Hotpot question
Hi, I came across this underground air-raid shelter hotpot : 地下之城老火锅·宇宙第二大洞子火锅. Do they only serve spicy hotpot? Do they have non spicy hotpot?
I don't quite understand how to get there. Can anyone advice which is the nearest metro station and the exit?
Any recommendations for non spicy hotpot in Chongqing?

If you are not sure how to use Gaode then get direction from the hotel staff. I dined a few times and always asked for non spicy except once asking a bit spicy and it turned out too “hot” for me, the important thing is to get the sauce right, if not sure ask the staff to recommend.

Authentic Beijing style mutton hotpot is not spicy at all. But eating that in CQ, sounds like pineapple pizza🍕 in Naples.
I can’t say for that place, but a number of hotpot restaurants in Chongqing also have a non-spicy option. More like a tomato broth, than the mala broth. In many you can go half and half with the broth if you are concerned with the spice. Half thepot is spicy, the other not.
Some restaurants also allow you to select a spice level. Although that tends to vary from hot to very very hot.
My friend and I stumbled across a nice hotpot place that had a small queue of locals waiting for a table, so we decided to try that place. I enjoy spicy food, but certainly I’m not the highest tolerance given being raised in a cultural that used almost zero spice during my childhood. We selected a medium spice level and it was hot, but enjoyably so.
For CQ,spicy hotpot is not only local cuisine,but also local life wisdom to the super humid and hot living environment. Tingling and spicy food help locals with better appetite,speed up circulation and sweat more. All very helpful in summer,in preindustrial times. More or less like the vodka or other strong liquor drinking habits in cold and wet area of Europe.
It is available to take Metro Line 6 at Xiaoshizi station(小什字)for 4 stops to Hongtudi station(红土地）in CBD Jeifanber area to that hotpot restaurant, then get off at exit A1 and walking to the hotpot restaurant for couple 0f minutes, and it is impossible to order double flavor hotpot in the restaurant, it means one pot being split by half spicy soup and half non spicy soup ,normally the non spicy soup is made by tomato or mushroom etc, and trying to order a little bit spicy flavor for the half spicy soup!
