Accommodation suggestions - First time in Palm Springs

Hi all,

We have decided to stay in downtown Palm Springs for a trip with my husband and adult son (he is 19yrs old). There doesn't seem to be many two room options in hotels. Does anyone have a recommendation for either a two room suite or hotel?

Or alternatively, what accommodation do you suggest? We would like a mid range or a bit above mid range. We would love to stay somewhere quintessential Palm Springs rather than a large chain hotel.

Thanks in advance :)

For a first-time visit to Palm Springs, staying in downtown is a great choice because it puts you close to restaurants, shopping, and the vibrant mid-century modern architecture that defines the city. Finding a hotel with a true two-room suite can be challenging, but there are several options that cater to families or groups wanting a bit more space and privacy without resorting to large chain hotels.

Here are some accommodation options to consider:

  • Korakia Pensione: This boutique hotel is styled like a Moroccan Mediterranean villa and offers suites with separate bedrooms and living areas. It’s centrally located, intimate, and offers a quintessential Palm Springs experience with pools, lush courtyards, and charming décor.
  • La Maison Hotel: A small, boutique hotel with some two-bedroom options or interconnected rooms that can accommodate families or groups. The hotel has a retro Palm Springs feel, a nice pool area, and is within walking distance to downtown attractions.
  • Casa Cody Historic Inn: This historic inn offers larger suites, sometimes with multiple bedrooms or living spaces. It’s a smaller property with a mid-century Palm Springs charm, featuring gardens and a relaxed atmosphere.
  • Palm Springs Vacation Rentals: If you’re open to a short-term rental, platforms like Airbnb or Vrbo often list private mid-century modern homes with two or more bedrooms, pools, and full kitchens. This can give you the quintessential Palm Springs experience with added privacy and flexibility.

Tips for booking:

  • Book as early as possible, especially for boutique properties, since they have limited rooms and can sell out quickly in peak seasons.
  • Check if hotels allow two separate sleeping areas or interconnected rooms; some boutique hotels can accommodate requests even if the listing only shows standard suites.
  • Consider renting a house or condo if you want a private pool, kitchen facilities, and more space for your group. Many rentals are within walking distance of downtown and still maintain that classic Palm Springs vibe.

Overall, for a mid-range to slightly above mid-range budget, boutique hotels like Korakia Pensione or La Maison Hotel provide a quintessential Palm Springs experience with unique décor and central locations, while vacation rentals offer more flexibility and space for families or groups needing two bedrooms.
