Taxi/ uber

Hi all,

We are visiting Boston from the UK and are coming via train to Salem for the day Fri 6th Dec. I know this is a very random question but before we return to Boston we would like to visit Walmart. There seems to be one close to Salem. Would it be easy for us to get a taxi/ uber to it and return from it to the train station .

Thank you for any help with our strange request

Visiting Salem for the day from Boston and including a stop at Walmart is definitely doable, and your plan to use a taxi or rideshare service like Uber or Lyft is the most convenient option, especially without a car.

Here are some details to help you plan:

  • Salem has several Uber and Lyft drivers available, especially on weekdays, so getting a ride to Walmart should not be a problem. Expect a short wait time if you request a ride during the day.
  • The Walmart near Salem is located at Walmart Supercenter, 140 N. Liberty Street, Salem, MA (verify exact address on your app). It is about a 10–15 minute drive from Salem Train Station depending on traffic.
  • Returning from Walmart to the Salem Train Station is equally straightforward using the same app-based ride. The distance and time are short, and most drivers are familiar with key local stops like the train station.

Additional tips:

  • Check Uber/Lyft availability before leaving the train station, particularly if you are traveling during peak hours (morning commute or afternoon around 5–6pm), to avoid delays.
  • Have the Walmart address saved in your phone so you can easily input it for the ride. Also, have the train station address ready for your return trip.
  • If you prefer, you can also call a local taxi company in Salem for a round-trip arrangement, but rideshares are generally more convenient and reliable.
  • Allow extra time between your Walmart stop and your train departure, in case of any traffic delays, especially in winter conditions like early December.

In summary, using Uber or Lyft for your Walmart stop and return to the Salem Train Station is easy and reliable. It’s a short drive, well-covered by rideshare drivers, and will make your day trip from Boston much smoother.
