Just arrived for our annual holiday in Candolim and immediately noticed 2 significant changes to long standing Candolim bar/restaurants.
Friends bar has now changed to a new Indian restaurant called Punjabi Kitchen…..no more full English breakfasts there for me!
Meanwhile, one of the oldest/ long establishments Bom Successo has now been replaced by an upmarket Indian Pizza Restaurant called Nonnas.
Sign of the times I guess but a shame when the old bars/ restaurants are replaced.
They are responding to the market. Goa, and especially the north, is a year round destination nowadays and the customers are mainly Indian. The places that cater to foreign, primarily British tourists close during the monsoon so are only getting half a year's trade. Candolim in the monsoon is almost as busy as the winter season but with more rain.
