Tai O
What is the best way to get from Kai Tak cruise terminal to Tai O and the fastest way back.
Its a pretty long journey between Kai Tak (Kowloon) and Tai O (Lantau Island). Fastest, most convenient (and most expensive) would to take taxi. It is around 60km away by road.
Otherwise, you can use public transportation taking a combination of MTR and bus. Journey time around 2 to 2.5 hours each direction. I would make my way to Tung Chung MTR Station and from there take bus 11 from the Tung Chung Bus Terminus to Tai O (see link)

Note that if you choose to take a taxi then in fact you will need to take two, because only a small number of taxis are able to work on south Lantau Island towards Tai O. You would need first to get a red taxi from the cruise terminal to Tung Chung station, and then switch to a blue taxi for the trip to Tai O.
I guess you might be looking at a total of about HK$500 for the two journeys (so HK$1000 round-trip).
