Hi,
I'll be in Varanasi for 2 nights in July. At the moment I'm booked in at the Taj Ganges. I'm just not sure that maybe it would be better to stay on the ghats. I've found a room at the Ganges View for roughly the same price as the Taj Ganges. I generally prefer quieter places hence my initial choice of not staying on the ghats, but I've read I'd be missing out a lot, and plus at the Taj if have to take tuk tuks all the time. Has anyone stayed at the Ganges View recently? Thanks
For the overall experience, it's better to stay near the Ghats. This is where the action happens!
There are three good hotels there -
1. Brijrama Palace (it's bit expensive for it's character)
2. Suryayday Haveli (almost similar price of Taj Ganges)
3. Guleria Kothi (similar price of Taj Ganges)
Guleria Kothi is twice as expensive. I think I may just stay with Taj Gange.
I’m in Varanasi now. Tuk Tuks aren’t allowed in around the centre of the main ghats. It’s not quite anywhere:) just immerse yourself in the ghats area as getting around is noisy and difficult.
I'll be going in July so rainy season...is it OK to stay in the ghats at that time?
You made a good choice staying away from the river.
There was a time when river and ghats were quieter and one could enjoy it.
For the last couple of years Varanasi has become over crowded.
So Taj is a better choice
