Early April
Hi!
Planning a trip of say 10 days to Tohoku in early April. Am I too early for the cherry blossom? I have already been to Aomori, Akita ( part of it), Nyuto onsen, Sendai. Where else can I visit? Not into temple visits unless it is to view cherry blossom in the temple grounds. Appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!
Tohoku is a fairly large area where sakura usually reaches peak from mid to late April, depending on locations.

In Sendai consider the Funaoka castle-ruins Park (船岡城址公園), Hitome Senbonzakura 白石川堤一目千本桜, and Fukushima Hanamiyama (花見山). All are top 100 sakura spots.

None of those spots is in temple ground unlike in Kyoto.

It looks like I will be too early for Sakura in Tohoku.
I have been to quite a few Sakura seasons already. Ok, to miss it. Just wondering where else to go.
Whatabout Niigata, Yamagata and Iwate? Any interesting places worth visiting?
There are nice spots in Yamagata and Iwate though more in mountainous areas so either the mountain roads are still closed or snowy/icy in early April.
For warmer and pleasant weather consider Izu Peninsula with sakura blossoms. Mt Fuji can be viewed from some locations on clear days.
