Lobster tails
I’m taking my parents on an anniversary trip to New England ( Boston MA and ME coast and my mom wants lobster tails. Not a roll not a whole lobster. Just lobster tails. any suggestions for restaurants that won’t break the bank??? Thanks!
New England is known for its amazing lobster dishes, and it’s great that you're planning to treat your parents to a special anniversary trip! Since your mom specifically wants lobster tails (and not a roll or a whole lobster), there are a few spots in both Boston and along the Maine coast where you can enjoy delicious lobster tails without breaking the bank.
In Boston:
- Legal Sea Foods (Long Wharf): This Boston classic has a wide range of seafood options, including lobster tails. While Legal Sea Foods can be pricey, it’s a well-known staple with a reputation for quality, and you can usually find more affordable options if you go for smaller plates or check the daily specials. It’s an excellent place to enjoy lobster in a comfortable setting.
- Atlantic Fish Company: Located in the Back Bay, this restaurant offers a variety of seafood dishes, including lobster tails. It’s a bit upscale but often provides value for money with its fresh, well-prepared lobster. You might be able to find lobster tail on the menu at reasonable prices during lunch or dinner specials.
- The Barking Crab: A casual seafood joint located by the Fort Point Channel, The Barking Crab is a great spot for fresh lobster. They serve lobster tails as part of their seafood platters and can provide a more budget-friendly option compared to some of the fancier restaurants in the area.
Along the Maine Coast:
- Red’s Eats (Wiscasset, ME): While it’s better known for lobster rolls, Red's Eats also serves lobster tails and offers great value for a New England lobster experience. It’s a popular stop on the Maine coast, and the prices are more reasonable than many of the upscale lobster houses. It's also a no-frills, roadside stand, making it a fun, casual experience.
- The Lobster Shack (Cape Elizabeth, ME): This laid-back spot offers lobster tails in addition to their famous lobster rolls. With stunning views of the ocean, it’s a great place to enjoy fresh lobster at an affordable price, especially if you’re looking to experience the Maine coast without overspending.
- Boothbay Lobster Wharf (Boothbay Harbor, ME): Located in the picturesque Boothbay Harbor, this family-friendly lobster house serves lobster tails at reasonable prices. The waterfront location is beautiful, and it offers a great combination of fresh seafood and value. If you’re exploring the Maine coast, this spot is worth considering.
Tips: If you want to keep costs low, try visiting for lunch, as many restaurants offer discounted menus or specials. Also, check the menu ahead of time to ensure they offer lobster tails, as some restaurants might only offer them seasonally or as part of a larger platter.
With these options, you should be able to find a great place to enjoy lobster tails without over-spending, whether you’re in Boston or exploring the beautiful Maine coast. Enjoy your anniversary trip!
