15days Stay Exit Time

Hi everyone. Has anyone been through this experience before? Please share.:)

I have a doubt regarding the exit time during my 15 days of stay in Japan. My upcoming travel dates are as follows:

25 October : Landed at 22.00 ; 10 Nov : Departed at 00.05

I am aware that 26 October will count as Day 1, therfore day 15 is Nov 9th. If I have checked in and cleared the immigration on Nov 9th let's say at 22.00, does this mean I have exited Japan exactly on the 15th day even though the flight is at midnight which by date is already the 16th day?

Or Will I be considered overstaying? I have emailed the Japanese immigration regarding this matter too.

Thanks for helping and sharing your experience.

I believe your first day is on the day of landing. Oct 25.

Your first day is the day after you land, so in your case, it’s the 26th.

When you go through outgoing immigration, that’s when you exit Japan. Technically speaking, the air side is outside Japan. You’ll be OK with a 15-day visa with your itinerary.

Arrival day is day zero. One of the quirks of the visa system. For reference, a 90-day visit is also 91 calendar days in total.

If passing through immigration before midnight, that is your final day in Japan. One through, you are not technically "in Japan" for visa purposes. Plus, your flight could be delayed, re-scheduled to a different time so the 00:05 a.m. time could be later or earlier.

Thank you both for the clarification.🌼

Just had the same situation and it was no problem. As you have already passed immigration if flight canceled or the like you would get a new 15 day stamp I would think.

Thank you everyone for replying. It really helps me in finalizing my flight schedule. :)
