Shinkansen QR code: how to get the ticket with QR code
Good morning, I bought a ticket for the Shinkansen train and printed out the QR code which I will save on my phone and keep in paper format as well, however, I am not clear how I will have to do to get the actual ticket, it is not clear if I have to scan the QR code directly at the turnstile leading to the train or if I have to do it at the machines, and it seems to me a bit complex operation. So I have to scan the QR code directly at the turnstile before boarding the train and there is no need to use the machines, somewhere I read that a paper ticket is issued but I don't understand where I have to pick it up, directly at the turnstile? Thank you
To pick up the paper ticket you have to use the ticket vending machine for reserved seats.
No need to get the paper ticket. Just scan your QR code at a gate that has a QR mark. A piece of paper with your seat info will come out at the other end of the gate, so be sure to grab that. When you arrive at your destination, you scan the QR code to get out.
