-YUE |

This should be considered a landmark in Los Angeles. It can be seen clearly at the Griffith Observatory.

By Twisty Caterpillar |

We only saw the sign from a distance. A small regret was that we couldn't get closer, partly due to time constraints and partly because this classic tour was combined with the Griffith Observatory. So, we walked along the mountain trail for about an hour and a half before turning back. It was a fantastic experience, something you can only experience on your own. Our only regret was that we didn't get to walk the entire way—though we did see the Hollywood Sign! This kind of hike is a rare one, though. On the way down, we took a shortcut and struggled down the large tube. And so, I dedicated my first rock climbing trip to Los Angeles, USA... Hahaha... An unforgettable experience!

By Shen Yu |

I just took a look at it from the skywalk next to the Dolby Theatre. If you want to see it up close, you have to go around to the Hollywood Hills behind it. It's too far, so I won't go there. It's enough to see it.

Hollywood Sign [When talking about Hollywood, one naturally thinks of the huge HOLLYWOOD letters standing on the top of the mountain. In the early 20th century, the natural scenery of the West Coast attracted several small film companies to build studios, and gradually formed a film and television center with Hollywood as the main center. When this sign was first built, its full name was HOLLYWOOD LAND, which was used as an advertising slogan for Hollywood Studios. After 1960, the four letters LAND were removed, and the HOLLYWOOD sign we are familiar with today was formed. Each letter is about 14 meters high. In 1932, an actress who was unable to bear the failure of her career committed suicide by jumping off the letter D. Since then, tourists have been prohibited from approaching the Hollywood sign. Visitors can only take photos with it at the nearby Griffith Observatory or in the city.

By Jessica Sandwich |

The famous Hollywood sign can only be seen from a distance. Unfortunately, the phone can only take pictures of this level. The guide said that it is famous mainly because a star committed suicide by jumping off there. Now the Hollywood Hills are blocked and tourists are not allowed to enter.

The Hollywood sign can be seen from the Griffith Observatory. It's located on a private hill, so you can't reach the entrance.

By Ordinary Mind |

We drove up early this morning and saw Hollywood, which is actually on a hilltop, from a distance. It had the word "Hollywood" written on it. We took some photos and headed back. A few other cars were parked there, probably to take photos, so there weren't many tourists there.

The most famous one is the English letters HOLLYWOOD on Cahuenga Mountain in Hollywood (in a dog park near Canyon Lake Drive, Lake Hollywood Park, navigation address: 3204 Canyon Lake Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90068. Latitude and longitude coordinates: 4.126602, -118.326498).
