Travelling by car from UK to Japan

Hi everyone I hope you're all well.

This is my first time using forums so apologies if I'm not being clear on my questions 🤗

So I would like to know if anyone here have travelled from UK to Japan by car? If yes I would love to know about the routes you took and what kind of problems should I take in consideration to do something like that 😁

And I'm also taking 1 cat with me so that's probably going to be complicated in some places right to pass borders or if I do all paperwork needed for my cat in UK I don't need to do anything else?

Thanks to anyone that gives me some kind of information I've tried to search online but it's not very clear what I've found 🤦🏻‍♀️

Kind regards,

Alexandra

Driving, you'd be at risk of a flooded engine.

Eurotunnel to France to all the way to Siberia (Vladivostok/Korsakov), then ferry to Japan. Not sure but ChatGpt would tell you something about it or if that's feasible at all. How serious are you, Btw?

It's technically possible but the drive across Russia is extreme and will take several weeks. The roads can be low quality, temperatures in winter are brutal and fuel stops are few.

The cat will probably cause you hassle as will taking the car across international borders.

You could probably take a more southerly route but that seems unfeasible.

This is a trip that needs much planning, a reliable and tough vehicle and probably some basic mechanic skills.

With the current political situation with Russia I think a route through there would be if not impossible, very difficult and perhaps ill advised.

A more southerly route would pass through a few other countries that would provide difficulty and safety risks.

I would think with a great deal of planning and patience and overland route is possible, it would be very complex with the visa requirements. It would also be more complex to the point of potential impossibility when a car is put into the picture to drive legally (you cannot drive in China without a Chinese drivers license for example)

Adding a cat to the mix, I can't even begin to imagine what a headache that would be.

My opinion. Overland route without car or cat is probably doable, would probably be best done only by a seasoned traveler with loads of time and disposable income.

A Swiss friend of mine ran her 650 class motor bike from her home country. She crossed Russia and China. Rest was cross border ferry ride (China - South Korea and South Korea - Japan). I think China South - Korea ferry is still suspended.

1 post alexandra is trolling. no way she is serious. you all do what you want but i would not spend time helping her plan a drive to Japan with her cat.

I suppose one can never know; I thought people in Turkmenistan and Afghanistan speak the same language because the country names both end with -stan.

Stan is an affix of land or country in Farsi.

Plus infinity to post 6

Did You do your Drive?
