Another accommodation question...

After much research we are still unsure where we stay. First time in Hoi An we are unsure whether to spend our 5 nights in the Old Town or 5 nights on the coast at Victoria Hoi An Beach & Spa. Its a 12/15 minute car ride to old town. We obviously want to spend the 5 nights exploring Hoi An's tourist attractions but also like the idea of a nice beach resort as our base. Would love ideas and thoughts of why and where to stay???

Its now too late to edit/add that we will be spending 5 nights in Da Nang as well. Haven't started looking at accommodation there. That may also determine the location where we stay in Hoi An???

What time of year ?

Scott

Hi Scott, We will be there early August.

After researching DaNang now I'm unsure where we spend the 5 nights at each place? Should we spend 5 nights in Da Nang on the beach and 5 nights in Hoi An in the city/old town??? It's so hard when we haven't been before. Would love to hear ideas/suggestions. Again, as I said we will be doing a mix of relaxing and 'touristy things',

Okay, so what is it you're actually hoping to achieve?

If it's beach, then it's the same beach between Danang and Hoi An.

If it were me, I'd pick one or the other.

But, I also wouldn't / don't go to Vietnam for it's beaches.

You'll find far better down the road in places like Torquay or Ocean Grove.

Staying in Hoi An itself?

The two times we've been there, we stayed slightly on the outskirts.

If we were to return, which is highly unlikely, we wouldn't stay in / so close to town.

We have 5 nights in each of Da Nang and Hoi An. We are def not going to Vietnam for the beaches as I agree, we have great beaches here in Australia. Just thought it would be good to mix it up by staying in one of the places closer to the beach and the other a city experience. We are unsure which place to stay at the beach/city. We go on to Hanoi for 6 nights after then we head home. I hope we are spending the right amount of nights at each of the 3 destinations to visit the tourist destinations and get a feel for each place.

"We have 5 nights in each of Da Nang and Hoi An."

Ok, fair enough.

Not my preference; I'd pick one or the other; but it's not my holiday.

If you like a mix, 3nights in Da Nang (take a look at hotels in An Thượng) and 2nights in Hoi An (take a look at hotels in An Hoi, all short walking distance to your demands). You have more things to explore in Da Nang than Hoi An.

Victoria is nice but not so much on walking distance like at An Bang Beach.

We checked in yesterday at homestay Vu Nhi and next week we stay at other homestay in An Bang Beach village.

We like the relaxed vibe and plenty bars and restaurants on walking distance.

Old town we visit early morning, it's a ants nest and very hectic.

Nice to see but not to stay for us.

We prefere small homestays 《 B&B》instead of huge hotels, they can be very noizy when big groups or family take over the place and it seams they can't talk normal they are always

We don't care that the beach isn't like in Mexico or Dominican Republic.

It's beter than home and it's relaxed and affordable
