Weather end of January

Hi everyone. This will be our first trip to Vegas. Trying to figure out how to pack. Does anyone know how cold is gets at night? Light jacket with your outfit or full on winter coat? I would prefer to pack light but want to make sure. Thank you.

In late January, the weather in Las Vegas can be a bit tricky to pack for, as daytime temperatures can be quite mild while the nights can get surprisingly cold. During the day, temperatures usually range from the mid-50s to mid-60s °F (around 12-18°C), which is perfect for wearing layers or light clothing. However, come evening, temperatures can drop significantly, often dipping into the 30s and low 40s °F (around 1-5°C), especially in the desert air.

Here's how you can pack to be prepared:

  • Light jacket or sweater for the day – You'll be comfortable in something lightweight during the day, such as a light jacket or a sweater, particularly if you're out walking or sightseeing.
  • Winter coat for the evenings – While a full winter coat may not be necessary, it’s a good idea to bring something heavier for the evenings. A warm jacket, like a medium-weight coat, will keep you comfortable when the temperature drops after sunset.
  • Layers are key – A versatile approach is to layer. You can wear a long-sleeve shirt or sweater during the day and add a jacket or coat when it gets cooler. A scarf and gloves could also be useful for the chillier evenings, particularly if you plan to spend time outside for any length of time.

In summary, a light jacket or sweater should be fine during the day, but I recommend bringing a heavier jacket or coat for the evenings, especially if you plan to be outside at night. If you're traveling light, layering can be the most efficient way to handle the temperature swings in Las Vegas during late January.
