We (a middle age couple) are planning for a trip in May. Our plan is visit Qinghai Lake from Xining, and go directly to Chaka Town by public transportation. However, we don't know which train/bus or time schedule for this. Any info?

Should we just rent a car from Xining? Any recommendations for rental company? Rates?
