Hi, we are a couple in our 60s who have travelled quite a bit both in Europe and SEA. We want to spend 4 nights in LB, with a day trip to see Komodo dragons. This is within a month's trip to Indonesia. My question is, would we be better staying near to everything in town at Seaesta Komodo Hotel (in a private room) or at the more comfortable Sudamala Resort? We like a mixture of culture, sunbathing and lively evenings. My worry about the Sudamala is that there is nothing by it. How easy would it be to get into (and back from) town every night? We're not averse to staying in hostels (but with a private room!).
Seaesta is indeed more lively than the Sudamala area however the mosque is relatively nearby and this can be annoying early morning.
Sudamala has their own transport but I am not sure if they use this as a shuttle to/from town.
Their are no taxi's in Labuan Bajo. Grab is available but they have motorcycle taxi's only.
As anne notes, the noise from mosque loudspeaker right next door makes Saeesta a non option for us.
I inquired of management if any rooms were situated to be immune to the noise but the answer was "sorry sir there is nothing we can do about it". Nuff said.
Thank you. Really appreciate that feedback, very useful for a decision!
