Islands around velassaru
We are keen to go to Velassaru but we are a little concerned about the rubbish island that gets mentioned now and then. Can anyone advise us if this is an issue? We love the look of Velassaru but we also want to be sure that whilst a speedboat transfer is more appealling out of season, we will enjoy overlooking the the surrounding islands.
Also we want a less family friendly resort and whilst we are going outside of the school holidays we would like some real peace and quiet away from,large families or groups.

I didn’t notice any rubbish island when I was at Velassaru. Nothing disturbing around. I was there Oct 2023. I find it very unlikely that there would be a new rubbish island nearby.
We were there in 2018 when the rubbish burning was still a thing and tbh it really had zero effect on our stay- we didn’t notice it at all. Given they no longer burn rubbish, I really don’t think that is something you need to worry about. That said, there was a lot of heavy duty boat traffic which we didn’t like so would always prefer a seaplane transfer to get further away from Male.
