Jaipur in September
Hello! This is a bit early but my friend is visiting India in August-September and we're planning a Jaipur trip around that time. If not feasible, we will need to look at other options. I wanted to know:
1. How is the rainfall in mid-September?
Will we miss out on days of exploration or should we expect mild showers?
2. Does the sound and light show at Amber Fort/Palace continue during monsoon season?
3. Is this the off-season and will it impact markets/attractions (closures, poor infra, etc)
4. Any concerns for visiting during this season?

Visiting Jaipur in August-September during the monsoon season can be a beautiful experience but comes with certain considerations. By mid-September, the monsoon starts to recede in Rajasthan, so you can expect occasional showers rather than continuous heavy rainfall. The rain is usually not very disruptive, and the weather becomes more pleasant with cooler temperatures compared to the peak summer months.
The sound and light show at Amber Fort typically operates during the monsoon season, though it might be canceled in case of heavy rain.
Markets and attractions remain open throughout the year in Jaipur, even during the off-season. In fact, it can be a great time to explore as you’ll encounter fewer crowds at tourist spots like Hawa Mahal, City Palace, and Jantar Mantar.
Monsoon showers rejuvenate the city and its surroundings, making everything lush and vibrant, which is a rare sight in arid Rajasthan.
Some infrastructure, like open courtyards or unpaved paths, might get muddy after rain, so comfortable footwear is advisable.
Plan visits to open-air attractions like Amber Fort and Nahargarh Fort during the morning when rains are less likely.
