Bringing Gluten free food into Masters Tournament

We are attending the Masters for the first time. We will be there on Practice round days. I have Celiac and want to bring my lunch. Will I be allowed to do this?

I am grateful for any advice or help!

Attending the Masters Tournament is an exciting experience, and it’s important to plan ahead if you have dietary restrictions such as Celiac disease. The Masters has strict rules regarding outside food and beverages, but they do make accommodations for medical needs.

Here is what you need to know about bringing gluten-free food into the tournament:

  • Standard Policy: Generally, guests are not allowed to bring outside food or beverages into Augusta National Golf Club. This policy applies to all spectators in order to maintain security and consistency in operations.
  • Medical Exceptions: Spectators with medical conditions, including Celiac disease, are permitted to bring food that is required for health reasons. However, this typically requires informing Augusta National in advance or having documentation to verify the need.
  • What to Bring: Small, personal-sized portions of gluten-free food are acceptable for medical purposes. Pack items that are easy to carry, discreet, and do not require refrigeration if possible.
  • Tips for Entry: At the gate, inform the staff that you have a medical dietary restriction. Be prepared to show identification or documentation if asked, and explain that your food is medically necessary.

Additional advice to make your day easier:

  • Consider bringing snacks like gluten-free granola bars, protein bars, or individually wrapped items to minimize issues at the security check.
  • Pack your food in a small, clear bag to facilitate inspection by security.
  • Check the official Masters website or contact their guest services in advance to ensure compliance with their latest policies. Rules can vary slightly from year to year.
  • Remember to stay hydrated—bringing your own water may also require disclosure due to the same restrictions, so check ahead.

In summary, while outside food is generally prohibited at the Masters, medically necessary gluten-free food for Celiac disease is allowed. Planning ahead, informing staff, and packing wisely will help ensure you have a comfortable and safe experience while enjoying the tournament.
