Millennium Park

Millennium Park, located in the heart of downtown Chicago, boasts not only modern sculptures and architecture but also a wealth of interactive public art, outdoor dining, and classical music. The Jay Pritzker Music Pavilion, Cloud Gate, and Crown Fountain are three of Millennium Park's must-see attractions. Crown Fountain—This modern fountain in Millennium Park lacks a water-spouting animal head. Instead, Spanish artist Jaume Plensa projected the faces of over 1,000 Chicagoans onto a 50-foot LED screen, creating the illusion of fountains gushing from their mouths. The Jay Pritzker Music Pavilion—Architect Frank Gehry designed this spectacular outdoor concert hall for Millennium Park. It's home to the Grant Park Music Festival and frequently hosts free concerts and exciting events. Cloud Gate is the first public outdoor work by British artist Anish Kapoor in the United States. It is made of perfectly polished stainless steel plates, reflecting the unique urban landscape of Chicago. It has become the biggest highlight of Millennium Park. All tourists who come to Chicago will take pictures here.

Millennium Park is a distinctive large urban park located in the Loop district of Chicago, USA. It is located in the city center. On one side is the bustling Chicago city center, including skyscrapers such as Sears Tower and the Chicago Board of Trade, and on the other side is the beautiful Lake Michigan.

Covering an area of 24.5 acres (99,148 square meters), it was completed in July 2004. Designed by the famous architect Frank Gehry, it is a center of "post-modern architectural style".

Transportation: Take bus No. 3, 4, 6, 26, or 143 to Michigan & Madison Station, or take the Brown, Green, Orange, Purple, or Pink Lines to Randolph/Wabash or Madison/Wabash Station and walk east for 10 minutes, or take the Red Line to Monroe-Red Station and walk east for 15 minutes.

Millennium Park is one of Chicago's iconic attractions, attracting millions of tourists and becoming an important representative of Chicago's city image.

We went to Millennium Park to see the Fountain and Cloud Gate. Unfortunately, the marathon was underway, and traffic was restricted, so we couldn't get into our original parking lot. We had to find a random spot to park our car. The park is located by the lake, so it must be beautiful in the summer.

Even small flowers bloomed on snowy days. Chicago is really interesting!

The first place to visit when visiting downtown Chicago is Millennium Park.

Millennium Park, designed by Frank Gehry, was completed in July 2004. Originally intended to be a green space above an underground parking garage, it ultimately became a landmark masterpiece; and now, beneath it, there is a garage with nearly 9,000 spaces.

The park's three main components—the Open Air Concert Hall, Cloud Gate, and Crown Fountain—all embody postmodern architectural styles and are well worth a visit. The surrounding skyscrapers serve as a natural backdrop for the park. Unfortunately, we visited in winter, so the fountain was closed.

Millennium Park is strategically located, with the Parker Building (yes, the most famous Parker pen, the Parker Building looks like a pen tip), Willis Tower, Cornwall Marina City, Trump Hotel, etc. all within a few minutes' walk.

The most worthwhile experiences are the open-air music square and the musical fountain that records people's portraits. It is a holy place and paradise for all art lovers.

The beauty of Millennium Park is captivating. The trees lining the road have turned yellow and fallen, revealing a vibrant interweaving of yellow, green, and red. Every moment is as beautiful as an oil painting. Breathing in the scent of late autumn, quietly admiring the crimson leaves strewn across the ground, I pursue the beauty of simplicity and tranquility. The tranquility of autumn brings a peaceful heart.

The pair of LED video walls are truly eye-catching. Facing each other, they seem to be engaged in silent communication, expressed simply through a smile, a raised eyebrow, a pout... The way these two-dimensional characters communicate in real life is truly fascinating and a truly stunning and creative expression...

The park has four major features: Cloud Gate, fountain, open-air concert hall, and ice rink, each of which will leave a deep impression on you.

By Amazing |

Millennium Park is just across the road from the Art Institute of Chicago. There is no need to say much about the fame of Millennium Park. When you come to Chicago, how can you miss taking a photo with the "Soybean"? I love it so much.

Millennium Park is located in the heart of downtown Chicago. The Jay Pritzker Music Pavilion, Cloud Gate, and Crown Fountain are three of the most unmissable attractions in Millennium Park.

Tips: You need to go through security check to enter Millennium Park (I don’t know if there is security check during normal times or because there was a music festival on those days). If you come very early, you don’t need it because the security staff have not yet started work.

The scenery is nice and worth a visit; it happened to snow

By Sesame Dorayaki |

It's really just a very small square with a copper pea inside, and it's very crowded with tourists. However, Millennium Park is also connected to many open parks and is a great place for a walk.

By Zorro |

It was definitely different from the daytime experience, the lighting was quite beautiful. Many unknown trees in the park were in full bloom, and the scent was quite strong.

The park wasn't crowded at night, except for the crowds at Yundou. Everywhere else felt a bit eerie. Yundou looked quite different at night, a shimmering, crystal-clear object under the light, like a glowing object from within. The Chicago skyline's shadow shone even more brilliantly. Its rounded edges almost blended in with the night.

The lights in the high-rise buildings around the park are dim, and it seems that many people are working overtime.

Near the roadside is a rainbow wall, a waterfall wall illuminated with lights. The rainbow wall displays different smiling faces, perhaps symbolizing world peace.

There were many tourists taking photos in front of the internet-famous bean in Millennium Park early in the morning. In fact, I was not very interested in this modern sculpture. I quickly checked in and went directly to the Art Institute of Chicago not far away.

This is not a tourist attraction, it's just the name of a location. Very nice and beautiful

Millennium Park, a large park located in the Loop (downtown Chicago), is a major cultural and entertainment center on the shores of Lake Michigan. It is said to be the second most visited attraction in Chicago.

Millennium Park, adjacent to the Art Institute of Chicago and Grant Park, is home to numerous tourist attractions. The park boasts the breathtaking Cloud Gate and Crown Fountain, attracting visitors from around the world. Skyscrapers create a backdrop for the park. Evening concerts are common, and ice skating is also possible in the winter. Transportation is also convenient, with various subway lines offering stops nearby. Take the Green, Orange, Brown, or Pink Lines to Madison/Wabash or Randolph/Wabash stations, then walk two blocks east. Alternatively, take the Red Line to Monroe station, then walk two blocks east to reach Millennium Park.

Nearby, Lake Michigan is dotted with boats and seagulls fly. Wild ducks stroll unconcernedly through the woods.

Chicago is often called the "Windy City" and is a world-famous tourist destination. If you're traveling to Chicago in winter, it's best to pack extra layers of clothing to prepare for the city's changing climate.

Go when the weather is good, the soybeans reflect the blue sky, which is very beautiful.

To avoid the crowds during photo ops, we were dropped off at the hotel early in the morning and walked south to Millennium Park. The park was originally built to celebrate the 3rd millennium. However, as anyone who has lived in the United States knows, many projects in the US aren't completed on schedule. As a result, Millennium Park's opening ceremony wasn't held until July 16, 2004. From east to west, the park features the BP Pedestrian Bridge, the Jay Pritzker Pavilion, Cloud Gate, and the Crown Fountain. A boy running in front of the Jay Pritzker Pavilion, holding his younger brother.

By kraynay |

Cloud Gate, Crown fountain, you will wonder at the creativity and imagination of the modern artists. The Jay Pritzker Pavilion was holding the musical festival and band putting on show everyday, for free! Citizens can sit around or walking by enjoying the most elegant or spirited classics. What a perk. Buildings of age and newly built ones stand next to each other in a most comfortable sight, indicating a city with history and future.

Parking is expensive, like all big cities, heavy traffic and lots of one way. Prepare for that.

By Tracy_Chang |

The park should be good to go in the summer, there will be a saliva fountain and a music festival~

By Grace wants to travel around the world |

A must-see attraction in Chicago. Cloud Gate, located in Millennium Park, is undoubtedly a major draw for tourists. Every visitor gets to know Chicago through this place. Across from it are those skyscrapers. Parks are the perfect embodiment of a city's public space. Seeing so many locals enjoying this place, whether strolling, exercising, or chatting, this is perhaps the true value of a park: it's not about being fancy, but about the fact that locals can enjoy its presence.

By beyourjm |

It's beautiful, but I went there at night and didn't see the scenery during the day. I will go there again next time if I have the chance.

By beecool777 |

Millennium Park includes a concert hall, theater, gallery, gardens, monuments, pools, and Cloud Gate. I only visited the garden, concert hall, and Cloud Gate. I missed the rest.

By Fisherman |

A large park on the shores of Lake Michigan, with three landmarks each with their own unique characteristics, a must-see attraction in Chicago

By Emily🌻 |

It was winter when I went to Chicago. The weather in December was similar to that in Harbin in winter. I didn't appreciate the beauty of Millennium Park. If I have the chance, I hope to go to Chicago again in the summer. Maybe it will improve my impression of this city.

The famous 'pea' is here and is a must-see when visiting Chicago

By Ding Yi |

The giant pea in Millennium Park is quite unique. The nearby Art Institute of Chicago is also worth a visit.

A big bean!!! There are a lot of people!!! It is recommended to go early

By Xia Xia |

Millennium Park, one of Chicago's many parks, is a civic park with a distinctly postmodern aesthetic. It's famous for its Cloud Gate, offering a pleasant stroll along Michigan Avenue on one side and along Lake Michigan on the other. Look at the famous giant pea! Who in Chicago hasn't taken a photo with it?

By eka |

The park is quite large and we didn't walk through it completely. Many attractions are in the park. It faces Chicago Lake to the east, and the scenery is beautiful.

By cocoa |

Millennium Park is next to Cloud Gate. Everyone goes to Cloud Gate, so naturally, Millennium Park is a must-see. You can lie down on the lawn and take a nap. Are you secretly thinking about that? But no, the lawn in the park is probably protected because there are too many people.

By Li He |

When the weather is good, it is really ever-changing.

By Letitia🍉 |

Millennium Park is most famous for its Cloud Gate, nicknamed the Chicago Bean. It is said that there are often lawn music festivals in the park.

By Love_Platycodon grandiflorum |

This is a must-see place for tourists in Chicago, no need to recommend it.

By Xiao Lai yx |

There is a big fountain next to Millennium Park. The water column is very high and looks spectacular. There are not many people around and it is very empty.

By One string rhythm |

I really enjoyed the long stretch of parkland along Michigan Lake in Chicago. Millennium Park is one of the most famous, primarily due to Cloud Gate, also known as the "bean." The reflection of Cloud Gate casts a myriad of images of people in various poses, making it a truly photogenic spot. Nearby is the open-air concert hall and the Crown Fountain, but there were no performances when we visited, and the fountain is closed for the winter, which was a real disappointment. Walking straight from the Crown Fountain, you'll reach the Art Institute of Chicago, but that's something we'll plan for later.

By Little Madman |

This is a must-see attraction. Cloud Gate, Clown Square, and Music Square are all here.

By The whole family |

The Jay Pritzker Music Pavilion, Cloud Gate, and Crown Fountain within the park have become iconic Chicago landmarks. On a summer evening, attending a concert and getting wet is a refreshing experience.

By green fruit |

It's a free park with modern features and there's also underground parking, but it's a little expensive at $25 for 8 hours.

By Cao Bo, who traveled all over the country |

The first view of Chicago. I was staying at the Congress Plaza Hotel on Michigan Avenue. I woke up early in the morning to go to the Radisson Blu for a meeting. I walked along Michigan Avenue, but didn't see the soybean. I came back in the evening and still didn't see it. Later I looked around and finally found it... The design is very unique, and now it's a bit mysterious inside.

By Maravich |

It is also a must-see place in Chicago, a park in the city center, connected to the Magnificent Mile

By Lime Kiwi |

A very modern park with a strong sense of design. The open-air concert hall, Cloud Gate and Crown Fountain are representative buildings.

By Xia Lian |

Millennium Park houses three must-see attractions in Chicago: the Amphitheater, Cloud Gate, and Crown Fountain. All three are unique and highly recommended!

Another landmark in Chicago, how can you miss it?!

By yf890312 |

Millennium Park is Chicago's most famous park, located in the heart of downtown, on the shores of Lake Michigan. It's free to visit and bustling with visitors during holidays and at dusk. Millennium Park and several nearby parks are also free, making them incredibly popular.

By Ling Qiaoer |

The facial expression of the Crown Fountain inside keeps changing, and every once in a while, water jets out of the mouths of the citizens on the screen, bringing sudden surprises to people.

By Miss-Chonger |

The open-air theater in Millennium Park is a large outdoor stage that can accommodate 11,000 people. It has complete sound facilities and numerous performances are held here.

By Chris_YY |

Another major attraction in Millennium Park, the Face Fountain, projects the faces of more than 1,000 Chicago residents onto a 50-foot LED screen, creating the illusion of fountains gushing out of their mouths.

By Dingdang who loves photography |

Here, you can't miss the "bean" Cloud Gate, a stainless steel artwork by Anish Kapoor. This "bean" absorbs a vast array of scenery, creating a different experience from every angle. Then there's the luxurious open-air concert hall and magnificent buildings. There's also a simple park nearby.

By sunsw55 |

In Millennium Park, Spanish artist Jaume Plensa used a camera to record the facial expressions of 1,000 Chicago residents, changing one every 10 minutes.

By WalterLostZ |

This is one of the attractions you must visit! I live relatively close and come for a walk every morning.

By Sarah |

At the park entrance, I saw many balance bikes whizzing around, which was quite impressive. Since I couldn't carry a camera with me, I could only watch others ride them. There's a fun attraction to the left of the park entrance, featuring the faces of ordinary locals. They have all sorts of expressions, blinking, smiling, and occasionally spurting water from their mouths. Children and adults can be seen running around in the pond in the middle, which is quite entertaining.

There's a giant kidney bean in Millennium Park. Tourists try to find themselves inside it, while students on a trip line up in front of it, jumping in various poses and taking photos.

By Struggle's little grandson |

Walk along the Magnificent Mile to the river, and you will see the park about 2 blocks away.

Millennium Park is most famous for its three signature works: the ultra-cool open-air concert hall, the Jay Pritzker Music Pavilion, the "bean-shaped" Cloud Gate, and the Plensa Crown Fountain. Cloud Gate, in particular, was transformed by the talented artists who transformed the once unassuming park into a Chicago landmark.

By Hao Di Li |

Millennium Park is the most famous attraction in Chicago. I think it is like the Forbidden City and the Summer Palace in Beijing. It would be a pity if you don’t come. You will regret it if you come.

By yanglis |

I like this park very much. The buildings inside are very interesting, especially the soybean, which is worth seeing.

By Suiyuan Yiding |

Millennium Park is a highlight of Chicago's urban planning. There are many attractions in the park such as the open-air concert hall, Cloud Gate, Crown Fountain, etc., which have become the business card of this city.

By Nanshi |

The "Cloud Beans" in Millennium Park are made of 168 polished stainless steel plates welded together seamlessly. The elliptical spheres have distorted outlines of buildings, and when visitors walk by, the images will also be distorted, like a funhouse mirror.

By Monet's Haystacks |

I never understood why this silver bean was so famous. I didn't see anything pretentious about it until I moved to the side closer to the road. Then I realized how precise the angle had to be to condense an entire street of skyscrapers onto this silver bean.

By bird moon moon |

A very beautiful park, located on Michigan Avenue, is a must-see place in Chicago, especially the stainless steel ball court in front of the square, which reflects the various buildings in Chicago. There is also a deep dish pizza not far away.

By Jiang Xiaolan |

Before coming to Chicago, I had no idea that this was a symbol. It is actually a spherical pea, like a funhouse mirror. If you try to walk inside the pea, you will see a more special world.

By Water Monster Tata |

Millennium Park is a better choice in the summer because it has a musical fountain and the music plaza has big concerts every week. It's worth a visit! Chicago is so cold in the winter, it's really cold!

By Xu Yiran TINA |

These past few days, after nightfall, Millennium Park has been hosting a nightly music and light show. The plaza beneath Cloud Gate has become a natural backdrop, with vibrant neon lights dancing and shifting in time with the music, illuminating the ground, reflecting into Cloud Gate, and glittering into our eyes. This undoubtedly adds a touch of romance and psychedelic color to Chicago's snowy early spring nights. I stood quietly in a corner of the plaza, enjoying the show, listening to the gentle bouncing of the tinkling music and watching the light and shadows create a series of two-dimensional and three-dimensional patterns. I couldn't help but step into the vibrant patterns, and my own body became more colorful. In life abroad, if you are adept at discovering and embracing the vibrant world, you will realize that life is truly infinitely beautiful!

By Amin |

Millennium Park is surrounded by tall buildings, and there's a small flower I didn't know existed on the grass. It's quite pretty. There's also a dazzling pedestrian overpass—I think it was designed by Gehry himself—that extends all the way to the lake. It's a shame it's not open yet, but if you're planning to go there in the future, you should check it out.

By Wild Child_Kit |

One landmark frequently featured in Chicago's promotional videos is Anish Kapoor's 110-ton stainless steel "Bean," officially known as Cloud Gate, inspired by flowing mercury. The Bean's gleaming surface reflects the skyline of Michigan Avenue. The Bean is almost always packed with tourists, striking bizarre poses and sometimes even newlyweds taking wedding photos. The bustle has become another highlight of the Bean.

The Bean is only a small part of Millennium Park. Millennium Park is a hub of postmodern architecture. Unlike the ancient, heavy architecture of Europe, the designs here are imbued with unbridled imagination, lightness, and freedom. Here, you'll find the Jay Pritzker Pavilion, an open-air concert hall, and the BP Bridge, designed by Frank Gehry, which continue his signature use of metal for a sense of eerie, ethereal beauty.

By Chris Yuhao |

Millennium Park is much quieter at night. I can finally enjoy The Beans quietly. The night view of the entire Downtown is reflected on the sphere, which is a very magical view.

By fog |

Entering Millennium Park, I was surprised by the creativity of Cloud Gate. If all modern art were like this kidney bean, it would be progress.

By Quick Beans |

This artwork shimmers, seamlessly visible, reflecting the scene before it like a mirror. Due to its spherical shape, the reflection creates a distorted image, similar to a funhouse mirror. Different people perceive the scene from different perspectives. Whites, Blacks, and even Asians—all laugh and playfully pose for photos beneath this wondrous and fascinating cloud bean.

By I love traveling |

Cloud Gate, Chicago's newest landmark, is a massive sculpture located in Millennium Park. Standing 33 feet tall, 66 feet long, 42 feet wide, and weighing approximately 110 tons, it's affectionately called "The Bean" by Chicagoans, a fitting description.

The exterior of Cloud Gate is made of polished stainless steel, which reflects the surrounding scenery. The "beans" seen at different times and angles are different. It is called "the gateway to Chicago, reflecting a poetic city."

By Five-color flower clappers |

Millennium Park's most distinctive feature is Cloud Gate, designed by British artist Anish. The sculpture is composed of 168 iron plates, polished to an exceptionally bright finish. Despite its massive size, its shape is remarkably unique, resembling a giant bean, earning it the nickname "Silver Bean" by many locals. The surrounding buildings are clearly reflected on it, seemingly housing the entire city of Chicago.
