Update please? How is that beach road?
FYI:
Hotel Avalon just said the road works continue.
This is from 3 weeks ago.

I think the initial estimate was for 18 months
That is enourmously helpful!!!!!!
I will use that to know where is likely a no-go part of the strip in terms of selecting a hotel.
I can't thank you enough!!! Awesome!
3 - Bear in mind it's 3 weeks old - as far as I"m aware they are doing a section at a time some it moves along in chunks. So always check with the hotel to see if work is going on directly outside.
Edited: 1 year agoI will indeed bear that in mind. Thank you again so much!
This is 8 days ago, so it says: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2YpycWZs8SI
It shows the beach from Thappraya southbound as done for 100 m or so, then below that either under construction, or about to be, with a small bit finished maybe 1/2 km south of Thappraya.
The southern 2/3 seems like it will be done in several months, but there not even starting there yet.
I suppose staying somewhere around Thappraya is a good bet.
Thanks again!
Looks like they have stopped work probably run out of funds avoid jomtien the beach is filthy not clean at all
Richard C, thank you.
Actually, we've come and gone. The roadworks seem just like in the video links.
We stayed at Avalon, and it was lovely, except for the very noisy chairs being dragged along the tile floors at the breakie buffet. But the the roadworks are all finished either side of that hotel.
As for the filthy beach, yes, Jomtien and Pattaya beaches are dinged up nicely. Overuse and generations of idiot humans chucking rubish into the seas.
You know, when I was a kid, none of that washed up on the shores. Now, the oceans are full of it. Terrible.
Altogether, the roadworks and reworking of the seafront were scheduled to last for 18 months ... so a while to go yet, I would imagine
But the installed tiles do look nice. I think it's worth the effort.
