Sports equipment instead of baggage in airasia
Hi everyone,
During the booking process with AirAsia, I selected a regular baggage option, but on the confirmation, it showed up as 20kg premium flex luggage and 30kg sports equipment by mistake. We actually need this much allowance, as we're traveling for a few months with vacation and remote work essentials.
I’ve tried contacting AirAsia (via bot, voicemail, and “Manage Booking” options) to have it correctly labeled as regular baggage, but no luck so far. Please don’t suggest these options, as they haven’t worked.
My question is: if we show up at the airport, will they allow us to check in our bags as regular baggage instead of sports equipment? I’d love to hear from travelers who have faced this or airline staff with insights.
We specifically chose AirAsia as it seemed best for this route, though we typically go with other airlines when better options are available. Thanks in advance for any advice

Same here. Somehow, when I make the booking, there was no option for additional baggage than the sport equipment. After I've confirmed booking and i went in to check, the option of additional baggage appeared and the price is different from the sport equipment. I tried to contact AirAsia but to no avail. I am not sure if i can check in normal luggage using the sport equipment allowance
just seeing if baggage was able to be provided as sports equipment? I just purchased flights and 20kg somehow came up as sports equipment and I cannot get it cancelled or refunded!
