Hi there,
From booking.com I have narrowed down to the below lodgings based on charm and budget, and what I assume to be a rough location for some walkability? They're probably a real mixed bag of choices
...We are a family with 2 kids 7 & 3 coming for 3 nights in December. Are there any that stand out for being in a GREAT location?
- Citadines Connect Georgetown (has a pool and 2 bedroom so it's probably at the top of my list)
- The Magazine Boutique Hotel
-
-Reunion Carnavon
-Hotel Penaga
- Attic Hotel
Thanks so much!
I can also get a good deal for Hotel Jen from time to time but it's not showing atm, but if it did ?
Hi, they are all roughly the same per location wise... You need to reach Google reviews to decide which one suit you more since one or two you picked didn't get good reviews lately. Of them, Jen is a full fledge hotel with all the facilities (full size pool, sauna, gym etc)
Citadines is brand new.. Penaga was nice but think it is dated by now?
Edited: 2 years agoThank you! I think I'm narrowed down to Citadines or Hotel Jen because I know the kids will appreciate the pool at the end of the day?
This area is a pretty good base?
Or taking suggestions if there are other hotels anybody could suggest in a great area for walking, with pool, under 400myr p/n. Don't have to be as modern as those ones, I do love the heritage lodgings I just can't find any in that range.
Yeah most Boutique hotels are priced rather high especially during peak season like December. Best you book free cancellation now. Try Agoda, most of the time the rate is better.
The George, Prestige, Royale Chulan Penang, Jen, Sunway, Citadines all has pool and should be in the region of your budget if book early. Location not much difference since Georgetown Heritage enclave isn't that big.
Thank you for those suggestions! I'll check them out
Hi again, so I had booked Citadines but I realised my dates are wrong and we are staying in GT at the end of our trip rather than the start. 🤦♀️
So in JANUARY for 3 nights Citadines (2 bedroom suite) becomes more expensive and also no longer includes breakfast as it previously did (585myr p/n)
And Jawi Peranakan Mansion (Mansion Suite) appears for the dates for 424myr p/n
Obviously I am loving the heritage styling of this hotel, but I do know from one of my original posts that this is on a very busy street, a bit further to walk to the main heritage area?
I think I'm prepared to pay more for Citadines,if the location is much better?
Have you read the Google latest or newest reviews? Do that to compare...Jawi is at the heritage enclave too so no worries... As for the road being busy I doubt so.
II skim the booking.com reviews and generally book properties rated 8+, but we aren't too fussy though and tend to place location over everything else, it's just when I'm tossing up location that I have trouble deciding.
... I've decided to stay with Citadines for now lol
Thanks for all your help! Looking forward to visiting Malaysia!!
From experience... Google review 4 rating or 3rd party apps 8 and above. Anything lower, we tend to find issue with the property as well. So stick to your 8 and above lol... Google review when you click newest will usually let you know if the property is in operation and how the condition as latest as just a few hours ago. So very useful at least to us :)
I'm just looking to book the citadines connectGeorgetown Penang. Was it handy for streets with coffee shops, bars and shops etc?? Thanks xxxx
