Trip extension ideas please
Hi, I am going to Sri Lanka on an organised adventure trip in early August. The trip goes from Negombo-Dambulla-Kandy-Hatton-Mirrissa-Galle-Columbo. I have booked my return flight a 3days after my trip ends but not sure where to go. I would be grateful for any suggestions of where to go for the last couple of days? I would like a single base and will be a solo traveller, I enjoy beautiful scenery and lovely cafes!

Maybe a village/hotel on the border of Sinharaja forest, allowing you 1-2 days of half day trekking? If transfers by cab the northeastern side of the park is easier though it hardly has cafes; the southeastern side, near Deniyaya, is more lively and easier to reach by public transport.
As for beaches, if you like kiting maybe Kalpitiya (3 hours north of airport) could be an option. Enough restaurants and cafes too.

Hi Danielle, you could explore Colombo city, Gangarama temple and street food in Colombo.
You could also do a 1 or 2-night trip to Udawalawe to visit the National Park, elephant transit home and surrounding area, which is about a 4-hour drive from Colombo. You could take a highway AC bus from Kottawa to Embilipitiya and then a tuk tuk or another bus to Udawalawe if you are going to use public transport.
